Dreadful service, between the 4 people we dealt with. Waited an hour for cold food (just the starters), then left abandoned after asking for it to be done again (for being cold). Ended up walking out when starters were just left with us for another 15mins.

Poor poor hotel not quite sure how this has 4.5 * rating on here room as you can see bad floorboards not put together properly no plug for bath or sink 😕 funny loud water tank noise whenever you ran taps for anything fittings hanging out ceiling food for evening meal was poor pork belly bites dry and fatty mushroom stroganoff was nice sat at breakfast typing this apple juice so weak and coffee really poor no taste don't be fooled by the glossy photos of the new wing with nice looking rooms they also have some rooms inside the pub as pictured which are not worth the money nowhere near wifi was rubbish as well kept dropping out noisy until after 11pm for obvious reasons on the plus side the TV worked and so did the limescale filled kettle 😀 staff were very nice not there fault the place is a bit of a dump !! You have been warned ⚠️ 😏 full English has just arrived looks OK 👍 wouldn't stay here again even at half the price 😞 just about to press post and a leak through the roof has just started behind me unbelievable anything else WHAT A DUMP !! not sure if you can make it out in photo I have just taken.

Stayed in a room in the main build, clean and tidy. Maybe could do with an update but is priced accordingly. No food served on a Monday which is a shame as its the day I pass through the area, so I've never got to try it. However the breakfast, English/Irish breakfast, was very good.

We booked two rooms which turned our to be outside and suited us fine. The rooms are very nice and modern. Our room though needs some work in the bathroom as there is what looks like water damage which has lifted up the worktop. The rooms could also do with a deep clean, the light fittings are very nice but do need a good dusting. And there was only 1 pillow each! The staff were all lovely and service was very good. We all really enjoyed a evening meal and the cooked breakast was plentyful and tasty. Again though, the dining area could do with improved cleaning and wiping down of seats/benches. Would we stay again, yes, but we'd would hope that the cleaning would have improved. It's not dirty, just not done good enough.

This is not the experience I was expecting when I purchased an inviting break away for 2 people from Red Letter Days. I was absolutely appalled at the state of the room we were given ,named The Bridgemere. The lighting in the room was abysmal, making it feel dark and dingy. The bathroom was shocking. The mould and mildew in the shower cubicle was totally unacceptable, as too was the flush handle on the toilet. It had obviously broken and been replaced with a bolt that made the loo uncomfortable and painful on the hand to flush. The shelf over the sink in the bathroom was also dirty with toothpaste spittle plastered underneath. The wall paper was coming off the wall and ceiling looking very unsightly and there was lots of dust on the skirting board behind the main door to the bedroom and also under the bed. I complained about the room to reception as I had booked a deluxe room and they told us all the rooms were full and could not move us. They agreed to refund £15 which was appreciated but regardless to say we will not be staying at The Wheatsheaf Inn at Onnerley or using Red Letter Days again!

I rarely ever write reviews but I have had such an easy to organise experience with this pub, I just had to. My parents celebrated their wedding anniversary today and as I live abroad, I find gifting tricky. Called in for Sunday lunch the restaurant was very quiet. We ordered the roast beef dinner which took a while to arrive. The meals were not hot indeed the only hot item was the gravy boat. The roast potatoes were hard and overcooked, cauliflower leek and Stilton tasteless, the meat was sliced thinly and we did not enjoy it at all. None of the servers approached us to enquire if everything was okay, this is common practice and always expected by customers, even when we went to pay at the bar the question was not forthcoming. Be aware that a service charge of 7.5% is added to your bill at the point of sale, we understand that this may be common practice in some places but no where did we see or were we made aware of this charge. To sum up poor service, poor food and the table was marked with circles of drink rings, obviously it had not been cleaned since the last user had left.

We visited the Wheatsheaf after having it recommended to us, we have recently moved into the area and are trying out different restaurants each month. My husband had Chicken Leek and Tarragon pie and said it was excellent however I had the Tofu with roasted vegetables and crispy noodles. I had not expected the noodles to be so dry and as such the meal only became ok to eat with some of my husbands gravy!!! Good selection of cheeses and my Salt and Pepper Squid was excellent. The service was ok however we were not asked how our meal was by any server. One member of the team was very nice but we only met her at the end of the meal.

We booked a table for 4 here for a Saturday night in August. Confirmation received by email. When we arrived the plAce wasn’t that busy but we had to wait for a table to be prepared. Ok no problem. Our order was taken eventually after asking twice for menus and after a long wait the food came which was good. I had frozen whitebait and then a steak which was very good. My wife had Sea Bream or at least half of one. That was good too but her vegetables were cold. The service was good but slow and the staff were talking to each other and not being that attentive. We came about 4 years ago and then the Wheatsheaf was excellent but we would think twice before booking again. Sad.
