Weatherspoons Unions Rooms in Plymouth

As staying close by we went here for 2 days for breakfast and one evening meal. We were a group of different aged people who all ordered different meals. The service was friendly and good with no problems getting a table without booking. I can recommend the pasta dish which was very tasty. The cheesy garlic bread was oily but that’s my opinion. Breakfast was nice I enjoyed the fruit salad, I found the muffin dry as no margarine on muffin but various sauces on table if desired.only disappointing part was when I asked for an over easy egg when ordering it came as a standard runny egg.One of our party had porridge which was a nice texture but you don’t get much porridge and if you order fruit as an extra for the porridge this is added to the bowl so half porridge and half fruit. I would definitely go back again if in the area.

I asked for our drinks after ordering on the app and waiting for over 30 mins. I was then asked to leave by 4 doormen who tried to intimate me with no avail. Eventually I got a refund which I asked for politely.,but they obviously thought that intimidation was the best resolution. Why I don't know because intimidation by 4 doormen was not appropriate. It did not worry me but if that is your policy to intimate your customers so be it. Yours P Quick

Really disgusted at The Union Rooms, Plymouth and their behaviour and attitude. Firstly, they have issues with their cellar, (fair enough, they can't help that, not their fault). So most pumps are out of action. No ciders, at all or lagers/beers (limited) this was yesterday 18th October 2024. Today, I was planning to go there to meet friends, I previously had phoned the pub to ask if the issue had been sorted, I had been told yes it has. I went in. Secondly, I waited about 5 mins to be served, after being told there was a queuing system (no signs or notices anywhere to indicate or inform customers) so was ignored constantly. Thirdly, I eventually start to get served by a nice young gentleman, who then tells me and my friend that they have the same issue as yesterday. I raised the point of issue one, two and three he didn't have a clue what I was on about, so I stormed out. Mr Tim Martin sort your poop out please. Especially in regards to Union Rooms as their customer loyalty severally lacks and the amount of times I've had to complain about the lack of customer service and being ignored at the bar, it's disgusting. Many thanks a Loyal Customer to your business.

Went for late lunch with a friend, the service was reasonably quick the food was very good, me the mixed grill a perfect sized portion and my friend she had the small fish and chips which she enjoyed. That plus 2 pints of lager 2 double Jack Daniels, a single Jack and coke less than £40.00

Went to this pub the beginning of July on 2 different occasions. First visit, my brothers food was completely wrong. I had taken the menu to the bar and pointed out exactly what I wanted to order. I had almost finished my meal by the time his was brought out. Second visit, I was on my own and the supervisor tried to take away my unfinished pint on two separate occasions. I had a jacket on the stool where I was sitting and my glasses on the table. The same day, just before leaving I asked an employee, a girl with blond hair, who I'm sure was a supervisor too, directions to the station. Not an unreasonable question you would think as I'm not from the area. She made me feel very uncomfortable and was giving the customer standing next to me a look as if to say "why doesn't he know" The directions she gave me were " go out the doors and walk straight up" It was a fair walk but she needs to improve customer relations Definitely needs Improving on all levels

We needed a quick drink while strolling around Plymouth and The Union Rooms was as good a place as any. Another Wetherspoons pub plying it's trade on awful carpets. We toyed with the idea of a having a bite to eat but absolutely the kitchen wasn't serving food due to 'technical issues'. Our lunch consisted of two pints of soft drinks. Shame really, the pub seemed ok other than the issue with not being able to eat anything at all.

Breakfast are really Good. Staff friendly & Welcoming. Had a Mixed Grill too. Which was Fine. Only Drawback I had. Was on a Monday Afternoon Visit. Like the Rotating Cask Ales. Every One I Choose. Was Off. Got Embarrassed after Three Attempts Asking. Even a Half Pint Glass. Was Hard to Find. On the Next Day. Beer Choice was Fine. Nice Layout. Good Location.

Spoons wouldn’t always be my first choice but it ticks so many boxes. Complete mix of people from families, single, old and young. Price is obviously something that cant be beat and service is excellent

Really not a safe place to go. Have witnessed brutel bullying by the bouncers who seem to have a say over the managers. Thought the days of bully bouncers was over, clearly not and seems weatherspoons choose these type of security. Seen a women being dragged outside and pinned to floor and security allowing others to kick this lady and hold her down they call police and what they say goes. Poor lady was traumatised and unable to complain as it never gets anywhere as they stick together. Witnessed a dissabled lady that had collapsed, no one helped, bouncers expecting people to drag her off the property and refusing to call ambulance, as I'm dissabled myself, I tried to help this lady who was on the floor no help for an hour with bouncers shouting drag her out of here, after helping her till her family arrived, I myself was attacked from behind and dragged out and also held down. The bouncers stand around so no one can record, I've got footage, was horrendous, I was sober, not used to going out die to my illnesses, m.s and spine damage, the bouncers lie and stuck together and one has become a bully to me since spreading lies although he knows I'm dissabled. Having to spend my time sorting a solicitor for this as I cannot leave this, I've been miss labeled and after looking into this seems to be a well known problem amongst weatherspoons bouncers. Taking further to save others. It's time this needs sorting throughout this company

This place is the absolute pits. Tables and menus sticky. Floors filthy. This was at midday, so no excuse. BUT, the biggest let-down, which keeps happening here, is lack of food. Today they had run out of: Cod Pizzas Katsu curries Straws Chardonnay Rose wine TEABAGS!!! That's just from our order. Goodness knows what else. Whatever is going wrong here, really needs to be sorted.

I ordered a cider but was given an additional beer by mistake. The bar staff member made me pay which wasn’t a problem but felt as if he accused me of stealing even though it was their fault. Not sure if I will eat there again.

Usual Wetherspoon fare Minimum Staff Maximum Profit. Unfortunately queues standard practice. Poor choice of amber real ales available with numerous Keltic Ales being a regular or coming soon over the last few months for some unknown reason. A lot of pumps / clips as usual marked with coming soon but they never seem to arrive on many visits. Ask staff when they will be available to blank looks. It would be helpful to turn the bar clips around so as not to disappoint the punters who think there is a chance of their favourite being available

Totally unsatisfactory service paid for our drinks didn't even get them the bar staff didn't care, if that's how they treat bar trade we were going to eat I'd dread how the food was going to be cooked

We traveled up to Plymouth on the train yesterday and as my wife works in exeter we had to get the 5.15pm train , we went to watch Aladdin at the theatre royal. The train got in at 6.15pm, we quickly got to our hotel and then just had time to get to the show for its 7pm start. So we didn’t get chance to eat, no problem we thought , we can go to Wetherspoons at 9.30pm and get something then. Well we got there as it’s not far from the theatre and there was a queue, ok we thought it must be busy, when we got close to the end of the queue we realised that they were charging £3 to get in! Paying to get into a Wetherspoons! This goes against everything the founder of Wetherspoons wanted to avoid when he first set up the brand, no music? No tv’s no charging to get in! Absolutely disgraceful that we had to pay a £3 supplement to be able to eat., we had zero interest in the DJ or music , we just wanted to eat! Well we left the queue and went to the bank pub up the road, it was too late for food of course but we didn’t need to pay to get in , in the end we had to get a late night kebab from a takeaway joint to take back to our hotel. This morning rather than go to Wetherspoons to get out breakfast we went to the Brass Monkey , it was more expensive but the £3 policy last night made me so mad that I didn’t care! So Wetherspoons you lost out on two evening meals, two breakfasts and probably 6 drinks , 👏

Unfortunately the service wasn’t great, ready to order at the bar however, a tall mall employee with short brown hair was standing around having a chit with his colleagues instead of acknowledging there are customers to be served. On top of that had to be call over to order he was also impolite when ready to serve. I would like to add my table ordered food, waitresses got the table wrong it is the companies responsibility to acknowledge they are wrong instead of coming to the the table with an attitude to tell us to pay.

This pub is brilliant and the only one I know that has a disco great music loads of space inside and out decent price food and drink well worth going

Went in to grab some lunch. It was busy but far from packed. Plenty of tables free. But all were dirty with dishes, cups and glasses that hadn't been cleared away. Outside the kitchen, just to the wide of the bar was a larger stack of dirty plates. The staff on duty were clearly trying to do their best but the manager overheard us commenting on the state of the place as we left (without ordering) and instead of apologising, chose to berate us for complaining (to ourselves mind you). If anyone was to blame, it was him. Clearly not anticipating demand and employing enough staff.

the food was amazing and the staff even better, had a great chat with a guy named Mac, he recommanded some nice food for me and my family, it was great 5* customer service

Friday night, had a job to find a table at 5pm and the one I found was full of plates and glasses, table dirty. The manager was accompanied by a new waitress, past my table 6 times and with empty hands failed to clear anything, pretty young thing though. Abbot ale was past its sell by date, food was better than before but it is not improving. The place was packed so takings must be good but ales, food, service and cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired.
