Food was lovely but rude staff and menu was disappointing. Won't be visiting again.

I was really surprised to see the review by the diner who complained about Dan. We have been dining at the Acorn for years and are mostly served by Dan. He is always professional, efficient and friendly not only with us but with other diners. Can't imagine him being any other than that so I can only deduce that there must have been some sort of misunderstanding. All the team at the Acorn , Dan, Gregg ,Nigel and all the waiting on staff are great, as is the food. Never had a problem at any time in all the years we've been going there. The man called.. !! DAN !! what works there was shocking with service skills.. and was very abrupt with my grandparents when he messed the Oder up and was really smug about everything he did!! And then telling another member off staff off for his own wrong doing.. very unprofessional

We came for a meal this evening to celebrate my Dad’s recovery from an illness. The food was delicious and arrived quickly. We were served by Abi who was absolutely amazing. So friendly and attentive. Will be back soon!

Perfect speedy service from Abi who made sure we were happy. Food lovely and a wide choice. Plenty of room between tables and a nice atmosphere. Wide choice of beers.

Really lovely pub. Decor is really nice, staff are super friendly. Our server tonight, a chap in a flat cap was amazing. Only thing that let it down was the food. Kids pizza seemed like it was frozen then microwaved; full of water and really soggy when it arrived. The broccoli with the pie was frozen as well, so again full of water. The mash potato was powered mash, reminded me of really bad school dinner from 25 years ago. We'd travelled half an hour to get there, which meant all things considered it was fairly disappointing, would have just given 3 stars but felt the server really made all the difference so kudos to you.

Really nice staff and good food.

Had a smashing time on a special day with over 20 of my family in honour of my son recently deceased. Staff were wonderful and so efficient and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble and food second to none. We will return when next possible.

Just called in as we'd just comeback from visit to Norwich. Molly was very helpful and managed to get the 4 of seated. Brilliant service. Food excellent and very nice atmosphere.

Staff couldn't do enough for us at the weekend, the food was excellent and I even left my wallet by accident, and got it back in minutes after they called up to say I had left it, such lovely staff I can't recommend enough

Abi had the most exception customer service I, and my beloved family, have ever experienced in our entire lives. Her passion and energy for her work is crystal clear, and very commendable. We will 100% be returning, and would strongly encourage every single person in Sheffield (and surrounding areas) to pay this lovely little pub a visit :)

Had a great meal this evening well presented and good value. Our waiter was Jack who was very polite and friendly, an asset to lovely team at the Acorn.

Great staff,very clean, great atmosphere and the food was not only reasonably priced it came out piping hot and was absolutely beautiful. I had the pie ...pastry to die for and hubby had the gammon .... he's still saying how well cooked it was . Thank you all x

Came for a Sunday dinner with my family, not only was it decent in price but it was easily one of best meals I've had. Amazing friendly staff and a great atmosphere. We will definitely be coming again.

Visited this pub after many years of not going in and first impressions it needed a good clean the tables were sticky and the menu's needed wiping down as well, food was good but service was poor maybe they were short staffed but still this is no excuse having said that the girl that served us was very pleasant,will we visit again i don't think so.

Booked a table for dinner with my Mrs which was a good idea as it was busy! All members of staff were welcoming, as well as the atmosphere. Food was great, deffo shall be coming back as we love losing a pub quiz!

A big thanks to Tracy who chased after my elderly Mum and returned her handbag which she had left in the pub after finishing her meal. Thanks again top service.

Early lunch so quiet but pleasant..Food was great and Tracey a really pleasant attentive waitress. We all really enjoyed it as always.

We sat in the conservatory, nice atmosphere, the food was great we had Beef rib Bourguignon and steak and ale pie (the first choice of meal and pudding was not available, lamb shank and victoria sponge cheesecake) the food was really tasty and we had a yummy dessert; the staff were very friendly!

Absolutely amazing service, great food and choices in a great setting. It was our granddaughter's 9 birthday and she was made to feel special, we had brought a cake but forgot candles, a candle and a serving plate was provided. Thank you all so much fit a great evening. 🤗

The Acorn has improved sincere our last visit, food much nicer, staff a lot more friendly. This is a place we used to visit regularly and perhaps we might just put it back on our regular list.

We had never been before, no one was there to tell us were to be sat, or what to do, ask two ladys before got told to just said over there. So we sat on the bar side. Ordered at the bar, our drinks and food. We got a jacket potato with cheese n beans and was nice. Also ordered a silon steak it was mostly gristle and fat. Has it wasn't edible? we left it and left the premises.

Still my favorite local, visited with family this time around and was pleased to see a new specials menu with the return of a mussel dish. I would still very much recommend this place, been coming for a few years now and have rarely been disappointed with the service. Food is always delicious!

Another brilliant visit as always, it's a bit of a drive out, but well worth it. The menu was still the same, however the specials have changed and are offering some delicious choices. We did only have the lunch deal this time, it was really enjoyable and comes with a drink for a set price, just enough and not too filling. As always we will definitely be back to try the specials, unless it's changed again before we do. Thank you to all the team.

Small portion burnt fish cakes, hard chips possibly cooked twice. No check back had to ask for drinks and dessert. Management dressed too informally not particularly polite, on the whole not a good experience. Would not recommend.

We have the senior menu as we don't eat as much food now. Only trouble is there's not a lot of choice.

Went here for the first time last weekend, nice place. The Food was really nice, we had the fish and chips and the pie and chips(both were very good). Service was pretty good as well considering it was a Saturday afternoon and the place was busy, so it was probably slower than usual hence 3 stars( had to go and ask for more drinks and then had to find someone to ask for desserts and then had to go and find someone to ask for the bill, which i absolutely don't mind doing except they were adamant it was table service only and if you say that, then that's what we would expect) but staff were friendly and helpful when found!... overall a nice pub, Will definitely be coming back again. This is our favourite go-to pub and restaurant and we just can't fault it. The staff are welcoming, friendly, patient, and chatty. Greg and his team are a pleasure to see. There are regular promotions and deals and the menu is refreshed regularly. The venue is decorated in a simple yet effective way. Highly recommended it.

Came in today with family and friends and I’m disgraced in the behaviour of the man who was working today. We started on a positive with the lovely young lady who welcomed us and made us feel very welcomed to then end on a disappointment with the man screaming and shouting in the pub whilst customers and babies were present in the pub to then resulting in him throwing the card machine across the pub also the language he was using was so disgraceful and made us feel like not even wanting to stay. I’m so appalled. My heart went out for the lady who was working today. I will not be coming back especially after today it was so unprofessional.

This is one of my local pubs and we've eaten here a few times and always enjoyed it; it’s just a decent, traditional pub to go to for a few drinks and so convenient for down to earth, value for money food too. This is a Greene King franchise but has all the character a small country pub has to offer as well as a great, large covered outdoor dining area with a large TV and a beer garden also. Their Sunday Dinner is fabulous I have to say and there are other good meals to note too (keep reading) and I am sure we will end up eating here again regularly as it’s so close to us and they have lots of offers! If you’re ever passing or live close by, I would recommend popping into The Acorn Inn for food & drinks. NACHO SHARER £8.99 Home-fried nachos with mozzarella, Cheddar and nacho cheese sauce served with salsa, jalapeños and soured cream – these homemade nachos are impressive! Really big, homemade crunchy nachos and loads of toppings, what’s not to enjoy? BEEF & ALE PIE £11.29 Best Pub Pie Champion & Gold Award Winner at the National Pie Awards British beef and rich Ruddles Ale gravy in shortcrust pastry – this impressive and tasty pie was served with Tenderstem broccoli and gravy and your choice of boiled potatoes or oven-baked chips. A really filling and comforting meal that we couldn’t fault, and have had this a few times now. CHICKEN SCHNITZEL £12.99 Breaded chicken schnitzel served with rosemary sea salted skin-on fries, bravas sauce and a feta, tomato & rocket salad. This is a very filling and comforting plateful. My schnitzel was a tad over-done and chips very salty, but I are the lot – a great pub meal and the bravas sauce was yummy. SUNDAY ROASTS On Sunday, The Acorn offers Roast Dinners from £12.29 – £14.79 with a choice of turkey, beef, lamb shank and vegetarian options. I went with the Roast Turkey Breast and this was with all the trimmings; roast potatoes, seasonal vegetables, cauliflower cheese, sausage meat stuffing, a pub-baked Yorkshire pudding and rich gravy. This was a right plate-fill and I enjoyed every bit of it! A really decent Sunday Dinner.

Been to acorn and ordered our usual lasagna and gammon and never fails to disappoint. Food was so delicious as per and staff went above and beyond. Tracey never fails to make us smile even at her busiest she still always has time. Lovely young lad too who worked with her! Great teamwork. Definitely recommend.

The food was very good when we finally got it one of the orders were wrong and waited quite a while for the right order by which time we had eaten ours then it came with no bread which so had to wait for that forgot the butter so didn't get that either but saying all this it was Friday night so very busy

Visited over Christmas, the place was busy, but service remained brilliant. A fantastic little pub, can sometimes be a bit of a wait to grab a drink when it is busy due to such a tiny bar, but it is well worth the wait.

Popped in after a full day baby sitting. Man did I need a pint! Anyway as it was late evening. We decided to eat out instead of cooking tea. Had a lovely juicey gamon steak with egg, pineapple and chips. Washed down with a Madri. Heaven. Would definitely call in again during the winter months. May have watched a little football too. 😁

We have been coming here for years hence celebrating our moms 80th birthday there..Great service & staff. Shout out to Eve 🙌, who was there for all our needs 15 of us! & even remembered our names..However, the food wasn't its usual standard. A lot of us ordered steak & unfortunately we all left the majority of it 😔...hoping this is purely because of the size of the order..(wasn't given a pre-order option when I booked) . Still had a good night with a great atmosphere.

Just wanted to leave feedback from my most recent visit. Been here a few times, but this last visit they have had a menu change, and can I just say the food is still as delicious! The menu has been reduced down a bit, but still offers plenty of choice and have added some great new dishes, the beef rib is really tasty! There is also an additional specials menu that off two interesting desserts of a giant bourbon or custard cream biscuit. Didn't try the new desserts on this occasion, definitely a good excuse for a revisit, so watch this space......

Our local. Well it's a mile away but we use as our local because foods always good, staff are nice and friendly and the atmosphere is overall good.

Excellent pub with an open area great for watching the rugby/footie! The burger was just right with decent beef and bacon. Would happily recommend and come back again for the good atmosphere!

Sharer nachos good. Avoid starter salt & pepper squid. Very very tiny portion for the price. Staff friendly.

Sat outside - loved the area - didnt eat - there for a few drinks after a funeral - just bit noisy from traffic but thats what you expect from being on busy road but enjoyed our time here

The food was plentiful well presented and cooked but the service seemed very slow. No fish dishes were available because of the risk of cross contamination. I don't mind a wait between meals but this lasted too long and waiting to pay was overly long.

One of our favourite local ale houses. Now a Greene King house, decent selection of real ales, good atmosphere and dog friendly! Staff are always pleasant and welcoming. Outdoor playground for younger guests, restaurant area. Even added 4 x EV charging places, fantastic, but these were taken with non- EV’s which is something they really need to get a grip on.

Love this cosy little pub, It's a great place to meet my friends for a few pre-chap drinks. Great range of wines and even cocktails on draught. We have eaten here before and the menu is nice, we just fancied a few drinks this time....
