I was there for a holiday in the hotel next door and it was a great 3 evenings, great food and drinks, super tasty and cozy

Had a meal here tonight and expected more. Had pie and gravy was like tasteless water for the gravey, pie was just ok on flavour also had chicken croquettes with no jalapeño but asked for non spicy dressing and got nothing but 2 very small coquettes with a small green sprigs, honestly not worth the money. Coquettes were nice flavour but value for money thumbs down. A little disappointing and won’t be back for a meal while we are staying at the royal national hotel which is part of the complex

I've been to this pub occasionally for a few years, and have just visited for the first time following the recent massive refurbishment. There's a really nice outside area round the back with a couple of TVs that they show sports on. We sometimes went up to the bar to order, but there were also plenty of staff on hand who were also coming round the tables to take orders. I tried a couple of cocktails, really enjoyed the passion fruit martini but the one I recommend is the margarita. I was amazed by how nice it was, I ended up having four over the course of the night (including one spicy margarita, which isn't on the menu but the staff were happy to make upon request - and the spice was real, could only take one sip at a time!). All cocktails are £10.50, pretty standard for London. A few vegan options on the food menu, enjoyed both the cauli wings and the hummus and pita which I thought was presented well. Bit disappointed that the vegan burger option is falafel, I'd be more likely to order if it was fake meat. This place is next to the Royal National Hotel, and a very short walk from Russell Square tube station. Reading some other reviews, I've seen a couple of people moaning about having to pay at the time you order. Yes, and? It's a pub and that's normal from my experience.

Came in last night. I was served by Angelica (who is the manager I believe) and her knowledge of the menu was exceptional. She pointed out the food options available for me. It can be awkward asking about halal options in a place that primarily sells alcohol but she was a delight. All other staff were polite and efficent. Food came quickly and genuinely impressed about the place!

Un buen restaurante en el que se puede tanto almorzar como cenar. Metido en el hotel, para los huéspedes genial. Personal muy amable, falta de idiomas, pero nos tocó un camarero que sabía algo y nos ayudó. La comida estaba buenísima, variada, sobretodo las hamburguesa.Llegó muy rápido. Muy recomendable.

We were a bit attracted by the outside ambience and it was quite ok for a pub. However, we were less impressed by the food: two meals for 15 pounds were not good. Hot dishes that were cold. SMALL portions and service very poor. NEVER go there again!!!

Don't waste your time or money on this place. Service was horrible, bar tenders played on their phones the whole time.

Everything is good except the food

Nog gezellig om te zitten, bediening is ok zolang je niets extra vraagt. De vis van de fish and chips was niet eetbaar. De vis rook en smaakte verschrikkelijk slecht, modderig. Toen ik dit signaleerde, zeiden ze dat er niets mis mee was. Je moet er op voorhand betalen dus geen terugbetaling en ook geen andere tegemoetkoming.

Unfortunately the food wasn't that good. My burger was very dry. But you can definitely come here to drink, because the location is actually very good.

Very good burger, with sourdough bread and 2 meats. On the outside the place is normal, on the inside it feels more like a London pub. The service was slow at first to serve but fast to deliver. I would return if I want to eat delicious and fast.

Atmosphere is very young and electric especially when the Euros 2024 is on.

The music was too loud. Asked to have it turned down, they did not. We were excited to get fish and chips. The fish tasted like greasy Kentucky Fried chicken, heavily coated, and small for the $17.50 pounds. Four of us ordered this with beers and thought the same about the fish and chip meal. Don't waste your money. However, it is very close to our hotel.

Super expensive for the quality !!!!!!! Very dissapointed +28£ for a little steak with nerves. Same for the salad !!

I understand that they have reopened after being closed for a while. Very good for having a few beers (they have 7 or 8 different brands) and also for dinner. Very good burgers.

Good for a beer, a fish… great food. Grade 10.

A half decent little pub filled with spaced out largely single-party tables. They had a cider on tap, and sport on the TV, which is my bare minimum for a pub. The food was half decent, I’ve definitely had worse burgers, though this was pretty meh. The olives were ok as well.

Good pub to use if you are staying in any of The Imperial group of hotels in Bloomsbury. Nice courtyard with outdoor TV for sports fans (or smokers). Food is served and the fish and chips I had were excellent.

The passion fruit martini and the chicken tikka masala are STANDOUTS and PHENOMENAL. We ate and drank here twice! We could have eaten here every single night if we didn’t already have other reservations. The staff was so kind and accommodating to us. We were hotel guests and loved the pub playing the soccer matches! It’s nicely decorated for the holidays and was so convenient. If we stay in the area again we’d definitely come back!

Very quiet 4pm and security very intrusive

Etablissement vraiiiiiiiment mauvais, certes nous etions une table de 8 mais on a demandé pour manger a l'intérieur en consommemant des boissons en attendant, si on ne les relances pas 5 fois ils s'en foutent ! On decide de manger dehors car l'attente est trop longue, on a l'impression de les embêter. On reclame encore pour commander, les 2 etoiles sont pour les plats qui ont le merite d'être pas mal. Mais un bug survient a la commande, nous avons encore attendu 45 minutes !!! Et toujours les serveurs qui s'en foutent .... Mais nous sommes la pour payer a l'avance comme ca on ne part pas ! Resultat c'est a fuir !!!!

The food was delicious but as it is a pub it was very noisy. You can also watch live football games, which my husband particularly liked.

I only had a drink here as was staying in Royal National and met friends to head out. Not a place I'd go to out of my way for a drink. Far too crowded. However it was decent pint (almost £7!) and of course handy where it is. Thats it really.

Should have heeded the bad reviews and skipped this place, but it was close to the hotel. Hardly any patrons, make you pay when you order. The food was on the bad side of mediocre. The drink was the only ok part of the experience.

Worst pierce of chewy rubber, someone has ever served me. And they had the audacity to call it Sirloin. Never eat here. Its disgusting.

The lady could tell us that the pub would be close in 20 min. Instead we bought heavy overpriced drinks, which were basically a lot of ice with nothing in it. They turned the music of and start cleaning. Very bad experience there a better options around the corner!!

I was here 10years ago and loved it so much i came back. It was a proper English pub back then. Sadly now it is not the same and appears under new management. There is alot a lighting now that takes away from that English pub feel. I asked for a pitcher of pimms and the bar staff did not know what a pitcher was (how is that possible) and further would only serve a glass of pimms. Food was good. No longer an authentic pub. Sad.

Only card payment which was annoying when I had English Sterling purchased before leaving Ireland

Soggiornando al Royal National Hotel siamo andati a far visita a questo pub una sera quando eravamo di ritorno e stanchi. Il pub praticamente fa parte quasi dell’hotel ma non mi ha fatto impazzire , innanzitutto è più caro di altri pub di Londra , hamburger troppo cotti , servizio normale.

La comida está bien, sin embargo, la limpieza no es tan buena. La mesa en la que nos tocó sentarnos estaba pegajosa y el tiempo de espera de atención fue un poco largo.

Really loved the vibe here. Was hot yesterday so very busy but staff were doing a wonderful job.. Lovely beer garden with TVs outside to watch the rugby. Spoke to a girl behind the bar and she was just excellent. Really took her time and explained the cocktail menu to me, even though it was really busy. Her and the boy behind the bar were very speedy. Didnt try the food as it was too warm to eat anyhting, but it looked nice as it was coming out.

When this place is buzzing its awesome. Great outside seating arrangements and staple enlgish food, beers reasonably prices no idea what happened to my original review but I love this pub so much. A personal fave of mines around this side of London.

This is not a British pub, despite its name. It's a hotel bar. It is linked to the largest hotel in London (the Royal National) and therefore caters for hordes of tourists. Coach-loads, in fact. Many of whom are on school trips (the hotel is a 'budget hotel'). It's expensive, utilitarian and not very clean. Going to the toilets (for what they are; no cubicles in the gents and the disabled was blocked with s*it) is a mission past beer-barrels and whatnot. They've got plenty of staff (it's table service - but go up to the bar as a normal person would and the service is quicker!) but they all seem more interested in gossiping to each other than customer service. On the plus-side (yes, there is one) there is a decently-sized outside seating space in the courtyard of the hotel. There are screens (TV and sports). There a decent selection of drinks but, as I said, expensive for what it is. I've not tried the food, but I suspect it's normal pub fare. The doors are promptly locked before 11pm (when it closes), even though some of our party were still inside (using the toilets before leaving), leading to an unnecessary faff with keys to let them back out. It's an odd place. And there are plenty of (much) better pubs in the area (that's another plus: the location) where I'd rather go.

The service is really poor. I have to pay by order(before I eat and drink). For service we have to look for someone look at us. Otherwise they forget us. For that we have to pay 10% service fees. This is without asking us. Wired.

Popped into this establishment for a beer in passing,wish i hadn't. 1 Becks Vier £5.95 1 Estrella £6.90 1 Estrella £6.90 Total £21.72 Service with a smile does not apply in this place. The staff all look scared to interact with the customers which is probably something to do with the manager walking around like Miss Trunchball keeping an eye on them all. No atmosphere at all. Avoid and take yourself to a proper London pub not this place posing as one!

We only had drinks, so I don't know about the food. The fish and chips looked excellent. The burger did not for the price. Service was great once you got hold of some, but they all spent most of the time talking to each other.

Stopped off here for a drink as we were staying at the adjoining hotel. It was a bit of a rip off, £15 for two drinks, which was a shame as it was a nice bar and the staff were pleasant.

Basically, it's a Spoons but very overpriced. Rumour is they upped the prices due to the market in the adjoining hotel, either way a pint cost more than advertised in the menu.

The waitress was good, but the calamari was red not white, even tho it was fried but it should be still white. We let the waitress know about the calamari was not great and soo we end up not eating it.

The waitress Ioana provided the most amazing service. She remembered my drink order even though they were absolutely slammed. She was incredibly friendly and attentive. Will continue to return due to her attention to detail.

Baarin, pubin ja ravintolan yhdistelmä. Melko persoonaton. Hotellin sisäpihalla tämän paikan iso terassi. Ruoka perusbaariruokaa, juomat sitä samaa. Sapuskassa ei mitään makukikkailua, ihan perus-wingsejä. Ruokalistalla lupasivat viisi siipeä, lautasella oli kuusi. Nopea palvelu vaikka porukkaa oli sisällä ja ulkona paljon. Ei ihan halvimmasta päästä.

Zuerst mussten wir 15 Min. auf die Bedienung warten. Kaffee gab es keinen oder wir sollten uns auf die Terrasse setzen. Wir bestellten Fisch und ein Steak . Der Fisch war zufriedenstellend, das Steak sollte medium sein war aber durchgebraten und zäh. Hinter der Bartheke eine junge Frau die sich mehrfach die Haare öffnete um sie wieder neu, mit ihren Fingern, zu gestalten. Sehr hygienisch. Einmal und nie wieder. MC Donalds ist dann besser.

The manager would have to be one of the most disrespectful managers you’ll ever see. I asked for the manager to switch from the music to the commentary as the last day of the Bundesliga title was on. He goes “no one is watching it.” The whole pub was watching it and a few others wanted it switched to the commentary. Had to watch a whole game with garbage music and no commentary.

When we arrived, it was crowed, but waiter tried to find a place quickly. When we had a place, I wanted to order beer, but not able to make my choice, so I asked advices to waiter, who propose me to taste in order to let me decide. So good place to go with waiters who are really taking care of the customers.

Linked to hotel, expensive beer, sticky tables and that faint whiff of spilled beer. On the plus sid e they have Camden IPA.

Decided to try here despite the reviews as it was convenient. In hindsight should have took heed to the reviews and not bothered. Food was ok but my order was wrong. Staff don’t seem to want to be there and are very poor and are not thankful for the custom. No atmosphere inside and very overpriced. Best to avoid.

Food was good but overpriced and there's a 10% discretionary surcharge added to your bill, You're expected to read the fine print at the bottom of the menu. Don't expect great service either, seems no one's taught them to smile. Don't bother with this place.
