Wow amazing food, we turned up on Mother’s Day and sat in the beer garden. All dinners had been booked out (understandable on Mother Day) so we couldn’t eat. Nevertheless it was a nice day, the restaurant had a lovely spacious beer garden so we took full advantage. A cancellation had lead to us being able to have a Sundays roast, it did not disappoint. The two waitress’ , Molly and Nicole gave amazing service. Would highly recommend 10/10

My partner and I called in for a drink here last night (28th Sept) and then returned for a meal. The staff were all very welcoming and when we ate, the food was lovely. We had prawn cocktail and garlic mushrooms as starters, followed by lasagne and chicken and pasta with cheesy garlic bread to share for mains. Personally, my only complaint was that I couldn’t eat all of my pasta as I was too full and, even worse, too full to try the stem ginger sponge 😩 we’re planning on returning and having a child’s pasta portion in order to remedy this lack of pudding! 😂

No contract details for track and trace EVER collected. Young male server walking around inside and out with his mask around his chin the entire 1 hour we were there. Asked for menu 3 times before we were given one. Asked for water without ice. drink arrived with ice. Parents asked to keep their children close by. In fact the children gathered at the bottom of the steps where hot food and drinks were carried over their heads. Toilets rotten loo paper all over the floor. The fan in the ladies was covered in dirt so much so I thought it was fur.

My wife and I had Sunday lunch at this ph and must say it was very nice. We booked a table for 1pm and were seated straight away and our drinks order taken. We both had starters of garlic mushrooms and potato skins with 3 x meat main courses ordered by both of us. The food arrived promptly and was hot and nicely cooked. The service was very good and the restaurant was soon full by 130pm. There is easy parking to the side of the ph and the bar is dog friendly. The only reason I gave 4/5 is that I prefer mashed potato instead of boiled potatoes and mashed turnip instead of cabbage. Would I return - definitely, well worth a visit.

Bland food. Cold restaurant and warm wine. I had such high Hope's. And was disappointed. Wont return. Tomato pizza garlic bread cold and not fresh garlic. Left horrible taste in mouth. Pizzas very bland indeed and stodgy base and not enough tomato. No parmesan or black pepper offered. Chips were cooked in old fat. Inedible. Wine was warm. Asked for a chilled one and was offered a an ice cube!! No no no. Sorry not a winner for me.

Staff friendly and helpful and we decided to stay and have a meal. Within about 10 mins the restaurant began to fill up and by the time we left was packed. We went for a Thai curry which we enjoyed. Only thing that could have improved it would have been the option of sticky rice. Staff were great and we will be returning.

We ordered sticky toffee pudding with custard for dessert and it was gorgeous! Kids played in the massive beer garden and made some new friends. The only negatives I have are the toilets need updating urgently and the beer garden needs to be maxed out to its full potential. So much space, you could fit a lot of children’s play equipment. Had a lovely meal here on Friday. The king prawn starter came with a delicious coconut and sweet chilli sauce - I wish they would sell it in bottles! The mains were piping hot and again delicious. I had beef stroganoff and although for my taste I would have liked a little more paprika, it was still one of the best stroganoffs I've ever eaten and the meat was really tender. Hubby didn't manage to eat all his pizza so brought the leftover home and he enjoyed it just as much for lunch on Saturday! The waiter was well-mannered and efficient, and the background music was at the right volume not to be intrusive. We have no hesitation in recommending Nonna's.

We turned up at the time we booked our table to find out that there was no record of our booking so two small tables were quickly put together. There was a fiftieth birthday party in the conservatory and a few kids were running about. We also noticed a poster stating that there was live music at 8.30.Two of us ordered garlic mussels as a starter and one ordered the black pudding stack. Both starters were very tasty and as I had decided not to have a starter I wish I had ordered one.Three of us chose the rib eye steak and I chose to have the mix grill. The rib eyes were one of the best tasting steaks my family have had,the mix grill had everything but the kitchen sink on the plate, but the biggest thumbs up was the HOME MADE chips and PROPER onion rings in a crispy batter.I could not finish off my meal as I was stuffed. The only off putting thing was that we had to ask for our plates to be cleared but I think that extra tables were being put out for the birthday party could be accomodated.

We've popped in here a few times over the past few months and always had a nice meal. Ok so it's a bit pricey but if it's good then I don't mind the price. So today we called in for Sunday lunch. I had chicken wings for starters. They looked awful, I think the chicken must have been anaemic before it died. To be fair they tasted ok but presentation left a lot to be desired.I had the pork loin and my better half had the beef.It was served with roast potatoes, a slice of carrot, a teaspoon of swede and a Yorkshire pudding. The veg was served separately in a dish and consisted of some kind of cauliflower cheese slop, red cabbage and this green stuff that had something to do with peas. The meat was tough almost tasteless and the veg, well I'd rather delete that from my memory. It wasn't great to be honest and we did tell the waitress who told us the chef was new and they had received a few comments. Not all positive either. So the bill came to £34.00 including 2 cokes. The place was empty when we arrived at 2.00pm and no one else came in whilst we were sat.We won't be back.

It was hard - dried out - tough - it has to be the worst yorkshire pudding ever. If only they would change this, the whole experience would be so much better. It's not difficult - the frozen foods section of any supermarket has yorkshires that cook from frozen in 4 minutes - how hard is that. Sorry to go on, but it's not just me has noticed. We always considered the Wheatsheaf to serve the best Sunday Carvery in the area so were very disappointed when we returned to find they no longer have a carvery on a Sunday. However, we ordered two Sunday Roasts from the Menu expecting the same quality. When the food arrived it was a good sized portion, however, the food was mediocre and the yorkshire pudding was so hard and crisp you couldn't cut into it. The pub has recently been refurbished albeit to a high standard, however, we felt the quality of the food let it down. The other thing to note is that their website is out of date and a Sunday Roast is now £12 for one course. We had a pint of beer, a coke and two roasts - total cost just short of £30. On the day we ate there no way did it justify the price. When we mentioned the price discrepancy the guy we spoke to wasn't interested and said 'they were having trouble with the website provider'? Very disappointed - Bring back the Sunday Carvery!

Today we phoned for a table of three, they fitted us in and were made very welcome on arrival. We were told it was a Sunday menu only today. We each ordered a different main meal and we were not disappointed. Great Yorkshire puds lots of gravy and more than enough vegetables. Meats were a good cut. Two of us has a great dessert to. Overall a great lunch, thanks Kelly.

Went for meal with daughter and friends, daughter did not like sausages on children',s menu so I tried one and bit into a tooth size bit of bone. I pointed this out to the waitress who took it to the chef who dismissed it as just a piece of gristle. My friend then bit into his chicken kebab and found a bone in it which was again shown to the waitress who said this would be pointed out to the chef and manager. When the bill arrive there was no mention of a discount but this was not the object of our complaintOn paying for the meal the manager had no knowledge of the complaints so the waitress was clearly lying to us, I was offered a discount by the manager but I declined as I told her I just was pointing out the poor quality of the food from her supplier,I cannot recommend this venue until they resolve the issues with their supplier

My partner popped in here somewhat on a whim on Saturday. Neither of us had been in before but we will certainly be back! The food was absolutely fabulous, the service was great, the pub was lovely and clean (we sat in the conservatory area) and we were both really impressed with the whole set up - the gardens looked great and had good play equipment and a bouncy castle for the kids too. Food wise, we both commented that they were possibly the nicest home made chips we'd ever had. Often when you see chunky chips that like in a pub you usually get only a handful, or they're undercooked, however they were LOVELY here and a fabulous portion size too. I had the fish and chips (one of my stable dishes I usually pick when I'm eating out) and I must also say that the fish was lovely, the tartare sauce was also possibly the nicest I've ever had and I must say the novel use of the pea plant itself as salad was excellent as well. Something I'd never seen before and despite usually leaving all salad items(!), this was actually surprisingly nice!! :-)We will definitely be back!

I love this quirky little restaurant in Chester - Le - Street. A great value lunch. The food was excellent, well prepared and served. All the staff that we met were very friendly and efficient and made us feel welcome. We chose from the standard menu and the daily specials and all the courses were served in a timely manner. Fantastic little restaurant.I had the chicken liver parfait, red onion marmalade to start with followed by the lamb and both dishes were excellent and good sizes too! One of my friends had the sea bass, which she said was superb!Great work guys thank you so much.

Yet again another excellent meal, been a few times during the week so we decided to try the Sunday lunch and it has to be the best I've had. I ordered the beef which was lovely and so were all the trimmings, my boyfriend went for the wheatsheaf burger he said it was amazing. We wanted to have a dessert but unfortunately we were far too full.

Went along for a few drinks in garden and decided to grab a bite while we where there. We decided on the sliders which are three mini burgers done three different ways with homemade chunky chips, we decided to not have blue cheese on one of the burgers as we are not big fans but each burger was delicious. We shared the burgers between two of us but it could easily be a meal for one. Service was welcoming and friendly. Would definitely recommend.

You know when you find something great you wounder whether you should tell everybody or try and keep the secret to yourself. The best steak and ribs I have had in the UK so far. Travelled all the way from Leicester but well worth it. Lets start with the starters the wings and ribs. Both succulent and well cooked. The ribs where so nice and well cooked, the meat just melted in my mouth. The quality of the meat was 10/10.On to the main course ordered 4 different steaks between us all perfectly cooked to our liking and the sauces where awesome too.If you are a chip lover you will fall in love with these bad boys, nice chunky and cooked to perfection. Finally the service was also 10/10.Staff and management very nice and welcoming. With a lot of morals and values. The service was incredible all night long.Thank you so much for a wonderful evening, we'll definitely be all back soon.

The establishment has just been refurbished and appears very clean, however, although it is a dog friendly pub, I was very put off by the number of dogs that were allowed to just roam around the bar not on a lead. several times I had to ask the owners of the dogs to stop them jumping on the chairs and basically standing on my jacket that was beside me. Each time the waitress came through from the restaurant area the dogs would run in to the eating area. overall a very bad experience and I do like dogs.

Had a lovely evening meal here. We'd been three years or so ago and it was very tired. The new owners have it just right. A friendly, smiling welcome from the landlord and extremely helpful waitress. Good food and very good value. Two real ales, nicely kept. Good choice of wines by the glass. Recommend the ham hock terrine with lovely home-made pease pudding, and excellent soup. Lunchtime specials till five thirty. The food isn't as good as - say - Eslington Villa, and the ambience can't match Latimer's at Whitburn - but for a local pub, it is spot on. We'll become regulars.

The food here is excellent since the recent refurbishment. Wife and I dined here during the first weekend in April. The starters and mains were excellent. The only thing is the home made rolls were a bit hard. If they were soda bread they never said.Apart from that great food at a great price.THe restaurant deserves more custom. It is far better than the Barley Mow just up the road and not far behind the Lambton worm

My wife and I dropped by for Sunday lunch. We knew the place had been refurbished recently and wanted to try it for a while. The new dining area, separate to the bar, is very well decorated and laid out. The conservatory gives it a light, and roomy feel. The Sunday menu is a mix of a la carte favourites and a classic roast with a difference. We started with deep fried brie for my wife and risotto balls for me. Both excellent and the risotto balls clearly being made by the team and not mass produced.Mains were a chicken supreme roast and a pork belly roast both with a deep, rich, gravy and veg which is not out of a packet.I cannot praise it enough. Wholesome, hearty, good value and very very tasty. A clear step up from a pub lunch at the cost of a good sunday roast. We will be back.

We visited the newly refurbished Wheatsheaf on Saturday lunchtime for a family celebration. We all had excellent meals and were particularly impressed by the chef's presentation of the food. Everyone in the group thoroughly enjoyed the occasion. No-one could find any fault with our meals and the portion sizes were very generous. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. I highly recommend The Wheatsheaf and am looking forward to returning there again soon.
