My wife & a I are both vegetarian. We selected nut roasts from the menu. However, were very disappointed with what we got. We had two large slices each. An excessive amount. They were very dense, with not much flavour. Probably just been heated up in a microwave oven? Only ate half of it. Some of the roast potatoes had very tough skins. Could only eat the insides of those. All in all very poor value meals.

I visit the pub with my friends for a quick drink. Staff are so friendly and accommodating and easy to talk to. The place is immaculate. Every table is clean and toilets clean. I was served by jasmine who was amazing! Talkative and funny. She greeted us and we felt so welcomed by her, I would 100% recommend this pub to anyone in the area and surrounding areas. It’s in an amazing area and the beer garden is amazing.

Good - Inexpensive - Mains and Desert £13.90 - We all had Roast Beef - very good and plenty of it - for the price, i can understand why you dont get a yorkshire. - Pleasant staff - Great Beer - Desert was lovely - Apple Crumble with Custard/Profiteroles. Not so Good Seemed to lack atmosphere and whilst it was not very busy, we had seemed to have been seated in a great table in a bay window (but sadly located next to the womans toilets) - may a bit of re-arranging could be done. Overall though, its a good place to eat (have been twice with the parents) and we would go again.

Visited this pub with a friend for lunch. Was served by a very grumpy sarcastic waitress..she asked us what we would like to drink, we asked her if they had any of the luscombe soft drinks she looked at me and spoke to me very sarcastically, I then asked her if they sold the heron valley drinks and again she made a big thing of it..It would be nice if this pub supported local drink companies...and customers should be treated with respect..we treated her with respect.. I ordered steak and kidney pudding...i dont think it was homemade and I think it had been microwaved as the lid of the pudding was solid from where it had been in the microwave too long. We visit this pub a lot but this time it was very disappointing and I think it is not so good as it use to be...such a shame..

Nice classic English Pub, serving some local beers & ciders, with a good selection of pub classics on the food menu, what more do you need. It can get busy, so if you want to eat possibly best to book.

Not Welcome at all. the restaurant was called in advance to see if they had disabled toilets.., my disabled grandad is an ATK amputee, hisself and other family went to eat their under the impression he could be able to go to the bathroom without struggle. when the time came, the family realised there was no disabled toilets, my grandad had to try and use a standard bathroom but all did not go to plan. by the end of it my grandad was very upset as well as angry that the staff had lied about having disabled access. when the issue was brought to the OWNERS attention, they themselves proceeded to lie about their own position in the establishment, claiming to just be a FOH worker. no apology. i have read some reviews before writing this to notice that there are more complaints about not having accessible toilets for disabled people. in this day it is an absolute joke and people who are unfortunately disabled shouldn’t have to limit where they can go to eat because a restaurant can’t tend to their RIGHTS. or they get lied to. PLEASE START TELLING YOUR CUSTOMERS YOU DO NOT HAVE DISABLED ACCESS!!! IT IS NOT FAIR!

When this restaurant first opened it prided itself on its good cooking and variety. The proprietors claimed to be trained chefs. There was a good variety of choice with very good salads to accompany the meal. As a vegetarian it was good to have a varied selection. Now, there is just a choice of curry or two other dishes, if they are actually available. This choice of curry has become a popular option on pub menus, but it shows a lack of imagination or consideration. Last niggt I ended up with singed nut roast ( a very tired option) and conventional vegetables instead of something tastier with salad. There is normally a vegetable lasagne, but they had not bothered to make any. A very limited and dull selection. They also started out offering old fashioned, but fun deserts such as peach melba and banana split. Not any more!! A shame that they no longer make the effort to inspire and attract. The Welcome Stranger has become the ' I can't be bothered.'

Pub was empty but still had an hour and 10 minute wait for our food ..roast leg of lamb was sliced very thinly and fried, very tough and crispy is an understatement, over cooked frozen veg to the point of being sloppy. Staff not welcoming and just went through the motions of the job .. no chat and certainly no manners, Will not be returning..

Very busy on arrival. We placed our order after a few minutes and then waited for over an hour for our starters to arrive which were very nice. I had to enquire at the bar where our food was as the table next to us who arrived after us ordered and finished their food prior to ours staters. After 1 hour 25mins our mains arrived. My leg of lamb was in fact roast lamb but along with my wife’s turkey was very tasty. It was our wedding anniversary which was spoiled by such an unacceptable wait. The landlady did take 20% off but still not good. We are local and will not be eating there again. What a shame as the food was good.

Waitresses had no time for us and seemed to think a tiny sachet of salt was enough between 3 people and one sachet of the sauce we didnt want was sufficient and when asked for others was met with a huffy mutter and they never came. Food huge portions as usual, quantity rather than quality and no change to the tired menu that's being following the owner from pub to pub for years, keep some favourites but a change please. even the specials are the same. very dissapointing

I panicked a bit when i saw the size of the plate, but being a bloke I managed to tuck away most of the meat, roast potatoes and sofa-sized yorkshire pudding. We've been here twice for lunch now after my wife did some work in Heathfield. Each time it was excellent. Sat by the window with a lovely view over the valley. i particularly like the boards showing where their source their food and drinks from, and was very pleased to note a lot comes from close by (Bovey Tracey, Newton Abbot, etc). The beer is kept very well and the food is simply superb. Today my wife and I both had beef stroganoff which was cooked to perfection and very tasty (could cut the beef with your fork but it still had a wonderful taste and 'bite'). For dessert I had spiced apple crumble and custard which, again, was fabulous. My wife has a warm chocolate cake almost wore the plate to the enamel so I'm guessing that was good too.Two very nice pints on Teignworthy ale, a local apple juice and for all that the bill was £42 which I think is just right. We've been twice and we'll continue to go back. It really is very good.

The tables had been spaced out for social distancing purposes but it wasn't explained whether it was table service or order at the bar. We decided to order at the bar. Food took over an hour to arrive. When we were requesting for additional drinks etc, the waitress was stood right next to my husband (less than a foot away) to take the orders.Made me fell uncomfortable at times. The dining area was extremely hot and no windows were open to allow a breeze through. Food portions were too big to the point where you try to cut the food up and the food falls off the plate. Drinks order was incomplete and we ordered a drink 3 times before it arrive and then they tried to charge for them! Not the best experience I've had but not the worst.

As a group of 7 in these Covid times, we were pleased to find somewhere last minute able to accommodate us with a table for a Sunday roast, early on a Sunday evening. The roast dinners were amazing VFM (we went large) and our waitress Maddie was a joy with great communication, banter, humour and some very helpful tips regarding the local area.

We went for a meal for my husbands 81st birthday,we arrived at 7-30 our starter was a 8-15 very nice, but we were not served our main meal until 9-40 which was so long we asked several times & was told it was coming,my husband & I had the bbq chicken when it came it looked super but the chicken was so overcooked we could not eat it it was so dry,the salad was good,I was so disappointed because I had this meal last time we were there & it was the best ever,I think they left it to long in the oven & also to wait nearly 80 minutes for it too come was unaceptable I would have sent it back & my husbands but my son was treating us & I did not want to seem ungrateful,we had a sweet which was lovely, they should have noticed in the kitchen that the chickens were not eaten, so it was not a good birthday treat after all.

...let down by the 'Vegan Roast'.Dining out with friends is always a pleasure. The Welcome Stranger is a local eatery that has had some major funds spent on it to transform it from its dowdy roadside Image. The reviews are pretty good so it was with other reviews in mind that we joined friends for a 'catch up' Sunday Lunch. For starters I chose the deep fried potato skins which arrived with a selection of dips and the dark caramelised skins were very nice and the selection of dips provided a nice balance of flavours. Thus enthused I was then ready for the main.Oh Dear!Nut Cutlet really? Some packet offering barely cooked and as flavour filled as tissue Papier-mâché.Six cubes of green stuff served in a modest sized but tough yorkshire (possible reheated from frozen) and gravy, garnished with some boiled Onion Rings.Guys this was an appalling offering to come out of your kitchen.I hardly worthy of the your reputation. I was expecting something along the line of a home-made chestnut stuffing with some toasted nuts not this pap.If you are proud of providing this level of vegan food then you really need to learn more about vegan food. Just mixing a packet of powder with water and slamming it in the oven really?Serving it to a guest at £10.25 is an insult, 25p would be over charging! You've really let yourselves down in letting this past the kitchen door.It was a plate of food fit only for the kitchen bin.The selection of veg it was served with were ideal, the sad under-cooked but warm carrots were the only other poor mark. Under cooked veg is so last year Brian Turner the chef that instigated this vogue has admitted that he and many other chefs had got it very, very, wrong.Cauliflower cheese is usually an uncooked watery mess but that served to us was at the peak of it's cooking a hint of bite and a nice cheesy sauce it was spot on!For Dessert I chose Raspberry Sorbet and a generous portion arrived and it was wonderfully fruity and a joy to consume. So overall to others who'd like to have a Vegan Sunday Roast when eating out with friends I would suggest avoiding the Welcome Stranger; until they up their approach to getting this side of their menu. The roast meats were all well presented and properly roasted.I would call again but I would ask to the Vegan Roast before I ordered it. I have no doubt that the other Vegan offerings are up to snuff but the Vegan Roast needs a LOT of work to make it worth plating.

We popped in for a drink on Sunday afternoon . Such a lovely place so booked for a meal for the Tuesday evening. It was amazing. The steak melted in your mouth & although they were very busy, nothing was too much trouble. 100%+ recommend.

First night out since lock down, was a little apprehensive, but all was good. Hand sanitizers at front door, shown to table and offered drinks regularly. Food and service superb. Portions are huge and really good value for money.

Attended today with a dozen or so colleagues for a leaving do. Food was lovely - huge portions, and both the size and quality were worth the price - and everybody really enjoyed it. Service was really nice. All of the food came out together which was nice considering the size of our party.Would definitely recommend, and would consider returning too. This is a big endorsement for me considering I don't go out often.

Poor. Limited light lunch choices. Gluten free choice dreadful. If felt cold and unfriendly save for our waitress.

Good choice of food delivered quickly to table once ordered. Even better, tasty and good size portions. We all had different starters and mains and none of us had any complaints. Would definitely recommend to anyone local or passers by. Dogs welcome, play area outside and lots of parking.

We have visited this place a few times now and every time have tried different dishes off the menu and each one has been very tasty and huge portions, the staff are very polite and helpful even seeing if the kitchen could do us different veg than one of ours meals came with, fair play the kitchen did. Try the chocolate mousse for dessert, just heavenly, our favourite.

It is always an enjoyable experience coming to No Limits in Newton Abbot (Devon). I have food allergies and they have a fabulous menu that can cater for so many whether that be allergies, coeliacs or vegan. I really like their ‘pay it forward’ scheme which helps provide food and drinks for people who are having a difficult time. Most importantly, it is brilliant that they are providing opportunities for people with various needs and it’s a pleasure to be served by such enthusiastic and happy staff :-)

If you go to Bovey Tracey a visit to Old cottage tea shop is a must. What an absolutely delightful tea room. Old fashioned charm at its best. Good old fashioned menu. It's like having lunch at Grandma's. An absolute must visit.

A lovely pub with friendly staff and good food, served swiftly and efficiently. We had been on a long uphill walk to get there, and were very glad to be able to sit at a window table and look at the wonderful view. Will definitely return when we are in the area again. There was a huge log fire in the other room which would be great to sit near on a cold winter day.
