Weston Beach Cafe in North Somerset

If it weren’t for the girls serving me, it would have been a 1 star. But they were truly lovely and made sure I was okay and was enjoying my food. I do think it is slightly unprofessional from the manager to be talking to the girls from across the restaurant and using it as her office, talking about hours and pay etc. Customers don’t need to hear that even though there was only a few people in. The food- very nicely presented. I had the cheeseburger with chips, it’s pretty hard to mess up a burger, but here we are! I only finished it because I had been travelling all day and was starving. Burger just tasted off and was lukewarm at best. Chips were stone cold. Not sure if it was because of the time of day or if it’s always like this.

I visited Weston Beach Cafe recently, and the fact that it was nearly empty should have been an early indication of what to expect. I ordered a sandwich, which cost £6, only to receive two basic slices of bread with a modest filling and a side salad. For that price, I was hoping for something a bit more substantial or creative. While the cafe might be a decent stop if you’re just looking for takeaway coffee or ice cream, I found the sit-in experience lacking. Unfortunately, I wasn't impressed and won’t be returning.

To be brutally honest, we've been spoilt by the excellent Fish & Chips at The Dolphin, Ilfracombe in the past week or so. Here, the Fish & Chips were OK and freshly cooked but we thought was somewhat over-priced. We've had better value in Weston in the past.

Child looking forward to a rainbow icecream. Expect dull pastels. The server didn’t seem to understand the issue when I mentioned the signage, brightly coloured display and false advertising. She did however apologise when I returned with a photo of the sign.

Maybe change the name from cafe to bistro? Went in for coffee only to see a sign saying wait to be seated, I should have known at this point but was promptly told only coffee isn't being served as it's a busy period. Which I can understand but there were many free picnic tables free and unused out the back which I would have been more than happy to occupy. I suppose they must be doing well if they can turn away trade.

This cafe is in a fantastic location with great views..however...we both ordered the cod and chips at £15.99 each. Alarm bells rang when the meal turned up 2 minutes after I had ordered it. The chips and peas were fine. The fish however ....this was up with the worst battered cod I had ever tasted. I say cod..you had to look to find the cod as 95% was battered. There looks to be better establishments within a 5 minute walk. Avoid this place unless you go for the views and not the food or service.

I was charged £11 for a large chips, curry sauce and a bottle of fizzy! I was fully aware that these prices were on the dear side, but already had the family seated and ready for some chips. Couldn't believe after overcharging for what is a basic food item, they weren't even real chip shop chips, just some steak cut frozen alternative. Very disappointed

Service was good, welcoming and efficient. Prices were comparable to others nearby. This has views of the sea. The fish and chips were great, in fact too many chips!

We visited this cafe today, and were all pleasantly surprised at how reasonable the prices were - particularly because of the location. The portions were large, and I thought it was great value for money. What really made it for me though, was the staff. All staff were so accommodating and friendly. Thank you for a lovely lunch!

Afraid in two months and two visits the food has become overpriced and gone down in quality, fish was all dry and chips tasted like frozen chips and £3 for a bottle of pop this is a rip off £11.00 for low quality fish and chips even my son push his food away won’t be back

Tried here as PJs our usual choice was closed. Tip- go there if open always brilliant. Manager rude to staff within our earshot poor quality donuts and coffee. Won't go there again and I don't recommend you work there either judging bu their rather unpleasant ways with staff

Visiting with a large group of teenagers with learning disabilities from inner city Birmingham. The staff were fantastic, couldn’t have helped us any more if they tried. Food was delicious, service excellent and the everyone was really understanding. All topped off with ice creams and donuts! This was our second visit and we’ll be back again next year I’m sure. Thank you for giving our students such a memorable experience.

Lovely staff and position BUT over £30 for frozen fish and chips that you could get in any Wetherspoons (!) Really not what we expected on the seafront. Definitely won't go there again!

Wonderful experience with 21 members of our family, celebrating our special wedding anniversary with a delicious lunch of fish and chips followed by ice cream. The lovely staff made our visit very special with surprises including balloons and themed music! Would highly recommend for both the food offering and the amazing staff.

After having drinks and food I wanted to visit the toilet, went inside asked a young girl where they were - she said it’s a £1!!!! I said as I’d eaten and drank at their premises it was not right to charge! She looked at her colleague then spoke to someone out the back - then said ‘it’s because of messy kids!?!’ I’m here with my daughter and grandson, I don’t look like a child!! Even the public toilets on the beach only charge 20p so this charge of £1 is grossly extortionate! They did allow me to use the facilities but made me feel awkward and put me off coming back

Disappointed doesn't really sum it up. We decided to treat the children to fish and chips on the beach, and with a large choice of restaurants to choose from, we chose this place. Sadly we made the wrong choice. The chips are clearly frozen steak cut chips, the staff got our order wrong, at one point one staff member dropped a sausage on the serving area where people receive their food, and when he thought no one was looking, put it back in the area where they keep cooked food warm. Best part of £40 which would have been better spent elsewhere especially as this was a treat. For an establishment in such a prime position, they have sadly missed a trick, serving up very average fish and chips. We will not be going back sadly

Not proper fish and chips- frozen chips - don’t waste your money! To add insult to injury , charged me £1 to use the toilet despite spending £40 on fish and chips! Wouldn’t mind so much if the toilet actually been clean…Terrible!

The food was not up to usual standards. Poor quality and disappointed us, it was our first time visiting this cafe and it was not that the expected or greater depth level we were looking for. We were really put off by finding out it is frozen fish and chips which is not what you expect on the seaside when you can catch your own.

Came to Weston for a day out for nostalgia! We all love a chippy by the seafront (2 adults, 2 teens) I knew it would be a bit pricey due to the location but thought oh well. I read the menu and thought the prices were quite expensive but I like to support local businesses. I was really disappointed and shocked the chips were frozen! We spent £41 on frozen food! It was bland tasteless and really overpriced! Serving frozen food is false advertising and is misleading. Next time I go to a chippy I’ll be asking if the chips are frozen before I order!

As a local, trying to support local business’s but with nearly £16 for 2 bacon rolls and 2 teas, I struggle. Shocked at £2.90 for a cardboard cup of tea that had no flavour. Bacon roll was ok but £5! Signage telling me it’s £1 for the loo if not a customer was also off-putting. (20p in public loo).

We called to this cafe and were welcomed in a very friendly way. All the staff were excellent and the owner was brilliant and spent time to speak with us. The music that was on was so relaxed and made our visit extra special. We will be making this a regular on our visits to western.

Stopped here for fish & chips. Staff all young and unprofessional. During these uncertain times you expect to be guided as to where you can sit or if there is even room for you.No Covid H & S in place and Nobody took any notice of us. Took a seat anyway and worked out you had to order at counter. Food was dry and tasted funny. None of us finished our meal. In fact I had one bite and sent It back. Got refund for the meal that manager agreed didn’t look great but she disagreed with my opinion on the rest and refused to give me my money back even though all of the meals had barely been touched. Had I not of paid upfront I wouldn’t of paid for my meal at all, especially after the way the manager dealt with my complaint. I also found the way she told her staff off in earshot or the whole restaurant unprofessional. Wouldn’t go again, wouldn’t recommend.

Really good good at good price. But totally no H&S in place .Empty sanitizer at cash till. Staff not using sanitizer or wearing nitrel gloves. No wipe down of tables. No control at all if public spacing. Know wonder summerset has a rise in Covid cases

As i walked to the outdoor seating there was a member of staff smoking weed. I had 2 babied with me so was rightly very disgusted. It took 15 minutes to pay as their wifi was too awful to load the payment on the till. Food came out cold. Then the same mekber of staff lit another joint and walked past all the tables again

We visited and ordered food & drinks. We were disappointed that the toasting machine/grill was not working for our Tuna Melt orders. We asked for the order but not 'melted'. When this was served we did not receive the cheese which would have been melted, so after asking for a pot to be bought out, which we were given with thier regret as we were told that it doesn't normally come with cheese.... Huh! When the lady came to clear our plates , she passed on a apology from the manager about the cheese, as he had made a mistake and that it did come with cheese... a manager that doesn't know the menu Manager was not available to talk to as apparently he was extremely busy inside, I thought managers were as made to make themselves available... so the young lady who served us had to take all his flax, what kind of manager is that, an unhelpful & weak one! As we were departing the venue, another member of that staff walk out into the path of our family exiting, as I mentioned to her about social distancing, and could she not wait for us to pass, she rudely turned around and said; No I cannot wait! She was also not wearing any PPE. Shame.

The Weston Beach Cafe has very friendly staff. They were incredibly helpful and kind. The food comes quickly and is delicious. Portions are very generous. We will come back!

Popped in as a family for some fish and chips but really shocked to see no social distancing in place. The tables were not spaced out and people sat next to each other as you would expect pre covid.The only sign that changes had been made were the sauces were all in sachets on the table which I’m assuming was not the case before covid. The food was nice but the size of the fish varied greatly between 2 adult meals one had a huge piece and the other was half the size.

As locals to Weston super mare we just arrived as a group of 4 ,the young girl serving who was chatting very friendly with a customer being served seen us looking at the new Covid rules of one way traffic , she and the customer she was serving then shouts (you queue down there !!) Then pointed us down the cordoned area, my partner then joined the queue , two of our friends then went to take a seat whilst we queued to order our 4 breakfasts , however the young lady then scoweled at our friend and muttered to the guy she was still chatting too (where the hell do they think they are going !) Not realising I was stood watching her, so I told our friends to come back and said you are clearly taking enough money in to behave that way to customers, I understand tensions are high but that outburst is unacceptable ...so have popped to stones cafe and spent our money with polite staff and excellent service.... Really disappointed as often come here with friends as love to support local business...sorry guys won't be back...

We came in here during our long walk along the promenade. There is seating inside and outside, but the recent storm had done a lot of damage outside, so we decided to sit inside. We had toasted teacakes and strong black coffee which was very refreshing. Nice decor and furnishings. Very pleasant staff. I remember when this place was a beach toilet! Many's the time I took my kids in there with sandy feet...how times change!

We've eaten here a lot for breakfast and main meals. The staff are very nice but if you are making specific requests, be very clear or you'll get something completely different. The carbonara was gloopy & dried out, the chili con carne is the nicest I've ever had! The cakes are good, the breakfast is good. Watch out for the gull-thieves if you sit outside!

Asked for particular drinks, was very understanding as seemed busy after asking for 3rd time, I then got the wrong drink which I politely asked for the right drink, the first waitress said its not her problem go to the counter then next said I asked for a different drink the second time I came up! Considering I was still being polite at waiting 30 mins for my order. Very rude not acceptable service and still am waiting for the rest of my order.

Visited on a Sunday lunch time before going to see Santa at the Tropicana. We were a party of 4 adults and 4 children aged 4-10 Thanks to the young lady who took our order, she was friendly, professional and polite. What stood out to me was that all the children’s meals were brought out quickly & first which, anyone with hungry kids knows is a god send! The food was good and the prices reasonable. Would definitely return and recommend.

We were going to venture on to the pier for a walk and lunch of fish and chips but as it was a cold windy day we decided instead, as we passed, to call into this cafe. What an excellent choice. The fish and chips lunch was the best we had experienced for a long time. The portions were large especially the chips and none of the food was greasy which can sometimes be the case. Service was excellent and the staff were friendly. Reasonably priced with two fish and chip lunches together with coffees was just over £19 although this did include a £5 discount for OAP's. Great views over the beach towards the pier. Well worth a visit.

They've only gone up a little, but its enough to make you notice. It's busy in summer, but they don't recognise or are particularly friendly to locals in the winter.

This is a really lovely café. Great menu, lovely food and good portion sizes. Staff are lovely and friendly.

We popped in to have a drink and ended up eating as well as you can get an old style sandwich done the proper way. I opted for cheese and onion on white bread and it was just what I wanted: basic and tasty. Sometimes you don’t need to faff around with food as simple is sometimes best. We also enjoyed a great window view of the beach.

Can’t fault the views here. Order at the counter, quick friendly service. We all had breakfast and the prices are good nice veggie options. Bug bear for me was the latte being served in a glass, I wish people would just use cops or mugs!
