This was probably the worst meal I have had in years. Everything on the plate (burger/breakfast) was burnt. The lifeless staff behind the bar were totally oblivious to customer service. Everything in this place needs sprucing up and given a bit of TLC.

Sadly we had a terrible experience, we had booked a table for myself and my husband and we’re on time We waited twenty minutes for our order to be taken. Both ordered a starter. 20 minutes later my husband got his hummus and pitta starter ( no cooking to be done) I waited for mine which was a hot Camembert, 15 minutes later when I asked how much longer it would be I was told there was none. I had ordered fish and chips and my husband the chicken roast. No fish! After having been there an hour we said to cancel the rest of the order and wanted to leave. A woman/ cook came out and apologised, I said we should have been told on ordering what was not available,, they had a set Sunday menu for the day so not that difficult. She then asked what she was supposed to do as she had o ky had one fish and they usually have people order the Sunday roast. Then don’t have other things on the menu. She had a terrible attitude and we will not go back. We asked the young barman for our drinks bill which they offered at no expense and seemed embarrassed. On leaving I did tell the young man at the bar it wasn’t their fault but a very badly organised kitchen. Not impressed at all.

Really excellent homemade pie and chips. The chicken and mushroom pie was full of the above ingredients and the pie crust was very good. The 'cabbage' as advertised as the veg was actually mixed with several other veg and was actually very tasty. The chips were the best I have eaten in a long time. Well done the cook and the lady behind the bar, all very welcoming.

Even with well spaced tables the atmosphere in this local pub reminded me of pre-virus days. There is a great choice of wine and beer but it is the food that really sets it apart. We booked the White Hart in December having been for lunch in November, for mum's 80th on 26th January . We asked for somewhere fairly quite because of mum's hearing problems. They seated us in a quiet room for our party. The waitress assigned to us was called Maizie, what a wonderful young lady, she went out of her way to make sure we were well fed and watered. Nothing was too much trouble, mum had a fantastic lunch with all her family. The food was excellent and I'm advised the beer was wonderful and well kept. Top marks all round for the White Hart.

If you are looking for incredibly delicious food for an event that everyone will remember fondly for years to come then look no further. Lynda and her White Hart crew catered for our wedding party in September 2018. It was a relatively informal affair with approximately 80 guests but the food on offer was one of the main highlights of the evening and people just kept on coming back for more! We met with Lynda before the event to discuss what foods we would like to have and what would work well with the venue and style of party that we were having. Lynda then fine-tuned the menu to ensure each dish was crowd pleasing, as well as practical for eating buffet style. Lynda’s extensive experience in the industry really shone through and she knew where to source all of the best quality of ingredients locally. We had to ensure that it was all nut and gluten free because of the allergies of some of our guests and she was able to adapt to this brilliantly without compromising on the quality or taste. We explained that we were also on a budget and she was able to help to support us to keep within this without compromising on the quality of the produce. Lynda and her team were able to be flexible with a rather unconventional venue and preparation space but were also to get everything ready before our guests arrived. All of the dishes were presented absolutely beautifully too so it was a feast for the eyes as well as delightful to eat. Initially, she put out a range of antipasti style foods including meats, cheese, olives, humus, crudités and salads. Then she made a range of moreish main meals including chicken curry, tuna Niçoise salad and coronation chicken. She also had a great contact to supply the desserts/puddings including roulades and chocolate mouse tarts. I cannot recommend Lynda and her team highly enough and we will definitely be hiring her for future events too. Thank you very much for making it so special!

A good menu plus lots to choose from on the specials boards. We chose oriental belly pork strips with veg and egg stir fried rice with sweet chili dip followed by honeycomb cheesecake. Both were really nice and good portions. As it as such a lovely evening we sat outside in the closed in courtyard. Plenty of friendly people coming and going both with and without dogs.

Called in recently for a weekday lunch. Very quiet with only one other table dining. In terms of ambience and atmosphere, there was no fire lit so could’ve been warmer and cosier. The decor is odd, one area is boudoir style zebra print, which feels a bit at odds with the natural charm and character of an old country pub.

We had a lovely meal here on Friday night, at first we were a bit unsure, they are a very dog friendly pub and there must have been about 7 or 8 dogs wandering round. No problem for us as we like dogs! Service was very friendly and all at the bar. We ordered Spanish tapas to start (chorizo stew, peppers, patatas bravas, jámon, Manchego and olives). It was slow to come out, all their food is cooked from scratch from the looks of it, but it was SO delicious and well worth the wait. For second course 2 of my party had half lobster and chips and I had goats cheese and walnut salad. Again it was delicious. I will be returning when I'm next in the area. Thank you for a lovely meal

We've been a few times now for Sunday lunch. The roasts - in three sizes - are always fantastic, the closest to a (very decent) home-cooked roast we've ever found. We do like this place-the food is good and the atmosphere is dandy. Our biggest issue is the service time. We visited with kids including a baby and it took 1.5 hours for our main food to arrive. The baby was fidgety and crying and eventually we left before pudding was ordered. We would have loved to have eaten pudding! We were the first ones to arrive at the pub and kind of hoped this would have meant we would have been in and out much quicker. I think that more staff on special days would have helped.

We all ordered a roast from the menu. The children each had a roast chicken - child size. My partner and I both had roast beef which came in either medium or large.Service was prompt and friendly. We were checked on through the meal to make sure everything was OK. Our meals came accompanied with three large bowls of mixed veg to share which was lovely. We all chose puddings from the board which seemed to be homemade and were very tasty. Our only slight criticism was that the pub seemed a bit cold. We were lucky enough to sit by the fire but only half our party felt the benefit and we noticed other diners had kept their coats on.We really liked the friendly dogs who were no bother and well behaved. We will definitely revisit soon!

The White Hart is everything a local should be and more. The food is way above the normal standard freshly cooked with local seasonal ingredients and lots of variety around a basic favourite type of pub menu. The decor was typical old fashioned pub but Lynda and Paul have gradually added their own individual ideas and it is now utterly charming in the way a place can only be that has evolved rather than been done up to an inch of its life. My omelette was luke warm by the time my chips arrived, but was still very nice.I love dogs, afraid my dad isn't keen on them sniffing round even though they were called away my dad wasn't chuffed at a patterdale resting its head on his leg begging. Family get-together of 11. We had neglected to phone ahead but we had deliberately chosen a Thursday evening so as to avoid a busy venue. Evenso, the Pub was very accommodating in putting in the table extension upon our arrival. The meals were all excellent, a variety of their home-made burgers, fish'n'chips, lasagne. We were warned it would take some time to prepare, which was fine given all the catching up and socializing taking place...but an unfortunate deletion of one of the orders meant one in the party had to wait an unfortunate extra 20mins. Given the size of our party and the additional drinks orders going in throughout the evening, it was more than a little irritating when our host implied the error was ours...but, in the end, the cost was deducted from the final billDesserts were quite marvellous...and the Hart has a decent selection of both local and big-brand ales.

Dogs are welcome and 2 live on site - they have good manners enough to watch while you eat and only ask for fuss after the plates have been cleared! Their web site describes the pub perfectly. The standard plus special menus give plenty of choice, but not so much that makes you worry. We started with some olives and excellent hummus, and followed with a ratatouille pie and a burger. The pie was imaginative and good and with a well dressed (balsamic) salad. The burger was clearly home made to order. Chips can be either thin or fat! Both were good. Small, simple but OK wine selection, plus good beers. Not so much in the middle of nowhere as on the far side of nowhere, I never realised that there was another Otley outside Yorkshire. Passing through today, I stopped at the White Hart for a snack lunch - something that most ghastropubs now seem not to serve. I was pleasantly surprised to find that, yes, cheese sandwiches were on the (extensive) menu. They were very tasty too. (I was also surprised that they came with a serving of Branston Pickle in a ramekin, but no knife with which to spread it. I dunked.)There was a choice of three real ales as well as the usual fizzy stuff. The guest ale that I had was beautifully kept, and a real pleasure to drink. The pub dogs were friendly and affectionate, and added much to the ambience. A pub without animals is like a hearth without a fire.Loos were clean and did not smell. The décor was tired and the window blinds were dreadfully dusty. Not first rank, but not bad at all.

First time back in here since new management. It's safe to say The White Horse is back!! Fully stocked bar, good choice of beers, very welcoming host. It has only been back open a month, so they have started with a small menu to get started and it did not disappoint. Absolutely delicious food and served promptly. They have just taken on a second chef and are aiming to expand their menu shortly. Will definitely be back! Oh and their Christmas Dinner Menu looks delicious and very reasonabley priced.

Proper tasty home cooked food. Eaten here 3 times during our weeks stay in the area. The downside is the road from Debenham to Cretingham - it’s very narrow but nowt Yorkshire folk can’t handle. Although my hubby was a bit disgruntled that you only served Roast Pork as a roast on a Sunday lunch and no Yorkshire Puds - he’s a Beef and Yorkshire Pud chap!! the food has been exceptionally tasty and the staff amazingly friendly. Highly recommend a visit
