A nice meal in a friendly atmosphere

Presentation of food poor, blue steak(surf and turf) ordered, rare to medium received, mushroom garnish tiny, as was the grilled (meant to be grilled ) tomato. Looked like it was plated in a rush, Dessert has to be the poorest dessert I've ever had and again presentation appalling. Sherry trifle cheesecake, which to be honest, not taste of sherry, frozen berries non existent, and presentation for 5.79 looked like it had been served by a kindergarten child. Also seriously understaffed, especially with a large precooked table at 5.30pm of 24, Our table was not cleared quickly, drinks had to be ordered at the bar, so food went cold, no check back to checknif food was OK, which it wasn't. This is usually a fantastic place, food usually spot on but today makes me want to go elsewhere. Not impressed with a bill of 140.00 when the service and food has been so poor. Need to be better.......much better

Booked a meal for 16 people for my birthday on 09-01-25, I just wanted to leave a review as they made it easy to co ordinate 16 people ordering food haha. The customer service was outstanding, really helpful with my mum trying to organise the cake etc. the lady on the floor serving food was lovely, made us feel welcome had a great sense of humour and was a pleasure to deal with. I’m assuming it’s the manager behind the bar, the man who served us behind the bar and cleared our plates was great the whole way through. Had a great conversation, made us laugh and made a chaotic family birthday meal nice and easy so thank you! And lastly a massive thank you to Petr in the kitchen for always cooking a great meal ❤️

Easy to use online ordering, a clean environment, service was not slow and food was lovely especially the sirloin steak. Will definitely be going again soon.

This is a review of the Christmas Day meal, so we paid a large premium for it (expected of course) have eaten here before and had good food, but sadly the Christmas Day meal was very poor and with the cost made the experience worse. My mother's starter was still frozen in the middle. I did complain and they did replace it with no fuss and an apology. For our main course the turkey was incredibly dry and the veg was not that good, some of my wife's was cold. When I went to the bar for a drink I was stood next to another customer who was also complaining of cold food. We were sat opposite the kitchen doors and it did seem quite chaotic. If I had this quality meal for a Sunday carvery I probably would not have been happy, but at £70 a head it was terrible. Sorry to say we will not be coming back. The front of house staff were as nice as could be and putting as best a face on it as could be, but obviously something badly wrong in the kitchen.

Great place, visited here the day after new year for lunch in a group of 7 adults. Food was amazing, service was friendly, polite and quick and the prices very reasonable. Unfortunately we're not local so can't visit regularly but definitely would if we could.

The food was outstanding. The table service was good. The only downside was the lady on the door who took our name was not very welcoming and seemed completely fed up.

All round amazing that is the Golden Eagle, we will dine there again soon, in the very near future. thanks Sue & Steve.

Not impressed with the whole experience of this place, when we walked in first thing we were told when we said we wanted to eat was to get our own menu, cutlery and condiments. Soon they will want you to cook it and wash your own plates, Food was to say the least, mediocre. Definitely won’t be making a return visit.

I visited on the 17th November 24. The service I received from Taneesha was exceptional. Highly professional but with a very friendly manner. Nothing was too much trouble and she was very accommodating.

Family gathering, friendly attentive staff, food was served hot and well presented, and tasty, all at a reasonable price. Will visit again and recommend.

5 of us were quite regular, not any more. Ordered food, 1 member had a pizza and side of chips. After eating a slice of the pizza, it began to crawl... ants!!!! Watched then as the pizza deck was sanitisedbut nothing thrown away.

Great evening out with family for a-meal together. Online booking worked with a change made and requests made. Staff were friendly, polite and helpful. Booked a table for Sunday Lunch; when we arrived, we were advised it was half an hour wait! Not a great start, so ordered drinks from the bar & ordered two Beef Sunday Roasts on the QR Code. Food arrived & sizeable portions, but Beef was tough & fatty. There was no place to decline which elements you didn’t want on QR Code, so Red Cabbage & Mash wasted. Whatever happened to good old table service? No tip left as guess the QR Code doesn’t get out much!

Had a delicious meal, the service was great and we didn't have to wait long before it was served. Would definitely recommend it.

Quality, friendly, great prices.

We visited the pub as a group of ten on a busy Friday evening without a reservation, and we were promptly and graciously accommodated. The establishment was clean, well-maintained, and had a welcoming atmosphere. The food was absolutely fantastic, with each dish being of high quality, and all of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The staff were attentive, efficient, and made the entire experience even more pleasant. We had a wonderful time and will definitely be returning.

Liam and the team are aways very welcoming the staff always no of witch areas there are working so always someone on the bar waiting to greet you for your orders and always someone for table service as not eaten here the food always looks delicious and smells amazing the pub is very clean all so the toilets look and smells clean there is a large beer garden with play area dogs welcome with water bowls and treats and blankets to TV with pool table in bar area very much recommended

Just been for Christmas dinner and the experience was outstanding from start to finish. Friendly greeting at the door introduced to our serving waitress who was excellent throughout food was brought promptly, was hot and tasted superb. I could not have wished for a better Christmas Day experience I will be booking again next year for definite.

Staff were welcoming and efficient. Didn't overly enjoy the Sunday lunch as it was drowning in gravy. No check back either

Bar staff were helpful when finding a table number and the waiter that brought our food was phenomenal and cracked a joke with us which made the experience homely. Can’t recommend this place enough and it was my first visit too!

I really struggle to eat out, I’m Coeliac and require gluten free, a vegetarian by choice and peppers and tomatoes are too acidic and cause me stomach ache and reflux! I avoid going public but it was my partner’s Birthday and myself and the kids wanted to take him out. The member of staff who served me did her absolute best to sort my food for me, It was such an awkward order removing this and that and adding this and that, she had to enquire twice in the kitchen. Not once was I made to feel a pain in the arse, even though I know i was! Another member of staff also helped and both asked if my food was ok at our table. My food came perfect and I was so happy to enjoy a Chocolate Fudge cake for dessert. Besides my awkward self, my family had a lovely meal out, we thought it was good that the tables were set a nice way apart so you don’t feel cramped and you had your own space rather than being back to back with other people as is the case in some places we visit. This was our first visit and we will definitely come again. Good food, lovely relaxed atmosphere and staff who do their best!

Visited the golden eagle a few times and it’s never disappointed always such nice food and friendly staff. On this visit I had cowboy burger which was cooked beautifully by Peter and Pato? Can't wait to come back for our Christmas meal

Had Sunday lunch and it had the smallest portion of mashed potato ever we did ask for more which we got sent by the chef while still being told that was a normal portion at 13.99 a meal don't think it was value for money.

well what happened today could only be described as remarkable, there was an amazing young woman working the floor today i believe that her name is Lauren, she took the time with us to make sure we was all okay, she helped me out with my allergies by pointing out what i could and couldn’t have on the menu i definitely will be coming back and hope to see her again!

Came here for a spot of lunch, I ordered from the lunch menu, with help of the lovely woman who’s name was Lauren, I had a baguette and it was lovely, I cannot recommend going to this place as much as I would like to, Lauren’s customer service skills were absolutely fantastic! She is an absolute credit to the team of Golden Eagle Mansfield, I will definitely be back, and I hope to see Lauren again soon!

Visited monday evening with a larger party and no booking, Lauren the door host was very accommodating and ensured we were seated promptly and had everything we needed. Was served by Miranda on the bar who was so patient with and my fussy kids and the food was absolutely delicious. Very impressed.

Always great service along with great food and a relaxed environment, Bobbie was brilliant at serving us and making ordering our food really easy, would highly recommend

A brilliant visit to the Golden Eagle last Monday where we were greeted by a new face, Lauren. Although she is new she is a credit to the pub and was warm and welcoming. Bobby was brilliant offering to grab us drinks or puddings after our main courses. And it was a surprise to know the Manager Liam is able to multitask and cook food as well as run a pub! Fab pizzas and dough balls from Sharon as always, would highly recommend to family and friends 🧡 Job well done guys!

Fantastic service from the moment we walked in! Claire greeted us at the door and Riley served us at the bar, both extremely polite and gave warm welcomes! Sam brought us food out and asked if we wanted any sauces or there was anything else he could do for us. Both Pete and Adrian cooked us perfect steaks in the kitchen! Would definitely recommend to friends and family!

My lad treated me to a pub meal. I had cowboy burger and my lad had smokey bbq pizza. The staff were friendly, very polite and welcoming. The food was beautiful, my burger was delicious. My lads pizza looked amazing and the aroma........Homer Simpson moment... I must admit that this was our first visit here, to say how long it's been open and we live only couple mile away. Next time we ho, we're playing pool!

Came in for a meal and was greeted by very friendly staff at the door who promptly guided me to a table. Alex took my order at the bar very quickly and kindly. I ordered and received the best rump steak I’ve had for a while that was cooked to perfection by Jack in the kitchen. All in all an amazing experience and will be back again very soon!

Food not good .chips very hard and burnt .chicken hard and dry not much bba sauce .no staff came and asked how it was. Will not return

30% voucher only worked on one visitor on the same table, yet most of us had the same food. Nachos were dry & very small portions - not worth the money Special requirements & requests were ignored. Not a good experience

Never had a bad meal or experience at the Golden Eagle. Claire treats us like family every single time, always can’t do more for us. Liam’s always running around working his hardest. The rest of the team are also so welcoming.

I’d like to add a special mention for Becky! We work close by and try to come in on our lunch breaks. Becky always has a friendly smile waiting for us and great customer service and is very hard working. We work quite stressful jobs so it’s nice to come and wind down and she always remembers what we have to drink and eat and looks after us. If I could give her 6* I would. Thanks Becky for keeping us sane on our little break from work.

Visited last month as part of travelling around. My friend lives in Mansfield and was staying nearby. Had the garlic pizza bread which was amazing. For main classic fish n chips lov. Looked after by Liam and Claire. I asked the chefs name and was told it was Riely.. well done all. WILL BE BACK

Today i was visiting this pub with my family for the first time and i am absolutely pleased with servis and food.Thanks to the pubs team Pete,Sam,Alex and Claire,thank you guys for amazing service.

Great time had by the whole family, we were met at the door by the lovely Claire who showed us to our table and explained all the ways we could order. When our food came out we were all delighted with the quality of the steaks . My young son had a pizza custom made to his own requirements by Sharon and loved it. Excellent service and great food for the price, we'll definitely come backx

Beautiful place, never been before as I live in Hucknall but my partner works in Mansfield. Very friendly, beautifully cooked food!

The service was poor. We were kept waiting to be seated, although it was not busy. The food was bland. No side salad to the chicken burger. No mustard for a mixed grill. The drinks are expensive. Would not recommend this restaurant and will not be returning.

We went for a birthday meal with a large party all food came out together, piping hot and tasted amazing 👏

The front of house manager was unwelcoming not even a hello or how she could help us, just have ya booked a table. During our meal the manager came to clean a table that was at the side of us which had not been used during our visit and as she was cleaning I had her arse in my face as I was still eating, she did not even apologise even when this was mentioned this to her just a shrug of her shoulders and totally dismissed this. Even when leaving my disabled son had forgotten his hat and a shout across the bar from the manager oh ya forgot ya hat. Her body language and overall demeanour was unpleasant and ininviting, we even notice that she was not pleasant to others as a elderly couple came in and was not shown to their table she just pointed and they were given a instruction to get their own menus and cutlery themselves, if this is the standards you use I will not be revisiting again.

We came to your pub around 8:30pm with my grandchildren for a late dinner due to a short notice change of plan. I checked the website and food was planned to be served until 9pm and the pub open till 11pm, I thought that’s great! On arrival we were met by a manager who never said hello, just “are you wanting a table?” I replied with yes please she replied with “well we don’t have any pizzas and all that side is closed now” as she gestured over to the side of the pub where the toilets are located, I said that’s fine, we’ll eat whatever you have and sit anywhere. We had 3 young hungry children with us and happy to go with the flow. We sat down, at a table right next to another couple who were having a very loud conversation, which seemed an odd place to put us as there were more than 10 other tables free but we sat there as we were told. We ordered for and spent almost £80, the food arrived and was absolutely delicious! Which is the reason for the 2 stars instead of the one. After finishing food, the two boys were keen to play pool with us, so we moved over to the pool table. At 9:35, the same lady who met us at the door, came over and quite abruptly said “you do realise we close very soon”, I was surprised as it wasn’t 11pm, so I asked what time, she replied with 10pm and I asked what time was it now, where she replied 9:35 and gave a smug look. I said ok no problem but the website did say it closed at 11pm, she replied with “the website?? Well that’s not the case we only stay open until 11 on Friday & Saturdays, as you might notice it’s very dead in here now!” I said , ok and planned to leave before 10pm. All of the staff then waited coats and bags on near the bar, waiting for us to leave, you can imagine how uncomfortable this made us, we left, not finishing our game of pool and we won’t be returning anytime soon. I would suggest if that’s how customers are treated in the evenings, it is no wonder there is no trade after 8/9pm. It’s such a shame as it’s a lovely building with great parking and the food was brilliant! The service let the brand down significantly.

We had reserved a table for 9 for a birthday. There were no issues getting the table. The food was ordered on the app The food cam out sporadically with one person finishing before the last meal arrived. Some wanted pudding again ordered on the app the pudding arrived no dinner plates were collected. The standard of the steak was poor the food was average.

Very average pub chain food, but service was good, prompt. Parking plentiful and venue clean and tidy.

Rather surprised to find quiz on a Friday night in a food led pub but enjoyed our visit. Our highlight without a doubt was Alex behind the bar.. His honesty and commitment to deliver a quality of service simply made us smile outloud. Was taken aback by the high price of a standard red wine and a pint of Guinness tbh. But hey ho.... Keep up the good work Alex 👏

Food is tasty enough but the fussy eater may struggle to find something to eat

Everything was very enjoyable for a Marston's restaurant and even better with a discount voucher. I loved my spicy chilly burger. The service was quite quick following ordering.

On arrival Becky was polite welcoming chatty she taken our food order for the table and she re read back to make sure the meals was correct what we ordered food was lovely Becky checked back to see if everything was all good she couldn’t do enough for us will definitely be returning in the future. Portion sizes are small. My husband ordered a mixed grill and he had 5 chips on his plate. Paid £16 for this and there was hardly anything on his plate.

Thought id try this place as not been for years and my friend had never been. We found a table and ordered are drinks and food using the app both deciding on the steak and philly wrap mine being med rare and mates medium well. Not a long wait at all till a lovely lady called Becky bought are meals we asked wich was which and to my friends disappointment hers had been done medium rear as well but was prepaid to try it and if struggling to return it which we did Becky was very appoligetic and bought a fresh one out. We also want to thank the chef Peter for being so understanding I even told the manager about are experience with Becky. WILL BE BACK

Poor experience been going here for years. undercooked burger, ordered a cheese burger they brought me out a spicy burger won’t be going again

So we walked in around 7:10ish and got told there would be an hour wait for a table. I then looked online and booked a table for 7:15 whilst sat in my car and rang up to confirm and this was no problem at all! Was seated straight away?? The original blonde woman who spoke to us avoided us like the plague but was speaking to everyone around. We then used the QR code on the menu to order because it’s more convenient for us and the onion rings I’d added and paid for on my burger were not there. And it seemed impossible to flag down a staff member to tell them so I guess I’ll forgo the £1.50 I’d paid for these. The gentleman with long dark hair who did seat us and brought our drinks over though was lovely. Just overall a very mid experience and I won’t be in a rush to come back.

The food was amazing with plenty of choice and the place was spotless. The service was friendly and polite and our orders were brought out correctly, even though we made an amendment to one of the meals. We will be back! Thanks
