Popped in during a bike ride, we sat in the court yard, a very stressed and rude lady told us the court yard was closed, offered us nowhere else to sit and we showed very poor customer service.

I would say this was the best cafe/restaurant meal I have had in Harborough. Absolutely delicious! The photo below does not do it justice. Super friendly staff and I am looking forward to trying out the wine and deli night.

First visit tonight for the cheese and wine evening and we had such a lovely time. A really warm welcome with lots of deli items to try, presentation just beautiful and it was such a relaxing way to spend an evening. Huge range of wines, meats and cheeses and staff really helpful with choosing and steering us from all the choice. Will definitely return. Thanks again it exceeded expectations.

I took my Son and daugter in law to this lovely quintessential village store for a spot of lunch, we had a wonderful meal that was adapted for them as they are vegan, they both enjoyed it tremendously, as did I, with my non vegan meal. The staff were all extremely friendly and couldn't do enough for us. We also found the shop very well stocked and got a few bits to take home. Thank you Welton's.

What a lovely addition to Market Harborough's dining out choices. I had a lovely evening with friends. Delicious deli board of mixed cheeses & meats. It was great to be able to choose the cheese from the large display. Good wine choices too. Highly recommended, however booking is essential.

What a lovely surprise! This village Post Office is now also a fabulous deli and cafe, very welcoming, great ambiance and friendly team. But the food……..oh my gosh- I just had the most fabulous “Chilli, Jammy Eggs” the best thing I’ve tasted in a long time!! This is a destination Post Office!! I have already booked to eat here again soon with friends (I have told many of my friends about this already 😊). You have to try this - although it’s a small cafe and part of me wants to keep it my secret so I can always get a table!!

Went for the Friday wine and cheese evening- love that you get to pick your own cheeses. Each board is beautifully presented with a plethora of charcuterie, olives, nuts, fruit (love the fresh figs), crackers with a side plate of warm bread and butter. Then you choose your own bottle of wine from the large selection in store. A selection is also available by the glass. Highly recommend for a night out with friends, family or that special someone.

We booked the Friday night, Wine and Deli night. There were only 6 tables so if you to experience this event, call them and book it. You can not just turn up on the night. We were greeted by a gentleman who was polite and professional. He showed us to our table and gave us the food menu and the wine menu. He took time to explain how the choices work and recommended wines to go with the platters. You can choose cheese, meat or a mixture of the two. We choose the mixed. We then got taken to the cheese counter where we could choose the cheeses we wanted. When the board arrived it was loaded with our chosen cheeses and a large selection of cold meats. There was also a selection of crackers and bread sticks as well as the most amazing pickled vegetables. You also get huge chunks of bread on the side. The food was amazing, the service was impeccable and we even got a tub of the pickled veg to take home ( it was so good, I had to.ask for some more) Deli board for 2, 3 large glasses of wine, a lemonade and an espresso and the bill was under £60. Now, stop reading this, pick up the phone and book a table. You will not regret it.

Absolutely love this deli - the new Manager Nate has done an incredible job on the menus and also the layout of the store. Breakfast was a great take on the “traditional English” with quality and the unique homemade baked beans. Fabulous products on the store especially the locally grown flowers by Nicky from the Tiny Flower Patch. Highly recommended

I know prices of everything has risen , but £12ish for a small breakfast is ridiculous, ordered a full breakfast with a tea when it arrived I thought they had mistakenly took my order for a child’s breakfast absolutely disgusting for a village cafe to charge exorbitant prices for poor quality food which came out cold and some of it was inedible looks like we will be giving this establishment the wide birth and visiting there competitors across the road in future

Well since this last covid part lockdown myself & a friend or 2 have started walking twixt Market Harborough & the lovely Great Bowden. We started having a takeaway coffee each time & I must say it is without a doubt the best coffee around ( I take mine black so I should know ) we have been very lucky with the weather & usually sit on one of the benches on the green. We all (sad I know) love that the toilets are actually open here, unlike other local takeaways & always spotlessly clean. Being ladies of a certain age we like to use the facilities before moving on for our walk back, so a big thank you for enabling us to have a comfortable walk home!!! Covid seems to be a good excuse to close the toilets everywhere & I don’t get why!! Must also mention the staff are lovely & the shop sells a wide variety of goods for a small village shop, post office & cafe with lots of lovely gifts & festive items. Would say defo visit if your in the area & a lovely walk from Harborough.

Our meal was reasonable and the service for us was friendly but I was most upset by the attitude taken towards an old couple on an adjacent table. It certainly spoiled the meal for me. Another thing DO NOT order a milk shake - it's simply taseless milk with an additive which reminded me on the 1970's. The shop downstairs is excellent however and the cakes - which we didn't have - also looked great.

I do love this place - it's not just the Village Post Office but a real treasure trove of a gift shop and a fantastic cafe. We've stopped off for their takeaway sandwiches and cakes before (try the Millionaires Shortbread), but having had our eyes on their breakfast menu for a while, today we decided to try it out and it was fab. Delicious cooked breakfasts with lots of options, and really good value. It's a good job I don't actually live in Great Bowden or my waistline would suffer considerably from over-consumption of their amazing sausage and hash brown sandwiches.

Wine is by Stowells and reasonably priced, all drinks seem carefully chosen from high end producers. Good value pleasant service, cakes bakes and puddings looked inviting, but we did not try. Only disappointment was not too keen on the coffee. It is quaint, but good food, well worth the short detour, they also do breakfasts!Out door seating is available.

Service is prompt and friendly, either in the conservatory or, in fine weather, outside in the little yard. Free WiFi is handy, as we occasionally use the café for lunchtime meetings. We haven't been to Kilworth House for a very long time but thought it was about time to give it a another go! Well you won't be disappointed - the food in the The Wordsworth was amazing! We have been to many Michelin starred restaurants and I must say that this would not look out of place! We were very well looked after. The only I would say is that they need another dish per course on the menu as there were only 3 starters, 3 main courses etc. Also it was a shame that there wasn't more people in the restaurant but I suppose it is January. We will definitely be going back!

An Absolute Gem in the Heart of the Countryside! I’m not from around the area, but during my stay, I found myself coming back to The Staff of Life Pub every single day—and with good reason! The food here is simply out of this world. From the mouth-watering tapas, which were a delightful mix of flavors and textures, to the traditional roast dinner that was as comforting as it was delicious, everything was cooked to perfection. And don’t even get me started on the apple pie—it’s truly to die for. Each bite was a slice of heaven, perfectly balanced with just the right amount of sweetness. Beyond the food, the ambience of the pub is fantastic. It has that perfect blend of warm, cozy, and welcoming, with a lively atmosphere that makes you feel at home, whether you're a regular or just passing through. The décor is charming, and the subtle lighting creates a wonderfully relaxed vibe. What really made my experience special was the incredible service, particularly from Sharon. She is such a gem—warm, attentive, and always ready with a smile. Sharon made sure that every visit was memorable and went out of her way to ensure everything was perfect. Whether you're local or just visiting, The Staff of Life is a must-visit. The food, the service, and the atmosphere are simply unbeatable. I’ll definitely be back!

Stayed here overnight, the room was beautiful and spotless ditto bathroom. We opted to eat in the restaurant and the food was delicious and plentiful, it’s probably the best vegetarian lasagne I’ve eaten, there was a good choice for vegetarians , my husband really enjoyed the gammon. We were both so full we couldn’t manage a pudding. The bar was really busy but we couldn’t hear a word from our room. I slept for nearly 9 hours which is rare for me. The staff were attentive but not overbearing, they are certainly an asset to the business that’s for certain. I wouldn’t hesitate to go back.
