A first visit by Casta and Madge. I think I have been before. A CAMRA Good Beer Guide regular. Up to 8 real ales, six on my visit. Had the awful Kent brewery Pale.( Kent being toxic to a Sussex born Prince like me!) Actually very good. The front room was busy, the rear pool room quiet. Apparently been a pub from at leadt 1744.

Always love the Brewers Arms, traditional English pub, good selection of real ales and ciders and great food. Steak Pie, first class, fish & chips very good, washed down with Harveys, Orkney Stout, Thistly Cross Cider and Biddenden Cider. Bread & Butter Pudding needs a little longer to re-heat the centre if not probed. Staff lovely.

Visited the Brewers Arms on Friday for dinner. Had the delicious steak and ale pie which was a slice of a larger pie, my favourite! I.e. not a casserole with a lid which you get in many pubs these days. Highly recommended.

Had a good lunch here. Food was fine, reasonable priced and service quick. Unfortunately the experience was marred by the occupants of a nearby table eavesdropping on our conversation. They made some fatuous comments and moved to other seating. Eventually they left, but not before one of their number came over and unleashed a torrent of abuse related to our private conversation. The same individual mouthed further abuse through the window at us before departing. And there was I thinking it was a free country with free speech. JD Vance, how right you are ! We won't be going back there again.

We’ve just returned from a fantastic Sunday roast lunch at The Brewers Arms in Lewes to celebrate my wife’s birthday. A proper old school boozer done really well. Staff couldn’t have done enough for us and the tween age kids were made to feel welcome. The lunch was all great and a roast at £12 is fantastic value. We’ll certainly be back for more food, more sampling of the fantastic range of beers and more pub games. Thank you for making our day!

By far and away, and without a shadow of a doubt the WORST pub food I’ve had for many years! I ordered a lasagna, it was a tiny slice, dry as a bone, and molten hot as I suspect it was a left over from the day before that had been microwaved to blistering heat. Disappointing is a generous understatement! I will now have to go to the chippy across the road as I’m nowhere near full. It is worth noting that I payed £16 for the disgusting lasagna and a mediocre drink. A rip off! Could not recommend less! There are so many wonderful pubs in Lewes, so many better options. Don’t waste your money!

Chilli and rice home made, roast of pork and chicken was amazing. No need to book a table even on Sundays, serving food until 8pm. The current licensees at The Brewers are just about to celebrate 30 years in charge. When discussing this with a friend of mine recently he commented “well it has to be the best family-run Free House in the country doesn’t it?” My friend is a knowledgeable, well-travelled frequenter of UK pubs (which I like to think applies equally to me) who is not prone to hyperbole, but at the time I did think this sounded a bit OTT. However, the more I think about it, the more I think he may well be right. The range and quality of real ales and ciders is consistently superb (long-term Good Beer Guide entrant) and the new wave of craft beers (draught and canned) has been fully embraced. The food is the best value in Lewes, there’s two separate - and distinctly different - bars, one with a pool table, dart board and juke box, the other bar a fair bit quieter… An annual Beer Festival and a quiz most Bank Holiday weekends add something different and special. But most special of all are the people at the helm. Kathy and Liam, supported by their team of kitchen and bar staff, work tirelessly to provide an environment that is consistently warm and welcoming. You are made to feel part of the Brewers family, and that is a great honour. Happy 30th, Brewers.

Friendly welcome by the landlady and then..... We booked a Table for lunch, we were shown to a window seated table and then waited...and waited....and waited Eventually our food order was tken followed by our drinks.. Some twenty minutes later drinks arrived.. The pints of beer were half pints. We beckoned the waitrss pointing out the error. After some time two further half pi to arrived. Now to food. Order taken, a considerable wait but three of us had fish and chips and one welsh rarebit. The welsh rarebit wS simply cheese on toast. Our fish despite being caught and delivered from local fishermen that morning g turned out to be tasteless. However being hungry most of the food was eaten. We called for Bill and found we had been charged for a Guiness. The bill was corrected, paid and we left.Vowing never to return
