I used to look forward to our curry so much but wasn't even edible this time. The chicken was rubbery and foul. I've eaten the chicken tikka masala here for about 8 years but it's been changed. The colour of the curry was much darker and it wasn't creamy. In addition to this the mint dip with poppadoms tasted almost watered down with no flavour at all. Won't order again. A customer lost.

Okay, so really, we were after fish & chips, but at the time of ordering, everywhere was closed. We changed our plans and opted for curry, but both of our usual two curry houses were closed. West Bars Tandoori was open. We ordered 2x curries, 2x naans, rice and a chicken chat, which came to just shy of £30. Unfortunately, we weren't impressed. We've had ALOT of curries from various locations and eateries and we've never been so disappointed. The peshwari naan was bone dry and upon tearing, the entire filling completely crumbled out. The rice had several large clumps of balled up rice in it. The Chat was flavourless and both of our curries (Chicken Methi & Chicken Saag) lacked flavour too. The chicken was very dry and wasn't enjoyable to eat at all. Around half of the food ended up in the bin. After a long day and a hankering for a meal we didn't have to cook ourselves, we were thoroughly disappointed. We'll definitely not be ordering from here again. We would've been better nipping to Tesco for a microwave meal than spending our money here. You live and learn. Waste of money & calories. 2 Stars because it was open when everywhere else was closed & didn't give us food poisoning.

Amazing food and a lovely atmosphere. The menu is more varied than other restaurants and we tried some fabulous dishes that we haven’t come across before. You won’t be disappointed.

3 stars purely because of the prices, the food is very good but £14.80 for a standard curry without rice or any other extras is just way too much, I know were in a cost of living crisis but to almost double the prices is just too much. There is others in chesterfield serving equally good food a lot cheaper.

We ordered chicken curry, aloo paratha and Garlic Naan. chicken curry can still be better. Need to be more authentic as am being an Indian we love bit masala into the curry. Other that that we also had a desert which was very good. Atmosphere was damn good and cosy.

I had the vegetarian menu for 2, which seems to have gone up a lot since last time. There is very little choice for vegetarians, which seems to be less than last time, unfortunately most of the curry’s (korma, balti etc) did not have a vegetarian option. The food was very good and served quickly. Nice choice of Brampton brewery beers.

Top food top service, I've used Westbars for 25 years.

The staff served our 23 team members perfectly, sat us all within reach of each other so we could chat & 'mingle'. Food was excellent, service was second to none, everyone had a great night.

Finally found a great place with food that's really tasty. Customer service excellent and quick great delivery. We had 4-5 dishes and they were all really delicious. Plus dips and poppadoms and salad added in the bag!

They catered for a party on a Friday night. Generous portions, all delicious, arrived hot and on time. Highly recommend.

Amazing place! I’m an Indian guy who’s from London and loves Indian food (of course!) and have never come across a place who has such authentic food that’s the same as my mothers food - wouldn’t say that lightly!

Great service, great value and food tasted fresh and authentic. Can't fault it at all and would go back. Don't be put off if the place looks closed, just try the door.

Called here for the first time on a recommendation from my son. Initial impressions it was very clean and we were greeted straight away and sat at a table. Despite them being very busy with take aways our food arrived very quickly and was excellent. We will definitely call again.

Imagine taking a group of 6 to a restaurant that has your booking in their book and there being no table. Furious....NO apology, nothing complimentary just the offer of waiting in a very small space for a table where people have clearly only just started eating. Unbelievable don't trust you'll have a table!!

I have been using West Bars Tandoori on and off for the last 30 years and have never been disappointed with the food. We decided to order a takeaway from them on New Year's Eve. When we eventually got through to them at 17.41 (they have a weird phone system for a restaurant) we ordered our meal. We were told that it was be 1.45hrs before it would be delivered which we accepted given we knew they would be busy and we wanted our meal delivered. This meant it would have been delivered around 7.30pm. At 07.45pm we decided to try and contact them to see where our order was. It took us 30 minutes to get through to them on two different numbers. We also tried social media to try and contact the. When we did eventually get through to ask where our meal was they stated they would need at least 30 minutes more. This would have took the delivery time to approx 9pm..... We cancelled the order. Really disappointed with the fact they couldn't manage demand on the day. This ruined the evening. Shame as we liked their food but after this we now will never use this Indian Restaurant again.

West bars has always been my go to takeaway Indian - not anymore! Firstly, never order off their website! I thought it would be easier as paying with card. An hour later I called to check the restaurant had received my order & just got a quick “yes we have it” no explanation for the long wait. I asked how long it would be and was told “not long”. An hour later and food still hadn’t arrived so I called back to be told it would be 5 minutes. I wish I hadn’t bothered at all. The food didn’t taste fresh. The paneer tikka was rock solid & the chicken in all of the dishes tasted old and dry with a brown colour when cutting into it. None of the dishes tasted fresh & I would never bother ordering again. Not sure if the ingredients for customers in the restaurant are any fresher but for what appears to be a busy Saturday night - gone off tasting chicken is not good.

Have ordered for over a year from here and food and service has always been excellent, however tonight the order took 2.20 hours to be delivered after two phone calls and they think this is acceptable 🤬won’t use again both personally and with work, terrible customer service

We have been ordering from the fantastic Indian restaurant, for a number of years and we cannot fault it one bit, they deliver on time and with always a smile on their faces.

Ordered a take away and was over charged £3.50 and when delivery came I was asked for an extra £1.50 for delivery as they said I was more than 3 and a half miles away but they have delivered many times to us with no extra charge . I ordered a chicken silsila which I have had many times but I must say the chicken is less and they have bulked the portion out with tomatoes to make the portion the same size . I off course know COVID has affected many businesses but really a busy restaurant /take away that it’s not affected should look after their returning customers . Shame on you !!!!you no longer have our custom along with my family members and friends .

I love the food. Always good.I dont like that they give you a Delivery time and its always about 30 mins to an hr late. Makes my blood boil. You ring up and they say be with you in 10 minutes. 30 minutes later still no food.Why dont they just be honest and tell you an accurate time. Wont be using them again. Last chance tonight and they let us down yet again.

Our first online order tonight, the meal came on time and was absolutely delicious . The delivery man was very friendly, would recommend to anyone and when the restaurant is open again we will be in there . Thank you West Bars Tandoori 😋

Visited for Valentine's Day, restaurant had a pleasant atmosphere and staff were attentive despite being busy.Can not fault the meal everything was lovely and the naan breads were to die for would recommend highly and would honour of our way to visit again in the future.

I ordered a take away which included a chicken Byriani what I got was chicken in a byriani sauce and the vegetable sauce the chicken was meant to be in rice!! And there was not raita sauce with the onion baji I called the restaurant and they said to come back and they would replace it I explained I was not able to so they said they would deal with it at another time I asked if they could not just refund my card at this point they said they would have to call me back in a rather loud and testy manner I said I did not appreciate their attitude and had the phone put down on me obviously customer service is not their strong point won’t be giving them any more business after patronising them for about 15 years

We booked a table for 8pm and were sat down on time. It took a while before somebody took our order and our starter arrived eventually.However we then waited over 40 minutes for our main course. We were then told it would be about 10 minutes. Then we were asked to move tables to make from for a large party.We did move - paid for what we had already had and left.We will not use this place again. The food is good but the waits between courses are not reasonable.It's sad because we've used the restaurant quite a lot but the level of service is just not good enough.

Whenever we are in Chesterfield we always go to this restaurant. The food is excellent and the staff are very friendly, attentive and efficient. Looking forward to our next visit.

Always used these as the food is always the same, not the best but far from the worst and easy to order online. This is the third time in a row it has taken 2 hours plus for delivery (we live less than a mile away) and three times i have rang to be told it is nearly ready. I won't be lied to.Can accept things get busy on saturdays but our last order was midweek. Once wasn't great, twice annoyed me but three times has sent me elsewhere. No next time from me. Oh and this time i got told i should expect an hour and a half, im still waiting 2 hours and 20 minutes so far. And the order is paid for.

This is our favourite curry house in Chesterfield. The menu is varied, the staff are friendly and efficient and the food is great.

Decided to visit the West Bars Tandoori , as we were in the vicinity. I have used its Takeaway Service on several occasions ,so it seemed appropriate to give the Restaurant a try.Very comfortable Restaurant. Pleasant and modern ambiance with prompt and friendly Service. The Menu appeared to be surprisingly restricted compared to the Takeaway Menu. However we ordered some dishes including Fish Jalfrezi , Chicken Begum Bahar and Chicken Tikka Ceylon. Food was well-presented but the taste was not exceptional. Indeed , the Chicken Tikka Ceylon was very dull. We had Rice , Nan Bread and side dishes and the cost was reasonable. However , we all felt that there was something lacking in the overall quality of the Food. We may return , but I am sure that other Restaurants may deliver the goods somewhat better.

Took my dad out for an early Father’s Day (because let’s face it, you’ll struggle to get in anywhere on the day). Straight in, drinks away, food ordered, job done. Only downside is white wine isn’t served by the glass, only red. I can’t drink red but hey ho, more beer will suffice!

Not been here for about a year and this time it was on the spur of the moment. Quick service and a good variety of choice. Food came quickly and was very enjoyable - now back to the diet.

We had a group of 10 for a saturday night celebration dinner. The staff went out of their way to make us welcome and the food was probably best curry I have had in Chesterfield.

Went in on a Saturday night without booking a table and the staff were very accommodating to find us a spot. When we sat down the food and drinks were lovely. Great menu including some interesting dishes. The whole meal was delicious and the staff were friendly and efficient. Would return.

Fabulous dinner as always at West bar tandoori. Flavoursome and very reasonable! Serve cobra beer on draught too! All round great restaurant with attentive service.

Ordered a takeaway to be told it would be 1 hour 20 mins. Thought this was quite a long wait but accepted this. 2 hours later takeaway was still not delivered. After ringing West Bars we were told he was on our road (total lie), after another half hour we rang them again to be told he could not get through on the phone (total lie) and the order had been taken back. No contact from them when driver returned. Only after us phoning them did we know the situation.

This curry house was recommended by a friends, friend. In my opinion it's a very average restaurant. The food was okay, but didn't have the WOW factor, the customer service was okay, the server came across as not very confident and the ambience of the restaurant didn't have the WOW factor either.

We visited on Friday evening for the first time and really enjoyed it. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. We really enjoyed our food and thought it was good value for money.

Having had a couple of days away we returned home and decided rather than collecting a takeaway we would have one delivered. Our usual Indian restaurant doesn't deliver so we decided to try West Bars instead. Easy enough online ordering and as it's a Saturday evening we knew it wouldn't be 10 minutes away. So we waited and waited and waited and waited. After 65 minutes we phoned to find out how long the delivery would be. We were told it is being dealt with now and will be out soon. So we waited and waited. Eventually the delivery arrived..... 105 minutes after ordering. We dived straight only to find some if the order missing and other items added that we did not order. As I vegetarian I didn't want to risk eating the un ordered items. With the remaining items left we sat down to eat only to find out it was not only cold, but also lacking in flavour.... it was average at best. I can honestly say I am very disappointed as the reviews suggested we were in for a treat and all we received was a late, cold and incorrect order coupled with huge distain at selecting this restaurant.We will never select this place again for a meal.

This must be one of the best Indians in Chesterfield. It was so busy and I had to wait a while for my take away but to be fair you know it's going to be worth the wait...it was!Chicken tandoori balti with Bombay potatoes and garlic naan, heaven.

Hands down the best tandoori Indian food we have had in Chesterfield. Felt clean fresh and super tasty with excellent service we will be back and telling all our friends!

This place is a safe bet. It was not amazing but no great disappointment - other than the pike tray that lacked any umph. Service was ok - functional and pleasant - like the food. Not keen on sitting at a table to eat next to the toilet whilst also watched by people sat waiting for takeways, maybe a small screen would help? Nothing wrong but nothing outstanding - a reliable middle standard place for when you want one.

A very good standard of Indian Food that has been consistently maintained over a number of years. Nice Restaurant and an efficient Takeaway Service. Good Menu with tasty dishes. Positive , friendly Service and reasonable prices. A versatile Food Provider that is certainly worth trying. I will be back.

You will never beat the chicken tikka masala. We have been regular customers for well over 20 years and will continue to visit and order take away meals due to the excellent quality, good portion sizes and outstanding friendly service. ordered a take out meal from here as part of a family gathering. Some wanted Chinese food and others wanted Indian food. One advantage is that as there is an Chinese restaurant very close by we were able to liaise the two and everyone was happy. Food was typical takeout quality which was just the thing - it tastes so much better when you are breaking a diet. Despite arranging a pick up time we still had to wait for the food but other than that it was problem free.

This is my all time favourite takeaway, I go here regularly and the standard is always high and delicious. Highly recommend the chicken tikka masala, chicken saag and madras!

Well after trying a few more local Indians I have to confess.......... I have had a couple of good meals at other Indian restaurant/takeaways .....just because you can I guess......but I always return to my favourite haunt.....and I realise why now.....I have never done a review f west bars and really don't know why....because this is always bang on !!!!!!I know sometimes you can't get through on the phone, I know it's generally late....but what it is ....is consistently brilliant....I did do what others do and vote with my feet whilst in a strop of having been kept waiting and having to fetch it when I could have done without.....but that aside it is and always will be my go to Indian in chesterfield.......the staff are always friendly the food is always sublime.....it's a shame they are a victim of their own success with regard to waiting times....but hey ho...you want brilliance you have to wait.......Go to it all Indian lovers....increase my waiting times....they deserve to stay busy!!!!!!!!!!!

first visit to west bars and so glad we gave the restaurant a go.Having read some of the negative reviews.We ordered a selection of starters which were very good and 2 chilli garlic lamb currys with vegatable rice and a garlic naan bread with quite a few beers all for £54 all round very good food at a very reasonable price would definitely recomend this restaurant.

Unfortunately, 2 hours late and still waiting...rang them and was told on the way...still waiting...hopefully it will arrive.. Shane white

My partner and I were visiting Chesterfield for one night and really fancied a ruby Murray. Found West Bars was a 5 minute walk from our hotel. We were really happy with the great service and the food was delicious(pls see photos!) and very reasonably priced too.

Four of us went last night after a recommendation. Wish we hadn't. The restaurant is clean and the staff helpful and friendly but last night was a disaster. Waited got one dish completely wrong and my lamb Jingha was all chicken. The real problem was the fact that the meat was diced and cubed so must have come out of a freezer bag and was bulked up by undercooked onions and green peppers. Appalling. Hadn't been for 4 years and will probably be another 4 before we go again.

Had friends over Saturday before Christmas to catch-up and we ordered takeaway from West Bars.

Visited late yesterday evening, managed to accommodate seven people late on with ease after we were turned away by Zahid, service prompt and friendly food very good quality, it gets better every time we visit. Thank you West Bars.

Food was fantastic, service was wonderful (we came in rather late and they were more than accommodating)! Best mango chutney in town!

Just eaten the best takeaway we have had for a long time! Ordered in the restaurant, only 20 minute wait, despite lots of orders being phoned in and several diners in the restaurant. Staff were delightful. Food was absolutely delicious; ordered Naga which was as hot as promised but without losing flavour, Lamb Chili Shobuj which balanced hot, sour and sweet beautifully and did have loads of chilies if you wanted a blast! Tarka dhal and other accompaniments were also very tasty - and all at very reasonable prices (and 10% off if you collect). Fully recommend West Bars Tandoori and will return soon :)

Very tasty chicken madras and well made fresh plain naan. Fast friendly service. Comfortable roomy restaurant. Sheek kebab had too much salt and food colour for my taste but I use no salt when I cook so eating out is always tricky for seasoning! Their overall rating is dragged down by bad reviews for slow takeaway service.

popped in for a take away this weekend - chaos at one point but only as a large group turned up on the wrong day!! they were settled by staff despite the place being full. No complaints on the food - mine was a bit hot for me but I ordered 'experimentally' so that is all down to me. We did have a long wait - the only complaint.

Had friends over the last Saturday in September for drinks and a take away and we opted to order from west bars tandoori once again. We ordered early and it took 90 minutes to arrive which is understandable on a busy Saturday.

Ordered a takeaway which they managed to get completely wrong only thing they got right were the chips which were dry. Rest of the food we did get was poor.Shame used to be the best Indian in chesterfield. Won't be going back.
