Paul and Angela are excellent hosts. The breakfast was nicely cooked and all you'd want to start the day - quality and quantity. Rooms on the small side especially the twin which was cramped. The nicely done out bathroom was shared by four of us but that wasn't an issue. Convenient for the pub next door!

I stayed at West Winds B&B for a night while walking the Dales Way. I got a really warm welcome and everything was clean, organised and well thought out. Very comfortable bed and a fantastic breakfast the following morning. The packed lunches are recommended too! I'll visit again if I can.

On holiday in the Dales, eight of us who had been on three different walks converged on West Winds tearoom. It was busy, and full up inside (not surprising as it was a sunny Saturday afternoon) but there was a table free in the most delightful garden, bright with late summer flowers. We were told we would have to wait 20 - 25 minutes, but it didn’t seem that long when out order arrived. The tea pot came with extra hot water, always a sign of a class establishment, but what surprised me was that my fruit scone, and the cheese scone ordered by one of my friends were already buttered. And for the person who ordered a cream tea, the jam and cream were already on the scone. The scones all seemed to be freshly baked, and there was a choice of cakes which other members of the party sampled.

We stopped for afternoon tea and the tearooms look lovely but the welcome was warm and friendly. What lets this place down is the lack of hospitality, no warmth from the host. We had a dog and was told we had to sit outside, that’s fine then the rain started. We moved indoors, I had to have my tea on the stairs in the porch while I looked after my dog. How many cages would allow a customer to sit on the stairs. You can't leave a dog tied up. In this day and age, most hotels and cafes allow well behaved dogs in. I work for a luxury hotel company and dogs are very welcome in our hotels. It wasn’t busy so they could have made an exception, it's thier cafe but it's how they looked after their customers is my concern. The lack of friendliness made this visit my last. If you have a dog try somewhere else.

The health of my pet chimp "Norman" has deteriorated significantly since his untimely and unexpected death following a cycling accident near the village of Buckden in 2017. Each year I return to Buckden to celebrate this amazing chimpanzees life and reminisce on the many happy times we shared together cycling the length and breadth of the Yorkshire Dales.

Beware of the stairs down from the bathroom, rooms are small but in keeping with the cottage. Beds v comfortable and it’s lovely and quiet. A delicious breakfast, welcoming host and the ‘legendary’ packed lunch truly was - gorgeous homemade cake and the best ham and pickle sandwiches!

Although I’ve stayed in Buckden before yesterday was the first time I had visited and how I regret it. A lovely tearoom with hospitable friendly staff. The menu is varied so there is something for everyone. I chose the cheese scone with cream cheese and smoked salmon, beautiful as was the chose of filter coffee. Would recommend highly and I hope to visit again when I’m next in the dales.

We recently went to West Winds for lunch. We chose the venison & ale pie with salad and home made sloe gin jelly and followed this with a cake and a pot of tea. The pie was packed with meat and was delicious, especially combined with the salad and jelly and the cake was, quite literally, amazing! We find this traditional Yorkshire tea room very enjoyable and also the food is delicious and often unusual. It is a refreshing change. Peter and Sue

I searched quite extensively for affordable accomodation on the Dales Way and West Winds fit the bill. I arrived late and I thought this may be a problem but Stephen was completely fine with this and showed me to my room and advised that if I wanted some food that the Buck Inn were still serving. I had a great night sleep and woke up to a brilliant breakfast which set me up for my long walk that day. I wasnt expecting the quality of the service considering how much I paid. I would highly reccomend West Winds Yorkshire Tearooms and I can definitely see myself returning in the future.

We went for lunch and without doubt, everything is indeed home made. My ham sandwich was superb but my husband's quiche a little bit light on filling - but he did admit, some prefer that. His only disappointment was the rather weak coffee - again a matter of preference although he prefers it stronger.

We visited on a Sunday afternoon expecting it to be busy so booked beforehand. Had wanted to sit outside in the garden as was a beautiful day but was unable to because there were bench type tables and I couldn’t get my leg over to sit down, so we ate inside and were the only people in there. Yes was lovely choice of sandwiches with fresh herby salad scones with jam and cream and choice of home made cake. I had to take some home as I could not eat it all. There is a lovely garden full of herbs and a quaint toilet up the garden with a blackboard for messages well worth a visit

After a very hot first days walking we arrived exhausted in buckden. Our host made us a welcome cup of tea and we had the best Yorkshire curd tart any of us had ever tasted. The rooms are old fashioned with a dangerous step out of the bathroom overhanging the stairs but for us this all added to the quirky charm. No ensuite! There couldn't have been a warmer welcome though or a more hospitable hostess. The food here clearly makes up for the lack of facilities. Breakfast was toasted museli with honey and yogurt. We chose to forgo the cooked. Our packed lunch was a generous sandwich with fruit and homemade cake of your choice. We will be back to visit the cafe.

Tucked away in a quiet lane these tea rooms are a very pleasant blast from the past. The floral tea cups and saucers were like Sunday tea at grandmother's. Only had tea and cake so can't comment on the wider menu; however a finer cup of tea you wouldn't find and the cakes were delicious with a homemade quality. We were unfortunately relegated to the garden as the place is not dog friendly (my only cristicism) but that in itself was a pleasant experience given the country cottage feel. Inside, the tea rooms are quaint and old fashioned in an appealing way. Service was good with very pleasant and polite waitresseses.

Walking the Dales Inn Way so Buckden is an obvious night stop and there is little accommodation. This Tea Room (yes it is actually a tea room -they still exist) also does B&B. It is small , I think it has only 2 singles and a double and as my two male hetrosexual friends found out it is not two singles! You are met by complimentary Tea and cake which was very welcoming. The stairs are quite narrow and steep so it won't suit all. There is a shared bathroom with bath but no shower unless you want to attach rubber hoses to the taps. It is not suitable for the elderly or infirm as the access to the bathroom is actually part of the stairs, so you could easily walk out and find yourself down the stairs. They dont do meals but the Buck Inn is just opposite and there is sometimes a small restaurant open in the village. A very friendly stay.

Being in idyllic surroundings is what the Dales are all about. The garden fits that criteria and to cap it off the cakes and drinks are sublime. Cannot fault it. Our little boy is wheelchair bound and though I managed the stairs I noted that the flat path was a little overgrown with nice flowers. I would have damaged them had I gone that way. I did not go inside but my wife assures me it was lovely. You will not be disappointed.

This is a great little find. A tea room behind the Buck Inn at Buckden. They serve locally sourced food and freshly baked. We had tea for two, a cheese sandwich and a scone (jam and cream) each. The quality of the tea and food was excellent. The sandwich was really tasty, the scone really high quality. The staff were really pleasant. The location is excellent. The quality of the tea room and quaintness made for a really lovely stop off.The overall cost was around £10 which we thought was very good value.

Myself and my husband visited here on bank holiday Sunday. We had some really lovely food and lovely service by a young girl who is a credit to the west winds. I ordered a tuna mayonnaise sandwich which was described on the menu as pole and line caught which I thought was a great thing to put as I would never order tuna mayo while out just in case it was cheap tuna that normally is very fishy which I hate. I saw it was in brown bread which I cant have, so asked if I could have it in white and the lovely waitress said they didn't have white sliced bread but they could do it in a white roll which was lovely and fresh with a crusty top. I also ordered some really nice cheese and caramelised onion crisps which come in a lovely resealable tube which was great and very tasty. My husband went the complete opposite and had sausages in gravy in a large Yorkshire pudding, served with homemade mint sauce, followed by homemade blackberry pie and ice cream. He said it was all delicious and we had this with tea for two. The menu is refreshingly different you can have a cold sandwich like me or home made pies of all sorts of fillings along with many cakes, and all the items have a detailed info on were they are sourced really nice touch. You can also buy anything to take away we bought some wensleydale cheese with fruit cake which is gift wrapped in a lovely box with ribbon and also there are jams and many other items to buy as gifts. If you go to Buckden and would like a home made meal give them a go. They also do B&B
