I attended here quite often for meetings.

Excellent service and great food

I'd gone in for tea and was told that the wait would be at least 45 minutes because they had only just put the grill on, even though the food was advertised from 11am. We waited the 45 minutes to then find that they did not have something of the menu. The staff were nervous approaching the new kitchen manager but did anyway. They came back to tell us that the manage would not allow a substitution and were still expected to still pay the full price. For the sake of a small substitution, they lost our custom. Food and drinks. We won't be returning.

Food was delicious and the service was brilliant aswell. Would definitely recommend whistling goose.

Attended with a large family approx 16 Inc small children,very efficient staff ,nice and friendly especially to wayward grandchildren ..Huge mess at the end of an excellent meal ,but with a smile the staff jumped in and cleared up..We left with full stomachs and a smile too..Well done to all,will most certainly be back....

I took my two sons 26 & 10 out for a midweek meal, and was served by the lovely leanne at the restaurant on sutton fields , we wasn't waiting long for food and it was delicious 😋 Great thing too was the two main meals for basically the price of one. Great value for money x

Was open new year's day!, Great food, affordable and diverse menu. Excellent Service. Dog Friendly! Just what we needed after a cold walk on the beach.

Chose here because China red last Xmas Eve was hoovering and cleaning around our table once eaten as if to say thanks bog off now . Whistling goose was hoovering around us as we arrived and setting up for Xmas day service . Food was terrible . Meal cold and tortillas starter was burnt and all stuck together . Wasn't offered condiments or cutlery . Had to help ourselves from tables they were setting . I do understand no one wants to work Xmas Eve but this table was booked and in any case just don't bother opening . Queue at bar and one barperson serving . We weren't the only ones saying never again . Appalling service . Only gave 1 star because it wouldn't let me award zero

There was staff sat on a table next to us swearing and being loud and they was still on shift, the food wasn't great some of it was over cook and burnt other parts was uncooked there was no pump soft drinks there was no milk we even sore a member of staff come in with milk but it still wasn't available with hot drinks, slow table service when ording through the app we had to ask for utensils which then was that clean still had dishwasher stains on them, the only time staff was polite when when they give us a trip advisor card to write a reveiw, overall disappointed and we are now looking for somewhere else to have family meals

My Daughter chose this pub as a venue she wanted to celebrate her 18th Birthday as we had been before and it was familiar, it was going to be just a small gathering as we have a large family but ended up being more people wanting to come than expected, we initially booked for 13 but ended up with around 20 people, it wasn't a problem the staff dealt with it perfectly, I had wanted to bring some balloons to decorate the tables as it was a special occasion so I dropped them off earlier as a surprise for when we got there, the staff and manager were amazing, looking after them and even putting them out at our reserved area for our arrival, we spent a while ordering as there were many of us and they asked if we wanted the meals to come out similar times which they did so we could all eat together, we had made an 18th Birthday cake which they brought out to our table which was a lovely touch, we were constantly asked if all was ok and if we needed anything else. I'd like to thank all the staff and management for making my Daughters 18th a wonderful occasion, we all thoroughly enjoyed our food and time there and would highly recommend 🙂

Gave it another chance and as a place it kind of redeemed itself but still messed up by making someone one else pay our bill. Staff still lacking in many areas but the food was ediable

Upon arrival, the entrance doorway was blocked by several people. Their attitude and demeanour made us feel intimidated. We entered via another entrance where the floor looked more like a paddling pool. Asking a member of staff about the availability of food was answered abruptly with a no because we are short staffed. Needless to say, we left and will never return again.

Service was slower than we've experienced before here, and this was before it got busy for the rugby. Food was OK, but portion sizes have shrunk since our last visit. All in, ok for the money.

Nice to have a cheeky meal out for a change with the family Great food for all of us and desert too the biscoff cheesecake was really nice

Visited tonight on my own, with my dog. Had one of the new hotdogs and it was lovely. A nice addition to the menu. Staff were attentive and friendly.

Went there tonight with my family For me and my daughters birthday all our meals were fantastic and all different. The staff are super helpful and cannot do enough. Haven’t been for About six months, lovely food well cooked And presented. Will be coming back very very shortly. Thanks for a great evening.

Had the mix grill and it comes on a sizzling plate. It was fine enough for the money but the chips were luke warm as were the onion rings. My side of corn was pretty cold and didn't look cooked but they brought a replacement and it was fine. I made do with chips tbh as they were just hot. Versus a wetherspoon it was maybe better food but, overall the drink prices are higher and I would have been just as happy at my local 'spoons. Staff were pleasant enough and wait times were ok. Decor and furnishings were fine but they could do with topping up the cutlery and napkins at each table more often as we didn't have enough and the three other tables hardly had any either.

Celebrated my grandson’s birthday with a meal for the family. Great service and cracking atmosphere. Recommend a visit.

Food was cold, pastry too hard on the pies, gammon way too salty, unbelievable eggs ! Sent them back and they still brought over done eggs to our table. Will not be going back again, definitely need to sack the chef.

Sue is so caring and lovely. Even though the restaurant was very busy, she still found time to check on us regularly which really made the meal. We waited a while for food but that couldn't be helped considering the amount of people in - which makes the service Sue gave us even more exceptional. Thank you Sue!!!

It was really good the food was good and everything and the service was good but only reason why not 5 stars is because of the long wait for food because we ordered food at 5:50 and didn’t get food until 7:10 but all in all it was really good

We went on a busyish day and had a meal, food was really good and did not take as long as we thought it might, friendly staff and decent prices.

We sat in a nice quiet corner chose our food and ordered, our meals were brought to the table in good time by our server Ben who was very attentive and polite. I chose the XL mix grill my wife had the gammon and a couple of extra sides, both meals were fantastic the steak was cooked just right for me and we both cleared our plates. Just never left room for pudding lol Good price great meals will defo be back

Arranged a last minute Family Gathering for 24 at short notice,Food was pre ordered prior to our visit tomake things easier for both ourselves and the establishment. The service from the Bar staff to the waiting staff was fantastic and all friendly and were all very professional within their roles. The food was delicious and excellent for the value for money, There was plenty for the children to do on the grounds with outdoor activities to keep them amused and all in a Secure & Safe area!! This was my 1st visit here and will be certainly going again.

We arrived and the tables and floor area where we was seated (a party of 7 one os a 3 yr old child) was very dirty with old food everywhere. All the cutlery was dirty as where all the glasses 1 still had lipstick on it and a glass of wine was served in it. The food was average. Its not a place I will be visiting again thats for sure.

Worst dining experience ever!! Firstly given 3 tablets as there were a few of us. Before we sat down, I had to ask them to clean the peas, carrots and liquid of the bench seat. Also to sweep up the dozen or so chicken bones under the table. Ordered drinks from bar, only one person serving on a Sunday afternoon. Totally ridiculous as we had to wait approximately 20 minutes to be served. Then the drinks came in plastic not glass which I hate. Apparently glass washer washer. Everyone in our party received their meals. However, there were dozens of flies around the table, absolutely disgusting and landing on people's plates and food. You could see other customers around the dining area having the same problem with the flies. Myself and my partner were still waiting for our food whilst most of our party had finished theirs. Went to speak to staff, they said they would sort it. An hour and a half went by and still no meals arrived. We got our money back, still no meal. Absolutely fuming. They did give us a complimentary drink. No good if your hungry though is it!! WE WILL NEVER GO HERE AGAIN.

Very small portions for the price Basic food no real taste Flat bread was like wood was unable to cut it Pub was infested with flies everywhere Only one way to get out so had to go the opposite direction to home Dull and depressing atmosphere Staff where pleasant enough

The place needs a good deep clean, Myself and my family come here every now and again. We have not seen the place this dirty before. It was that bad we finished our drinks and went elsewhere and left the flys and staff to it.

Sorry to say, today. Staff were useless. Kids in pub bouncing off walls. And a complete drunk, in pub with blow up doll. Dropouts in white transit van.

Food pretty much cold when it arrived restaurant was swarming with flies had to move table and still made no difference still swarming with flies and when I told the staff all I got was there nothing they could do about it wouldn't recommend the place is really unhygienic and dirty

Came here tonight with the family ordered food at 5.50 and didn't receive anything till 8pm the management team are disgusting with the place is run and food came out cold. The only great thing tonight was the these two waitresses Laura and leanne went above and beyond to help us with getting our food and drinks they made a the evening worth while great work girls

A really nice pub that we use occasionally on a lunchtime,it's always clean and comfortable. I find the food to be excellent pub fayre always nicely presented. I do recommend that you make sure there is a kitchen chef on if you visit outside peak periods. The staff are pleasant., helpful and efficient. There is a wide choice of beers to suit all tastes. The pub is situated on the outskirts of an industrial park but the views are extremely pleasant, you'd think you were in the country. Well worth a visit if you're a pub menu fan.

Hour wait on food - to wait or leave, especially with hungry kids- had to leave and go elsewhere

We had 2 meals off the classic menu and I had the spicy vegetable flatbread. We were all very happy with the food which was delicious. The vegetable flatbread was beautiful and I'd definitely come back for that again. EDIT: the options for plant based meals has been limited with the new menu that came in during early April 2024. The vegetable flatbread has been removed and replaced with meat or cheese options and the main classics menu only has one option which is a vegetarian option minus the cheese. This option was ok but a bit stodgy for me, so I ordered a plain flatbread with the dressed salad as a compromise which was actually really nice. I went in recently with family and ordered it again to find that I'd been given half a flatbread. When I asked about it, I was told that this was part of the changes brought in with the new menu, and that all flatbreads on the menu were half ones, except a) I've been ordering this since April and it's never been cut in half, b) the menu doesn't say it's a half, and c) the pictures of the flatbreads are full ones on the menu. I'm really quite disappointed tbh because I really liked this place, but without any real choice of plant based meals, it's just not as good a choice for us to go eat as a family anymore. The staff are usually great and the location is very convenient for us. I just wanted to eat something plant based that was filling and not going to make me want to sleep afterwards. My family have no personal complaints about their personal choices of food, but were a bit gutted to see that the one choice I loved had been rationed. Quite often vegan options at restaurants are light on the spiciness for some reason, but this had a really good level of heat. The staff were lovely and helpful, an all-round excellent experience. Was my first time back in about in about 10yrs. Was somewhat surprised how it hadn't changed much since the last time I was there. Menu has changed for the better ( more choice). Food looks good and it was tasty, my only draw back was that I had a hair in my food and they did happily took it back and I was made a fresh meal. Even though I had waited 1hr and 10mins for the first one, so I had to wait another 20mins for the second one to come out. Though all in all great service and friendly staff, (just need to be on the ball a little better in regarding times as we was told 45mins wait for our order). I will go again not sure when as its not really a pub we go in, but great that the menu has changed for the better.

Just been to this pub once again, not impressed this time, monday 13th may 2024, drinks ok but dirty glasses, dirty cutlery, wonky table, food....garlic mushrooms( no garlic) Eggs under cooked & real snotty...otherwise not too bad...will be giving this place a wide berth from now on......used to be decent....

We were a party of 14 and every meal that arrived was excellent. The staff were lovely and helpful. We had a very nice evening, all of us said we would have no hesitation with going back.

My family and I went for a Sunday meal here a few weeks ago and thoroughly enjoyed it so my ma, sis and I went back today for our dinner. My ma ordered a beef lasagne but barely ate any of it because she said there wasn't any meat only pasta nor did she like the garlic bread as it was too dry. My sis ordered steak on flatbread which she enjoyed and I ordered the southern fried chicken on flatbread. I explained to the staff I was lactose intolerant and they reassured me no mayo would be put on the dish. The chicken and salad was lovely but the flatbread was tough to cut, even using a knife. However, the place is always clean, polite staff and welcoming atmosphere. If we go again there's plenty of other options on the menu we can try.

Called in as was passing. Great menu choices and staff were lovely. Prices were great. Food was quickly served but it was microwaved and a little dry. Would visit again though.

We are very frequent customers there :-) Few years ago, I stopped going to whistling goose as the food was not great, often was sent back to the kitchen, which I hate doing. However few months ago we ended up there and decided to grab a steak. And wow.... The food is always great, steak on point each time. Love everything on sizzling plates! Whatever they did and changed in the kitchen- it's working! Been going back constantly for few months now- not once was I disappointed ☺️ and the prices... are sooo good, I organised 2 birthday parties there too. Stephanie (hope I remember right), she is so friendly and lovely. Always serving with a smile. Definitely worth going, especially if you are a family.

After waiting for more than an hour for the food to arrive: Sunday rost beef tasted like processed meat The mixed grill: The stake although arrived rare as requested but not rested enough very chewie and blood seeping out on the plate The chicken was watery and flaky like a portion of fish The white of one egg was runny and un cooked . Will not go there again

Very poor !!!! The manager on shift on Monday 19th February was dishonest, sly and very unprofessional We ordered our food and the order was read back to us When the food came out part of the order was missing To which we mentioned to the staff member Who was apologetic and said ill get a manager The manager came over with the missing sides and said it wasn't put on the order but we've done it this time anyway for you We said thank you After meals we orderd some deserts at the bar served by the manager The order sounded expensive considering was only 2 deserts So we questioned it, the manger stuttered and said its right so thought just pay and take her word, We went back to our table and looked at the price knowing full well it wasn't right so went back over to the manager to which she stuttered again acting like she didn't know why and what had happend to then saying oh I added the missing sides on which we brought out as they wasn't paid for and missed of the food bill ...... how she did this was very sly And extremely unprofessional And especially coming from management is disgraceful She should of said in the 1st place unfortunately your sides haven't been added to your order Am i ok to add the outstanding cost onto your desert bill But sly and disrespectfully she just added it on in hope we wouldn't notice We would of been happy to pay But how the situation was handled and the fact she came over and said it wasn't added but we've done them anyway this time for you Is a indication that its a gesture of good will Very poor Food was cold and management need retraining

Called in for our tea very nice came early so it was quiet. The food was lovely. Haven't been for a very long while . Called in on the off chance was really surprised how it had improved. Been back twice in the last month.
