Fish was excellent, chips were crappy, stale, old... People were friendly.

Osborne's are the best in seaford.

Fancied a treat so popped into Osbornes as they've always been good. Ordered cod and chips. The cod was OK but the chips were disgusting I couldn't eat them. They tasted like they been heated up from lunchtime.

Very good Food was good And service was good.

Have used Osborne's for the last 6 years and found them always consistent in the quality of their food. Lovely fresh fish and "proper" chips. They offer special pensioner deals which are a generous portion. Cash payment only but I fully agree as we are far too reliant on card payments and to coin a phrase "use it or lose it".

Haddock, cod, plaice excellent. Chips never greasy and traditional thick cut - not French Fries matchsticks - with crispy bits as well. All available 7 days a week

Very average. They packaged a fish cake and sausage in the same carton, which was not ideal.

Loverly food have been using this shop for years but have just had my first complaint as some of the order was missing. So after driving back to the shop (4miles) to ask for the order to be remade so it would be hot and fresh I was greated with a refund and told to go up the road for my food. The two girls serving were more interested in chatting to each other rather than serving so I'm not surprised they get it wrong. Would never use them again.

I would not recommend anyone with food allergies to go near this restaurant. I called before hand to make sure whether my son could eat there. The person in the phone didn’t know the basics. A person working in a fish and chips shop should know the ingredients their menu items are prepared with. A person working in food and beverage has to know about food allergens. However, this place is clueless. I then got a “manager’ telling me she couldn’t tell me the ingredients of the batter and she couldn’t ask the chef as he could only speak mandarín. As a hotelier and a long career in the hospitality industry I can only say how unprofessional they are. I would not go near this place even if I didn’t have food allergies. If you work in this industry have the courtesy to prepare yourself and have knowledge of your products.

Regular of this place went to purchase something following the menu price was informed that the prices actually gone up by 10p so they were keeping my money and I was having a different meal when I went to complain the very large over overbearing fryer locked eyes on me and made me feel too uncomfortable to complain

My first visit And my last! When I went into the shop the assistants were giggling out of control. The assistant took my order (still giggling). It wasn't till I got home I realised I was given the wrong food. Also the chips were dry & mostly bits. Sadly, never again.

Yet another fantastic meal, large cod was meaty, tasty and the batter, light and crunchy. Two burgers, cooked perfectly with crunchy chips. Staff were attentive, polite and welcoming

We had the ‘senior’s’ portions of fish and chips and took them to the beach. Absolutely delicious! Would highly recommend, despite being cash only.

Delicious fresh fish and chips at reasonable prices. They have two window seats inside as well. If not you can take your fish and chips down by the beach to enjoy. It was around 4pm when we walked by and already it was busy. We came back around 5pm when we visited and we just managed to get our order in and get the two seats before it got really busy. Service was fast. Food was piping hot, fresh and delicious with friendly servers. Definitely recommend and will be back next time I'm visiting seaford

Lovely chips, shame the girl behind the counter couldn't answer a simple question about what was actually already cooked and ready to go as I was short on time but instead insisted it didn't matter because I'd have to wait while 2 others were served anyway. I wasn't trying to jump the queue, I was asking to order something I didn't have to wait for. You asked what I wanted to order and again I asked what was ready and you turned your back on me and waved your arm? Rude, just plain rude

now im not so sure,inconsistent ,same old thing ,ive been a few more times since my first review and sorry to say its hit and miss,went this evenig ,large cod ,large chips,couple of drinks,8;10 so nearly closing ,chips were awful ,reheated ,hard ones among them ,not one was crispy ,batter was overdone on fish ,now i know this fryer can do it better, im goig to go back to lexdens tho i prefer osbournes ,just that its inconsistent now ,easily slipping after a good start

Soggy - is the best word I can find to describe the food I had from here: it describes the fish, the chips and the mushy peas - both in terms of flavour, and texture. A very uninspiring eat. Which is a shame, because the staff are lovely and you get your meal in a nice box.

Superb! Couldn't fault it. Piping hot, perfectly cooked, not greasy at all. Beautifully seasoned. (Had 2 medium cod & chips, 2 kids cod & chips and spam fritters & chips, with mushy peas and a picked egg.) Portion sizes were generous.

Great asset to Seaford. Are more reliable than the other fish and chip shop in town in that they are more likely to be open and still have some fish left. Fish and chips are tasty with sensible sized portions. Remember they are cash only.

Delicious fish and chips. Turned up in a large party and they managed well with us adding to a queue that was already out the door. Good stuff.

We have been to Osborne's a few times over the last year and have enjoyed nice fresh fish and good fries however our last visit on friday lunchtime was a big disappointment. The cod was very tough, tasteless and old looking. It could easily have been yesterdays reheated. I should have walked back to complain but it was a cold day and I chose to phone up and leave a message before writing this review. I did not receive a response. Would be one star had not the previous fish been so good, pehaps it was a "one off"........ but I would hesitate before going again.

Yesterday I was peckish and for the shortage of fish restaurants in this country and been in Seaford I decided to try FISH AND CHIPS at Osborne' s. We ordered two different meals FISH CAKE with salt and vinegar chips and haddcok with chips and one coke, to take away. We mention twice that we would like salt and vinegar on our meals with the addition of 1 coke and unfortunally when we open the bag there was no coca cola or salt and vinegar on the chips. This was a hugue desappointment as by now we were on the seafront and this meant to go back to collect what we had paid for, when I arrived to the shop I was lucky to catch them because they were closing. Besides all the mistakes and all the unconveniences the meal was fine.

What a huge disappointment! Seaford's best fish and chips??? Really??? The fish hadn't been seasoned, saveloy was tasteless and chips were soggy. Everything dripping in oil. Absolutely disgusting!

Just picked up fish, chips and saveloys - must have been sitting there for ages everything was cold after a short drive up the road home waste of £19.40!!!!

A great meal, unbelievably quick from order to collection and £4.85 for a hearty, tasty dinner. Highly recommended

Terrible service, wait for almost 30 minutes for an order. There was no organisation on the queue, customer didn’t know where to order or collected. Not coming back here.

Usual mixed reviews so gave it a go. Happy with the portions and quality of fish and chips. Only criticism being that they didn’t put enough salt and vinegar on. But this seems common “plaice” haha, these days. Maybe I’ll ask for extra next time. Cash only, strange but true.

These fish and chips are the best I've had for years! I've had so many dreadful experiences that I'd given up hope if finding anything like this. A large fresh fish with light, crispy batter, 'proper' chips and the mushy peas tasted like..... peas! Takes me back to happy childhood memories of fish and chips out of newspaper. These tasted just as good.

Had a large cod, no chips. Beautifully cooked quality fish. Thoroughly recommended, fast service, nearby parking, close enough to walk to the beach to eat.

found this only a few weeks ago ,ive only been twice but wow,exceptional cod n chips huge thick fillet ,a game changer,its5 miles from me and i wold pass several known chippys but i will go out of my way for this place...10/10

Best fish and chips in Seaford by far

We drive past and wondered why there was a queue. We went for a drink at a nearby pub there was still a queue. We decided to try and people were queuing behind us including a motorcycle club. There’s a reason for the queue and that is probably the best fish & chips I’ve ever had! I always like fish and chips but find the batter can repeat on me. No such thing here just out and out quality.

Very fast service and freshly cooked fish and chips. We went for Meal 1 : 4 medium cods and 2 large chips... The portions were very generous but the cod was quite bland. Next time we'll go for the haddock. Downside : Payment in cash only.

We day trip to Seaford all the time and today thought we'd have fish and chips on the beach, chose Osborne from the reviews and we weren't disappointed. Friendly staff, freshly cooked food and piping hot. We sat on the beach in the evening sun and is was delicious, we will return. Thank you

Portion size wouldn't even fill and siberian chipmunk let alone yellow neck harvest mouse. This certainly isn't the place to chip if you happen to be a monk!!!!

This was our first visit to Osborne's, and we will certainly return. It was a lovely sunny day, and we had not had fish and chips since November 2020, due to the lockdown. The fish was simply superb.....a large cod with large portion of chips....beautiful white flakes in a lovely thin batter. Chips were very good ...soft in centre and lightly cooked on the outside. We are pensioners so the portion size was excellent for the two of us to eat near the beach, with hot chocolate from the local kiosk. The young lady who served me was friendly and helpful., and dressed the meal with salt and vinegar. The fish was in a convenient box, and wooden forks were provided. A lovely meal enjoyed in the first real sun of 2021

Order from Osbourne's fish and chips tonight never used before but will not use again fish was cold pies were so hard could throw against the wall savolys hard and cold chips cold really was not nice at all curry sauce no flavour at all so will not be going back

They had actually just closed when we arrived but opened up again and took our order so we were already impressed . Then we tasted our fish and chips and they were delicious - not greasy, very tasty fish and yummy battered sausage. Highly recommend

The fish and chips were nothing special. Granted, they were nice, but for the cost, I would expect far more unfortunately. You can get better for cheaper if you shop around.

Had a fish and chip supper with the family, crispy battered cod, crunchy chips and 4 empty plates. Safe distancing observed when collecting our food.

How do they do it the fish is just the best and I don’t normally eat chips but there’s none of them left . alway have small fish & chips less is definitely moorish.

It doesn't matter if you are a restaurant or a chippy. The staff should know better about customer service (it was one of the two ladies packaging the food arguing that I placed the wrong order over the phone). A part from that, we liked our fish and chips.

Medium chips tonight, perfect portion, delicious.

We had the worst fish & chips we have ever had here. The cod was rubbery and so chewy, in the places where it wasn’t rubbery it was hard. It was actually inedible and we ended up throwing them both away. This is definitely not fresh fish, it must have reheated - it was tasteless and disgusting, the batter was also awful, the only taste was of old fat. How this place has 5 stars is baffling, I wouldn’t have given it a 1 if that was an option. It was a total waste of money.

Never had fish as bad as here, rubber and hard comes to mind. Do not use them, you WILL be disappointed.

Definitely not fresh fish used in this shop, unless they keep the awful fish for the not locals. The worst fish and chips we have ever had. The cod was so rubbery and tasteless, you couldn’t bite into it as it was that rubbery, it must have been frozen for months - it was inedible, we ended up giving it all to the seagulls - total waste of money. I’d have given it no stars if I could have.

Quite disappointed...I'd walked past on numerous occasions, and it was always busy (which is always a good sign) but I can't say it was worth the wait. Being from up North, I love a good fish and chips but the fish was very greasy and the chips were really tasteless. I can't say I'll be rushing back...

The chips are generous in number and not greasy whilst the fish is chunky and fresh-- cooked as perfectly as fish and chips from god's own county --unbeatable in east sussex and i have tried the lot.

Lovely staff and good value for money. Fish was lovlely and not too much batter. Large portion served in a box so easy to eat.

I've been back twice recently and have to say it's not as good as it was. OK it's difficult under Covid restrictions, but the confused queue to order and the other queue to collect aren't the issue. It's that the food recently hasn't been as good. Soggy chips and too much batter on the fish.

Spent the weekend in Seaford and walked the beautiful cliffs, again. Dropped in for fish and chips and by god, they were good. I usually give fish a miss as the batter is too much for me but this was delicate and tasty and the chips were spot on.I'll be back in Seaford in September and will be going back for more.

I had a large order to place. The staff were polite and accommodating. I didn't wait very long and the fish and chips were delicious, beautifully cooked, crispy batter, tasty white and flaky cod, fell apart in your mouth. The chips were crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle .HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Got my order wrong...put chips in sweaty bag I specifically asked them not to do... inadequate salt and vinegar and when asked to remedy situation...was told ...we are busy .....bad food. Rude staff...v disappointed ...go somewhere else

Great takeaway, enjoyed every mouthful. Have missed during lockdown, as our local fish and chip shops in newhaven don't compare. Rather travel to seaford for a decent bit of fish.

We had the worst take away fish and chips ever this evening - tough, dried-out cod that had obviously been around a long time, hidden under a mountain of slightly less antique chips! After many years supporting this place we will have to review our loyalty.

Battered cod fish is really good.

Friendly service and always hot , the cod is good and the sausages in batter are really good. The chips are good but sometimes you get a few to many crunchy bits. But overall a good chippy. There OAP and kid meals are superb value for money.

We live in Seaford, and have done for many years.We love our occasional "fish and chips", and have tried Osbourne's before, but were a bit disappointed, so went elsewhere.However, The last four times we have had our treat, have have been really good.The Haddock is fresh, and well cooked, flakey and moist, just how it should be!Keep it up please !!!Well done, will be back. !

I have been getting take away fish and chips from here for thirty years now and it’s always delicious. The fish is cooked to perfection with lovely crispy soft batter and the chips are delicious and good portion sizes too. There are a wide range of things to choose from, there is also sausages, pies, southern fried chicken and loads of sides and drinks to choose from. I really recommend it.
