Caribbean Spice in Sheffield

A must try for anyone looking to try Caribbean food for the first time or seasoned aficionados. Exceptional patties for a steal of a price. The chicken patty was huge for 1.50 and did not skimp on filling. I also ordered the jerk chicken which came with rice and peas, plantain and dumplings. Once again a good portion for the price and some flavourful food. The chicken was packed with spices and the dumplings were a standout. What is arguably better than the food here is the brilliant service. The guy at the counter is full of positivity and constantly smiling and the food is ready in no time.

We had the pleasure of trying the jerk chicken, rice, and peas from this restaurant and it was an exceptional experience. The portion size was impressively generous, providing ample variety and value. The jerk chicken was a standout—spicy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. Paired with the rice and peas, which were fresh and seasoned to perfection, every bite was a delight. Just visited what I was hoping was a good Jamaican Take-Away and was not disappointed ordered Curried Mutton with Rice and Peas, Portion of Mac n Cheese, Mixed Veg, Fried Dumplings, Patties and Cake with a couple of soft drinks. Food was Really Good will certainly be going back Kev is an Amazing Chef Thank You 👍🏾

Small, good atmosphere, walk in and kingkev the chef greets you like your family. Food is spot on I went for jerk chicken and rice & peas. Just the right amout of spice for me but had all the sauces out incase you wanted to add more spice. Highly recommend coming to a local independent carribean food place if you're passing. Does take out, has a delivery services I believe as its advertised in the window and it is cash only. There's on street parking.

Food was banging - we had the jerk wings & curried goat, both with rice & peas, veg, plantain and dumplings. What’s better than the food is the service - quite possibly the friendliest, happiest man on the planet. The only minor thing I can say is there’s no toilet facilities or somewhere to wash your hands, which could help after eating that amazing food. Will definitely be going again.

I remember being a kid and my mum getting us food from here. I decided to order last night the food was amazing but I did order at 6.48pm I was told an hour and didn’t receive my order until around 10pm. The driver forgot my drink but did bring it back to me. I can only image the food took so long because it is so amazing that the shop is always busy. Initially I was disappointed with the time I had to wait but when I had a bite of that jerk dumpling and tried that curry mutton it was like magic any frustrations I had with the waiting time disappeared. I will be ordering again at some point I think next time I will just order abit earlier. Amazing food though 🔥😍

Food came absolutely freezing, chicken in gravy when I asked for it not to be as I have a toddler who doesn’t like sauce , not very authentic , chicken bun up, very bland. Took 2 hours to arrive , unacceptable

Went here for a birthday meal, the staff were so friendly and the food was delicious with reasonable sizes, the only downside was the fact they ran out of a lot of the dishes we wanted to order.

Oxtail is the make or break in any yard food shop...This one absolutely slapped...I cannot lie was worth the 97 mile journey and will deffo do it again!!!

I absolutely loved getting my food here. KingKev is an excellent host, friendly, outgoing, and so easy to chat with. Food is priced beyond reasonable, looks delicious, packed fully wrapped to prevent spilling, and the home front devoured the whole lot within 20 minutes! I bought 1 x Oxtail, 1 x Lamb, 1 x Brown Stew, 8 x Dumplings, 4 x Patties. Included we found cabbage and 3 good portions of Rice & Peas. Pls note: Cash Only

This is a little restaurant that is run by a kool Jamaican dude. The food is a great tasting selection of authentic Caribbean flavours and seasonings. The curry chicken, etc, has too little meat, though. The seating is quite minimal and can only have 5 person dine in at a time. Overall, it's not a bad joint.

This was a fun little place. I didn't get to meet the chef personally, but I certainly heard him! The wait time was a tad long but definitely worth it. An array of folk kept turning in hoping there was any food left, that's always a good sign. I had the mutton curry and that was a wholly nourishing experience! Was a nice surprise when it came out with all the trimmings. With the music and people filtering in and out I felt like I was in someone's kitchen - brilliant.

Real shame that you literally have to spend 15 for delivery.. cause the foods mint like a large mutton and rice is a tenner but what else u suppose to get to make it to 15? especially when ur not wanting anything else😑 and ain't nobody gonna get something for sake of it cos thats just wasting money not to mention whatever you order to make it to 15.. so for that reason it's a 1 star from me.

Sorry but what part of Caribbean food is this?? The food was vile!! Not worth the whole heap of money he charged for the so called catering he did for us. Iv eaten a lot of Caribbean food and this was the worse by far. The mutton and curried chicken (if that’s what it was?) had no flavour apart from ginger, it was watery and not appealing to look at either I wouldn’t have served this to my dogs!! Avoid and keep your money. Please stop cooking and calling this Caribbean food is a mockery

We ordered the brown stew fish and were warned it would take a while to prepare but we decided to go for it anyway. It was a good choice because despite the wait, the food was absolutely amazing. You can tell it's cooked with love and passion and I honestly think it was the best take away I have had in over a year. Thank you!

Was served Jerk Chicken that was burnt to mask the rotten Chicken. The rice and peas that came with it had very little peas. I'm sure there are better places to eat in Sheffield.

very small portions very poor quality food, the jerk chicken was burnt i suspect to hide the fact that the meat was literally ROTTEN. The rice and peas actually had no peas not the kind of rice and peas that I had growing up. just very nasty food and an embarrassing attempt/representation of caribbean food just nasty

I visit here once a week and I am never disappointed. For those keen fans of Jamaican food and those wanting to try something new, I highly recommend. The taste and quality of the food here is incredible, the portion sizes are generous and the prices are great. The unbridled happiness, bubbly persona and overwhelming hospitality shown by the owner known locally as ‘King Kev’ is refreshing. The fact that this restaurant/take away gets really busy with both new and repeat customers alike is testament to the all around quality of food here. As a side note: my fav dish is the Curried Mutton ;)

Think long and hard about ordering from here, placed an order at 4:03 over 2 hours later still nothing, made three calls chasing it, to be mis informed twice, it finally turned up at 6:47 nearly 3hours of waiting.. declined at door

Me and my son visited today 18th August, on entering we were greated with a smiling lady. Fantastic customer service. He had brown stew and jerk wings. We waited about 15 minutes whilst the food was cooked, but and this is the bit I liked, the owner King Kev came out shook our hands and thanked us for coming. Top boy. The food was tasty hot and plentiful. Bonus also we got 5 wings instead of 4. Boss man was a proper G. Caribbean Spice you smashed it. Would we go again yes, and again and again. Will never eat from there again... worst mistake ordering from these guys tonight as me and my partner have now ended up with no tea! Placed my order at 7 was told over an hour.. 2 hours later I ring up chasing the order and spoken to a rude lady which then went on to tell me less than 30 mins and that it’s out for order, another 50 mins went on.. sadly me and my partner decided to cancel our order as was approaching 10 o’clock and was completely and utterly disappointed, wasnt given not a single apology or alternative to resolve the inconvenience and lacked communication, you have lost loyal customers.

Been here many times and King Kev never fails to come up with the goods. By far the best mutton curry I’ve had jerk chicken dumplings are something else. Try it yourself you’ll not be disappointed and Kev will give you a warm welcome

I called in by myself as I fancied something spicy. I have to say I’ve found one of my new favourites and I’ll soon be back. The food’s lovely. I had the Curried Mutton rice and salad, everything was bang on. The salad was fresh and the rice perfect, the star of the show was the curry and I really can’t wait to go back.

I've been going to the Caribbean Spice for a fair few years now, having travelled to the Caribbean many times with work i couldn't find that authentic Caribbean taste in Sheffield that i craved from my visits until i found Kevin and the Caribbean Spice. I must have tried every dish and i cant say i've ever had a bad experience, sure sometimes the item i want isn't available, this only shows me Kevin is cooking the food fresh, the Brown Stew Chicken & Oxtail are my favourites but the taste is always authentic and served with a true Caribbean smile and hospitality by Kevin. For those who mention timings, things not being available or poor service, welcome to the true Caribbean, get a beer, sit back and wait for the Caribbean magic, its really not worth getting worried about.

I’ve collected food and also had a delivery, food has been 5* every time. This is the best place in Sheffield to go for caribean food.

I'm no stranger to this place but unfortunately for me my missus doesn't eat spicy food so it's rare i can order a takeaway just for myself, FORTUNATELY for me my missus is on holiday so i got a lift down with a friend on Sunday an I actually ordered 2 meals.. Jerk chicken for dinner an a mutton curry for my tea.... You can't put into words just how tasty the food is here so il just skip to what a nice friendly guy the owner is an yeah sometimes it takes a while but it's worth every second you wait.. Pedimos comida de este restaurante en 18,20 y al final entregado en 20,50 (a pesar de que nos dijeron a las 19.30 que se encontraba en su camino). Pedimos dos comidas principales, una sopa y artículos diversos. Cuando nos trajeron la comida nos dijeron que no había más pollo Jerk pero que había imbécil ante pollo incluido. Cuando abrimos la bolsa, el pollo Jerk plato principal no estaba incluido. No había pollo Jerk. Llamé al restaurante para averiguar lo que pasaba, sólo me dijeron que por un muy desagradable caballero que nos habían dicho que en el momento de realizar el pedido, lo cual fue categóricamente falsas. La comida estaba fría, las frituras de pescado de sal comestible. Una vergüenza el servicio de atención al cliente, basura y comida. A pesar de haber recomendado este restaurante a mis amigos anteriormente nunca orden desde aquí de nuevo.

Tienen a este lugar, la comida, bien de precio y un feliz amigable equipo. Quería carnero pero por desgracia, han quedado todas pero eso no quiere decir que no me Wolf por el pollo. Volveré, sin duda.

Forget everything else, if you want a mutton/ goat curry then this is your place!!! Really good value for money and dirt cheap!!! Veg thrown in with it and people are friendly too. Just make sure you give them a shout though as theyre sometimes chilling in the back lol.
