Went out for my sons birthday meal big group of us ordered are food at 7.45 didn't get it till 9.45 took two hours before we got are food really disappointed then when it come half the food was cold

Something has changed... Unfortunately for worse. This was my go to for korma dishes for a long time. It was tasty, deep in flavour, just fingers licking, smooth and flavourful. Tried it twice in the last 3 months, and it is not good anymore! The chicken korma is just bland... No depth to it. Same with butter chicken and the texture of the dish is not the same as well. I am not sure what has changed but please bring back the old recipes!

A bit disappointed. Asked for a basic chicken curry to takeaway, but got home to find something more akin to a madras. Keema-naans not available 😭 Also added a pickle tray to my order... and got one pot of mango chutney. 😕 Front of house is v well presented... But the kitchen seems/must be in chaos. This place used to be fantastic!

We ordered takeaway. Korma along with other dishes, the korma was not a korma very spicy, and not coconut like any other korma I've had from other takeaway places, as such i didn't like it. A naan bread that we paid for was missing, I rang and they apologised and said to give them 10 mins, which I was fine with. 45 mins later still nothing, I called back, and they said the driver was on route and had left 5 mins ago. I called 15 minutes later, and shock they were closed. No driver has turned up, We will be expecting a refund for the naan bread missing from our order. Extremely poor customer service, don't lie if you have zero intention of sending out part of an order you missed in the first place. Order under the name of Scott Taylor.

We love it there. The food is amazing and the service really good. We went in a Monday so it wasn't busy but like having our own special dining experience. Highly recommended.

Had a great curry from here last night, really first class not the cheapest around but by far the best we have had for a long time. Large portions and lot's of well cooked meat. Well done 👍

Never been a lamb rogan josh, inedible, garlic Nan also inedible. Onion bargee & poppadom started were delicious, would never order from here again, disgusting

I have ordered tandoori chicken it was full of colour and can’t even eat. Very poor quality. This is the picture that I got it after washing my hands. Smells horrible with the colour.

Quick mid-week curry with some colleagues and thoroughly enjoyed it! Very quiet (we were the only people in) but it was a Wednesday evening so I can't really hold that against them! Reasonably priced and very tasty food!

Over 1 hour 40 mins of waiting for delivery. Then called them, and still not out been delivered, 2 hours for a takeaway is unacceptable on a normal day . Avoid.......

Not one for reviews but the food was that good I had to do it ! I thought my regular Indian was good but this was out of this world . Food good , staff good , nice place . Give it a try

Had the whole restraunt to ourselves and the food didnt disappoint.the onion bhajees were crispy and yummy. I had prawn tikki with boiled rice(i,m on a diet) and again it didnt disapoint.came out on a sizzling plate and full of flavour. Reasonably priced and friendly staff . Will deffo go again

Takeaway order for our whole family. Complimentary poppadoms and onion chutney very fresh and tasty. Was therefore looking forward to my Chicken Tikka Jalfrezi, Mushroom Pilau and Bombay Aloo. Hoping above all hope that the chef inadvertently knocked the salt over into my curry, because it was disgustingly salty to the point of being almost inedible. I've never before thrown curry away, and I've been eating them for over 35 years, from Pasanda to Phil, I've had them all. But that Jalfrezi was unauthentic, salty and the worst I've experienced to date. Sorry, never like to leave negative reviews but only trying to help them improve.

Rice was nice Peshwari nan bread was burnt and horrible Poppadoms were disgusting all they tasted of is grease they got binned The mango chutney was absolutely disgusting that got binned aswell tried calling 3 times no answer I wouldn't order from here again

Very poor. 4 different dishes all just the same brown reheated stodgy sauce with a little bit of overcooked meat in. Restaurant is empty and dirty. Never again.

Had high hopes this was going to be The Star of Chesterfield but it was mildly disappoining and unfortunately it wasn't even the star of the moor! There was nothing wrong with the food and it was reasonably priced but I had heard many people rave about this place so was expecting something above avarage.

Disappointed, heard good things about the star of sall, new management, staff, chef the lot. Tried a takeaway, ordered 2 onon bhaji, nice and well done but not quite cooked in the middle, only got 1 salad, they did give us 1 poppadom to share, 2 main, 2 people!!!! Ordered veg rice, keema rice, only got veg rice, ordered garlic nan, was a dry, tough, not sure if it was fresh dough that day, abit burnt. Curries, chicken tikka sag masala, very glupy, like its been thicken, alot of coconut bits, not that tasty. Chicken paphia, was ok, tasty. Sorry was looking forward to this, disappointed.

The basic prawn curry was powdery and left a horrible taste in your mouth ,I couldn't eat it ,my husband had lamb bhuna and it was all sauce ,never again

After waiting for two hours I sent a message which was ignored. We rang 2 hours after ordering and were told "it's just left, it will be 5 minutes". Immediately after the phone was put down the order was cancelled. When the missus rang up the reply was "well we are busy". Asreholes. No way to treat customers. Won't be using again and will be telling others to do the same.

Tried last night meal was lovely and Greg’s service was fabulous. He was great at keeping everything going and checking everything was ok for us

I thought I’d have a takeaway to take to work with me on a night shift. Wrong choice I ordered a Saag Panneer and Lamb Tikka. The Tikka if you like salt you would be fine it was well over salted couldn’t eat it and one of the lads that will eat anything didn’t eat it. The Saag Panner cheese wasn’t even cooked and tasted off like a mature cheddar. I have Saag Panner all the time and even make at home and this batch was off. What a shame more than 3/4 of the food went in the bin. Never again.

Absolutely disgusted. Ordered at 6pm through Uber eats. then at 7:30 the order got cancelled. Rang the restaurant who then told me they don’t do Uber eats! Well don’t advertise then! Told to take it up with them and then put the phone down on me. Very rude

We had 3 lovely curries from here today plus rice, naan and chips Both chicken curries and the lamb curries were so delicious I loved them, well done to the chef. Brilliant hot delicious food. The plain naan and keema naan were also really nice, enjoyed every bite and the chips well I have to say probably the best I've had for a long time. Thank you so much Will definitely be ordering again

Had a 40 minute wait for the food, ordered the mixed kebab which should have included onion bahjee, kebab and samosa, no samosa was given fish in batter instead, the onion bahjee was burnt to a crisp, and the kebab was over done and dry. The curry had flavour but was Luke warm and the cheese naan bread bland, supermarket versions are better! For £26.55 for 2 curries, 2 naan breads, 1 rice and burnt starter which didn’t include what stated on the menu I was extremely disappointed.

Waited an hour for this. Curry full of oil, burnt naan bread and poppadoms broken into tiny pieces. Food was also cold and pilau rice was like nothing I’ve ever seen before.

Absolutely loved this place the waiter was very polite and chatty to say it was only me and my misses in the restaurant. Food was absolutely fantastic and the prices are fair. Couldn't understand why nobody else was in on a Friday night but we will most certainly be returning.

There is nothing like a good curry.Unfortunately this was nothing like a good curry.The staff were polite and efficient but the dish was unauthentic and bland.If they could get a competent Chef they may do well.I shan't go back until things improve

Ordered here tonight 8th July 2020 and oh lord never have I had chicken tikka that smells like cheese sauce it is the worsed curry ever in my life all I can say what a waste of money rang and they bought another but was the same wouldn't even rate this 1 star

Lovely takeaway, food arrived faster than expected. Great value as well for 2 curries and 2 boiled rice, naan and a poppadom. Would recommend to anyone looking for an Indian takeaway.

Customer service is phenomenal. Was greeted at the door and taken to our seats, drinks order was taken and received within a minute and brought us an amazing popadom platter and then we helped ourselves to the buffet, everything was hot and tasted even better than I looked and the chicken tikka was to die for. I would recommend going here to anyone. They’ve got a regular customer in me.

Ordered a delivery at 7.30 today and they said would be an hour, I'm still sat here waiting at 9pm, rung up 4 different times and they've fobbed me off, dont buy from these guys, rubbish service, could hav nipped down road quicker, they rung me back to say they cant find my address, what a joke..keep away from here, not even 1 star

Arrived on time and with good humour. What I love most about Star of Sall is their use of spices. The vindaloo(meat) contained wonderfully succulent chunks of lamb which virtually disolved upon contact! The combination of FRESH chillis with cumin and ginger is awesome. The bombay aloo was prepared with just enough aesofetada to give a slight sweetness whilst still maintaining depth and honesty. Thank you Star of Sall, for your food and your devotion to creating happiness.

Quiet evening service chaotic a member of the party fell I'll later.

This is our third visit to this restaurant. The first visit was excellent for both food and service. The second visit was excellent for the food but was let down by the service.This was because the waitress in question had too much to do. Our third visit was the worst. Once again the food was good but the service this time I'm sorry to say was pretty bad. The reason, the waitress was on her own and she had a lot of diners to deal with plus attending to "Takeaways" and people paying their bills. Our starters arrived on one plate, should have been on two individual plates. Got apology but not acceptable. We never had a dessert or another drink as she never returned to our table although she was at the counter all the time, she never once looked over at us so we left. I did inform her we were unhappy. When busy this restaurant needs more waiters. Needless to say we won't be going back as our evening out was spoilt completely. Excellent food let down by the service.

Ordered from here on a whim. Food arrived on time but tepid, some cold and was poor quality. Certain that tinned mushrooms were used in the dishes, you all know the taste and texture of them. Instead of chicken tikka arriving in chunks having been skewered and cooked in a tandoor I was met with two whole chicken breasts, no flavour or taste whatsoever.Thankfully I ordered through just eat and have received a refund from them as when I called the restaurant they found it highly amusing and the lad on the phone said to his colleagues (without muting the call) "we've got a complaint boysss!" (cue laughter in the background). Was told I'd receive a call back, wasn't hopeful and have been proved right, still waiting to hear from them.Atrocious way of dealing with a customer.

Lovely food and excellent service, all you can eat buffet on a Monday which is excellent value. It's the only place we go in and around Chesterfield for an Indian. Edit: Just been back for the first time in a while and was disappointed. They appear to be doing some alterations/ flooring works at present as half of the restaurant was closed yet all the tools, rubble, etc was left lying around! Food wasn't its usual quality and most of the meat was very dry. Probably leave it a while before returning.

Had a takeaway on a Friday. Hot, tasty and delicious. We ordered a mixed starter which included fish. We order chips, jalfrezi and rice. Hot a free pickle tray and it was just lovely. Arrived on time too. Will order again

Ok so we eat alot of curry! This place had a little lapse anout 2 years ago. It is now back to high standards. My son refuses to eat korma from anywhere else. The tikka mix grill, butter chicken and makhan chicken are the best!!

Ordered a fairly extensive Takeaway from this Restaurant recently. Fairly prompt delivery , but disappointed to find a dish missing. This was rectified with an apology after contacting the Restaurant. Missing dish duly delivered. Ordered a Seekh Kebab Starter. Absolutely dreadful. Probably the worst that I have had anywhere. Not made from freshly minced Lamb , but seemed pre-made and synthetic. Papadoms were good however with nice Onion Salad.Main dishes of Chicken Tikka Jalfrezi and Chicken Begum Bahar tasted reasonably good but were a bit oily and off-putting. Vegetable dishes were alright. Vegetable Madras was good. Tarka Dall was nothing special. Vegetable Rice was not too good , as it seemed to have an addition of Curry Powder and it therefore did not have a Professional Restaurant taste. Keema Nan was of generous size , but it was rather thick and heavy and lacked flavour.Possibly it is a better experience to eat in the Restaurant. However , I can only judge the overall Food quality as being varied and not exceptional. Consequently , I will not be hurrying back to place a further order.

(Takeaway) Worst onion Bahjis I have ever had. Will never order again. They had been packed with that much onion it was almost solid and I could not cut through it. I have Indian meals on a regular basis and the one thing most Indian restaurants get right is this but these where awful. Go to Dheli 41 much much better

Had the place to ourselves on a Thursday night. Popped in as we were staying nearby and passing through Chesterfield. Friendly waitress, nice to arrive to poppadums and dips. Food was prompt and flavoursome. Plenty of it too. All round, okay. Not much wow factor in the food but a pleasant enough way to pass an evening. Genuine interest from the waitress who was keen that we enjoyed our meal.

Called in for a quick bite on a Saturday night 4 of us bit quiet but served straight away lovely pickle tray and poppadoms butter chicken to die for wife had garlic chilli chicken perfect rice spot on will definitely be back again thanks

Ordered Chicken Vindaloo (not on the menu - it seems to cater mainly for a less spicy palette) which was pretty good. The sauce was a bit stodgy, and the garlic cheese naan was a bit heavy, but a decent meal, and very reasonably priced. Very nice staff, though.

I come here quite often with the family and we are never disappointed. The food is so flavourful it’s amazing. We take some home so we can continue the meal later on after stuffing our selves silly. ;)

A very nice contemporary interior. Friendly and helpful staff. A large menu to choose from. We really enjoyed our meal. Both dishes were cooked to perfection. We will definitely be going back. I will be recommending the The Star of Sall to family and friends.

We went there after reading the reviews but were disappointed. We have on average 3 currys per week and feel we know a good curry.

Pleasantly surprised with this place. On the meerkat meals and still loads of meat in the main courses. Clean restaurant with caring staff that don't stand over you as you eat. Definitely recommend

Just been out for a meal with friends had to wait over an hour before food came to table the food was tepid and not very tasty with an alarming use of food colouring. This is the worst Indian restaurant I have ever been too please don’t waste your time and money on a visit. Also lack of water in ladies toilets had to wash hands in disabled one really poor .

Called in Saturday as we were visiting Chesterfield and even though we were early and it was not officially open we were seated immediately. The starters of samosas were really tasty and with a nice kick of spice much better than the usual triangle hard pastry ones you get served in a lot of places! We all enjoyed our main meals and we all had different The service was excellant will def be back

Too bright and no intimacy, food bland as the previous reviews state stay away from the Korma. Onion Baja's looked like they had been pumped full of orange colorant.

This Indian restaurant is huge and if it is a quiet night, as it was when we went, it can seem lacking in atmosphere. The service was good but the food was average.

My husband and I had dinner here with friends.

Just had a take out and everything was cooked to perfection. The rice was light and fluffy and the cuts of meat in both mine and my wife's meals were top quality. One meal was adapted to taste ie madras hot and was absolutely superb. Thank You star of Sall you never fail to satisfy. Top Tucker

Much improved over recent months and is almost as good as it was 2 years ago. Friendly staff and excellent food.

Another visit and another satified customer. The food quality is exceptional. I really like eating here and would recommend the Tandoori mixed grill.

I went with a friend on a Tuesday night and although it was quiet the standard of service was impeccable and the food was delicious, we ordered far too much but enjoyed everything we had, the flavours were amazing and it was so fresh. Highly recommend
