Welcome Home Inn in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

I don’t get back home from up country often and it's a treat to go out for a proper pub dinner with family. We had a lovely Friday evening with excellent food, be aware it’s not waitress service and you order at the bar. Also it’s popular and it’s worth making a booking. We’d had two of the boneless BBQ beef, the fish cakes and the 1/2 chicken and ribs. All perfectly cooked and handsome serving sizes. This is proper Cornish cooking, simple and tasty food with Kittow’s the butcher quality meats. The chips were swapped for mash no problem. Stokes quality condiments if needed. All meals arrived at the same time, I couldn’t fault anything at all about our meal and we all had a lovely evening in a traditional real Cornish pub. The St Austell HSD was faultless too. The ladies liked their wine. Highly recommended for taste and value, the only thing missing was a real fire blazing in the hearth as it was a wet and windy evening! A fantastic chef who really knows what they’re doing, and efficient friendly service. All the staff should be recognised for doing a great job. The WH is highly recommended to one and all! Fantastic food & Drinks we visited here while we were staying at par sands , the menu was great catered for all tastes as were the drinks on offer. Very dog friendly. All the staff and regulars made you feel welcome. All at a very reasonable price the food was fresh and all home cooked . I would recommend to anyone visiting the area 👍🏻

Been coming to this pub for a few months now at different times. The Sunday Roast here is the best roast I have had for a long time. Its a great plateful of delicious home made food at a reasonable price. The service is quick and everyone is friendly. Great pub.. We are local people and have a holiday home near by . We are so pleased we went for lunch one day at this pub and loved it so much we will be coming to it regularly from now on.. 😀

Lovely evening in a old style local pub, staff were polite, food was plentily, good quality, and reasonably priced, highly recommended, I had the fish basket from the specials board, very well cooked and tasty, wife has rump steak, with mountain of chips. We'll be back

We have just moved into St Blazey, had no experience of the pubs, chose The Welcome inn from the reviews and were not disappointed. Staff were friendly and food was a great price and tasted great. We will be back. Thank you Paul. Paula & Kieran Allen

Went in for drinks while the wife took the kids to the beach, was a great locals pub. jade behind the bar was great. Nice and friendly something you want for a local pub. The korev was really nice will come back when next on holiday.

We always visit multiple times when we stay nearby - delicious food HUGE portions and very reasonably priced. Staff lovely and friendly would 100% recommend

Lovely beer garden at the back and very friendly helpful staff. Sorry to say the food is terrible, all the meat was dry and overcooked.

Ken and Sue are so welcoming and the food is great value. Would highly recommend, especially if you want good honest pub grub and leave with a full tummy@

Came here whilst on holiday in cornwall, small pub but nice selection of local beers and ciders. Had a nice few pints of rattler in the very spacious and lovely beer garden out back, with a small park for if you had kids. The bar man was friendly and hospitable and was fairly busy at the bar, and he took time to acknowledge he'd be with us shortly. We didn't have food, but it looked pretty well priced. There are plenty of upcoming events on the events board. Will definitely come here again for food and more drinks if we come down here again.

Lovely pub in a lovely street. Close to the beach. Excellent beer, lovely garden, great menu too although we didn't order food. Look forward to returning soon.

Absolute amazing food! 2nd time down this way from up north and we have visited 3 times in a week! We was made to feel welcome every time, the food and menu was spot on and reasonably priced, definitely one of the best pubs for food we have visited, would highly recommend but I would advise booking as last food orders is 7.45pm. “A hidden gem” thanks for the visits and will be coming again A****

Staying in the local area, arrived at 7.45pm and we was very welcomed in getting the last minute spot for food. Excellent service, very friendly pub.- we was invited to play cards which my son enjoyed. Would definitely visit and recommend. Food was delicious and excellent value.

We stayed in Par Sands Holiday Park but were so glad we found The Welcome Home Inn. We stopped by for an afternoon pint and was greeted by a very friendly young girl behind the bar who recommended the evening menu which we came back for and thoroughly enjoyed, in fact we came back the following night and would have again for the rest if the week if we didn't have to go back home. Cannot recommend this lovely pub highly enough. The beer garden too is lovely. Thank you TWHI.

A nice local pub with reasonable food, seating and garden........ But the coffee is too much.....it's a push button machine and three pound fifty for a cup....... We enjoyed our meal but small things like overcharging for coffee put you off returning.....

We stay at Par Beach every 4-6 weeks. The Welcome Home Inn does exactly what it says. Ken, Sue and the whole team make us so welcome every time and the place feels like home. There is no better combination of atmosphere, food, drink and dog friendliness in the area, in our experience. Sunday roast is outstanding value and Wednesday night Bingo is great fun. Coming down again this week and already booked two Sunday roasts and two Bingo nights! Can’t wait!

I'm staying in Par for 10 days and popped into this boozer for supper and a pint my first night. The food was amazingly good but even better was the company. It usually takes a few visits to a new pub for the regulars to engage with me, but I stayed well beyond my two pints and a double gin limit and chatted for hours. It's become my regular spot for my short stay and I'm going to miss it greatly when I go. The Welcome Home Inn is now my gold standard for British pubs. DILLY DILLY!!!

Visited last night once again for steak night, £35:00 for two 10oz steaks & a decent bottle of wine, everything cooked to perfection amazing value & they live up to the name you are made to feel very Welcome including our Springer Spaniel, Betty, with dog treats on the bar. This place is a little Jem all praise to Ken, Sue & their lovely team. They have a great menu & a specials board too that is extensive but not expensive, great value all round, there bears are well kept & a hidden Jem is the fully enclosed beautifully kept bear garden, with a child's play area, to the rear. Booking ahead is recommended,due to the popularity, but if its spur of the moment then they will try their best to accommodate if at all possible. My wife & I eat out quite a lot & this is by far our favourite place, what more can I say, long may it continue & a big thank you to all at The Welcome Home Inn 👌 All the best Graham Beth & Betty 🐶

Quite a local busy Public House in Par. It was quite busy with local people. Did not eat here so it would not be fair to comment on food. It was clean with a good atmosphere.

Been here a million times and will come a million more, the nicest friendliest place in the world, food is amazing the team are always helpful no matter what day or what time this is the best pub in the UK, always something happening and always made to feel welcome.

Lovely local pub. Popped in for dinner during a recent trip. Good portion size and well cooked. Staff member was friendly and would return if in the area.

Staff were brilliant, can't fault them at all. We all had different roasts for Mother's Day, the turkey had a strange texture, but everything tasted good. Plenty of veg selection, 7 veg with the meal! Mashed parsnips had a strange taste, Iike there was mustard in there, but when asked, the staff simply said it was parsnip. Could've done with a couple of extra roast potatoes, but I get that every thing is so tight these days. Great dessert choices. The prices reflect the current market, and are pretty reasonable.

Went for a birthday meal tonight for my daughter, everything from start to finish was excellent, the atmosphere and staff were great, the food ...large portions and really tasty, even though we had to order from the bar they were right there , no waiting. My daught has food intolerances and they catered for her she was so happy. We'll definitely be going back

A week getaway in Cornwall and we came across this dog friendly place. No faults. Service was friendly, food was brilliant (bacon cooked to perfection), big portions for what you pay. Definitely recommend if your passing through. Also beer garden is a must when the sun is shining :)

Always come here for the best Sunday roast in Cornwall, loads of super veggies, all really tasty and cooked well. Large portion size for the regular roast - go for a "large" only if you're feeling brave!

Must have been having an off night - food was not good, steak very tough, red wine was served cold, and noisy man at the bar (obviously a regular) using bad language - made us feel very uncomfortable. Think he had too much too drink but was only 6.30pm so think he should have been told to keep the noise down and his language. Not a nice environment when going out for dinner. Won't be returning

Called in for an evening meal whilst staying in a local hotel. Not the most eye catching of places, but what it lacks in appearance it certainly makes up for in value for money & friendly helpful staff. We opted for liver & mash and chicken tagine, both from the specials board, the food was hot, very tasty and served promptly, along with drinks the total cost was £30. Very small car park at the front & parking also available in the street outside. Definitely worth a visit.

Excellent local pub with great service and lovely food. We had an early family dinner and were delighted with everything.

There was 6 adults and 2 children. Was advised no seats inside as all booked. Advised we could sit in the garden. Was also told if we wanted food there was only roast dinner if we waited one hour, so we agreed. On ordering the 6 roast dinners we were advised there was only roast turkey. So we said OK. One hour later as stated the roast turned up unfortunately all 6 roast dinners consisted of sliced packet turkey, very thin and definately not roasted. A shame as the vegatsbles were OK. If we had been told that there was no roast meat and the chef was going to open thinly sliced sandwich turkey perhaps that would of been a more honest approach from this pub.

We have been staying at Par Sands this week so visited Welcome Home Inn twice this week with some friends ,absolutely top food ,really good value and their chicken skewers were so yummy we had them twice,brilliant portions and a special mention to the young waitress who was super friendly and helpul for recommending dishes and making the visit fun . We are booking to to visit again next year so wil definately be coming back here ,wish there were more places like this .

Visiting friends in Par visiting this pub is always a very good experience. Went for a quiz night and card bingo night. On both occasions the pub was packed which helped to create a vibrant and fun atmosphere. We also had lunch and evening meals there, large portions, served hot and very tasty. Very good value for money. The garden area is well kept and buildings maintained, ideal for outside dining and drinking when the weather permits. Kenny and Sue, the tenants, have great staff who have clearly been well trained. Watching the staff in action on a busy night working as a well oiled machine is a delight to observe. The pub is very popular with local residents and holiday visitors blending together well to create at all times a welcoming environment in which to eat and drink. I suggest it is best to book a table for meals at both lunchtimes and evenings on all days of the week to avoid disappointment. A proper community pub that supports local charities with various events. A must visit when in the Par area.

Second time we've been here in last couple of years. Both times we just walked in. Most of the tables were reserved. On both occasions they fitted us in. This pub is a busy local which has a lovely feel. The staff are very happy and there appears to be a family atmosphere there amongst staff. The food is great. Excellent value. Big big portions. We had a burger, chilli, pint of Rattler and pint of Tribute and a big bag of onion rings. £26! Great value.

Really delicious food and very reasonably priced - sat in the garden which is nicely set out and was pleasant to eat in. Would happily eat here again when I'm in Par again. Would heartily recommend this place.

We walked in with no reservation. Food was fantastic value for money. Lovely beer garden. Lovely young lady served us. We would certainly return.

What a great local pub. Came for a bite to eat on Saturday after the disappointing cancellation of the Shanty festival. Pre booked and needed to as all the tables were taken. Menu was fine , but the specials board was lovely. Chose the Steak and Kidney Pudding which was perfect. Loads of Gravy and chips and very, very filling. This really was perfect pub food, not fancy but just decently priced well cooked grub. Pub itself was lovely, we were made to feel very welcome( sorry, no pun intended) with all of the staff really friendly and helpful. Well done the Welcome Home, keep it going.

Nice staff and a gorgeous pint of Guinness

We visited here for lunch. Warm welcome. Had our dog with us, we could sit where we liked. Service very good. Husbands beer was excellent as was my Carlsberg Export. The food was proper home cooked food. We have visited before and we will certainly return.

Found this place on Google map and thank God we did, the meal was tasty at an affordable price. And the young lady that attended to us was very nice and polite.

Friendly old school pub with top notch beer, top food and top service. Didn’t book but they accommodated me and were above helpful. Would definitely recommend. Not enough classic pubs like this that do things really well.

Unfortunately I can't say anything about the food. We arrived at 5:45 p.m., the place half empty. Apparently everything is reserved. Even the tables that didn't have a reserved sign. Either they didn't want to go, or because we were tourists, or because we had our disabled son with us. We weren't even offered a table outside. Or just said sorry. Completely untypical for Cornwall. It hasn't happened to us in 30 years!

The very UNwelcome Home Inn! Was staying nearby for a weeks holiday. Not many pubs within walking distance and we had tried the other already. Sat in the garden (which is nice) as the inside abit dingy. Bought our drinks and we’re deciding about food. Once done ordered at the bar and told they wouldn’t serve a table of 10 people meals as the group too large. Didn’t see any signs saying this. Said we could have 6 meals maximum. So again after much discussion 4 of us decided we wouldn’t eat (not ideal as breakfast was our last meal and this was now 18.30). We then decided as a compromise we could order 6 pizzas and all share. Great solution. Go to the bar and told we can’t have 6 pizzas as they aren’t sharing pizzas. It wasn’t busy either. We were the only party in the garden. If a chef cannot cope with 10 covers then either explain or offer a solution (for example 1/2 of us would have waited or our meals if told that was the issue but we weren’t, just felt like we were being a pain. We weren’t being rowdy and 1/2 the party were locals). Considering it’s a cost of living crisis and eating out is now bit of a luxury I wouldn’t expect a table of 10 be turned away. I thought pubs were suffering and crying out for business 🤷🏻‍♀️ Soo… we finished our drinks and left. All starving hungry. Not happy! Quite frankly it ruined the night and a member of the party’s birthday which was the whole reason we went there. If you just want a drink then go for it but otherwise avoid.

Went to this pub for a 60th birthday. Bought drinks sat outside. Went to the bar to order our food and they wouldn’t serve a table of 10 as too large a group. Not easy coordinating our 80yr old Nan with mobility issues to get there so we weren’t best pleased. Finished our drinks and left (but was then too late to eat elsewhere) Wouldn’t go back as clearly can’t cope with trade.

We have driven past this pub so many times and didn't notice it was there We were recommended to try the food by some fellow visitors so we went at lunchtime, some parking is available on the front, we were welcomed by a very friendly and helpful young lady who served our drinks and chatted about the dishes on the specials board Great selection of ales and food on the menu looks great! We opted for the specials which were amazing! Chimichurri chicken and Thai fishcakes, went down a storm. We sat in the back garden which is as well as the pub surprisingly large with a kiddies play area at the end. If we get time to go again before we leave we most definitely will. Excellent 👏

Called in for a meal, after visiting Eden Project. One of the best pub meals ever eaten. Great value, lovely pub and staff. Do not miss out

Great little pub! Called ahead to book a table for five. Friendly welcome, food served in a timely manner. Burger was great, steak, & beef lasagna too. A particular favourite was the Katsu chicken curry. All very affordable, which was a bonus. Service with a smile, and friendly locals. Would happily return.
