Just been today Feb 7th and was waiting nicely in the queue when they keep serving people behind you and when you have a broken spine you don't have long to stand there waiting for them service when 4 others came after me

Being a visitor in the area I travelled to try this ‘award winning’ chip shop. Sadly they don’t taken cards and like many people these days I don’t carry cash. So sadly I went somewhere else. Perhaps if they took cards they would have more custom.

delicious but would recommend not using that paper you serve the food on cos the food sticks to it and you either have to shred the food or eat bits of paper. everything else perfect!

I've been going here most weeks for over 10 years. These are simply the best fish and chips I've had and consistent too. The staff are friendly, portion sizes are fab. Keep doing what your doing, it's fab.

This could have so easily been a 5 star review, just because the food is so good, however this place is run by the two rudest people I have ever come across ! Zero greeting when you walk in you can cut the atmosphere with a knife, and not so much as a thank you when you pay and leave ! Such a shame and very disappointing!!!

Fabulous food and super service

The grub is absolutely spot on. They accept and prepare really quick, and I can't say they deliver early 'cause it actually goes against them but delivery is always 'prompt'. 6* everytime.

My nephew and his wife were visiting me from Switzerland and I know he loves his fish N chips so I took them to West Vale Fisheries for the best fish N chips in the UK. The staff were very nice and attentive and we ordered the king-size which was made to order very fresh with a nice crispy batter, we ate them across the road in a small park with bench seating. The verdict from Switzerland and the Uk is the best fish N chips we have ever had and a good value for money, excellent!!!

Best fish and chips in Halifax without question. I’ve been in the shop, and ordered online. Always freshly made and delivered on time, usually early.

Restaurant took our orders regularly & we had reward points to redeem. We later tried to redeem these to a total of about £8 off our regular order…but they cancelled our order without explanation. Won’t be using these lot again

Disappointed. Never ordered from here before but read all the reviews so was expecting great things. Waited almost 2 hours for delivery, and when I called the restaurant she went fully on the defensive before I managed to get more than one sentence out (and I was very polite just asking for ETA.) Could tell it was end of the evening food, curry sauce had run out so didn’t get a full tub & over all food was just okay.

staff not very friendly. I got a cake butty and it had some sort of herb in which wasn't very nice at all. We moved from Bradford to Halifax and they don't do that.

I was visiting from Canada and really fancied fish n chips, so stopped in just before closing as we were running late. Not only was the food excellent, we were treated to a free dinner. Thank you for making our day

Shockingly poor this evening, especially when previous visits have been good. Stood waiting for an unacceptable about of time, considering I arrived at the time my food was ready. No apology given for wait, and no acknowledgment from staff until the end where all I got was ‘you should have said that you was an online order’. Shame really.

We are 'frequent fryers' and long standing customers of West Vale Fisheries. That probably tells other what they need to know. The best in Calderdale and still found nothing to rival them when further afield.

In my humble opinion the 𝐁𝐄𝐒𝐓 𝐅𝐈𝐒𝐇 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐂𝐇𝐈𝐏𝐒 I have ever tasted up and down the British Isles. Beating all the fish and chips I have had at seaside towns. Just been and got fish and chips, not been in years, also took my friend from another town, absolutely beautiful, best fish n chips around for miles, staff and very friendly, freshly made in front of us, highly recommend and will be making regular visits xxx

Delivery was faster than expected. Fish was a little overcooked and dry, battered sausage wasn’t the best and had a weird taste. Chips were a bit soggy and had no flavour other than the oil. The curry sauce tastes powdery and was too thick to poor. Overall not the worst chippy I’ve had but I won’t be ordering from here again.

Disgraceful customer service 0 hello bye thank you the one lady who seems to be a foreigner has no manners. The fish and chips ok nothing special. Mergatroydes is by far better. I would not recommend anyone going to this fish and chips shop even the fish and chips portions are very average for the money they charge.. I will not be spoken to in this atticude by ur customer service fix ur disgraceful atticude

This was or first order after a move into the area yesterday. Delivery was given with a smile, the food was hot and most certainly plentiful, just what you need after a house move. Thank you and we will definitely order again.

Not bought from West Vale before but aware they have won awards. Can see why as fish and chips were excellent. Very quick service too so will definitely buy from here again.

Went here as it’s award winning, but it was really disappointing. The fish was dry, the batter was poor, and the chips were not up to scratch - some were even burnt. Curry sauce tasted absolutely gross. Won’t be going back. Such a shame.

Decent fish and chips but ridiculously large portion sizes and the price to match. I’d recommend one portion of fish and chips for two people (unless you have a ginormous appetite).

inedible. due to putting vinegar on them, not requested and I am severely allergic. Just Eat refuse a refund saying all restaurants have their unique preparation methods. I didn't realise that meant disregarding instructions putting me at severe risk of allergic reaction

Over an hour delivery. I was possibly left until last as my order arrived close to closing time. easily a third of the chips were hard and inedible and the fish wasn't great. Usually brilliant, and beautifully fresh so this was disappointing 😞

best fish and chips. thought it might be affected by delivery time but still crispy and hot when it arrived. it arrived early which is great, but when I put that the form said 'sorry to hear that' so I changed it to on time. can't say a bad word about it
