Had a awful sausage sandwich, that I paid £3.40 for the pleasure. Sausages were undercooked and probably the cheapest sausages available (Grizzly and chewy). Only given 2 stars instead of 1 as it's not made me ill (Yet). Won't be returning.

Local to my workplace so i have visited often. Majority of the food is lovely, i would say the jacket potatoes were a little bit disappointing as they need to be cooked longer personally. I had a chicken and bacon salad today which was lovely and fresh, well balanced and a great portion. The desserts are absolutely lovely too.

It’s a tiny place with a big heart. Had an excellent full English breakfast. The meat was locally sourced and far better than the R***mond meat tubes of shame that so many places use. They even make an excellent cuppa. I don’t visit Sheffield very often but I will be visiting whenever I do.

Took my granddaughter here for lunch yesterday. It was our first visit but certainly will not be our last! The cafe is beautiful and clean, food is fresh and amazing and the staff are wonderful. Even though it was closing time, we were not hurried along or made to feel like we should leave. Fantastic little gem, definately recommend a visit.

Very tasty club Sandwich and a decent selection of crisps and drinks to add to the order. Might have wanted it a big bigger for just less than a fiver tho but it was tasty.

Ham salad sandwich with everything on consists of 1 slice of ham, lettuce, cucumber & tomato onion, & that’s it. What about beetroot, peppers, egg. Dull boring tasteless & Very Expensive, rip off.

Stopped and grabbed a cold drink and a slice of Banana and Nutella cake, but the cake was really stale and dry. Probably would have been delicious if it had been fresh.

Excellent selection available including several interesting and enjoyable options. Staff happy to make stuff that isn't on the menu including previous specials. Great fresh produce and all very reasonably priced. Some nice sweet treats too and also ice cream. Plenty to keep going back for.

Having been here quite a few times and had a few different meals, I can say that this is one of my go too places to eat in Sheffield. The huge variety on board is only matched by the quality delivered. Their breakfasts are hugely nice and great value, while the lunchtime sandwiches and salads are very filling with plenty of choice. I recommend having one of the gourmet sandwiches (either fish finger or Southern fried chicken) which are a little more but well worth it for the beautiful filling and use of ciabatta bread. Really though anything is nice here and keep an eye on the weekly specials too.

Went here for brunch date. Good food and drinks. Friendly staff and atmosphere. I got hot chocolate and bacon sandwich. Bacon was crispier than most cafes do it it was delicious. Hot chocolate better than starbucks in my opinion. Very affordable prices. Will go again

The food was decent quality, nothing amazing, but priced a bit high considering the average quality. Service was very quick, staff were polite and the atmosphere is nice and relaxed. All in all, not a bad place to go. For pricing reference; it cost me £9-£10 for two basic sandwiches and a regular hot chocolate.

Was in Sheffield at hospital visiting and didn't know anywhere in local area. Wanted a full English but didn't wanna go to one of those fancy pants cafes that do eggs benedict with granary toast and call it breakfast. So google maps suggested this, from pics could see they did proper breakfast and when I arrived was served fast, price was reasonable and the food was to die for. Sausages where perfectly cooked and meaty as you get, egg perfect too and bacon beans and toast all scrumptious. Unfortunately the pic only shows the aftermath of the destruction, the collateral is in my stomach. Highly recommended

Oh dear. Looking at the other reviews I think I must have been unlucky. My order was simple- 2 bottled drinks and a jacket with butter and cheese. The jacket looked like it had been cooked in an oven but tasted microwaved. In fact, when i got to the centre it was not cooked through and tasted stale so I suspect these were cooked in advance, refrigerated and microwaved. And my reason for thinking this is it tasted exactly like my jackets from home when I reheat them the next day. Disgusting. They refunded without question and I left hence the two stars. The decor was lovely and the staff were friendly.

Lovely little café that's right in the middle of Sheffield Hallam's campus. Students get a 10% discount and they serve everything from sandwiches to sweet treats to full English breakfasts - and all of it is great. Just be sure to go before the hour, it can get really crowded when all the students change sessions! (:

The multiple blackboards used to show the choices available are a sure indication this Cafe cares about their customers. It may not be the cheapest but portions are generous so good value for money. All choices are made to order to your specification, so no hidden margarine or added extras that can spoil a sandwich! Cooked breakfasts, paninis and a wide range of generously portioned cakes are also on offer. What makes it extra special is the smiling happy staff. Choose to sit in or take out. You won't be disappointed.

Thought this place was pretty nice and the portions were massive. Nice location- central but tucked away so feels like a find. In my view some of the prices could be a little cheaper or maybe there should be a few more deals on.

Highly recommended! Decent portions and always verrrrry tasty! Service can be slow at busy times, so best to ring ahead if you’re in a rush.

I have walked past this cafe many times but never been in till Wed morning , i had a granary breadcake with good quality bacon , sausage and mushrooms with a latte . Enjoyed it so much I took my cousin back the next morning for a breakfast butty she enjoyed it too . Frequented by students mainly , but easily accommodates us shoppers ! Seating inside for about 20 with bar stools and 3 tables . Slices of cakes looked lovely in the servery , i will be back to sample more delights might try a lunch sandwich next . Open week days 8am till 3pm. Highly recommend .

Can truthfully say the most obliging and helpful of eateries in this part of town. I would have been stuck without their assistance, so happy to post a positive review.

Nice food but the portions were child size. Paid £5.50 for the chips, peri peri chicken wrap and salad, meal special. Opened it up to find about 6 chips and a wrap that was finished in two bites. For the price I was very disappointed will not be returning.

Great cafe for a morning bacon and sausage butty. Close to the city centre and Hallam university. Always pop in when working close by.

Wanted a quick stop for coffee and cake today and Wellies was just what we were looking for. Lovely moist banana cake and good size latte at reasonable price. Give me a good independent like this any day over the ubiquitous soulless chain places.

Here is the only place in Sheffield that I have been to that does a fantastic breakfast. Always come here when I'm extremely hungry in a morning :-)

This is definatley the place to go for a decent tray bake, especially if your feeling indulgent. I don't normally like things too chocolatey but I can make an exception here, oreo and white chocolate digestive slice with chocolate sauce. The taste isn't too heavy but still very satsfying. I must have the recipie! The only downside is they rotate the selection of bakery foods so you have to be on the ball if you want one I will most likely be back to try the breckfast rolls which are very popular but this traybake will always be a go- to choice when. I desire something sweet

Visited for the first time, won't bother again. Ordered takeaway soup, the time it took the girl to write out the order & issue a ticket, she could have poured the soup into a cup surely?! I saw no queue & assumed immediate service, alas no, had to dash so cancelled which took even more time. Their system doesn't make sense, there was nobody behind me. Shame as I am in the area regularly but I need a quicker more efficient service, I don't want a ticket when something is ready to pour & there is nobody else to serve. Also I was in there for about 10 minutes & left smelling like a fat fryer, very off putting.

Me visita aquí regularmente ya que trabajo cerca. Me gusta hay sándwiches, que son bien servida con un montón de llenado. También tienen algunos muy agradable y rodajas crunch con flapjacks diferentes rellenos de chocolate, tales como Marte, y que son crunchie maltesers muy bonito pero muy traviesos pero agradable! Estupendo si tienes un diente dulce como yo!

Personal amable, siempre concurrido y en una ubicación privilegiada para Sheffield Hallam University. La selección de pasteles es muy buena también, y puede garantizar una justa porción de tamaño por un precio razonable!

When is a sandwich shop more than a sandwich shop?When it's Wellies The sandwich shop is small on a corner close to Howard Stree. Sheffield Hallam UniversitySize matters, the staff are very friendly and helpful. When we invaded at lunchtime. We had informed them of the impending horde and the offered us pre-ordwr. This worked for us as well as it meant our order were ready and waiting for us on arrival.The food itself was well prepared and well presented and tasty.

Fish fingers, with mushie peas, in a sandwich, what more can I say! It certainly hit the spot for a quick bite at lunch time.

All food prepared to a high standard of quality, large selection of different food on offer along with daily specials, would recommend.

Regularly visit for lunchtime away from work. Good selection of sandwiches and treats - a healthy portion size too!Only grumble would be that it is a little expensive for what it is.

I arrived and was served pretty much immediately asking for a BLT, this turned out to be not on the menu, the girl who served me asked another lady what price it should be and after looking on the board and realising it wasn't there she said usual price for bacon plus 60p for lettuce and 60p for tomato. This totalled £3.60. I usually go to Sarnies on the High Street for my BLTs as they are warm, nice bread, fresh and reasonable priced, however I was close by and Wellies smelt lovely.By all means the menus items sounded lovely with lots of variety however I doubt I will be back, at this price plus a 10 minute wait for it to be made it doesn't seem worth it as the sandwich wasn't 'spectacular' for the premium price paid.

Always a pleasure eating from Wellies, we are regular diners but recently used them for catering on one of our film shoots, Alex and his team created some wonderful dishes and the service was top notch! Highly recommend!

Wellies is a place that I love to visit on a regular basis as it is very close to Sheffield Hallam University where I study.The man who I presume is the manager or owner, is always friendly any time of the day even during busy periods when I imagine it could be quite stressful. The food itself is absolutely gorgeous. Previous reviews have said that the food takes too long to make. However, I don't mind waiting, as the quality of the food is excellent. I can appreciate that food that is cooked from fresh can take a while to make. In particular, I really like the chicken and bacon salad (not sure of the actual name) the balsamic dressing is absolutely fantastic. And I can tell that the food itself is good quality, as I'm not usually a fan of olives but the marinated olives are yummy at wellies. The food is reasonably priced for the area and the portions are very big. I often struggle to finish any of the food I order. The soup of the day is also another I would recommend. I can tell a lot of effort is put into the food as it tastes incredibly fresh. In fact I can't believe the variety of food that they offer, it must take a long time to make it all.I would visit Wellies for breakfast, lunch and dinner if I could. It is fantastic! Thank you.

Sandwiches are poorly made, dry bread, cheap fillings and unevenly spread. Ham salad consisted of lettuce, one slice of cucumber and one slice of cucumber. The chutney I requested was slapped in the centre instead of being spread evenly and there was hardly any of it.The jacket potatoes are hard in the middle and the amount of filling you get is pitiful. The extra side salad I paid for was also non existent.Service takes forever! People who come in after you get served before you even if they've ordered the same a you! The staff are extremely slow and seem to have no rush in them!A much better place to go is Roast round the corner or nearby Lynne's Pantry!

This is a great café, the food is great, the coffee is good but why does it take so long for them to make the food? I have stood 25 minutes in this café waiting for a sandwichPorridge for breakfast - lovely big portion, it doesn't take 10 minutes to make porridge though!Staff are great, friendly and well presented always - I feel sorry for them having to apologise for your wait I do recommend this place, and I keep going back, but make sure you have plenty of time to wait for your order

Stopped in for breakfast on journey from SHF station to work and ordered the full works. Breakfast was average with tinned tomatoes (I'm not a fan) and tasteless sausages and overall I felt ingredients were low quality. Service was okay.There was no reason to return - I haven't been back

I use Wellies often as it's locale is ideal to catch a bite whilst at my office on Arundel Street, varied menu with delicious homemade burgers, there is something for everybody. The friendly and helpful staff are a joy to be served by, a very personal service. Would recommend to anybody!

We called in on spec as the menu looked appetising. We were not disappointed. We had a dish of enchiladas between us (mean OAP's) and they gave an extra plate and cutlery. we can honestly say that it was soooooo tasty and a picture on the plate. We had a cuppa that went down well. It was well worth the wait. So full-marks to the Saturday crew. These young people are a credit to thier Mums! Polite, smiling and appeared happy. Well done gang. Was tempted in by the lure of homemade cheesecake featured on the Wellies Facebook page. Was very pleasantly surprised with how varied the menu was, places that serve all day breakfast are hard to come by and on top of that, you can get milkshake or smoothies, jacket potatoes, paninis, chips, homemade cake, warm Belgian waffles! Endless choice and my jacket was delicious, like the choccy milkshake I sampled and the white chocolate cheesecake. Great friendly service too and in a nice area with other small local businesses. Will return next time we need a bite in Town!

Wellies is not far from the train station, making it slightly quieter than other cafés in the centre of town. There's a wide variety on their menu and the prices are very reasonable. I ordered a chicken, bacon and mozzarella toasted ciabatta with BBQ sauce. I therefore expected to this come a) toasted and b) warm.... My sandwich was neither of these things. I also had a hot chocolate on the side, which quite frankly was one of the worst I've ever had. This cafe is done out delightfully inside but after experiencing the food, I'm not sure I'll bother visiting again.

Not sure about the authenticity of all the preceding reviews being made by people with only 1 solitary review, never understand why anyone would create an account just to review a single place and then nothing else.. anyway. you can hear about this place by someone who is more, cough *widely travelled*. me and my partner in crime came to sheffield on a day trip and had breakfast of coffee and a bacon brie and pickle sandwich on ciabatta, all were fantastic and reasonably priced. the place was very clean and friendly service, also pretty close to the station. I'd recommend anyone to visit, after visiting you can even create an account on tripadvisor and write your one, your only review, about this place :P

Wellies just opened up just around the corner from our office, we put in an order most days and the food is delicious!Their cakes and specials are varied and always worth breaking any strict salad diet you may be on! however if you are on a strict salad diet their salads are fab too!
