Wow. What a lovely menu. Very cheap and good quality. We visited there with 3 border collies and they made us very welcome. Wish we lived closer we would be in there every day. Thanks guys

Conveniently situated 5 minutes from the ferry port, West Quay was welcoming, dog friendly and excellent value with nearby parking. We had the super value big breakfast. Spoiled for choice the cafe’s varied menu caters for all tastes and dietary requirements at a budget price. Don’t waste your time or money with food and drinks on the ferry. Enjoy brunch on arrival here instead. We will definitely be back.

Over the past few Months I have been going to various Cafe's looking at the various breakfast being served and commenting on the food and customer service This is the first time to this small café. in Newhaven I found customer service was satisfactory the staff appeared to be friendly. Table service was as you would expect in a small café. My cooked Breakfast this morning was I am sorry to say not to the standard I have eaten at other places. Although the price was also less than the others £17 for two of us. others have been on average £30. A big difference One egg one sausage and 3 pieces of bacon with beans or tomatoes. one slice of bread cut in half plus one pat of butter. There was no offer of wholemeal bread so I was served with white bread I asked for Poached egg but was served with fried. (I admit I did not question this error) My biggest regret was the cooked bacon. I'm sorry to say I was extremely disappointed with the bacon. I found it was very fatty and undercooked. I will say that this little café could be a winner But I'm sorry the breakfast needs to be upgraded. Other food served I cant answer for. I would love to return again and hopefully see an improved breakfast Bacon needs to be crispier bread alternative and change them awful bland sausages even if it means increasing your prices.

Went here for breakfast and was massively disappointed. Upon walking in to the place, I said good morning to no reply! Ordered 2 breakfasts, which varied slightly as requested, and both were very poor. The mushrooms seemed to be tinned as they had no flavour, all remaining items were frozen, bread was one slice only covered in butter, the bubble was either pickled or covered in some sauce, either way it wasn't nice! The staff working then popped out for a cigarette and returned without washing their hands as well. Needless to say, I won't be retuning!

MORE AT TripAdvisor

Newhaven is an appalling place. There is almost no-where even half-decent to have dinner in the evening. Cafes are almost all of the ‘Greasy Spoon’ variety. We stumbled onto the West Quay Café by chance after along the coast from Brighton and arriving in Newhaven via the Fort. The cafe is not in the town itself but on the edge of Newhaven’s less than impressive marina. The first impression was favourable, despite the inappropriate Gothic lettering of ‘West Quay Café’. Inside the tables and chairs were much superior to the usual ‘Greasy Spoon’ standard. It was clean and there was an attempt at style. However, the proprietors would do well to take lessons in how to deal with customers – other people in general, even. We sat down waiting for service but no service came. Instead I went to the counter. Neither the man nor woman behind the counter were friendly. They were unsmiling and abrupt to the point of rudeness. In this respect they were typical examples of homo-Newhaven.On the positive side we were surprised to find Eggs Benedict on the menu. My wife went for the Eggs Benedict and I ordered a bacon sandwich. We both ordered tea. Tea arrived at the table with a tea bag in the mug and milk already added. Despite the proprietors’ efforts to sabotage the tea, it was fine. To my wife’s great surprise the Eggs Benedict were good and the proprietor actually smiled as he delivered it to the table. I certainly had no complaints about my bacon sandwich. There was no attempt to appear slightly upmarket by adorning the bacon sandwich plate with a few crisps or lettuce and tomato. In this respect the presentation was strictly ‘Greasy Spoon’. The total cost for our lunch was less than £10. Back in Lewes we would have paid £30 for the same.Verdict: Despite the proprietors' concerted attempts at being unfriendly and their gauche interaction with customers, we would go to the West Quay Cafe again. It was excellent value for money and there is no cafe better in Newhaven.

We are locals and walk this way almost every day we thought we would give it another try for their "Sunday Roast" Four of us ordered their roast, the vegetables are microwaved, meat was dry!but above all the potatoes are deep fried and they cannot make gravy! the portions are small for the price, We did'nt feel comfortable enough to stay for coffee as the LOUD owners walked in with no smiles for their customers.

Friendly little caffee. We had a traditional breakfast and it was good. We even had the sausage and we normally do not eat the sausage.
