Came here for a meal with family. The food was great, I had the steak and ale pie. The pub had a lovely atmosphere and the staff made it very welcoming

me and my friends all went to the wheatsheaf today for lunch and it was an amazing decision to go there, the waitress Allie was awesome nothing was too much for her and made our experience as easy as possible, give her a pay rise, will be definitely go back again.

Had a lovely meal. Good variety of dishes to choose from. Service is efficient & friendly. Quiz night was fun. Evie a great, cheerful host.

Super night of food & drinks. Quiz night is always great fun and the Quiz Mistress is a hoot! If we win the quiz I will definitely give a five star review¡¡!!!!!!!!!!

This is a short one. I won’t be frequenting this place again! Pubs whine and complain about lack of trade …..no wonder with greedy overcharging hosts like this. Kirk Ella is a nice, and affluent village but that does not mean you can fleece all of your customers, many who aren’t quite as affluent. My Wife went to the bar, she normally goes with the prices, she isn’t quite as offended by being ripped off as I. Even she was shocked at having to pay £15 for a large glass of wine and a pint of flat cider. It’s not on….they are just pricing things as high as they can, to see what they can get away with. People vote with their feet….I suggest you make changes before you lose all of your custom.

Visited the Wheatsheaf kirk ella, for our Christmas Dinner, our third year running. Again, excellent friendly service, excellent food. The whole team continually worked hard to make everyone's day, Special. 🥂👌 🌟 For us to have such a lovely experience/evening, they all sacrifice their own day with family and for that, we are very very greatful. My husband and I visited for lunch it’s not the first time we have been and as always the food was excellent it came hot and on time even though it was very busy. Staff very pleasant and attentive would definitely recommend a visit .

We have been here many times before in fact my family and myself are on there website, so we attended on Sunday for a pre Christmas get together. It was 2pm so still early in the day, out of the 6 of us 3 wanted the meatpie, only to be told they didn't have any!,so we all had turkey, soon after us ordering they also ran out of turkey, leaving only a butternut squash meal and something else,,2 couples sent there meals back because they were cold. Overall it was very disappointing unfortunately.

We booked a table for 10 so preordered our food. The food came out in a reasonable time and was excellent quality. All the meals were presented well and were hot and fresh. Staff well friendly and attentive, will definitely be returning.

We've enjoyed several visits at the Wheatsheaf this year and pleased to say it always hits the spot. It's lovely to have a friendly pub on our doorstep, with attentive staff who really do welcome you. My wife and I had Sunday roasts, absolutely fantastic meat with an assortment of tasty vegetables (carrots, parsnips, peas. French beans, peas and red cabbage), as well as roast potatoes. The meat and Yorkshire pudding made the full meal very filling and excellent value. The pub looks very good decked out in November with Christmas decorations, how wonderful! Look forward to eating here again - a great place. Just hope you keep this up, as you've hit the spot I think of there finally being a decent eatery in Kirk Ella.

Me and my boyfriend came for the first time after it being recommended to him by someone from work and wow! Firstly the staff were amazing, so friendly and helpful and all had a smile on their face. The food was amazing, so flavourful and not dry at all. The venue itself is so nice. The only negative I would have to say is that the drinks were fairly expensive in our opinion but we can look past that and will definitely be visiting again!

Family of 6 visited on a lovely Sunday. I was the awkward one that never had the Sunday dinner. The other 5 did and all said it was spot on. I must admit I wish I'd had it. Anyhow I ordered fish & chips, which I've had before but to my astonishment I could clearly see that a quarter of the fish had been cut off. To be fair it was gorgeous but I feel hard done by, as usual a full fish is plated up. I will bring this up next time I visit.

Had a great meal and few drinks here. The team was very friendly and I enjoyed the fact we could eat in one side of the pub then moved into the bar. Really enjoyed everything about this visit.

First visit while in the area to see my son. Chose it after checking Trip Advisor for a dog friendly pub. Turned out to be an excellent decision. Lovely large pub that was spotlessly clean and appealing. Food was very good and reasonably priced. It was quiz night which made for a good atmosphere but also noisy. I would have liked to have been told when booking. I think it was a little under staffed as some of the staff appeared to be stressed. Overall a very nice pub that I would certainly recommend.

I emailed the premises first as I do not like to leave a bad review without giving the business a chance to respond. No reply as yet We booked a special birthday Sunday lunch for 12.30pm. When we arrived we were served promptly with drinks and the staff were pleasant. There were a few empty tables, so they were not too busy at the time we arrived. Firstly, we knew we had the table for 2 hours, but because the main meal took at least 45 minutes, we felt rushed after finishing our sweets and coffees to leave the table for the next booking. The food was mediocre, mainly the Yorshires and troast potatoes were hard and over cooked, although a nice selection of vegetables, they were cold, which we did mention but the staff member just said "sorry" The beef was nice, but the pork, both my parents had was very thinly sliced and scrappy, more like sandwich filling, their crackling was so hard they could not eat it, if they tried they may have had to require expensive dentisry work. The the stuffing was also dry and tasteless. Best part was the gravy and no complaints about the desserts. All in all, really not worth over £15 for a roast

I found the Wheatsheaf a Nice Pub Restaurant, but unfortunately our Sunday Lunch was sooo Disappointing eg Over Cooked Hard Potatoes as were the Bland Parsnips and Carrots, the 'Stuffing Ball' was Inedible and the only 'thing' on the plate that was nice were the Turkey and Yorkshire Pudding and it was about 5 mins in to beginning my meal when eating the Yorkshire Pudding that I was asked by an Assistant if "if everything is ok", if only she had waited a little longer, perhaps my mistake but I will not be making the mistake of visiting the Wheatsheaf again!

Bit disappointing today. Service was quite slow. We all ordered Sunday roasts but then were told they had run out of Yorkshire puddings..at 4pm? They managed to find 3 so 2 of us shared one but they weren't that good. Ten minutes later other customers were being served lovely big fresh yorkies! If we had known they were making more we would have waited but we didn't get that option. On the plus side the food was nice enough & staff very polite & friendly. Don't think we will rush back.

Lively pub that was clearly popular, although perhaps because most of the clientele had been given promotional vouchers! Good choice on the menu for both food and drink and their app meant I could order from my table. Would return :)

So….. was in the area today and myself and partner decided to see if we could get in last minute for a Sunday lunch (we didn’t have much hope as the place was extremely full) and as luck would have it, there was a reserved table however a server named Kaitlin had explained that if we didn’t mind, we could sit at a reserved table however it was due to be used at 15:30 (we arrived at 13:30) so we happily obliged. We ordered 2 x Sunday roast and it came fairly quickly - within a half hour I would say and I was shocked that they were able to manage it what with how busy it seemed to be. Great atmosphere, lovely food and Kaitlin along with the other members of staff made sure our every need was tended to. We felt like our custom was actually welcomed which is more than I can say for some pub eateries in the area. Really couldn’t find a single thing to even nit pick over. Thanks to Kaitlin and the staff for getting us in last minute and still managing to make sure that we didn’t feel rushed and that we had everything we needed. Great place.

The Wheatsheaf had a power outage meaning they were unable to sell their Sunday dinners. They very kindly donated them to a homeless hostel in Hull… There were 60+ very happy service users! They said it’s the most delicious food they have eaten for years....
