Very nice room, pleasant staff. Afternoon tea - nice selection of tea & big pots. Great scone. Savouries weren't my taste. Quality of sweets was mixed, panna cota far too set but brain mousse was fun. Mixed bag but £30 not bad for London!

Wanted a lunch before getting the train from Kings Cross. Ordered a veggie gnocchi and a veg stew. The first was bland, the second was tasty - but deffo not a stew, more a collection of veg items. A little disappointing unfortunately. Tbh the restaurant feels a bit like an afterthought.

The choice for food is either the Kitchen on the 2nd floor or the (busy) Cafe on the ground floor. We decided to take the quieter Kitchen. Seating wasn't a problem though it got busier around 1pm. The menu looks varied but is small and I found it difficult to choose something I actually felt like eating. Lucily the soup of the day was mushroom with sourdough bread. But it was uninspiring with small stems (of what I don't know). The mackeral had more bones than a mackeral might be expected to have (perhaps a new species!). So all in all, average. The ice cream however was interesting - black coconut... tasty. We then found out the ice cream was milk free - you would not have been able to tell. So although it didn't save the meal, it was a nicer ending than we had otherwise expected. The place itself is not special to look at at, but it is functional and has an old-world charm.

The place was what I was looking for: peaceful and beautiful; a stark contrast to the bustle of the ground floor café. I was delighted to find a variety of vegan dishes being offered. I thoroughly enjoyed the mushroom and vegan cheese toastie (MLT on the menu). The salted caramel vegan ice cream was the best I have ever had. What made my experience even more pleasant was the friendly and professional service offered by Elisa. Thank you Elisa for a lovely and restful time; exactly what I needed. While waiting for my food, I played one of the games being offered as part of the Play Well programme at the Wellcome Collection. A good laugh playing a game by myself.

We wanted to meet for a small family lunch and were pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere and good value light meals - such as croque monsieur (very popular with youngsters!). Service slightly casual but adequate. Well worth considering if visiting the British Library or waiting for a train at Kings Cross - or, indeed, visiting the Collection.

The service was quick and efficient and the food amazing. I want to especially thank Edith, the person who welcomed us. The problem here was the service, and the responsibility lies with the manager(s) who seemed to have no idea at all how to organise their staff. We were there at a busy lunch time (but then, that is exactly what this place is supposed to cater for). The floor manager was all over the place, not clear in her own mind whether she was waiting at table or organising, and the wait staff were moving about in a sort of random Brownian motion. They were all perfectly polite mind you, just inefficient. The food? That was perfectly decent and not unreasonably priced. Its just that we sat there for 45 minutes before it arrived....This place needs a radical shake up of its management. Don't go there at busy times.

I always make sure to peruse the Wellcome Collection every time I'm in London, but I'd never been to the upstairs Wellcome Kitchen until this year's trip. It was late in the afternoon and I wasn't ready yet to step out into the fray. I rather fancied a good old fashioned cream tea, but dare I hope they offer such a thing? YES! I am a real scone fanatic, having tasted the best Cornwall and Devon have to offer, and I can say London is not known for good scones. But I was not disappointed. The scones were the perfect texture with a soft flake and slightly crusty on the outside, with proper clotted cream and enough jam to go around. Or—perhaps I ordered extra cream? At any rate, the server didn't bat an eye if I did. He was attentive without being obsequious. The Earl Grey tea was some of the best I've ever had. The ambiance was lovely, and it felt like I could have sat there for a good hour, resting and enjoying my treat, not feeling like I had to vacate the table. No loud music, comfortable seating, friendly service, and excellent cream tea. What more could I ask for? The Wellcome Kitchen is a welcome refuge!

We were celebrating a family birthday and were looking for food to suit all tastes. In the party were my two young grandchildren and so we needed something they would feel at home with. Right from the start when we were shown to our table we could sense that this was going to meet our expectations. We ordered a variety of nibbles and asked if the children’s food could come with our nibbles. Service was excellent. We had all chosen different things for the main course mackerel salad, lamb stew, aubergine steak and grilled hallow Q. The food was attractively presented. The lamb was tender, succulent and tasty. The salads were superb. This was food at its best. The whole experience was perfect and if you are in the area it might be worth booking a table. You will not be disappointed.

When you visit the exhibitions at the Wellcome Institute (The current Smoke and Mirrors exhibition is excellent!), go upstairs (or take the lift if you're feeling tired!) to the second floor where you will find delightful rooms called "The Wellcome Kitchen" - the name rather conjures up sweaty chefs slaving over hot stoves to prepare the food but nothing could be further from the truth. These rooms are nicely decorated with original artworks on the walls, large windows and comfortable seating, with cushions if you want therm! And no background music - just the murmur of customers chatting to each other! The staff are very pleasant and the service is prompt. I only wanted a snack so ordered a Croque Monsieur and a pot of tea. The tea arrived in a nice china pot almost at once and the dish I'd ordered shortly afterwards. It was one of the best Croque Monsieur I have had since my last visit to France last year and was served with a delicious fresh salad as a garnish. This meal came to just over £10 which I think is very reasonable given London prices for food. I shall be paying a return visit when I'm next in the area! The building itself is quite grand with a distinct feel of Art Deco in the fixtures and fittings. By the way, the unisex toilets were spotless!

Having had to cancel leaving a message on the phone two weeks before, I did not have any problem to reserve again on the day my Groupon voucher expired. Unfortunately I arrived later than it was due at 4:30, but we were very well treated by the waitresses. My daughter had to cancel again so they served us all the sandwiches and cakes and gave us two paper containers so that we could share what is left , being busy closing down at six o'clock . We did not feel pushed out rudely but always being treated with excellent manners. Although in the images the cakes and sandwiches don't seem anything out of ordinary, we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of everything. The scones, for example, were the best I have tried for a long time. The male waiter in the luminous yellow glasses attended our table; the bold colour choice did not reflect his personality at all. He completely lacked any warmth (no service with a smile) and failed miserably to place anything down on the table gently- it was a symphony of bangs and clinks! He also sighed dramatically when I had to locate him twice to ask for additional drinks. The female waiter wearing the striped jumper (perhaps the manager) had evidently just won the "Miss Grumpy 2017" pageant, and when attempting to pay the bill, she avoided all eye contact with me and just thrust the card machine in my direction without a word. We were also escorted out of the building at 6pm-sharp by a rather angry looking man! It's the LEAST Wellcome(ing) Kitchen ive ever been in.

If you have a couple of hours to spare at Euston cross the road and have a reasonably priced quality meal in much more interesting surroundings.

I like this place, a bit noisy and very open. Food is really nice, healthy and fresh, plenty for vegetarians and vegans but not only. I will be back here for lunch, just opposite Euston underground

The Wellcome Trust is a really interesting place to visit. Lots of free exhibitions and an eclectic book shop. The restaurant on the 2nd floor serves a small menu and our choice of sea bream was marginal. The fish was excellent but the vegetables were...

THERE'S NO WELCOME IN THIS KITCHEN.... I love the Wellcome Gallery. It's exhibitions are usually phenomenal and entirely free. The building architecture, permanent collections and the show we'd come to visit on this occasion "Making Nautre: How We See Animals" are all stunningly excellent. Where this venue is let down is by it's food offering. The staff on the ground floor are always seeming over-worked, even when there's barely a soul in the place. Premium priced coffees are delivered well below London Barista standards and often only barely warm. On this occasion, it was busy, queues were long and the staff seemed to be struggling worse than usual. It was for this reason my guest and I decided to ascend the stunning staircase and try the Kitchen upstairs. I discover after our visit that this is yet another Benugo run venue and may go a long way to explaining why it was so bad. When I first encountered Benugo at the BFI, I thought they were pretty good, but as they've expanded and become the main supplier for museum and art galleries, the service and quality has dropped in direct correlation to their numbers. We arrived to an empty reception desk with not a sign of a staff member anywhere. The restaurant had only a smattering of covers inside, so concluded it must be shut, but just as we were about to leave, a staff member approached us as if from nowhere (Like the shop-keeper in Mr. Benn's if you're old enough to remember that children's animation form the 70s). It was explained they were now only serving afternoon tea (we'd actually come hoping we could get a bowl of hot soup, it being winter and all) as they'd finished lunch and yet to serve dinner. We'd never visited before, so decided to give it a chance. We were shown our table and there we waited... and waited.... AND waited. Eventually, after 10 minutes, I had to physically get up walk around the restaurant to see if a Waiter/Waitress was hidden somewhere. There wasn't! And the receptionist had disappeared in exactly the way she'd arrived - by magic. Finally, a waitress did appear, who had clearly been trained by snail the pace she was going and asked us what we wanted. We ordered the Tea for 2 at £16.00 a £2 discount (or so we thought) of ordering them separately. But we were soon informed that it wasn't a discount at all, but fewer items than if ordering them separately - which felt cheap and unnecessary. My friend wasn't particularly hungry, so we stuck to the cheaper option. Our Afternoon tea eventually arrived. The Sencha tea I ordered was a wonderful blend, the crockery (whilst not being the best) certainly looked the part, but that's definitely where the pleasurable experience ended. The sandwiches were dry and the bread starting to harden. There was barely a quarter of a sandwich each for the two of us. There were five, mediocre and uninspired cakes. 5 cakes between 2 people. Really BENUGO didn't think the items for a tea for 2 should at least be divisible by 2? And to top it all, the two scones, the heartiest part of the offering by far, but again not great, came with a single jar of strawberry jam and enough (I believe it was clotted, but couldn't be sure by the taste) cream for one. So we had to ration. Afternoon tea is designed to be an explosion of tastes, little experiences to keep you going through to dinner. This was more of a school sandwich box for someone on a diet. Hugely disappointing and annoying after such a great visit to one of my favourite London Galleries. So to prevent them marring your experience, let me suggest you use the Quakers Cafe instead. The Quakers Cafe is out of the building turn right in the next building along, a minutes walk away. Part of Quakers Hall, this is a lovely healthy and ridiculously inexpensive place to eat and I'd take your custom there to avoid ruining an otherwise perfect day.
