Incredible decor with all walls plastered in movie and music memorabilia. Drink selection is ok but only craft beers when we went and no ales available.

No cask ale despite saying they do and being part of the McGrath Davies group who claim to champion it and despite having a petsonal familial connection to McGrath. Informative to note that of 26 lowest 1 star reviews, they've only bothered to respond to one. Group has obviously overextended itself at the expense of its ethos. Also went into Tapping the Admiral recently-gone massively downhill. Sad.

Took my out of town guest to Sunday roast at my 'local'. Well, it was disastrous. We ordered a lamb roast and a chicken roast. The lamb was horrible - solid with gelatinous sinews running through each piece and could not be shredded. Almost the entire meat part of the dish was left on the plate and the waiter looked at it and didn't say a word. Which tells you this must happen pretty regularly. Both roasts were drowning in very salty gravy. The Yorkshire pudding was dry and had no taste. The veg was okay but everything else was subpar. I am sure other menu items may be good - but the Sunday roasts were very disappointing.

I can't recommend this pub enough! The food is consistently amazing – every dish is full of flavour and clearly made with care. The staff are always so welcoming and attentive, making you feel right at home the moment you step in. What really sets this place apart is the uniquel style and decor – it has such a great vibe, making it the perfect spot to relax with friends or enjoy a meal. Whether you're there for a quick bite or a long evening, this pub never disappoints!

I am utterly appalled by the disgraceful and arrogant behaviour of Stephen, the bar manager at the Sir Richard Steele pub. My experience has been nothing short of a nightmare, and I feel compelled to warn others about the shocking level of customer service I received. I had booked a private function room for my 50th birthday, scheduled for Sunday, July 14th. To my absolute dismay, I received a notice just 3 DAYS PRIOR, on Thursday, July 11th at 7:41 pm, informing me that the booking time had been changed to accommodate the England vs. Spain game in the Euro Finals. This was completely unacceptable and showed a total lack of respect for my event. When I objected to this last-minute change, Stephen's response was nothing short of appalling. Instead of addressing my concerns, he sent an immediate follow-up email canceling the entire event. I was left in shock and major disappointment. Despite Stephen's assurance that a full deposit would be issued within 48 hours, I had to endure a 4-week ordeal to get my money back. My numerous emails and text messages went ignored, forcing me to go through my bank for a chargeback. This level of unprofessionalism and lack of accountability is beyond comprehension. Stephen's arrogant and deceitful behaviour ruined what should have been a joyous occasion. I strongly advise against booking any private functions at the Sir Richard Steele pub. The customer service is the worst I have ever experienced, and the manager's behaviour is both pathetic and unacceptable. Save yourself the stress and avoid this place at all costs. Horrible negative experience. 0 stars.

Stay away from booking the function room, after making the reservation and having paid a deposit of £250, 4 months in advance. 4 days before our wedding we received an email from Mr. Steve (manager) that our reservation has been cancelled due to problems with the council for complaints from neighbours about customer noises (I guess this is due to mismanagement) and that our deposit would be refunded. 7 dis after receiving our cancellation email, we decided to send another email politely asking for our refund and we receive as a kindly response "it shall be returned". 16/July/2024 after a month no refund has been given. Hot Wings were tasty, Bucket Ol' Fish came out hot and crispy. Tater tots was topped with cheese and sauce. I ordered a cheeseburger and chips. After 25 minutes i politely checked where it was, as i had to leave in another 25 mins. I was told precisely 3 minutes. I politely waited 12 or 13 mins, and the burger arrived with thw news that the chips were on the way. I explained again i had to be somewhere, and that I'd checked 12 or 13 minutes ago. The barman replied me he said 3 minutes precisely 4 minutes ago. I said i had looked at my clock. Her said so had he. His manner and tone was agressive and i politely disengaged. I don't really get it as it was necessary and spoilt my time. OThe board outside said Happy hour - £9.50 for a burger and chips, and yet i was charged £19 for the burger, chips and pint. I'd already let this go to have a relaxed moment. A shame as we live around the corner and was a convenient place to pop into.

If you don’t mind the complete absence of Cask Ale, misleading boards, but above all, one of the grumpiest and patronising service in London, I think you should give a go to this place. I tried twice my luck here but it didn’t work. I was in Belsize for an appointment and on my way to it, I notice the cool location. Few boards standing outside said “We are open”. So I decided to go back for a drink after my stuff. I had to do a wide change of route for that but when I arrived unfortunately the doors were shut and a check on Google told me that actually the place opens at 4pm! (It was still 2pm. Too early for waiting) I tried the day after full of hope. My telephone had a network issue and I needed a Wi-Fi to reset it. As soon as I was in I noticed that the Cask Ale pump I had spotted on an online picture was actually just a souvenir from the golden age. When I asked to the guy after the bar for a confirmation, he ‘half’ looked and me and said just “NO”. I wanted to stay (I had diverted my route for the second time after all). Looking for something decent to drink among the usual predictive stock, I found a Guinness. I still needed a Wi-Fi though. I asked to the grumpy guy behind the bar about it and guess the answer “NO”. No look at all this time. I opened my mobile. Checked the network available. Saw the ‘Sir Richard Steel guest’ Wi-Fi, thanked Mr Grumpy and left. There was a sing in the pizza place in Italy where I used to work when I was a teenager:”Se non sapete sorridere, non aprite un locale”. Enjoy the translation.

5th week in a row having their Sunday lunch. Really beautiful, tasty food, with large portions — and very reasonably priced. Staff are super friendly and helpful. The Steeles is now privately owned by a wonderful chap named Steve, and he's making a real go of it. EDIT: June 2022 — The Steeles has now been sold to a small chain, and has a new manager, who is professional and friends. Went for Sunday lunch again, and it was still really good — one of the best in the area. This pub is cozy and well-run, but for some reason is not just attracting the locals at the moment; many other pubs around are packed for Sunday lunch, and some you even have to book one or two weeks in advance! So if you want a great roast, this is your place. EDIT: September 2023 — The Steeles is now back with its original owner from a few years ago. So the place is looking like its old self again, and all the corporate blandness has gone. Yet another fab Sunday roast for just £16.50 — see the photo.

The Sir Richard Steele pub on Haverstock hill is interesting to say the least. A big tidy wooden floored pub with a peninsular bar occupying the centre of the premises, never too far to walk when drink is needed. No cask ales on my visit although there is one pump with the clip reversed so maybe sometimes. There are some lovely architectural and decorative features including the stained glass window, the Batman and Robin standard lamps on the stairs and a dark painted bacchanalian ceiling. It’s great to be back in the ‘old’ Steeles. Sitting here with a pint listening to the voices and laughter of a busy pub. Sooo different to the few times I visited here over the last years. Welcome back…

Glad to see the place back to its former glory under old management, all the team super friendly and the nibbles we were treated to on new opening were amazing, can't wait to go back for a roast!

Superb. Delicious sushi - take from the belt or order. Very fresh, tasty with a big selection. A bonus was the free wires-less charging for phones where you eat. Lovely helpful staff.
