Really lovely Sunday roast And friendly staff

The overall experience was good the ladies we support at the saplings for Lifeways enjoyed there lunch at the pub.

A quiet 2pm Sunday after the rush and a dog walk 2 superb Sunday lunches hit the spot. Lovely barmaid very accommodating with our little dog. No pork scratchings but let us buy one sausage cut up for her .. Above and beyond . Will deffo return Also lovely to see the landlord behind bar and serving with a smile rare these days

It's a great place for an evening out, out door pods with heating, large screen TV, food available

I attended a funeral here, staff were very friendly, the food was very fresh, I've given 5stars for atmosphere but it was a funeral

Had to wait about 40 minutes for just a portion of chips the other day and the wine glasses had lipstick stains on them that hadn’t been washed off. Today, I saw a drug deal taking place in the beer garden. Drinks and rubbish is often left at night and still there the next morning some days - saw a seagull picking at cigarette butts. Had food from here before and had to wait a while and when it arrived, it wasn’t worth the wait. Dry pudding, too.

First time at Westbury Tavern. Had Sunday lunch for 1:00. Very surprised that only one other couple was in the restaurant side, then we were the only ones when they left. Very quite as no background music. We both had a Sunday roast lunch which was ok except for the potatoes being hard.

Really lovely pub, the food was excellent, the service was exceptional, they made us feel very welcome, definitely we will be going back, myself and hubby use to come to this pub before we were married over 35yrs ago loved it then love it now thankyou too the staff for making us welcome xx

Clean& tidy food good but prices are high atmosphere quite .

It was cheap and the waitress was very friendly but not worth it. Food was ok at best, it was either frozen out of a bag or pre cooked then microwaved.

Visited the Westbury for lunch. It was mid week so customers were mainly older generation. The young lady behind the bar was friendly . I had the fish and chips from the Main Menu, it was a good price and excellent quality. The fish was cod and a good size, the batter was crispy and golden. The chips and mushy peas could not be faulted. The whole meal was excellent value for money.

Well that is the last time we will bother with our local!!!!!! 1 member of staff incredibly rude to members of our family and the fact that other members of the team felt it necessary to tell us several times that needed to vacate by 9pm , like we didn't understand the concept of this rule 1st time with having kids with us is incredulous. Not only this but telling us to go to bar to order kids desserts after our meal (which are included in the meal price) to be told we couldn't now order them. Thanks ! We were a small group of 4 for a friday lunch, we all chose the seniors menu (£7.99 for 2 courses) The food was served quickly and was really good value for money would definitely visit again.

Expensive beer prices and £1.50 for a game of pool

Food here was hot, fresh and delicious. The steak pie was so tasty. We also had the chicken flatbread which came with Avocado, roasted peppers and onions, salad and red chillis. Both our meals were impressive and service was so fast. Not many in but pleasant and warm. Great place for footie as there are loads of screens. The area outside is big with heated huts. We will definitely be back! 👏👏👏

Unfortunately disappointed, Everyone was so pleased to see the re-opening of this much loved pub. Whether it’s winter or what, it doesn’t seem to be appreciated by everyone. Any way, food is not served between 2 and 4 any more. There is only one member of staff, multi functioning, leaving long gaps of no one to serve. They could do with a sign outside, saying that they are not serving! Save everyone having to wait at the bar for 10 minutes to be told there is no food on. Had excellent food myself.

Nice contemporary pub on the outskirts of Newcastle-under-Lyme. The pub offers a good selection of food at really good prices. The menu also includes smaller plates and OAP specials. There are limited vegetarian and vegan options. The pub is also has a good variety of beers on tap and plenty of TVs to watch all the sporting action.

Came in early evening, not realising food not served all day, had a short wait before we could order. Order placed and food came quickly. Both dishes came nice hot and freshly prepared. I had a burger, wife had hunters chicken. Can safely say the nicest we've had for a long while, thank you so much Chef. Nice and quiet in here this evening, can imagine it could get quite busy in its small dining area.

A friendly welcoming pub. We arrived a bit early for food so sat and had a drink till we could order. I had hunters chicken and husband had a burger both were excellent and we really enjoyed them, will definately be back.

Heating was broken sat in our coats freezing, food was very small portions, waited an hour for desserts ice cream sundae and choc fudge cake, won't be returning unfortunately, don't waste your money

I booked a table one day before through the website no one confirmed. I tried to call many times during the day to confirm my booking no one answered. Then I decided to bring my family to dinner. Arriving there the staff were very unfriendly they didn’t even tried to help. The saloon were empty and they said that couldn’t receive 7 people. It was cold, we came walking I had a 2yo baby with me and two old ladies. I thought that would be my family’s local pub but I was wrong. We went to the another one the Gatehouse and the service was brilliant. I don’t recommend Westbury Tavern even if I didn’t even try this place.

This is a fantastic place to get food or drinks. Staff are very polite and helpful, the lounge and the bar are both open again, with different atmospheres, both great! Since reopening, this place has got busier and busier, delighted that this is now a community pub again, with live entertainment on weekends, quizzes, decent pub food and a safe, family friendly atmosphere.

Great food, great beer, great atmosphere, great staff, great boozer had some of the small plates which were peng and the Guinness was a great drop

The pub has been open now for 1 year , well done for turning it around to a family pub , excellent entertainment is put on most weekends , Gez and family/ staff work so hard at creating a great atmosphere in the pub , they deserve all the success. Merry Christmas Guys

Thanks to Jez and the team for a wonderful evening, catering for our group of 14. Food was delivered promptly and main meals were plentiful, hot and delicious. friendly staff, great drinks and helpful staff.

Great atmosphere and really lovely staff! I went with some friends for karaoke and the pub was packed, but still got served quite quickly and staff were amazing.

We obviously came on a bad day. The very pleasant young man behind the bar was also the waiter and appeared to be the only member of staff. Did not have sufficient portions of soup and as it was only 12.30 this seems odd. We waited 1 hour for our meals despite there being few other diners. The halloumi and avocado salad consisted of lettuce leaves, halloumi, half a dozen pieces of pepper and NO avocado, in fact nothing else at all. The pies were mediocre, served with a few chips and broccoli was rubbery. Very disappointing, is Wednesday the Chefs day off.?

Our food came fast and was really delicious ,staff are all super friendly. Toilets were possibly the cleanest pub toilets I’ve ever seen too! Will definitely be visiting again in the future.

Went to the Westbury for the Christmas market and I must say it exceeded every expectation. The staff were friendly even though extremely busy and the food was incredible… bbq in the winter, is everything I never knew I needed! Thanks Jez and team 🙌

Great staff and lovely warm welcome

I have had 3 Sunday lunches here. All were the roast beef. The beef was cooked to perfection, & the cauliflower cheese was amazing. Food came out very quickly by a smiling waitress & the food was all piping hot. I would have no hesitation in recommending this pub for a Sunday Lunch. Well done to Jez, Alice & the whole team.

Booked a last minute Saturday night table for 2 on a recent overnight trip and have to say this was a fantastic find! Great food, atmosphere, service and great value for money. Very happy customer and would highly recommend a visit.

Thank you Jez and your team of staff for hosting our family event earlier in the week , although this was a sad occasion for the family as our dad had passed away we wanted to host our event at our local pub to accommodate food and drinks for all the family after the funeral service. You certainly did not let us down the food was excellent, the service exceptional and the pub was a lovely place to hold the event and ideal as family members travelled from up north and down south for the funeral and were then able to access the motorway after the event due to the pubs excellent location near commuter links. Jez was on hand all the time we were there having a presence to ensure everything went smoothly on the day so i just wanted to give a big thank you to all of the team at the Westbury Tavern and let others know that the Westbury Tavern do hold private functions for all occasions , With Thanks Tracey Edwards

Loved all of it and very dog friendly place

Thank you to Jez and his team for hosting our special event. Our requests were all met, from the buffet choices (very delicious and plenty of it), space for our numerous guests (around 200!) to even using their TVs for slide showing photographs. Jez is the most approachable and considerate man and helped make the reception special. The whole team are polite and welcoming. Thank you all for everything.

Lovely staff, but food still not up to standard. Westbury tavern why are you letting your locals down? Incorrect starter, and lasagne with all pasta and no raguu sauce? Garlic ciabata with no garlic? Third time we've tried to eat with you, within walking distance of our house. Gatehouse much better.

Great place for food, drink and atmosphere. Staff are very nice and never leave you waiting around at the bar. Carpark gets very busy even though most people inside are locals.

So pleased the Westbury Tavern has reopened again. Have been several times for a meal with friends and have enjoyed. I would like to see a few more vegetarian options on the menu. Had a great night for the New year would like to say a Big Thank you to Lisa and Staff for their hard work.

Just had lunch in Westbury Tavern 3rd February. There were a young man and a young lady serving meals and at the bar, so very polite also the service was brilliant. The meals are really good tasty and hot , I’m not a fish lover as a rule but the fish on the menu was lovely. We were asked if everything was to our satisfaction 100% it was I would highly recommend this place. We will definitely be back Thank you

Some of the worst result of food I have ever seen from a pub. 2 of the same sandwiches came out one massively bigger than the other. They only changed it after the 3rd request. Skin on fries were ordered but normal fries arrived, when asked to be changed the chef but on a pile of salt and handed back the same fries. Even the actual sandwich that came out was not up to scratch with a sad salad. And the sourdough on the sandwich was either straight up not sourdough or a very white bloomery looking sourdough. The halloumi fries were meant to come with salsa and rocket, they came with dried chilli and corriander. Shocking.

Service was slow. The new decor looked fairly nice with the biggest improvement being the outside area which looks lovely at night but rather cold as well. Unfortunately for the service, it was far from acceptable on my visit. I ordered two drinks of which were served to me within a few minutes. I had a bottle of cider and my friend a pint of lager. I noticed I had no glass and by the time I looked up there was someone else being served. I wasn't asked if I wanted a glass with my bottle. I waited until the second drink. I signalled the bar tender for a second drink and there was a young couple at the bar too soon asked the bar tender to serve them first as I'd already had one. They then continued to serve other people for the next 10 minutes regardless how many times I signalled across that I was waiting. They were really slow at serving others and a large queue had formed. We ended up leaving in the end. The bar tender had a miserable face on them for the whole time we were there and never attempted conversation. I think I'll be avoiding here for a quick friendly drink from now on.
