What has happened to this chippy, I travel to this place as it has always been good. Unfortunately tonite was not good at all, wrong pie which was soggy and pale. The fish was too dry to chew and the Large chip portion now alot smaller. The staff are friendly and polite. But That was my last visit.

Chips undercooked. Onion rings covered in stodgy cold batter. Peashad funny taste

Had a bad experience at this chippy last year with the terrible customer service so I thought I would give it another go, £20 not well spent, nearly £2 for a can is ridiculous. Nothing special about the food, not enough gravy on the chips, the muffin wasn’t even buttered properly. Would never eat here again.

Battered sausages tasted overcooked and surprised cold drinks were packed with hot food

not the best quality fish (tasteless) and the chips were cold and hard, as though they had been left in the warmer for ages, disappointed as I normally order at teatime and has always been excellent

I’ve ordered from White Fish several times due to its consistent high quality;not this time however.The fish was overdone and had an end of batch feel;the chips didn’t taste like they’d had the requested salt and vinegar and even the peas lacked that usual mushy texture.Hopefully it was just a one off but I think I’ll leave it a while.

4 stars… why? Well the service is brilliant, atmosphere spot on, average fish & chips not the worst & not the best but on previous visits the fish and chips seemed a lot better I dont know if this time it was because it was a quiet Tuesday just wasnt as good as it has been, but definitely worth a try. I try to be fair with my reviews and honest.

Beautifully cooked fish, could tell it was fresh. Only fault was the delivery, he knocked and left it on the cold doorstep.

The meal was very nice and the delivery man was very polite as well

They forgot to bring mushy peas and curry sauce

Unsure why this superb chippy has felt a neeed to cheapskate on the quality of its home made cheese and onion pie. At £3.80 a portion it’s not the cheapest but was ok value for money, BUT now the pie is shallower which detracts from taste and value- very disappointing !

Luke warm food, fatty soggy batter, good chips but ruined by lack of heat. 6.15pm was first time given for delivery actually arrived at 7.10pm

Standard fish n chips, cant complain, (apart from its not mushy peas) just peas in peas juice and somebody stirred it with a fork. Same price as Armstrongs only Armstrongs does better fish.

Can’t believe nearly an hour for delivery when it’s so close. Yes I was being lazy getting it delivered! Luckily the food was hot and good quality.

Food shown up colder than anything, and I waited for hour an hour nearly 2 for my original time, had to call the restaurant for them to get a driver!

White fish have the best fish and chips around. The fish was humongous and delicious. This would be the my first choice for fish and chips.

It was absolutely lovely - just need an early afternoon sleep now to recover!

The meal was just delicious. The cod was white and the batter was really light and thinly coated. The fish was moist and really tasty. The chips where proper chip shop chips and the peas where really tasty mushy peas - not like the processed ones you often get. Absolutely perfect Friday night chippy tea lovely and hot - just what you need from a local chippy.

Ordered Fish & Chips for delivery. Bang on time, nice big chips and very tasty fish, well worth ordering again in the coming week.

2nd time they have ripped us off. Went in for the lunch deal, they claim they dont hear you clearly asking for the lunch special and charge you full price instead. Full price isn't worth it. Disgusting service.

Soft mushy chips. Pale. Not cooked long enough. Least the fish + gravy was OK.

As I live near by, I can't resist my fish & chips, mushy peas and mild curry! Always hits the spot and always so fresh! The staff are super friendly and the place is spotless. I know friends that travel over 3-4 miles away to come here. P.s. no money's changed hands for this post! Lol.

16/08/23: a huge portion of chips, lightly battered well done haddock, gravy and peas. The chips were fresh and tasty, the haddock was great and came as I asked for. It was a good size, flaky, fresh and chunky. However the batter was heavy and greasy and the peas were watery. Gravy wasn't too bad, but a bigger portion would have been better. Overall, I really enjoyed it.

Used to be good, chips not nice, gravy taste like microwave gravy and the price is expensive for what it is. Will not return I’m afraid.

Perfectly cooked lightly battered fish & chips.

This chippy was the best in the area a year ago, but of late they are either cooking at a lower heat or for less time in the fryer, the chips definitely need 5 minutes in the airfryer when you get home. But perfect to freeze and airfry when you want them.

The best chippy in the area by a country mile. Great food with good portion sizes. Always served piping hot and fresh. The staff are always very helpful as well. Highly recommended.

I have coeliac disease and have a serious reaction to gluten. I had fish & chips and absolutely no reaction. They have an excellent gluten-free choice. I'll be back👍

Twice I've ordered I've picked up two light lunch fish and chips peas cheese chips and gravy this place is getting worse I paid 24 pounds for rubbish and the cost of living crisis and you get service and rubbish food never again will I go to the white fish

Best fish and chips ive had so far! Ordered 2 portions tonight via uber eats There was 3 of us The portions were huge We still hve half a fish and full portion of chips left I loved them! Ur gonna be my regular chippy from now! Definitely beats all bury chippys! Shame i forgot to take pics!

We have a family member who allergic to gluten. He has now tried the gluten free battered fish which was crispy and perfectly cooked. Best meal he has had for years.

Served by miserable ginger with a face like thunder, not someone who should working in a shop facing the public.

Best around that is why it is so busy

Largest chip was just short of 2 inches not satisfactory

Excellent battered cod with chips

I had a "regular" fish, chips and peas. The fish was enormous, everything cooked to perfection. Fish was better than any of the local restaurants.

Never again !!! If you can’t get a simple order together why bother!. Absolute disgrace. Missing curry sauce. Bag looked like it had been fished out of a swimming pool, box soaking wet. Fish dripping in grease. Worse fish and chips experience ever

Been going there for a couple of months now excellent food quality cooked to order so it's not sitting in the heater, perfectly fresh and tasty staff are very friendly and helpful gets five stars from our family.

Always great Fish & Chips here. Fish always fresh, light batter. Chips never greasy. Lovely to have a small portion option too. My parents always come from Prestwich specially.

Great chippy with mega portion sizes (a large chips will feed at least 3 or 4 people) and all at reasonable prices. Brilliant friendly staff and accepts all major cards as well.

Damn! It's rare at the moment for takeaway food to be genuinely good or impress, this was epic. Really good, thick, soft well-coooked chips and nice haddock. Totally recommend this!

Do not use via Uber Eats. We ordered tonight and the food went via the houses, and took 35 mins to deliver. We are in Whitefield and the delivery went via Radcliffe, we know that Uber do multiple delivery's but this was a joke! We watched it all the way. We then rung up about the order, and the young girl on the phone said “nothing to do with us” well you use Uber eats to deliver your food. So it is. You make money from orders via Uber. The food was cold. Very upsetting as always liked the food, it was the not bothered attitude of a valued customer. We prefer most weeks, and will not be ordering again.

Delicious fish, lovely crispy batter, but amazing taste. All cooked fresh and to order, not so busy on a Wednesday evening. Friendly service and very polite. Homemade Cheese and Onion pie was recommended, but had a soggy bottom, flavour was nice though. Similarly I prefer chips much crisper (but that's often the case with many chippies) Portions are massive.

Trying, (mostly) to eat healthily, so Fish & Chips, on this occasion, was a somewhat rare treat. My wife and I ordered a lightly battered haddock each and one portion of chips and peas to share. The fish was beautifully cooked from fresh - batter was light and crispy, (that seems the way to go for us) - fish was as white as snow. However, whilst not a criticism as such, the portion size of chips was so overly generous, that 3/4, sadly ending up in the bin - great, if you can eat that much. Fish fying, is a time honoured tradition, with so few, these days, able to do it this well !

First time using this chippy due to visiting family nearby. Firstly food was very nice ( even though they got my order wrong). Secondly i thought the actual service was way to long. 35 mins form queuing up to leaving with food. I regularly visit my own local chippy and there service is a lot faster, even with uber eats etc constantly in and out.

Order placed at 11am for 5pm delivery by Uber eats, Fish chips and peas, not alot to get wrong but when delivered the chips were missing. Contacted the shop and was asked if I would like to come and collect the missing portion !!!

Called In today for Fish chips and peas. If I could score this place out of 100 I would give it 200. Food is beautiful and service is very polite and friendly. Best chip shop in my opinion

This is definitely the bast chipy I've ever been to. The Irish curry saurce is the best curry sauce in the world! . Home made Cheese and onion pie is again the best in the world. Fish an chicken cooked to perfection. You will not get a better chipy than white fish!

to the owners of the white fish in unsworth, can I please say a big thank you for the massive problem I had with Uber Eats, only for the white fish to rectify it at their own cost and delivery, I ordered £21.50 of food through uber eats, we watched the delivery driver on the computer take our food on a trip to Radcliffe, then onto bury then on to our street, (taking a 20minute car ride) the driver never got out of his taxi to deliver and we wern't sure if that was the car anyway, next came a message on the computer saying driver tried contacting us by phone twice, there were no missed calls on landline or mobile, just a yellow message on the computer saying driver could not deliver and we could not get a refund. I had no phone number for this driver so I phoned up the white fish, the manager and staff were so nice and helpful, telling me, that uber are only delivery drivers and nothing really to do with them, however these decent honest people from white fish, re did my order again , with no charge, and delivered it as well by one of their own staff, Iam amazed at the generocity of these people. The food was to die for, hot and fresh, the rag pudding was full of the nicest steak I have tasted. So Iam just writing this to thank everyone at the white fish for their kindess, and most of all taking my word for what happand with Uber. I will be down to see you next week sometime to pay you for the food you sent, as I do not want to see you out of pocket for Ubers mistakes. your food is supurb and is the best chippy going, Thank you so much again jackie

Great service. Good quality. Amazing curry I always prefer to have the small portion of fish and chips. It comes with a choice of peas gravy or curry and really well priced at £3.95. That’s decent portion and is served with good portion of chips. Really tasty fish and chips and really friendly and helpful staff. The best in the town! We found this place while we were on a walk in this area. From ououtside the place looks so neat & clean which made us buy some some fish & chips. Absolutely gorgeous! The fish is beautiful, chips are amazing & the chinese curry is yummy there is a tiny hint of spice which make it more tastier. Food is not too Greasy at all. Freshly fried fish & chips. Nice & friendly staff, well managed little shop. We are regular customers now! Once in every week we go there.

Love White Fish and the fact there's always a queue tells me everyone else does too! It's well worth waiting for though, freshly cooked fish and tasty chips. 5 stars
