West Porthmeor in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

Lovely location and great service but the food was a little on the average side. This year’s theme was pizza and Greek. I opted for the chicken and the lamb and beef souvlaki. Both were tasted but came drenched in a Greek dressing, which was cold and made the souvlaki cold. The tzatziki was tasty and salad fresh. My husband’s pizza was good but not spectacular. We were there on one of their last days of service, but everyone was still as attentive as ever. Wish them well for next year.

Real Greek food. Getting Greek food isn’t easy in Cornwall. There are only 3 places in the county (I believe). This is a Gem. Family of 4 ate for £58 (that included two beers and two soft drinks). The mixed platter was amazing especially the gyros meat. We’ll be back.

Went to Porthmeor Beach Cafe for lunch a couple times, have been before. Excellent food and friendly helpful staff. They are dog friendly, so can take dog on to the terrace with lovely seaviews. Their pods are nice for 4-6 people with heater and blankets if needed but dogs not allowed in these. Highly recommend but would advise to book in advance if you can, as they get very busy.

Wonderful food and great service, never fails to deliver. The Greek food is first class. This lady needs her owns restaurant in the town. Everything is homemade. Worth every penny

The prawn pizza is without a doubt the tastiest I’ve ever eaten it is just perfection! The staff are really nice and the view is fabulous

We were recommended to come here by family and friends, as we love Porthmeor cafe, but very disappointing attitude of one member of staff ruined the experience. Food was okay, nothing special, and overpriced for the ingredients used.

We are down on holiday and tried the Souvalki and Kebab plates...very nice indeed. Nice portion size, tasty and fresh. The Greek salad was also nice. Definitely coming again. Staff were friendly and efficient as well.

Absolutely great spot for drinks after spending time on a beautiful beach. Friendly service but it was spoilt by maintenance happening as they were drilling to put menu signs up. They should have scheduled it for out of hours when customers weren’t on every table. Didn’t spoil our drinks but shame we were there as it happened

We had pizza here 3 years ago. It was the best pizza I've ever had anywhere in the world. I wish I could find the chef and go and eat where he/she is cooking now. I had pizza over the long weekend. But nothing to write home about. It was ok, not spectacular. The service is great, staff extremely friendly and helpful and vegan options available. Lovely views and location.

So glad this beach cafe has opened since we last came , we had a lovely Greek lunch with a fantastic view of the beach , we will be back

Very disappointed with staff member who served us today (Liz). I asked about recycling and her response was she wasn’t told where to put recyclable material and it’s not up to her where customers put theirs. I think being close to the sea and using recyclable marked containers is laudable but only if implemented properly. The sign showing where to put cardboard and pizza boxes is lamentable - a piece of plywood written in pencil barely legible or noticeable and not even a bin just a shelf. Let’s hope they get their act together for next season. As the attitude was “well we’re closing for the season”. ie we don’t care!

Superb breakfast, perfect location and really friendly staff. The breakfast burrito was amazing, perfectly spicy. We enjoyed one meaty and one veggie, they were delicious. Very reasonably priced for the location.

What a wonderful location right on the beach. Fabulous pizzas with a huge variety of toppings. Lovely chefs who take a pride in their cooking and good quality ingredients.

Such a wonderful location. You're right on the beachside; get it right and you'll be thinking you've landed in the Mediterranean. The sunsets are spectacular here and the vibe is relaxed & laidback. The pizzas are all handmade in front of you, with the bases being made at the end of each evening for service the next day. Result? - beautiful, fluffy, perfectly cooked pizzas with very generous toppings. Prices are very reasonable too, especially considering this is the centre of St Ives. There is a restaurant, cafe and a bar on site so you can move around to your hearts content. Staff are friendly and largely comprise of locals so you get a real feel for the town if you hang out here. My favourite find by a long long way........

Such a cool little spot where we sat and watched the waves on a wet and windy august night. Under cover with the heaters eating delicious food and cuddling up to my new husband was the perfect evening.

I absolutely loved it here. There is 3 floors, 3 different styles. First we sat on the deck at the top in deck chairs, the view was amazing as we were literally on the seafront! Then we had dinner on the tables that basically touched the sand, had a pizza which was absolutely delicious. Very acceptable prices. Queues were to be expected however could be annoying. They offer takeaway as well. Seating for every option.

Been here many times , fantastic location. Highly recommend everything… Drinks and food all good and reasonably priced. This year we walked over the beach with our dogs every day… at least twice. Great for an early morning coffee and breakfast chiabata. Back for a beer in the afternoon or evening and pizza good too.

Wow! What a lovely spot. We got pizza and ate it on the beach while watching the sun go down. It was such a perfect way to spend the evening. We got a mixture of their pizzas and they were all just delicious. Their portion sizes were also bang on. Plus they also can do their pizzas as gluten free (and still taste really good!!!!). The staff serving were all really lovely. We will definitely go back next time we visit Cornwall. 1000% would recommend.

Visited the Fish Bar at West this evening. This is a strange admission as I really, really don’t like fish. Why did I go ? My wife really, really loves fish and anything for an easy life. I have to say the food was sensational. The seafood tacos were delicious, the sweet potato incredible and I adored the mussels ( and I really, really don’t like seafood ). Chocolate and blood orange jelly is to die for . I can’t recommend this enough. The service was excellent and the location stunning. We were both horrified to realise we didn’t have any cash with us to leave a tip so we must apologise profusely for that.

We had several pizzas from here during our week’s holiday and thoroughly enjoyed them all. The jackfruit one was really tasty. Another time we called in for lunch and had the most delicious quiche, salad and chips. Couldn’t fault any of it. It’s just a shame they don’t serve Rattler cider. The service is great and the location couldn’t be more perfect. The only slight gripe is that it’s quite an uphill walk up the steps to use the toilets, which may not suit people with mobility issues.

Was looking forward to a lovely meal but it was disappointing on the whole. Muscles were tasty, the whitebait nice but not great, chips ok but no more. Unfortunately all served on cold plates so went cold very quickly, I appreciate eating in a pod so outdoors but at Porthmeor cafe the food is served hot and stays hot. In comparison it’s worth paying the extra and having a more enjoyable meal. Unfortunately I won’t be back. I also was up during the night for 2 hrs with stomach ache??

West has a great location on Porthmeor Beach. We visited twice during our visit to St Ives, with very different experiences. The first to the downstairs Pizza/Cafe for an evening drink and impromptu dessert pizza. The staff were brilliant, perhaps being from Yorkshire helped?! And the drinks and pizza excellent. This left us very much looking forward to our visit to the new fish bar. Sadly our visit to the fish bar couldn’t have been more different and disappointing. The staff didn’t seem very attentive, getting the drinks order wrong and slow. The team did check on an allergy and work out what was possible, so good there. Sadly the food did not live up to the promise of fresh sea food, the chef took good ingredients and smothered the flavours with overpowering sauces. The Hake was lovely but overpowered by a Smokey fishy oily sauce on everything, the samphire had been over cooked. We were told the pork and prawn curry was in a broth, which was fine. However again the dish was just in a strong oily liquid that destroyed the flavours and the fresh ingredients. The fish bar has massive potential, but in my view it needs to showcase fresh seafood at its best, not over complicated dishes that don’t work.

The service was out of this world, we had a couple of the waiters/waitresses going through our options as there was vegan food and their recommendations were top! We ordered pizza and a starter of flat bread with various seeds and spices and herbs and vegetables and chips. Everything was fresh and the right temperature, we even had a dessert and coffee and local beer on the tap. Amazing views but the food was fresh, delicious and yummy! I wish I could go back and eat there tomorrow, but am too far away. We were treated very well and looked after and the food was top gourmet standard! Can't wait to go back.

View is amazing...seafood was not fresh and rude waitress. You read the menu and you think wow! It came and was very disappointing. Old furry prawns is unforgivable this close to the sea. A real shame as the Porthmeor cafe on the other side is unreal and the staff are amazing

Don’t bother,pizzas are average and over priced ,staff are very patronising, and there is no tangible booking system. Sad really because as it stands the bar/restaurant allows customers to enjoy the beauty of Porthmeor. Not the way to run a profitable and sustainable business.
