I’ve just ordered a cook breakfast that was served toast without butter had to visit the till to then be told they had ran out of sachets - so past 3 hard chunks of frozen butter in a small pot. Got to the black pudding served raw and semi frozen 🤢 The young guy behind the counter very polite and friendly but the other staff could learn to smile more. Sadly, I won’t be returning came in today after awful surgery and first day out since my operations.

Abysmal service.. We ordered bowl of chips for 2 year old alongside our meals which had not arrived 10 mins after our meals so went to ask and was told they would be right out alongside missing beans for a jacket potato.. 5 mins later and with our meals done still no chips or beans so had to ask for refund.. The sandwich fillings were way to much to handle or eat without dropping it all over yourself too.. All in all wont be eating here again especially after child left with no food 🙄

Having been regular , loyal customers of Wellingtons since it opened , I am afraid to say our visit today, 01/07/2024 , was a disaster. We arrived and ordered our food at 13.17. I ordered Scampi and chips for my wife, and I chose sausage and mash from the menu . Sorry, we don't have any mash today, but we can do it with chips ,OK I said. At 13.50, I asked at the counter where our food was , and it was immediately served . The only trouble was that my wife's scampi and chips were cold. Up to the counter again to complain and was assured the meal would be replaced , as it was 10 minutes later , by which time I had finished mine. On the menu, it stated that the Scampi was served with Tartar sauce, but on both occasions, I had to go and ask for it. A mumbled, "Sorry" from a man in a red shirt, and we left No , can we get you a fresh cup of tea or anything. I write this review with a heavy heart, having visited Wellingtons in the past and had good food and service.

The cafe itself is lovely, modern and clean, and the servers were very pleasant. However, apart from that, this place is very hard to recommend. We ordered a few paninis and chips, as well as a few cold drinks. The place was empty other than 2 or 3 other tables, and the amount of time we waited for our food to arrive was simply painful. We initially received one portion of chips by themselves after what was probably 15 minutes. The chips were finished before the paninis arrived, and then we proceeded to finish the paninis before the rest of the chips arrived. The food itself was OK, but for an empty cafe with a small, managementable menu and what looked like quite a lot of staff in the kitchen, the wait and gaps between the food arriving was pretty poor. It was mentioned that there was a trainee chef in the kitchen, but I can't quite see how heating up some sandwiches and chips for one of four populated tables could go so wrong. A real shame. I could be tempted to return for coffee and cake in the future because it is a nice cafe with nice staff, but I wouldn't look to take somebody that I liked back here for food.

Sadly - not a great experience, today. Our visit was to start off with breakfast, and then on to shopping at the Garden Centre. We arrived and told to pick a table, which we did [ one that was nicely decorated with Christmas decorations]. We informed the server of our table number and ordered our meals. Lovely breakfast. During our meal, a staff member came to our table and - curtly - told us we 'had to' move to another table [ mid-meal!] as our table was set for a Christmas meal and we shouldn't have been sitting there! She then walked away, leaving us quite astounded. We decided to finish our meal, before we moved our drinks to another adjacent table. We sat at the next table for another 15 min+ -, to note that the table we had vacated was stripped & reset - but no one was allocated to use it all the while we were sitting on the next table. We could have easily completed our meal before the table was required for the next customers. Surely, when we informed the server initially of our table selection, we should/could have been informed then, that the table we selected, was reserved for the festive occasion? Or maybe, for the future - a 'reserved sign' is put on to tables that are allocated for special reasons. [ there were many tables all with decorations on them ] And - may I suggest that your staff training includes 'simple courtesy to customers' - explaining why and with a 'please' & a smile, when dealing with customers. Maybe it was just that one staff member, who dealt with us who was 'poor', however left us with a bad experience. We wouldn't have minded if we were asked if we'd mind moving table; being 'told' that we had to - didn't go down well.

We came here for lunch. It was not particularly busy at the time (around midday). We noticed a sign on the counter stating that they were short staffed and that there may be a wait on occasions. Probably we should have seen this as a warning. Our first choice from the menu was the full English breakfast but this wasn't available: apparently it takes too long to prepare! My wife then chose ham and eggs with French fries and peas. The eggs were not properly cooked and the meal was cold. My wife was met with indifference when she complained, being informed that the ham would be served cold (which we would expect) with an offer to replace the meal, which was declined. My meal, sausage and mash, was satisfactory although the green beans mentioned on the menu had been substituted for carrots, red cabbage and peas (just as well I like these). For balance the coffee was OK - it's not Barrista prepared, but from a machine: it's easy enough to press a button. The restaurant itself could use a refresh. Overall a disappointing experience.

I visit Wellingtons cafe at least three times a month and take my grandchildren to soft play on Mondays for a treat . I’ve Always been satisfied with the level of customer service BUT today was the most stressful experience in the cafe - I was holding a baby plus a rucksack and a toddler by my side . It wasn’t busy yet 3 members of staff was just chatting . I asked for help regarding have you a menu and this young lady just plonked one in front of me and walked away , I asked her if she could possibly open the page to where kids meals are and she wouldn’t , it was clear I had my hands full and two thirsty and hungry little ones - no offer of help whatsoever and when I asked for it , it was quite clear to me and other customers she didn’t want to and actually got quite sharp with me regarding me asking if she would help with a high chair . I asked a member of staff what the young ladies name was but they wouldn’t give it to me . All this was witnessed by other customers . During my meal when it finally came she and other members were discussing myself . I will never go in there again and having people like that work for you is not good . More training in customer service is a must .

Absolutely disgusting! Visited the garden centre and decided to get a drink from the cafe. Decided on a coffee and cake which were both adequate. While I was watching the world go by and drinking my coffee, I was horrified to watch a member of staff there, an older lady, clearing tables and eating the leftover food directly off the plates. It wasn't just one table either, it was several as she wandered around, cleaning up and eating scraps. I gave up on my drink and left quickly. If this kind of thing happens in the restaurant, who knows what goes on in the kitchen! Will never go back and will tell my friends not to either.

The Martin's Arms re-opened on 27 November 2024 under the new management (Professional MasterChef winner Laurence Henry). We went on the second night it was open. We liked the refurbishment - different but still traditional and cosy. The pub was busy with drinkers with some people choosing, as we did, to eat in the bar. (There's also a dining room). The menu is a mixture of pub classics (fish and chips, burger, steak etc.) with some more 'restaurant' dishes, including game which I was very pleased to see on a menu. We enjoyed our food - it was well cooked and presented. The service was friendly, timely and accurate. I really hope it's a success.

Fantastic service here! Heidi held the door open for my relative, showed us to our table and served us our drinks! Food is really delicious and very good value! Highly recommend!

Lovely welcome from the bar manager and land lady as we walk in. The lounge bar and toilets were very clean. As the current land lady had on just took over the running of the pub, there was no ales on offers. This is something that she is looking to get sorted in the not too distant future. Defo put this place on your list of pubs to visit when in the area. Good luck, Three Horseshoe's, see you again sometime!!

Went to the Gamston Lock for a family meal. The place was decorated nicely for Christmas and from the moment we walked in the service was great. Quickly shown to our table and drinks served. We had Leah to look after us at the table and she was really great and attentive. Highly commend Leah for her hard work and cheerfulness which added to our evening. We all had the festive set menu which everyone thought was amazing. Highly recommend. Will definitely return.

Some of the seating is dirty and ripped. Not inviting.
