Visited for lunch. It was extremely quiet. Food was nice, but portion size was small. More like a light bite menu.

Absolutely disgusting attitude from the manager today Sarah, Sunday the 11th August at 15 41. Childs meal was taken down incorrectly and the portion size was tiny, counted six chips on the plate although it was ordered from the larger childs menu. It was also logged as a vegi burger when a beyond burger was ordered. The manager came out confrontational and rude, walked off without resoving anything. My daughter had to phone from the garden to ask what was happening. She answered the phone and attitude changed when she knew it was us. My daughter asked her why she walked off and hadn't resolved it. She answered in a rude and abrupt voice, I forgot to come out to you. Shouted at us saying saying did the server repeat back to you your order, i think she did. She did not deal with the situation in a professional manner at all. We were went at fault, the order was written down wrong by the server but she spoke and acted so disrespectful. Disgusting behaviour will not be eating here again. Do not order the kids menu you will come home starving

I came for a meal this evening where nothing was of any bother for the bubberly girl behind the bar Our plate was missing some items and the girl on the bar sorted it for us which was kind of her. The service from her was spot on and everything was cleared away so we could order some puddings by the same girl. I wish I caught her name but I didn’t sorry.

We sat to eat as a family, all ordered at the same time using the app. My partner's dish came out around 10 minutes before anyone else's finally came out. The table behind us had the same issue and they were told that they are sorry but they have had multiple orders all come in at once. Considering the restaurant was around 20/30% full and most of the diners were already eating I didn't find this a valid reason for a Saturday lunch time where they should be much busier

I came with my friends today for drinks and lunch and was served by Sarah and Eileen on the bar who both have great serve. The food was spot on and the dessert was amazing.

Came for dinner with the family and the food was delicious. Service was spot on and staff friendly. Drink deal and burger deal went down a treat by my dad and he enjoyed his ice cream as usual. Service spot on and a great team

Jamie and Ziggy were lovely. We came to the pub at 8:30pm on a Tuesday, the kitchen was closed but they kept it open for us as we came from Spain and were very hungry. They were very hospitable and the food was good.

Jamis was Amazing servicer of food was great jamie even adapted the puddings to suit my autistic children's needs well impressed

Charlie was an excellent waiter, very friendly and happy.

We were served our food by Jo who was extremely friendly. She catered to all of our needs and was happy to help. She even took the time to talk to my little girl and got her some crayons so she was able to colour in her activity sheet. She even took the time to come back and check that everything was OK with our food. I feel she went above and beyond with being friendly and super helpful which made our visit extremely welcoming.

The staff are so amazing even when football is on and super busy, looked after and could not do enough for you, manger works great with her team

Hosted the England game, offered a great experience, was packed but offered superb and speedy service - and accommodated our needs perfectly. Would recommend!

Table for 30+ service was fast and all staff was friendly and welcoming

The service was very good especially the waitresses jo who made us feel very welcome and was friendly and helpful throughout our meal and time drinking in the pub.

Good food for a good price, the poor order taker was swamped, being the only one to take orders while simultaneously serving drinks. More counter staff would be great to distribute the workload and increase efficiency in taking orders.

I came here for few drinks and bit of food with some work colleagues. I can honestly say what a lovely place . Food was very reasonably priced and the fish and chips was lovely … Drinks was so cheap considering today’s prices in pub. Staff was all lovely . The young girl Lola served our food and came to check everything was ok . We will definitely be coming back

I came here for a family meal. The food was lovely excellent value for money. The menu has got a brilliant variety. The service was really good. All staff was very attentive and polite. We will definitely be returning

We came here last night and had an amazing evening using the pool tables. The staff were so welcoming and provided excellent service unfortunately I cannot remember there names but they were all so lovely.

Came here for a quiet drink with my sister . We couldn’t get a taxi home and the lovely girl daisy worked there offered to give us a lift home. Will definitely coming back as not been before but that was such good sevice and drinks so reasonable

Now on my 4th visit in less than a month not sure what the negative reviews on about... Edit: I can't tell you how many times I've been here but.... Wow amazing friendly staff and a new amazing menu, my favourite place to eat. Well done wheatshef and thank you Matt for our great service today (11/10/22) !!! Edit: 30th of May 2024, I'd avoid ordering the ultimate big combo, I feel this is a rip off, it's described as an "abundance of food" we received 1 chicken goujon, 1 chicken strip 3 onions rings and 2 nuggets, salad and chips and plain nachos no sauces. When we complained the chef insisted that is how it comes out. Yet the menu also describes "goujons & chicken fillets" except when you receive it there is no "S" at the end. We finally got the abundance though by complaining and the sauces for the nachos. Sadly I think the chef might need to review the menu and spelling if that is how it comes out.

Very nice evening meal Bailey was very helpful in sorted meal adjustment out. Jazz in the Kitchen cooked it perfectly. Great value for money especially using Blue Light Discount card. Would recommend thank you.

Have visited many times before but tonight's service was particularly special, Stacey went out of her way to ask me how I would like my drink, even suggesting my preferred way which I took her up on, it was delicious.

Went for Sunday lunch as we have recently moved to the area and thought the deal advertised was very good. When we arrived the man at the til said ‘alright mate ?’ I told him we had booked a table for 3pm to which he said oh you booked? She can deal with that and pointed to a lady who said follow me pointed at a table and then left. It was freezing next to sun open door and we asked if we could sit somewhere warmer and she directed us to another table. I have to add that it was May bank holiday Sunday 3pm and I wondered why the place was empty . Anyway we got our own cutlery and hubby went to the bar to order drinks and food as directed by the waitress and once again the man behind the bar said alright buddy what do you want? We both ordered the roast turkey. The picture on the menu showed a lovely full big plate of food with a large Yorkshire lots of veg and thick sliced turkey. When it arrived the turkey was two slices of round processed turkey on a roll a tiny frozen Yorkshire a spoon of mash two tiny roast potato’s a burnt stuffing ball and gravy in a small gravy boat that when you poured it it was so thick and black it was like treacle. In retrospect I really wish I had taken a picture . The entire meal filled less then half of the plate. After leaving most of it we ordered pudding as we were both hungry . I ordered apple and berry crumble which turned out to be just apple crumble and hubby ordered a donut desert that was dry and stale. Not once did anyone ask if the food was ok. I now realise why the restaurant was almost completely empty on a bank holiday. Shame as the restaurant itself is in a lovely area and has a lovely big beer garden and car park. The staff need training on how to welcome paying customers and the chef needs better instruction on food presentation and obviously only knows how to operate a microwave

Popped in here for a £5 meal, however my wife and I decided to go for the classic meal deal. Chicken Parmigiana and Steak & Ale pie. Two bottles of Beer. Total price £19.49 Fantastic value, excellent quality and great Customer service thank you to Tasha & Bailey.

We come here a fair bit and last few times we have had good experiences. The most recent one we went here for a meal as it was my wife's birthday meal with family. We took her parents who had never been before and they also very much enjoyed it. The staff were great the food came out very quickly and was pipping hot. We had puddings too. Only thing I dislike is the whole restaurant is well overdue a revamp

Manager needs to learn how to talk to people with at least an ounce of respect and sort her attitude out. It’s a shame because the rest of the staff are absolutely lovely.

Came out to Wheatsheaf for lunch today, was severed by Stacey who was really friendly and helpful. Had the fish and chips was cooked perfectly, hats off to the chefs Scott and Bradley. Will definitely be coming again!!

Came yesterday for drinks very busy, staff was so friendly and polite

A basket of food tasted awful and very greasy. Asked to have a refund. Told they are cooked I'm fat. (Not the best explanation) also told there policy is to offer a replacement. I explained that my son has been put off eating them now. And we were now leaving. Then told we could have a free pudding. Explained again we were leaving and could we please have a credit note etc. Was told no. customer service was shocking. I wS polite and calm throughout but they couldn't understand we needed to leave and did not want to sit as a group whilst 1 person ate a pudding. It was a nice place to eat but gone down hill in last year or so. shame.

Great place, great price and have a modern way of paying, service is fast too. 😀 Atmosphere superb. Reason why it doesn't get the 5 stars as it will be unfair 😕 on the latest buildings which are now serving different food types. The place does great traditional foods this includes the Sunday Roast.

Really dissatisfied first couldn't scan blue light QR code excuse was it is Valentines day ......then baguettes described as warm with melted cheese were raw bread not been baked at all told waitress ( waitresses very nice but rushed off there feet ) and no comeback I won't be returning ....

Came in with my wife for Valentine’s Day was served at bar by lady called Eileen, was so helpful and polite food was fantastic couldn’t fault anything, lovely atmosphere and such friendly staff we will definitely be returning thanks again

Just moved into the area and wanted somewhere local to go. I've now been twice, the food is excellent, the atmosphere is really chilled and relaxing. The staff are top-notch ! Nothing is too much trouble. I even brought along my brother, who is a chef and runs his own hotel. He was so impressed, too. I also made the mistake of going to the Hooded Horse Margate . Never again, no comparison !

My partner and I both had the steak and ale pie, this was our first time here and we were very pleasantly surprised. Food was piping hot, came quickly and was great value. Would have loved a few more peas but other than that would highly recommend!

Paid £50 a head for Xmas Dinner and it was the worst experience ever. The steaks were served on a hotplate which were so hot the onions and peppers literally burnt to the plate they were black charcoal and couldn't be eaten. The steak was med rare but the plates were sizzling when it arrived and by the time it was cold enough to eat it had cooked itself to well overdone. The roast dinners were supposed to have pigs in blankets which they didn't and the cauliflower cheese was just cauliflower with no cheese. I complained and contacted the company who really didn't care and stopped communication with me when I requested some sort of refund. Very disappointing and I left having taken one bite of my steak. Total waste of money and I left hungry.

Update. After emailing the CEO, I was finally given an apology and a £100 voucher. The response on this review from the owner shows that they really don’t care about the service they provide. The family decided to eat out this year for Christmas and chose the hungry horse in Margate. It was a disaster as the food was either wrong or inedible. The lady serving us was argumentative and moody. They got meals wrong and the meals were missing bits. Half the puddings were not available. Spoke to manager who blamed head office. Staff couldn’t care less that our Christmas dinner was ruined. Would like to add that the staff including manager was extremely argumentative. A girl called Molly decided to come to the table and blame us for the poor service and missing items from meals. I asked her to please leave us alone but it took until the manager told her to go into the kitchen. A full refund was given but no apology. The manager said ‘you’ve had a refund, what more do you want’. The whole episode ended with staff shouting at us in front of 3 small children. The only member of staff that treated us like human beings was the lady in the red jumper. The manager should be ashamed of hers and her staffs conduct.
