Great fish & chips, welcoming staff.

Went here as it’s award winning, but it was really disappointing. The fish was dry, the batter was poor, and the chips were not up to scratch - some were even burnt. Curry sauce tasted absolutely gross. Won’t be going back. Such a shame.

Decent fish and chips but ridiculously large portion sizes and the price to match. I’d recommend one portion of fish and chips for two people (unless you have a ginormous appetite).

I have never had a bad experience with the place when Adam was present. As soon as he is on holiday the standards slip. I paid for products I did not recieve. I am on public transport and discovered this at home, even though it said I had recieved them on the recipt. This is unacceptable and the staff should be double checing every order. I was told to come back but what is the point. My food would not be the same warmed up. Very disappointed.

Fish was ok and cooked fresh, but chips were disgusting and obviously warmed up from lunchtime - cold when I got them home. Atmosphere was very poor due to staff chatting to each other in a foreign language - no chat with customers waiting at all. Did not feel welcome at all.

Their advertising/directions sign states 'best Fish & Chips', so obviously I had to try, even though not my local chippy. I have never looked back and lucky for me they also deliver to my area. Seaside restaurant quality fish & chips, with very tasty sides, especially the curry sauce. Fish is so fresh, as if just caught from the sea and landed on my plate, beautifully flakey. Quality batter and chunky cut chips, no grease in sight. I always order online, but on the odd occasion, I have needed to phone 'Westvale' and received nothing but fantastic customer service. Thank you.

Just went and got myself a chip butty with curry sauce and said no salt no vinegar. And then proceeded to smother it in salt and vinegar. Hate salt and vinegar on my food. Now can’t eat it. Thanks 🤙🏻

Lovely fish and chip shop, we like to pop in for lunch when out walking in nice weather. The service is always good, The chips and gravy are lovely, but even a small portion is more than I can manage, and some do unfortunately get wasted.

Ordered delivery. After over an hour waiting for updates was told it was on its way. Thirty more minutes later the restaurant closed. No answering phone, no update on delivery and no delivery leaving me down money unable to arrange another delivery and going to bed hungry. Merry Christmas.

Finally got to sample the fish and chips. Living in Australia I really miss good chippies. The curry sauce was also excellent.

You know you have chosen the right place when you arrive and the queue is out of the door. The staff are extremely efficient and I was served within 5 minutes. Fish cooked to order and the curry sauce to die for. Beautiful. Well done.

expensive well cooked meal the fish well its not cod nor haddock quite large but are`t they supposed to say what they are serving? It was not very tasty and claiming to be Award Winners in this field?!

I went there for dinner today and got fish cake and chips and a large curry sauce I could not eat it all I had quite a few chips left so I put them in the pots I feed the magpies with stud up and they have eaten every one I can see why they won chip shop of the year no one in Huddersfield does them like that well worth going from Huddersfield I will be back for more

Having tried most of the Chip shops around the area and having had very mixed experiences I decided to go back to West Vale Fisheries. This is consistently a good place. Good food at a very reasonable price. A good sized portion of cod and chips for £6.30 I thoroughly recommend.

Called on my way past last Thursday on my way home to Todmorden via the senic route well what a welcome I had my Burnley FC football shirt on and had a very welcoming chat with the fryer regarding football, Adam cooks excellent fish, well I think they are Whales as they are sooo big, they were hot and crispy and tasted delicious, the chips were hot golden and cooked to perfection all served in a neat cardboard box absolutely amazing the shop was clean and well lite, a modern takeaway , I even liked the memoroblia on the walls ,the owner has meet some super sports people, George best to name a few. I'll be back just like Arnold Schwarzenegger says , keep up the good work.

These are the best Fish & Chips i have tasted. The fish is non greasy and full of flavour. The chips are fluffy with a crisp outer. I highly recommend you try these.

I went to westvale fisheries on Saturday .I love this place. The best fish and chips in Yorkshire. The staff are really nice aswell .makes a difference to go somewhere where the staff look after you .

Having seen the sign on our way home decided to make a slight detour and was it worth it YOU BET. Ordered cod and chips quick service, and the taste took me back to my childhood. Batter crispy, fish flakey, and the chips, well to die for call in you won't be disappointed.

Must have seen the signs for this shop a thousand times and passed on numerous occasions but after a recent hospital visit I thought hmmm I fancy fish and chips and glad I did,spot on lovely chips and the fish mmmm good portion aswell

Fish n chips ok but very pricey

Just bought fish and chips and small curry. Got home, put curry on fish and chips to find out it wasn’t traditional curry sauce but Chinese style - most ended up in the bin, an expensive waste of money £6:75

We're blessed with many good chippys in the area. This is up there with the best. It's my chippy of choice in West Vale. And one I'd go out of my way to Never have to wait too long. Everyone is friendly. Fish and chips served in a box as opposed to a styrene tray so stays crispy until it gets home

Have passed Westvale umpteen times over the years but never called in until a month ago. Boy do they do grand butties. Decent fish and a few chips just like me and my mate like them. Have called once a week since our first trip and standard always the same. Brilliant. My new favourite chippie

I'm staying in Halifax and was shopping in tescos. When I came out I saw the banner, best in Halifax. I thought I would try it and see, and it was as good as advertised. I had haddock which was tasty and fresh, the chips were fried perfectly. Definitely get my vote, even though I couldn't understand the local accent. My problem not theirs.
