Loverly pub with history, but cost £14 for two pints (a beer and a cider) which is steep in my opinion for an old school pub.

I had a pint of Somersby blackberry cider which was unusual but nice. There were barely any people in the pub, but the main issue was the barmaid was quite ignorant. Not rude, just did not want to engage in any kind of conversation. Strange really.

Chris, the proprietor of the bar is a genuinely nice and thoughtful guy. Visited with two visually impaired mates, one of which he already knew. Must say he is a lovely stand up guy who couldn't be any more accommodating if he tried. I was drinking Warsteiner at £4.8 a pint. The bar itself is spacious, plenty of room and regardless of where you are seated. A really good outdoor and undercover smoking/vaping area if needed, with outside lights and heaters. Definitely a new and fave after work spot. Will likely be back with Steven and Legeon again. ✌🏻

Pre gig option for the Don Valley Bowl. Poor choice of beers. Had a decent gig day fast food menu which looked good as it came out but we’d already eaten. Place only opens weekends and gig days I believe.

Ideally placed for the arena, this place is well worth visiting for drinks and food before any gig/event. I'd advise booking a table though because the bar area can get a bit busy! The food was delicious and despite the hustle and bustle of a pre-Liam Gallagher crowd the service was excellent and the staff were amazing. I'll definitely be back in the future

Nipped in here for food prior to a night at the arena, cosy down to earth pub with a friendly atmosphere. Lovely inside, not a wine bar or theme pub or anything pretentious, just an honest little place! The food was excellent, just good pub food cooked well! This sort of place deserves your trade far more than the dross over the road....looking at you Nando's, KFC, Taco Bell!

Wentworth was amazing! The gardens, the sights and the history was fantastic! For £5 you can get access to the entire area! It takes about 25 mins to walk to the castle. And on the way you can walk through the amazing gardens. See the different types of structures along the way to the castle grounds! They have a Fantastic play area for kids and serve ice cream there. There is also a gently used book store and a cafe with toilets. Plenty of parking and an Arms pub at the entrance to stop in by before or after your visit! 10/10!!

Delightful cozy pub in a part of Sheffield which is swamped with horrendous chain pubs. Welcoming, friendly atmosphere with a proper Sheffield landlord. Well cared for beers, spotlessly clean, nice outside area. RUDE bar lady. If I could give 0 stars I would. Tried booking for food but didn't get a response. Went into pub which was half empty. Got a table, then went to bar to get drinks just to find the bar lady talking about us an pointing. We asked to order drinks, but was told bluntly 'we are not guaranteed a Sunday lunch', even though didn't ask for that. Got the drinks, which were served with complete silence. Then completely ignored. The landlord seemed nice though. Shame his staff let him down.

This pub is a little piece of yesteryear surrounded by modern stuff. I presume it is listed otherwise it would surely have been knocked down with all the other historic pubs in the area. It is an old Wards pub and still has the old Wards neon sign outside. Inside was really nice; quirky and a lot of the original features are preserved and it seemed to have a nice outside sitting area. Sadly the beer offering was poor. Only 2 hand pulled beers and one of those had run out. Inexcusable! The food menu was very limited - most items had been crossed out as not available though the place did seem to have a decent sized kitchen. I had a club sandwich which was enormous and pretty good with fresh ingredients but slightly spoiled by the chicken being from chicken nuggets. At the back is what looks like an eating area/function room with large speakers. Rather out of character I thought - but there again I could not quite see what market the place was aiming at. Would be interested to visit in the evening. If the place got a decent range of cask ales and improved the menu I think it would be great. If only they could bring back the original pint of Wards Best Bitter i'd be there every week. I'd like to give it another chance anyway.

I have been coming into this pub since the early 1980's so have seen a lot of changes. The beer was always the attraction, being a former Wards house. Just prior to the refurb and the change in ownership they used to do really good pub food but since the change they don't seem to do this anymore. This is a shame as the only other eating place is the eighteen ten which if you read my review of that you wan't want to go there. The welcome is good here and you can strike up a good Sheffield chin wag with most of the clientele. Beer quality is excellent but can be pricey. This is probably due to having a captive punter with no other pubs in the area. I paid £3 for Bradfield Belgian Blue which at the Nags Head in Loxley is £2 a pint. Admittedly the Nags is a tied Bradfield pub and the brewery tap so will be a bit cheaper. The Wentworth has had a really good refurb and is very clean compared to what it used to be like. Please start doing the quality food that used to be served here and we will call in for a pub lunch now and again. Can not fault the quality of beer and this is a hidden gem in Sheffield and will go down in my book as part of the real "ale" circuit!! Full marks apart from the beer prices.

If you’re going to book Tapton Hall for an occasion DO NOT have their DJ. We went to a 60th wedding anniversary and the DJ decided he wasn’t playing any music we asked for. We’re talking a 60th wedding anniversary so you’d expect Beatles, Stones Motown well we got none of that, just the rubbish HE wanted to play..he did play about 4 seconds of a requested Drifters song and as soon as we all got up …he turned it off and said ‘ I’ll play that later’, so we all sat down . This DJ was being paid a good amount for his services and he was rubbish. You’d think that when he’d got people on the dance floor he’d stick to that type of music because everybody was enjoying it…not this DJ he’d empty the floor with music from such as S club 7 whatever they’re called and this was for an audience of people 70+ years old and what’s more important the customer who was paying him. In fact at one point the person who was employing him asked for some Bob Marley..you’d think he’d play a few reggae songs get everyone up.. no chance. ONE song not even by Bob Marley and that was it..then back to his rubbish. I tell you we went to a do at Beauchief golf club in February and the DJ they had..(don’t know his name) was brilliant. He played what his audience asked for and got a feel for his audience and had us up dancing all night. So if you’re having a ‘do’ at Tapton Hall get another DJ and not the one they recommend…forewarned is forearmed .
