Great local pub. With very friendly people and staff. They make everyone feel welcome. Live music at weekend's with a good mix of music. Ample parking.

My group had main meals and desserts, a mixture of the special £6.95 deals and 2 for £18. Everyone's plates were empty, we all loved our meals, service was really good. Desserts delicious.

Good food. Reasonably priced. Well cooked and presented. Friendly staff. Will definitely return.

Friendly, local pub with nice views, and only a short hike from Mow Cop Castle, which has even better views. Good beer and always a warm welcome.

I was really disappointed 😞 southern fried cajun chicken had no cajun spice at all I am a chef.and was gobsmacked at the overall quality of the food and felt like I was eating at a bus station cafe . I live very close by so have been a long time ago and back then the food was lovely .I would consider looking at who cooked the offending so called cajun chicken on the 14 Sep 24 xx hopefully I have not offended anyone.

Had a fantastic experience tonight, table for 5 and we all loved our meal and the service was amazing nothing was too much trouble for the staff, (didn’t catch the lady’s name but she also works as a nurse too) Very friendly and helpful lovely meal and very well priced for good home cooked food ! We will definitely be coming back A+++

The food was good and plentiful, the staff helpful even though they were busy. Had a bit of a wait due to the amount of people there, but I didn't mind as I wasn't in a rush. The only reason gave 3 *for atmosphere was the large party and kids, it was a little noisy but they left and the volume went down. We then sat outside in the sun to finish our drinks with a cracking view. But a great place to have food and have some meal deals.

Lovely food, reasonably priced. Would be great if did offers on desserts. Staff friendly. We had the 2 for £18 but no offer of the tea or coffee that comes with it,

Just been for the first time it was amazing the staff are so friendly and made you feel so welcome we sat outside so my grandson played for a while then we went in for food we all had something different on the £6.95 menu it was gorgeous great value the beers were great too. Will definitely be going back

Booked for lunch and found the staff very friendly and helpful - nothing was too much trouble. Food was excellent proper home cooked food - nice to go somewhere where they do proper chips. Will definitely return.

Fantastic service, visted with my mum and little boy, we were greeted on arrivle shown straight to a table offer a high chair, drinks offered straight away, we then asked for time to look at the menu, food ordered and brought to the table promptly, we then were approached and asked how our food was which on most places you don't get the anymore, meals were Fantastic service amazing! Look forward to coming again!

Bar area a bit dark and lacking in seating. As we were a large party we filled most of it. Food was amazing. Staff in the restaurant were really helpful.

Nice meal, nice pint, friendly polite staff, sat outside in the 30 minute dry spell looking at the lovely views.

5 meals and two were not edible. Rude waitress. My meal was replaced but even that was dire and worse than the first meal, think they just reheated the original one. Never to return.

Popped in with friends to this dog friendly pub / restaurant for a mid-day meal. Really nice friendly service, great food and nice selection of drinks... We're definitely going back.

Well what an amazing surprise.. fish, chips and mushy peas for under £6 although i did have the large size !! Shock!! And it was damned tasty, lovely bit of fish 🐟 in batter and glorious brown chips , tasty ,tasty ,tasty . Beer was something else also 🍺perfect to the bottom of the glass , lovely outside areas with stunning views, a must for summer ☀️ staff were friendly and helpful.. what a great 👍 pub 🍺🍺see you again soon

Way too expensive, e.g. half a coke costs £2.50 a time, double Brandy costs £6, they allow vaping indoors, they serve underage people

Good pub food and good selection of beers and ciders. Sunday menu has no vegetarian main course but there was a halloumi stack starter and quite honestly the vegetables that came with the roast would make a more than adequate meal on their own. Will come again.

Friendly pub. The food all seemed to be prepared from scratch on the premises and was delicious and great value.

This pub is amazing can't fault it would give more stars if I could. My son has food issues and is very fussy about what he eats but cleared 3 courses on my last visit which he rarely does even at home. Very friendly staff defo wortha visit

Most pubs I’ve been to have been warming and welcoming to anyone who walks through the door (hello, how are u , what can I get u sir), not here, I was made to say sorry within 10 minuets of being there, for what I have no idea, I mean, how embarrassing is that, and apparently asking for ‘a pint please’ is insulting and rude to the bar staff. Just toxic and rude, bad vibes. Military servicemen not welcome :(

Just popped in after seeing the Christmas lights opposite. I've been there several times over the years. Not had food this time, but the Pedigree was a welcome pint.

Just had Sunday Roast here and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We thought it was a decent plate full.

Came here with the kids on a sunny day, absolute gem of a pub, great value and great food. Kids play area is great and you get stunning views outside. Will be back and would recommend!

The worst meal I have ever experienced whilst visiting the UK. Ordered the fillet steak to share and asked for a second plate and was refused. There policy is they do not give out another plate…the steak was order medium and came out medium rare at best with no caramelisation, chips were soggy, hard tomatoes and peas microwaved. We were the only two people in the restaurant and now I know why !!!!

We stopped by on our small hike from the canal (narrowboat holidays) to Mow Cop Castle. This pub has separate seatings for serviced and self service areas. When we stated that most of our party is vegan the service presented us an extra menu with numerous vegan options. We had the jacket potatoe with beans and vegan cheese, chips and garlic bread with and without vegan cheese. All was very fine including the service. One of our kids (the single meat eater of the party) said: "At first I wasn't sure that this hike was really worth the hassle. But the visit to this pub made it absolutely worth it." Note: There's a small, rather direct footpath to the pub when you descend from Mow Cop Castle. The path is not on google maps but openstreemap or another good map should show it.

Been here quite a few times and always found it to be lovely but the last two occasions have not been good. They have clearly had a new chef and it shows. Food was served burnt (actually black), pie was dry, gravy was insipid and the chips were not up to the usual tasty standard. Real shame when it was previously very nice. Hope they can get a better replacement chef soon.

This is a lively place to come with children as there is a wonderful play area outside. Food prices average, service was friendly and quick. Not much choice for vegetarians or vegans so worth ringing ahead to check what is on the menu.

Waited an hour and half for an overpriced tiny I mean less than a starter tiny very unappetising hunters chicken mixed grill went back 90 minutes for rubbish And then they charged me for the privilege

Nice pub. The pork belly starter was good, so was the burger and the seabass. However, the Hunters chicken was oily yet dry, with quite miserable looking (reheated) fries. So the food can vary a bit.

Had the homemade pie it was lovely and the chips were fantastic 👏

Had a fantastic Sunday roast here recently, probably the best I've had at a pub. I asked if they had any sauces (horseradish/cranberry) they had everything but didn't really need it as there was so much flavour already on the plate!

Went a few day's ago absolutely terrible food we paid the bill told the girls how bad the food was and left,the girls who I will add were lovely and very professional came out to the car park and gave us some money back....on the plus side it's a lovely setting and a nice environment just please sack the kitchen staff.

The ash Inn is a lovely place but today we had sunday lunch and dissapointed that the standards in our opinion fell short of our previous visit. Mainly the food the beef was sliced so thin you could see through it and the Yorkshire pudding were not cooked enough. Sorry Kelly but felt you meed to know as you were not there.

Horrific food over cooked service poor do not listen to a simply order one thing the ash has always been know for is the " ash chips " best chips in Staffordshire quality is amazing the past twice we have been they are nowhere to be seen lol if they want to keep there original customers aswel as gain new I suggest they revert back to there old food ways and great service.

Very good service and food, which arrived quickly, although it was not busy while we were there. Their big menu has something for everyone. It a has traditional look inside with a contemporary colour scheme outside and decking area to use a big panoramic view over the countryside. We were both very happy with our food, of which there was plenty for a big appetite. My companion enjoyed the cajun chicken. I tasted a little of that cajun sauce, it was excellent, rich creamy and with the right amount of fire. My surf and turf sirloin steak, which I asked for rare, could have have been a little more rare for me, but that is matter of personal taste that the chef cannot second guess. It could also have been given a minute in a very hot pan to get some extra flavour by browning it a little on the outside, but it was excellent anyway. The prawn topper was also excellent, not overcooked and dry as is so common. The mushrooms were well cooked and full of flavour rather than being undercooked insipid and wet which is also common, so they added to the dish rather than just taking up space. Onion rings were light, not oily, again something to enjoy rather than just add calories. The Stilton sauce was rich and very tasty, helping everything on the plate. It is easy to get Stilton sauce wrong, with too much or too little Stilton, or too runny or thick. This meal near perfect example of a something I have had so many times. Glad we visited.

The bar tables were sticky and the bar man had a cold and sneezed into his hand while serving without cleaning it

We had dinner here on Friday evening 29th July and our youngest got food poisoning. The only thing she ate that the rest of us didn't was the sausages.
