Indian Blues in Chesterfield

When ever we visit Chesterfield we try to pop in for dinner & once again had a lovely meal 😀

Just had another take away from your amazing restaurant the prawn starter was out of this world, will certainly have again. You never fail with quality, quantity and amazing service. I was sad to hear from Raj the owner that due to personal circumstances he had to be away from the business more than he wanted , earlier this year but was in the more than capable hands of his son . One day whilst Raj was away. His son had to have a day off. This particular day they were visited by environmental health . Raj and his son have access to the paper work. Because of this the very nasty jobs worth of an inspector down graded him very harshly, she could have said let me have the paperwork tomorrow but no she wanted to get a star. Very rude person. I urge everyone to write reviews of their experiences please. To help a man who has traded in Chesterfield for the past 28 years. I went with my wife - the food was amazing and the service was 5*. The manager was so kind, he even offered us free naan and a extra lassi- I was pleasantly surprised. Very generous and accommodating of our choice.i definitely recommend this restaurant.

Ollie/Olly the gentleman who looked after us was polite and friendly plus he was doing it all by himself. Thank you for looking after us. The food was amazing. The Butter chicken was one of the best I've had and hubby had the Tamil Chicken which he said was fresh and tasty but couldn't leave without finishing every bit of chicken. The whole meal was perfect and fresh. I recommend you try this place. It's not expensive either. Worth every penny.

Chicken vindaloo. Chicken balti, 2 portions of lemon rice, bhajis, tikka starter and chapatis. All of it absolutely lovely. We'll be back next weekend to pick another one up. You promised gluten free and you gave us gluten free apart from the chapatis which were mine. My wife Says it's great for coeliacs.

The staff are a bit shy but it’s kinda nice as it’s a very chilled experience the owner takes time to come over and thank you for your custom The food! The food is a ten Best lamb very tender big chunks of lamb Best madras All items lovely - rices bread and bhajis I’ve been a few times as it’s superb quality imho and I am a very good cook myself and Indian is my favourite cuisine so I’ve plenty of experience and this is top quality Cheese rice is unreal comes in a big bowl enough for three people! Wow... this place is amazing. Its only a small place but definitely makes a big impact, so much so that we ate here two nights on the run. The lamb tamil was delicious as is the Indian blue special.The chef made us a really lovely king prawn Afghani dish 🤤. We will most definitely be eating here again when we travel to Chesterfield.

Lovely restaurant, flavoursome food and reasonably priced too. Much better than Ashitka further up the road.

Jalfrezi was very good, as was rice and onion bhaji, but blues special... not that special actually, good portion size and meat lovely and tender but if you're going to call a dish special, it needs to pack a punch and live in the memory...... But actually it was just ok. Staff very good, and meal was pleasing on the pocket.

Great food and service, bottled beer not cold enough so go for draught much better. Nice large portions definitely worth a visit.

Lovely food served here. Good service as well. Prices seemed reasonable as well. They don't have a Disabled toilet but I was able to mobilse into the toilet using my crutches. But if you can't get out of your wheelchair then you might have trouble using the toilet. But don't let that put you off as I was well looked after.

It was the first time visiting here, my Son has been raving about it for months. Definitely going again. Great atmosphere, and the staff were lovely. The FOOD... Excellent. Absolutely delicious, and plenty of it. Value for money. I can not say there was one fault. There wasn't one

YOU NEED TO READ BEFORE GOING OR ORDERING FROM THIS RESTAURANT! ALLERGIES-Serious thing right NOT HERE ITS NOT. Explained on ordering my serious nut allergy(TO THE MANAGER), he explained no nuts used on the restaurant at all! So proceeded to order, I collected and again asked had they made sure it was nut free. I got blanked but I thought well the MANAGER took my order so I’m sure it will be ok… Only the get the order home to see cashew nuts in the dish!!!!! This could have put me in hospital or worse! If the manager and menu don’t know what’s in the dishes what’s the point! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!

Tasteless bland "pretend " indian food. So disappointed.

We have had many takeaways from the Indian Blues, but our latest was poor. The sauces were very runny and the prawns in two of the dishes were tiny and extremely rubbery. I can only imagine they had been prepared, frozen and then thawed.

Probably my favourite Indian restaurant in Chesterfield and the one I dine in the most at. Consistently great food even when ordered for take out. I particularly enjoy the Blue Dragon, a spicy dish with a twist. Friendly helpful staff always happy to accommodate.

We really enjoyed our visit with friends. Plenty of choice and delicious food. Will definitely return. Service was good and very reasonable prices.

Fresh food, cooked to order very quickly. Staff are very polite and knowledgeable of the menu. The owner is so lovely! Service is very quick but I prefer that, I’m sure if you were to advise that you prefer a laid back drawn out meal they would be happy to oblige

food was ok. i had the lamb tika masala it was tasteless and very chewy. i couldnt chew it down i had to swallow chunks of meat whole. i found the staff very rude including the owner. i dont think they can handle big parties if people. when serving the food thee servers was just dumping it on the table anywhere and not listening to who was having what.

Indian Blues had always been a favourite but despite a last minute, late on Sunday night visit the food was still fantastic. Only 4 stars for the atmosphere because we were practically alone but the staff were still as helpful and professional as ever.

Meal was lovely. Asked for 2 house white wine at £3.65 cheeky got me 2 chenin at £4.95 was very rushed at 10.30 as everyone had gone so we said what time do you close. The bar lady said once everyone has gone and I'm late tonight. I've been in there at midnight before. A shame as let the night down as havnt been out in a year and picked these for our treat night. Alot was complaining . So for us we won't be returning. As customer service wasn't the best

Really disappointed, ordered a pickup takeaway tonight and the madras had no spice or heat to it what so ever, the lamb passanda was tough and chewy and the garlic nan was small and tasteless. Only good thing was the onion bahjis they were delicious.

Excellent meal again..never fails to be spot on..

Food used to 5* here, unfortunately the last few times including tonight has been very bland to say the least and far too much oil to the point where I didn't eat the meal. As I said above, the food used to be 5 star hence why I keep giving it another go but 3 let downs is enough. Unfortunately we won't be coming back, such a shame as the food used to be consistently lovely.

Wasnt the best indian restaurant ive been to. Table was direct to the main door so my dining partner was often catching a chill. No music was played in the restaurant to offer ambience. My food was "ok" and her masala came very watered down. Staff seemed unhappy which was obvious. Unfortunately we wont be dining here again.

Worst Indian food I have ever had. We spent over £100 on take away food for a family get together and most of it went straight in the bin. It was sloppy, tasteless and unappetising. Even the rice was awful it must take a special talent to ruin rice! Our family who live in Chesterfield who recommended it were disappointed and said they would not be going back.

Brilliant takeaway we had from this restaurant last night. We had been to a Mansfield town football match and seen that fans rate it. Telephoned order through, ready in 35mins on a busy Saturday night. Garlic chicken delicious, onion bhajees big and golden. Prices extremely good value. Would like to return to eat in next time. Looked busy on collecting.

We were stranded in Chesterfield due to all trains being cancelled due to Storm Babet so needed somewhere to eat. We looked at other eateries in the area and opted for Indian Blues and am I glad we did. It was fabulous. It was cooked well, full of flavour, plentiful and a reasonable price. The only downside was the starter came with what looked like prepacked salad that had started to liquify around the edges of the lettuce. Not very appealing so I gave that a miss. Try the Chicken Chat starter, Mango Chilli Chicken and Cheese nan - you won't be disappointed.

Food was amazing, chicken was so tender and nicely spiced . Only one thing to improve, the bottled beer was warm. Hopefully nice and cold next time. Other than that, very good. See you soon.

The Tandoori Fish last night, was a huge salmon fillet cooked to perfection, with tandoori spices on a sizzling skillet, served with a salad. Really delicious and a healthier option...would definitely have it again.

Lovly people Lovely food well worth a visit

Was in town for the Football and asked numerous Chesterfield fans as to the best Indian restaurant in town and this was the most popular one amongst their answers. Absolutely spot on in their assessment. Four of us visited and had a good range of curries and sides plus a special of the decent menu. Very friendly and knowledgeable waiter who was very attentive.

The food is as good as it gets in terms of authentic Asian dishes The flavour the taste is so good here that I had to write a review on this place. Not only is the food so fresh and tastes so good but the price was really good. The portions were great and like I mentioned for the price it was a great meal. I have been back again for my last meal before I head back to London. This place is a must if you like your curries to be authentic and trust me I have eaten all over the uk and this place is a hidden gem so give it a visit if your in Chesterfield or visiting as this place does not disappoint and the staff are lovely.

Had an absolutely fantastic meal here last night. From the moment we walked in we was looked after by brilliant staff, nothing was too much trouble. Inside is really nice relaxed atmosphere. The food was by far the best indian cuisine i've ever had. Wonderful flavours and plenty of it. Chiken tikka jalfrezi was delicious. Can't recommend enough !!! It does not get any better.

Well, this place just keeps coming up trump! Very tasty meal, not one I have had before but it certainly hit the mark. The place is tidy, clean and efficient.

Very chilled atmosphere, staff very attentive but certainly not rushing you or overly keen, this was our second visit this year and agree this is one of the best, if not the best Indian restaurant in Chesterfield, highly recommended.

Recommend: Worst recommendation. Visiting area for business and seriously my last visit. Customer service: Three English girls serving the most shocking customer service I’ve experienced. They were more bothered about using their mobile phones behind the bar and serving themselves drinks. (Took photos) . Atmosphere: 0 So sorry I had to leave this review but my experience was shocking.

Great food and the atmosphere was fantastic. The waitress that served us made the night even more memorable. The restaurant accommodated our little requests without any quibble, which helped us celebrate a special friend’s 65th birthday. Looking forward to going back soon.

Food was nice but not much to talk about. Service slow.made us feel they want us to go. Keep wanting to take food away hadn't finished eating. So going have dessert and drinks but came with bill .it was only 9.30pm

AMAZIN is all I can say. Been coming here for 25 year. Raj the owner is what we call a friend. You cannot get a better meal anywhere in this country. This is exceptional food. Credit to Raj and his staff. Keep up the good food 🙏❤️

Well another very tasty, hot meal. The flavour in my special lamb dish were incredible, the meat was soo deliciously tender. Came quickly after being ordered and with great service. My friends dish, was also very spicy and hot.

Only customers in the place to start with at around 8 mid week. Food rather average, lacking some of the finesse which you might hope for. Beer is expensive ~£4 for a small bottle, almost no choice and 1664 on tap....👎 Got the food order confused and fixed it almost too fast. Peshawari naan only had coconut.... On the positive portion sizes were good.

Had a mix of starters and a chicken dish and lamb dish to try out between the two of us. Bhajis very good recommend. Meat very tender rice tasty naan breads very small and below average. Lovely meal just lacking atmosphere or attentive service -don’t like to be pestered but like to feel they might recognise us if we went back not a chance showed no interest in customers.

Very Disappointing, the onion bhaji’s were dripping in oil, the garlic naan bread was was very thin & dry, the lamb jalfezi was tasty, what bit of lamb I found in it, about 5 bits was very tender, but the onions had been obviously separated into individual rings & just cut into bits,which were very tough. I love onions but couldn’t eat them. Spoiled the whole curry for me. + only selling bottled larger, which I don’t drink, at massively inflated prices finished it for me !! A few years ago it was the best curry place in town. Not anymore !!!! Will not be calling again anytime soon.

I popped in here with a friend, it's always been a good Indian restaurant and this meal was no exception. Tasty, filling and I didn't leave a morsel which is unusual for me as Indian food can normally be a little heavy this wasn't. Staff and service excellent, even cooking a dish not on the menu.

Takeaway Absolutely unreal curry rice and garlic Nan. You have to try the AD special tikka curry It’s chicken tikka pathia with green chillies and boiled egg. Topped with a garlic Nan you won’t go wrong. Best ever!! Don’t thank me people

Wanted a taste of the old Indian Raj. This place did not disappoint, reminds me of my time with the Calcutta light horse, an excellent place to eat after the final chukka. Bravo!

We've always loved this restaurant but last night was disappointing in more ways than one 😕 The 'menu' is now one side of flimsy card....I even joked to my hubby that he'd booked us in for an early bird special. What we ordered was still delicious and the same quality ( cheese rice amazing) but the special naan bread was tiny, more like a fatbread and at £3.50 just really disappointing. On chatting to the owner he explained that in the current financial climate he has had to shave down the menu considerably to be able to stay open. That's completely understandable but there were 4 'waitresses' just sat around the bar chatting the whole time we were there, in fact one of them never even moved once off her stool ....seemed such a waste paying them all to do nothing whilst the food prices have risen 😥 We did ask the owner if he could do us a favourite dish ( not listed on the new menu ) to takeaway and he happily agreed saying they can still do any of the original menu dishes upon request. The takeout was ready for when we left and according to my son was just as delicious as ever though 🙂

Good atmosphere and service. Food left a bit to be desired. Rice was OK, Peshwari Naan contained no fruit at all and very thin, not a traditional Peshwari at all. We both ordered the Mango Chilli Chicken. Enough chicken, loads of onion, chillies and tomatoes...

Gone to a silly bit of paper with a very limited choice on there. No doubt prices are shooting up. That will be a big no from me! Especially the dishes at ten pounds or over. Unless a bland chicken curry! Is under. Some of the service is lacking experience and a look of professionalism. Sloched at the bar or arguing over what days need covering. Definitely don't ask them what curry is nice, you get a shrug at the shoulders. Phone when ordering is never answered or busy, simple get two phones. Shame, us to love this place but it's dying off in a way expecting you to pay with big price's and bad service. Sorry but am in no financial way or to be in a playground after a hard week at work.

Tasteless. Literally every thing that went in my mouth was tasteless. The curry you can see in the picture was a lamb Ceylon and you can see how much water is sat there. It was hot with zero taste. I actually spat the onion bhaji out it was so greasy and tasteless. Visiting family so I hadn’t eaten here before. I make my own British Indian restaurant style curries and this place is the reason I don’t eat curries from restaurants very often. Could make a better curry with my eyes closed.

We had a takeaway from here for my birthday. We picked it up early on a Monday evening, restaurant was very clean and smelt good. I had a Veg Jalfrezi which was really tasty, full of fresh vegetables with just the right heat level. My son had Butter Chicken and he says it's the best he's ever had. Perfect, thank you Indian Blues.

Clean,comfortable Indian restaurant serving excellent food. Service was spot on. Extensive menu . Definitely recommend the special biriani with omelette on top. Delicious.

Used this place for around 15 year. My latest experience is my last. Firstly missed all pickle tray, but charged me. Had to run back in, still didn't get any salad although had 3 starter. Got home plated up start eating, then in a poppadoms have a black hair cooked into it. Then comes the chicken tikka massala. Think photo shows watered down!! Rang and complained got called a liar so pics are now on way to health and hygiene. Worst experience ever!

As usual, excellent food. Staff friendly and very helpful. Excellent range on offer would recommend a Dhinajpuri, warm and fruity !
