The first time I came in here I got hassle from other customers. I still came back earlier in the day when it's quiet because they have a nice beer garden and they do Hop House 13 on tap, however the last 3 times I've been the beer garden has been locked up. I've asked the bar staff about it and they said it's down to the manager. The manager is never there and today is roasting hot sun and the beer garden is STILL locked up. It's disgraceful when there's a pandemic on and no excuse when the weather is like this. Not impressed at all.

We recently returned here after a visit last year that put us off. I'm glad we did... Instantly warm welcome from the owners. Instantly made us feel at home. The pub has a Pieminister only menu now. It's simple and it works. They taste great. The beer selection was superb and very well kept. A band played a bit later on who were very good and the atmosphere in the pub was excellent. Looking around there was a very wide variety of customers - nice to see and easy to understand why. Glad we returned, will be coming in more regularly now. Thanks!

Visited recently when there was a live rock band playing and had a great night. We havnt been since the menu was changed to Pieminister only and although I really miss the old food (it used to be the only affordable good quality resturant for miles) I love the pies! The price of the food is excellent as you can have a monster feed of pie, mash, mushy peas and gravy for a relatively small price tag. As always the selection of drinks was brilliant including alcohol free beer for my husband who was driving and the atmosphere was electric without being overwhelming. The band (Byte) was brilliant and we will certainly be going back again soon. Well done all!

I am guilty of reading trip advisor reviews but never submitting my own opinions. I decided to break my duck purely because i read a couple of negative reviews on this place and could not understand how their opinions were so different than my own experience. Were they at the same place!!! i visited with my wife on a Wednesday night and the place busy. The staff were polite and friendly and the decor is simple yet modern. (NB: two bad reviews state that it needs a revamp? i really dont understand that) You will not find a better selection of draft drinks at any bar or pub in Stoke. I drink larger and on offer were Becks, San Miguel, Peroni, Sam Adams and Brooklyn, its just a pity i was here on a school night! We both had fish cakes as our starter and they were wonderfully presented (Al' A Carte style) and were very tasty, the lime chilli dressing was just perfect. i had a fillet steak cooked medium rare and it was excellent, my wife had a Burger which she said was the best she had ever had. (NB2: £8.50 for a homemade burger with cheese, onions, bacon, home made chips and cajun mayo is a bargain. one reviewer seems to think this place is expensive!!! i think they must generally order from the comforts of their car!) The only very slight critisism was that we struggled to find our way in, the owners informed us that the front door remains closed when the weather is cold, so you have to use the rear entrance. overall i really recommend this place.

Visited this pub on a weeknight... new to the area and looking for good quality food. When we arrived we were the only people eating, weren't put off by this but did make me feel that it would be better to visit on a weekend. The service was generally pleasant, although disappointingly one of our starters was not as described. We queried this with the waiter, who returned and politely explained that we were incorrect. I can confidently say that this was not the case. I felt that my main course was a slight disappointment... it lacked flavour and was very average. This was my second choice after it transpired some of the meals from the specials board were no longer available.I think this pub is fairly priced considering its home cooked nature. Quality would undoubtedly suffer if they lowered the price. On paying the bill, it turned out that the waiter had not informed the manager of our earlier query. This seemed odd... the chef came over and reiterated his claim regarding the starter, which was fair enough, however I still feel that we were justified and that the starter should have been removed from the bill. Will return soon, maybe at the weekend to see the place busy and experience some more of the atmosphere. Hopefully the food will live up to its reputation!

I have eaten 5 or 6 times at The Plough and agree with the praise in previous reviews.Quality food in local pubs is not easy to find, with most in the area relying on reheated frozen food (which I dislike) or buffets (which I really dislike). It was refreshing to find the Plough has a good and regularly refreshed food menu and that the food is clearly fresh. I have been particularly impressed with some of the 'Specials' which change regularly and are excellent value for money (a current offer is £10 for a rump steak meal with a small glass of wine or a pint included). The choice of beers and other drinks is also very good and again better quality than the norm, the bar-staff have always been extremely friendly. If you are looking for good beer and quality, fresh food I would definitely recommend a visit.

Food no complaints, however when I have gone to pay this pub a visit I have found it to be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays and it was a short while ago closed for almost three weeks? How do they keep any regular clientele and what about the quality of the beer, surely beer standing with no use for over two days can't be a good thing, I wouldn't like to be the first customer on a Wednesday evening.

Tobelerone cake a big hit with my family. Will visit again soon.

I first went to this place when I was a child, with my Dad for a bottle of pop and a bag of crisps. When I returned to the newly refurbished Plough, I expected to see Owd Ted up the corner with his Crib Board - How wrong I was! This place has been totally refurbished, and to the credit of the owners (who introduced themselves as Ian and Mandy) they have done the pub, and themselves, proud. I was welcomed as if I was stepping into their home, and shown to a table. It was as if I was being treated to a special occasion from start to finish (I recommend the steak, cooked to perfection. My Wife had the curry with equally rave reviews). After the meal I stopped behind to chat with the staff, and once again felt like I'd been going there for years. I'd definately go back, and would recommend that if you're in Kidsgrove, you try this lovely place. You'll see from my other reviews that I have not been so complimentary about other pubs and restaurants, but I feel that praise is due where it's due, and Ian and Mandy deserve it.

Wow. What a lovely lovely pub. Start from the start: Landlord and Landlady were behind the bar, chatting to the regulars and they instantly made an effort for us, saw to us straight away with our drinks. We ordered with a lovely waitress called Jess. Food didn't take long for something that was clearly homecooked. Very filling, didn't need a desert but then again we aren't desert people. Booked in their twice since and never found a bad thing to say. Couldn't recommend this place more!

Myself and my family have called into the Plough many times sometimes for meals but other times just for drinks. The building itself (Apparently the oldest building in Kidsgrove) is fitted out to a very high standard with wooden floors and very modern/high quality furniture. The owners and staff are always very friendly and welcoming to both regular and casual visitors and this together with the modern contemporary feel of the interior gives an overall relaxing and comfortable atmosphere. The Plough serves a wide range of modern beer's such as San Miguel, Becks, Leffe, Erdinger etc but this is also balanced by award winning local guest ales.Everything on the menu is fresh and home cooked with a specials board and also a selection of smaller meals for the lighter appetite. When we visit on a Friday night we are able to have a nice meal and then enjoy the free live entertainment. The bands are very well selected and seem to really enjoy performing at the Plough giving it a great all round atmosphere. I cannot be thankful enough to have a pub like the Plough in Kidsgrove, as a busy professional working in Congleton I can honestly say - This pub/restaurant was just what Kidsgrove needed !

We loved the Plough!! The food is all home cooked and freshly prepared. All the staff are very friendly and make you feel very welcome. The atmosphere is superb!! It's not your run of the mill pub it's got a much nicer feel to it when you go in and it makes a great change to have a pub/restaurant which doesn't serve frozen and nasty food. The toilets are always immaculately clean and fully supplied. Highly recommended!!!

Have came up to this area for a few days and was looking for somewhere to go to grab breakfast or lunch. We found the place easily enough with the sat nav and when we drove in, there is a flag outside
