The cafe is lovely but the female staff are appaling. My son went to get ice cream and there is a step in front of the fridge. He went there to see the flavors and this blond mid aged was rude and abrasive to him. For a shy 6 years old completely ruined is experience to the point that he didn't want the desert. She was doing this to other kids as well. Maybe she was having a bad day but don't justify scream to small kids the way she was doing. I spoke to other member that maybe was nice to put a note to not step there , she just ignored and cut me mid sentence even though I was still been served. It was awful and spoiled the lovely day for my kids. For a place that charge 3,50 for a small bottle of water the staff should at least be civil.

After visiting Bodiam Castle, we called in at the Wharf Tea Room for lunch. The food on offer was up to the usual good National Trust standard and my wife, who is Gluten Free, was able to find something to satisfy her diet. Although not dog friendly, there is plenty of seating outside (OK when it's good weather).

I went with my wife to the tea room after visiting the castle; we needed a bit of a warm up! The staff there were exceptionally friendly, the coffee was good, and the food was excellent! And, surprisingly, it was cheaper than many of the cafes and other tea rooms that we visit in and around Hastings.

Everything about this pub was brilliant! We tried our luck by attempting a walk up Sunday Lunch on Mother's Day, a slightly risky ask on one of the busiest days of the year. Despite this, we were found a lovely roomy table by the bar and made to feel very welcome by all the staff, who were incredibly friendly and went out of their way to help. We tried a Korean chicken wing plate to start, which was delicious, and both of our roasts (beef and pork) were also excellent, all using high quality, fresh ingredients and for a fair price. They also had a great choice of beers and some interesting non alcoholic cocktails, not something you'd find in every country pub. The building itself is beautiful and the atmosphere in the bar area was lively and really enjoyable. All in all a top place to eat and drink if you're in this corner of Kent / Sussex!
