Under new ownership, cakes are fantastic freshly baked. Cheesecake best I've tasted. Hot beef sandwiches with proper home made chips to good to describe! Been back and had all day breakfast lovely food and good value for money. Will be back and can highly recommend.

Went in their opening week. Food is absolutely gorgeous. Got the burger and chips couldn’t fault it. My son had cheesy chips(proper chips) was also beautiful. And don’t ask me about the cheesecake. It is definitely the best I have ever had. Will definitely be back.

My work mate and I come across this cafe when working in the area. We where looking forward to it as you could pick your own 8 items which was spot on. The breakfast is described as freshly cooked to order....I very much doubt that as the bacon wasn't even cooked. It was pink and the fat was still raw. The sausages I can't even describe as they where the weirdest looking colour and tasted revolting. The scrambled eggs where full of water and flooded the tray. The hash brown was burnt to a crisp. £4.80 for this breakfast you would expect high quality.

Never, ever again. Apologies, but the service was less than pleasant. The food qaulity appalling. Veggies should be fresh, not tinned. Yes, truly! Tinned vegetables and the meat; wherever they purchase .... Have never eaten such dire tasteless stringy chicken, ever. Didn't know meat like this still existed. Prices may be low, but sure their trade would increase if they bought quality ingredients and learned how to peel vegs and cook. This is most definitely the worst meals we've ever eaten for years. A previous comment describes the cafe as 'charming' They must surely be confused, or a friend of the proprietor, as this is greasy spoon land, minus good service, pleasant surroundings and even edible food.

Although the price was cheep, the value still wasn't worth it. Gristly chicken, flavourless veg. Very disappointed. Sorry but it really needs improving. Better quality ingredients would really help.

We had fish bites (generous portion of large fish "chunks"), large sausage, chips, gravy, peas and scraps! It was a lovely treat to have and take onto the beach nearby to eat. Really friendly chap who served me.

Now called the Charcoa Carvery since its refurb recently and I was impressed with the new decor which was luxurious and classy. The staff were pleasant and eager to assist and for all it was Sunday lunchtime there was no queu to get served and plenty of choice re seating arrangements for all we had not booked. I chose the turkey which was perfect and my family all had beef which they enjoyed. There was a good selection of vegetables (even salad if we had wanted it) but I did find it difficult to access the veges as there is nowhere to put your plate down and you need one hand to open the lid and another to serve the veges. Also the containers at the back of the vegetable servery were very inaccessible - this must have been designed by a very tall person with no regard for shorter customers and anyone with a disability or only able to use one hand would have been at a severe disadvantage. Also we never discovered the sauces until we returned to select our dessert as the sauces are set aside from the actual carvery and vegetable area. In the past you paid at the end and it was all the same price. Now you buy a ticket at the beginning but the meals are more expensive than the carvery selection so how do you know what you actually want until you are at the servery and by then its too late - you have either paid for carvery or paid for a meal so that is a strange set up I found. BUT getting back to the food and that was good, plentiful and hot. It is described as the 'ultimate carvery' and I think that is rather optimistic - its tasty and the ambience is lovely but a few practical tweaks in my opinion are needed. at the vegetable servery and make customers aware that the sauces are available. I enjoyed my trio of mini desserts and the assistant brought the hot drinks to the table when she had made them. A pleasant afternoon while the piano man played in the background.

Ordered two 'Croque Monsieur' and what arrived was two ham and cheese toasties lathered in poor quality English mustard? Why English Mustard? With stale crisps and wilted lettuce. Very poor and given the price quite surprising, especially given that there are numerous much nicer cafés in the city. Staff rather surly as well.
