Called in for brunch whilst out shopping, having not been to Sutton for some time. Every table was spotlessly clean, as was the bar area. I was made to feel very welcome by the member of staff who served me. Food was served fairly quickly and was very nice. I had the new Fiesta Brunch which is great value at £3.42 & my husband had a traditional breakfast. Will definitely visit again next time we are passing.

The staff try their hardest in difficult circumstances. The place needs a facelift and investment urgently. Cleaning standards have slipped and you may find yourself having to ask for tables to be cleaned. The food was adequate but far from excellent. Pop in for a meal in an emergency.

Poor attitude to customers, they got the order wrong but wouldn't change it. The waitress said the chef told her: "if we want the order changed we would have to buy it again", that is a shocking attitude. I complained to Wetherspoons but heard nothing back

Breakfast included undercooked bacon, toast barely toasted, cold beans on a cold plate and a warmed up sausage. A poor offering - no check back so we grudgingly ate some of it. Complained to Supervisor who collected are plates, she mentioned it to the Duty Manager who looked at us and turned away. Obviously we won't be going back for a below average breakfast and very poor customer service - such a shame as they had the opportunity to put things right but did not!

Visited late Monday afternoon. Not the relaxed atmosphere that you get in most Wetherspoons. There was big groups of blokes who were a touch loud. Not a problem for me but my wife said she wasn't comfortable with it. But there was plenty of families in. I had 3 small plates( loaded chips, chicken strips and an 8" pizza). I couldn't eat it all maybe i was greedy. My wife had a gourmet chicken breast burger which came with onion rings and chips. Mine was OK not as good as other spoons. The wife said hers was good though. Decent prices, not sure if we'd visit again.

In addition to the poor service, mum had fish n chips, the fish was rock hard and when I broke it in half, the fish had all burnt and there was virtually no white to be seen I had the gourmet steak which was supposed to medium rare, I started eating it as didn’t want to complain again and I couldn’t cut it let alone chew it, I persevered but it was rare not as I had asked and my teeth were hurting from trying to chew it This is the worst meal we have ever had in here

Called in today .as the beer cheap along with the food .it’s the busiest pub in Sutton .but the never seem to have enough staff serving people ..if you go round the corner to another pub ..the staff are very friendly and serve you straight away …walked in 6 or 7 people waiting at the bar .The Norm ….Eventuality got served by a member of staff I’ve never seen before .she was covered in tattoos and just had her nails sorted .she pulled me a pint and it was know where near a full pint .I sat down waited for it to settle and I went back to ask to top it up ..the next thing she is telling me I’ve drank it ….her attitude was not of a bar maid .she called me something under her breath then went to get the manager who I’ve never seen before .only been a customer since August 2000.waiting at the bar eventually a lady comes out of the kitchen telling me she will review the incident…she topped my glass up .I then left .while I was there I noticed the amount of short measures this young lady was giving out ..probably not to damage her cheap nail fillers .

Went in Friday evening with my wife, first time since Covid-19 started, and had the usual nice fish and chips. Everything is nicely spaced, with screens separating some tables, but this must be the scruffiest Wetherspoons in existence, and we've visited hundreds. Staff are all very nice, but it's still got the same scumbag clientelle using foul language. Came in earlier in the week for dinner. Ordered on the app and a member of staff came to the table and quite abruptly said "one of you ordered the kids pizza what is it" could of been a friendlier approach to this. My sister ordered just after me but our drinks came at the same time but she had go to the bar and ask someone for her meal which then came straight out so obviously missed off when she brought out the food. Food wasn't great either. Came in again this morning for breakfast with kids and there was quite a few of us when moving tables we were told to find our own chairs. Kids where playing near us and member of staff told us to get them to sit down. Again quite abruptly. Not even a word as she cleared our table including taking drinks that wasn't finished. Twice in a week bad service.

I wanted a toasted sandwich. They said they do panini's so I had a ham & cheese with chips. The panini didn't look as though it hadn't been toasted (making it look non appetising) & it hardly hadn't. I opened it up & it looked like there was no cheese. I told them and they said that it's under the ham. I looked & it was mozzarella that had been put on very thinly that had no taste. The ham was proper but was too strong tasting for my liking, & so were the chips (they were healthy ones's.) Gregg's toasted sandwiches are a lot nicer! The chairs are dirty and so is the carpet.

Good selection of beers but, as will most Wetherspoon's taste your beer before leaving the bar. Due to their policies of buying very short dated beer they do not always condition them as they should or keep them on sale too long. They will always replace the beer that is not correct but, never taste or take off a beer even if it is vinegar!Food is basic but, a pint and a steak/curry etc at the price they charge one cannot complain. Not the most attract pub in the chain and can get quite noisy.

The response to the "Cheap drinks" review by "Robjacko" by Rich the pub manager has not only made me smile cynically, its also prompted me to write a further second review. This is something quite unprecedented in all my time as a reviewer. Go ahead, give Rich the time and the date and whoever was designated to saloon duty that particular day is now potentially out of a job. Yes, I do recognise there are standards to meet. But I believe that is a 2 way street and here's why.I've been in today as I tend to do - its my "local" after all - and my tipple of choice is still unavailable. For 3 days now there's "been a problem with the lines." I've no idea what this means but what I do know is that the beer to customer process generally involves a keg, a cooler and some plastic tubing. Strikes me that this is not rocket surgery and it won't take much fixing surely. Standards? Now I could complain to Rich the manager but he's never there when I am. That's because I go in during the late afternoons and evenings - like most people do. As it stands, from mid afternoon onwards, the pub is left to run under the stewardship of a team leader or a minimalist crew of bar staff working their way through college and for whom the pub is there solely for an income. They don't do it for the love of the job.And that's why punters like Robjacko find tables full of glasses and sticky tables when they go in. Most of the better reviews of the pub are for the early mornings. When Rich is there.Except "don't do it for the love of the job" is strictly not quite true. There was up until a while ago, a member of staff who did care, who took time to know the customers drinks and would often have a bit of time for them when it wasn't too busy. First name was K. Had there been a good customer / manager interface their eventual demise may have been averted. I say may because I recognise it is the duty of the manager to manage. And in the end, for those of us that did recognise such qualities but were unable to express this, its a loss to the company as we see it. The Wetherspoons chain, so it would seem, has a process to deal with complaints but no comparative or alternative process that allows customers to also recognise good service and the machinery to reward staff for having done so. That's a shame and a pity. Not just at this pub but across the chain. For my own group of friends that used to meet here on a Sunday afternoons, the impersonal feel to the place of late has resulted in them voting with their feet - and wallets - to frequent an alternative establishment nearby. For a long time, we - around a dozen or more of us - used to occupy 2 large high tables at the front of the pub. Then they were moved. Requests to have the tables restored were dismissed out of hand. A complaint to the Wetherspoons Head Office hierarchy was met with " there are no plans to move them back." Plans indeed! What "plan" do you need to move a table? You just pick it up and move it don't you? Complete and utter derisory tosh in my opinion. The perception now is that customers are to be treated with contempt and that they shouldn't challenge the "nanny knows best" mentality. Whose pub is it anyway? I claimed earlier that this was my local and in terms of distance, it is. But I begin to wonder. Does Rich the manager know what I drink or even, come to that, who I am? In the last 2 years he's never served me a pint, not for that matter and so far as I recall, has he ever served any of my associates. The previous manager and his wife would be often be seen in there putting in a shift. And they used to eat in the pub too. That is always a good sign of a steady ship. Nowadays, well...... draw your own conclusions.So. A summary. If you prefer the impersonal touch and that you wish to just go in, take what you need then pay and go then that's fine. It does what it says on the tin. However, if you seek a convivial local with a convivial mine host in the tradition of what was once your second home, literally and in the true spirit of the "public house", then forget it. Sadly, there's more to engaging with the paying punter than having a raffle once a week.

Spent a lot of time here recently whilst waiting for my new kitchen to be fitted. Always good service and value for money. Wish they would make a better job of wiping the tables though.

We came here twice over a weekend, based in an old cinema, typical Wetherspoons fayre. The first day my partner had the all day breakfast, and I had the vegetarian version and both were very nice. The second day my partner had the turkey Christmas meal, and it is the first time that I have ever seen him complain at a Wetherspoons....he described the turkey portion as 'earrings!' the two thin slices were so miniscule....apparently they are pre portioned that small as the manager rather shamefacedly admitted.....we normally book a large party to eat at Wetherspoons on boxing day.....if the portions are really that small this year we won't be going. There was no offer of cranberry or other sauces. My vegetarian lentil roast was very dry. The sauvignon blanc very expensive when compared to the cost of Guinness, beers etc. When we were there there was a loud, and verbally violent confrontation between two groups of drinkers which did not make for a pleasant atmosphere.

The Picture House doesn't look the best from the outside, and if you go through the front entrance it can seem a very unappealing venue due to the fact you are at the 'bar' end and it can be quite rowdy (intimidating!).If however you go to the side of the building into the restaurant entrance it is completely different, still quite noisy but not as intimidating. It is always quite busy, and as above is quite noisy too so it's not the best place if you are looking to relax or sit for a chat with friends. The staff make you feel welcome and are very friendly. The food menu is the generic Wetherspoons menu, which has a good choice of meals and great value for money. Our meals were served fairly quick, and were to a good standard - very enjoyable. Staff were attentive and asked if our meals were okay for us.All in all not the best of atmospheres, but the staff are great, the service is good and the food is really nice.

Good no frills value. What you see is what you get. Not overly keen on breakfasts but special deals in the evening aren't bad.

As this is my own local and having read the reviews here, some of which I wholeheartedly agree with, I feel that some words of defence or mitigating circumstance are in order required to give a bit of balance.I wouldn't class myself and my family who frequent this particular spoons as "undesirables" Nunga1, though given that a cross section of local folk use the pub, there are bound be some characters in there. Certainly for the student about to embark on a degree or thesis in human behaviour, social engineering or the consequences of infidelity, there's a whole raft of stuff to work with here without ever leaving the bar.The outside we have inherited from the days when the building used to be a cinema. Its 1932 art deco style. Inside, just a section of the old balcony and part of where the silver screen would have been are all that remain. The other side of the former cinema was demolished to become the job centre next door. Cynical locals claim that the fruit machines on the co-joining wall have chutes in the back that feed their takings back into the job centre. With a bookies across the road, suggestions are that claimants circumnavigate the 3 buildings - job centre, bookies and pub - on what is lovingly referred to as "Suttons Golden Triangle". As someone said, "its a Wetherspoons" and although it can be said that there are better ones to be had, I can also confirm that some that are far worse. True, the coffee machine is temperamental and the first day of winter is generally marked by the heating packing up. There are a few steps to the toilets whereas in other spoons, toilets are sometimes either in the roof space or located in the labyrinths below the pub. When eating out, we usually go in for their curry night or Sunday lunch and we've never had a bad one yet. Touchwood. And with the taxi rank just next door, its convenient just to fall from the pub into a cab; you can monitor the availability of taxis in the rank from the inside of the pub which is handy in times of inclement weather. One by one the pubs that used to be in the middle of Sutton have closed; there used to be around 9 in the town centre and now there are only 4 - and that won't remain at that level much longer I fear. As a result, this Spoons tends to be a bit more pricier than some of the others as it doesn't have the competition. Even Nottingham City Centre is cheaper. However it does open early and serve food late which must be welcomed by shift workers like those who, for example, work at the nearby 24 hour Asda. Anyone who comes off a night shift after battling in there for 12 hours can frequent "the spoons" and consume as much as they wish with my blessing.During the football season and England competitions, matches are screened live on the former silver screen and the venue gets popular on such occasions. Likewise on a Sunday afternoon when the upper end of the Premiership are playing. Its here that you can identify the various supporter factions by the replica shirts they wear - the ones they most probably bought in Benidorm. Its is said that some of them believe that Liverpool and Manchester are resorts on the east coast. But that's just conjecture...or is it? It would be nice if JD Wetherspoon, in my opinion that is, could see their way clear to giving the pub a bit of TLC or even upgrading it to a Lloyds No 1 Bar and give us an optional for a night venue in Sutton. Now that would be a Golden suggestion. Anyway, would like to go on but its time for the match. Anyone seen my Chelsea shirt - the one with "Simsang" on the front?

We often eat at Wetherspoons when we just want something quick, cheap and cheerful. The food took a while to arrive, was cold and they were stingy with the chips. The table was dirty but it was the only one free. Customers were a real mixed bunch and we felt a bit out of place eating on a Saturday night. Nice building but not as good as other Wetherspoons we have visited.

Have been here a few times for breakfast and also for dinner and found the food to be ok, and edible, but nothing special. Good value for money, but depending on where you sit will also depend on your experience, In certain areas it is a little quieter from all the drinkers in the pub, and yes I do mean at any time of the day. I went in for breakfast a few weeks ago at 10.30am and found a few tables drinking already and had gone through 2 bottles of wine(on their 3rd) and their table had not been cleared. I thought it was a bit much for this time of day, don't blame the customers, I blame the staff or management. Think there should be some restrictions at that time in a morning.Like I said my food was adequate, but nothing special. Will return again at some point possibly for a drink or a breakfast but only if needed, won't go out of my way to recommend this pub for food and drink to friends apart from the fact that the alcohol is so cheap and possibly a good place to start a night out, not finish it!

This place looks like a dump from the outside. How many undesirables can you get in one place. I know - loads if you look at the front of this place. The outside smokers make this place look terrible. I'm lost for words! It's about time Sutton had a few bars for the average person at least!!

Been fairly regular for the past 7 months, and never had an experience like today. My friend and I went in today around 4 o’clock, she ordered a salted caramel frappe no cream with coffee, the staff member « Amy » promptly forgot these requests, and had to be reminded as she was putting cream on (not sure if she did actually put coffee in), we both wrote it off until I was served, I am lactose intolerant, and asked for an oat latte with vanilla, at first she had the regular milk jug for steaming and I had to interject and then when pouring my coffee shot, she attempted to use a takeaway cup that had been face down in the water/coffee/milk mixture in the tray of the machine (as it had been taken apart for I assume cleaning 3 hours before closing), I then asked her not to use that cup as not only do I have allergy to milk it’s also really gross, the whole time they were being standoffish, and then when I got my drink there was no vanilla as she had forgot that too, although she apologized and corrected the error, it just felt really uncomfortable to ask for what I paid for to be made safely and properly, the rude demeanor took us both off guard, I have never had anything happen like this before but it’s just disappointing and below standards.

Booked a table for Sunday Lunch; when we arrived, we were advised it was half an hour wait! Not a great start, so ordered drinks from the bar & ordered two Beef Sunday Roasts on the QR Code. Food arrived & sizeable portions, but Beef was tough & fatty. There was no place to decline which elements you didn’t want on QR Code, so Red Cabbage & Mash wasted. Whatever happened to good old table service? No tip left as guess the QR Code doesn’t get out much!

Atmosphere not rated highly being in Tesco! But depending on who serves you it’s actually really nice. Service is everything no matter where you go and always appreciated.
