Weatherspoon in Brighton and Hove

Wasn’t happy. Food was not nice, poor customer service. Table wasn’t clean, cutlery was not clean. Wouldn’t recommend.

Staff were ok polite enough but the place is a dump you couldn’t move for plates, glasses and the tables were filthy dirty and sticky, unfortunately it was a rough place to be so won’t be going there again

Super busy but staff were pleasant enough the food is normal fare but tables left uncleaned making it hard to find a table without taking the glasses and plates to the place they supposed to go by members of the staff,drinks silly cheap and you always see people from all walks of live enjoying their time here,been better but been worse so rated average

Its a Spoons and you cannot doubt the place for the excellent value for money. You’d pay £15 in a hotel for a breakfast but can get three for the same price here. Staff very friendly and helpful- went upstairs on the next visit, where it was a lot less busy and hectic with a great view over street below. Had a couple of pints of Doombar later one afternoon and again great price, beer quality and service.

We waited for the order around half an hour . We waited for food next half an hour.They bring for me food which wasn't what I ordered. The kids food was smelled strange like someone try quick defrost the chicken fillets to burger . Horrible nuggets . Also meat from mix grill taste like old and grains in salad the same. Later when we wanted order extra drinks for kids they said they can take order just from app which is not working ,cause they have a slow WiFi and if I wanted use mine wasn't connected in this place .I wouldnt recommend this place for family dinner . The food can be poison.

I'm a big fan of Wetherspoons, but this one is not one of their best pubs. Positive: it's central and the pepperoni pizza was amazing. Negative: Too crowded, too much noise and the inside location didn't look that great.

Out of the two Wetherspoons in the city centre, that we visited, we preferred this one. The bar staff were friendly and accomodating and there was a nice atmosphere in the place. We will definitely visit again, on our next visit to Brighton!

With friends for a day trip to Brighton. Called in here straight from the station. Service was poor, had to remind server for a glass to get water. She just replied well it’s self service. I understood that, but was I meant to carry it in my hands? Food menu had more stuff unavailable than there was available. No chips, 3 different pizzas off. To top that we had a 40min wait. There was no clear thoroughfares around the tables either. All in all a poo experience.

A group of 8 of us were visiting Brighton on a hen weekend. We chose the nearest whetherspoons as we know the table service app would be a great thing to utilise. We didn’t have a lot of time before our cocktail making session in another nearby bar. We needed to line our stomachs so in a rush we settled for The Bright Helm. My goodness what a mistake, I’ve used many whetherspoons in the south west and London and never seen such a dirty restaurant linked with whetherspoons. The floor was dirty, the table and chairs and carpets were disgusting. The bar and coffee station looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in a week. Sugar, salt and coffee and milk strewn everywhere. Dried on and generally not cared about. They had very little condiments stocked, no mayonnaise at all and what made it worse the table service was dreadful. Took a long time unlike anywhere else I’ve ever been and used it. The staff looked miserable as sin and who could blame them what a miserable and horrid place to work. Zero pride is taken in the place. There are 2 more in the city so would be interesting to see what they are like. I for one will not be returning to this establishment in a hurry, such a shame as it’s ideally placed within the vacinity of clubs, bars, the sea front and shopping centre.

Recently I gave this place a 5 star rating.However on my last visit being disabled, I asked for my drink to be brought to my table. Over 10 minutes later after complaining it was brought to me. I spoke with a young lady called Ali who called me darling which I asked her not to as I was complaining and then she called me Honey. I was not impressed as she was young enough to be my granddaughter. After complaining again to Wetherspoons they put me through to the restaurant and I spoke to a young man called Callum who said the staff called everyone darling whether they were young or old. He said he would speak with her and ring me he next day which he failed to do. Very disrespecfu

Ordered 3 pizzas at the bar. 45 min later we were told that 2 out 3 pizzas they had run out of. 30 minutes later the pizzas we changed to arrived. Did they sorry? No! You can't be in a hurry if you want a pizza in this place and don't expect any apology. I won't be coming here again!

On a particular day, I visited it was incredibly busy which is understandable as it was a Saturday in a city centre at breakfast time but apparently other customers didn't understand this. there was a group of 4 of us and we ordered our drinks and food on the wetherspoons app, our drinks only took about 2 minutes to arrive about 30/40 minutes for the food which arrived hot and was lovely. Multiple customers sitting across from us complained that their food had taken too long or was cold etc but I had blatantly watched them sit picking and staring at their food for 15 minutes before deciding to alert the poor waiter that their food was cold. I don't understand how these people could stand and completley belittle a member of staff in order to gain some kind of compensation. I visited on the 1st of June at around 11:00am and the bar staff (upstairs) and waiters were brilliant.I would appreciate if the staff are passed on this message.Thankyou

Working in Brighton for a week, and every day walked down from the station for a breakfast. Just as expected. Service was fine, food was OK too.

When I went in it was full. There was an upstairs restaurant as well but I have a problem climbing stairs. I asked the barman (John) if someone could have a look to see if there was any room because I didn't want to struggle up there to find it full. He had a look round and then ran up to look. He reported back it was full. I thanked him and I was walking out when someone got up and went out. I sat down but because I was on my own couldn't leave the chair to order my dinner because I would have lost the seat. A young waiter called Josh came and asked if he could help, he was very helpful and put stuff on table to make it look like there was someone sitting there. He then brought my food and kept checking if there was anything else he could do to help. Food was good and very good value as always. My normal grouse with Wetherspoons is the floors and tables are not cleaned regularly enough. It was very busy it was Brighton Festival week but it only needs a member of staff to keep on top of it.

Didn’t expect much and it failed to deliver even that. I don’t think anyone walks into a Weatherspoons looking for haute cuisine. Cheap and cheerful it wasn’t. Ordered a Doom Bar; served an Abbot Ale. Ordered a large mixed grill and half the order didn’t arrive. Sat at a bar stool next to a pile of empty glasses, bottles and mugs - still there when I left. Even by Weatherspoon it was a poor show.

we have visited here any time we stay in Brighton and the overall experience has been fine descent food and drink all ok but on this occasion we should have complained not about the food or drink but the lack of cleanliness both on the floor and especially the tables which were wet and sticky with drink spills and the menu cards were so sticky and not nice to handle we appreciate the place was full of customers but the staff should be made aware that certain standards should be inplace no matter how many tables are taken we hope this comment is adhered to

Your typical wetherspoons good food and good prices. Pleasant vibe here with friendly staff. Centreal location just off the lanes and 10 minute walk to pier.

Worst one of this I have been in. I went in with 6 friends sat away from the bar. One of the bar tenders rudely came and told us to stop laughing!!

Usually have no issues in this pub but today was an exception. Upstairs bar, one person serving, but the barman of course chose to serve the lady, who arrived after me, before me. He claimed "I thought my colleague was serving you." No, and did you ask me or him? No. Come on guys, it's not busy nor difficult to work out who is next. Very disappointed and they lost lunch order as a result. Up your game manager.

Me and my friend were in Brighton today doing some shopping and decided to go into the bright helm for lunch i had drive thru burger and my friend had beef lasanga and chips very busy in there today with a hen party and stag do going on.But the food was good and so was the service recomend it to anyone visiting brighton.

The Bright Helm is a very big and very busy pub in Brighton city centre. I went in today because I wanted a pizza and had heard they do good pizzas in there. I wasn't wrong in any way at all! I received great service and great food. I have NO problem with the pub being busy and messy because when it is very busy you can't expect it to be spotlessly clean and tidy. Although my table was not clear I did not complain as I had more than enough room for my plate and cup of tea. It was hassle free and I did see one member of staff doing his very best to keep the area clean and tidy, I was in the upstairs bar and thoroughly enjoyed my visit. There were no niggles whatsoever and the pizza was delicious. It came within ten minutes which was great but as it was busy I expected to wait at least 30 minutes if not longer for my food. If I look at the bar and see who's ordering food then I know I can expect a long wait. However I was in no rush and really enjoyed my experience. If you go in at a busy time don't expect the pub to be clean and tidy. I didn't as I knew this pub was a very popular pub and impossible to keep clean and tidy. Well done Wetherspoons!!! I will be back soon.

Nuestra familia ama a Wetherspoons! Sin embargo estoy muy molesto después de visitar este hoy. Estaba con mi pareja de 51 años y mis padres de 76 años en la ley y decidimos ir a cenar aquí. Los dos hombres fueron al bar y se les negó de inmediato el servicio, dado que uno de nosotros supuestamente había bebido demasiado. ¡Había tenido 1 g & t a la hora del almuerzo y nada desde entonces! Algunos de ustedes pueden decir "sí, sí", ellos no dirían que sin ninguna razón, pero honestamente, esta era la verdad. Mi teoría es que era la discriminación por edad, ya que es un fin de semana festivo y mucha gente joven y espacio limitado, pero podría estar equivocado. Todo esto me ha trastornado y mi sentido del bien y el mal. En esta ocasión se equivocó, pero ha creado un triste final para lo que de otro modo habría sido un fin de semana encantador.

Estúpidamente decidimos dar una oportunidad por sus filetes. Oh, qué error fue. Medio ordenado, tiene azul. No voy a comer carne cruda de qué fuente no estoy seguro, así que la devolví. Consiguió el mismo trozo de carne (cortado por la mitad) que acaba de poner de nuevo en la parrilla y ahora estaba bien hecho. Aparte de eso no tenía sabor y se quemaba. Patata jacked recalentada con todo lo demás, seca y no comestible. Lo mejor de ese plato fue una mostaza que traté de usar para cubrir el horrible sabor de la comida. Nunca más.

Una estrella fue muy generosa para estas cucharas, estaban sirviendo a las personas en la caja que acababan de llegar y dejando a las personas que habían estado esperando para que las sirvieran, cuando llegó nuestra comida casi no había pollo, el panini, el pollo de la barbacoa, había una pequeña cantidad de papas fritas y nada de cebolla en las hamburguesas, mi madre tenía una envoltura de pollo que solo tenía salsa por la mitad, mi vaso de cerveza tenía trozos en ella, solo me di cuenta cerca del final y también en ese momento mi padre señaló un gel pegajoso en el En la parte superior del vaso, cuando nos íbamos, mi mamá vio a uno de los camareros sacar la comida de un plato de los clientes y comerla antes de llevarla al cliente. Cuando hablamos con un miembro del personal, no parecían preocupados por la situación, solo vean las imágenes a continuación y piensen que estarían felices de comer o beber aquí.

¡Absolutamente terrible! El peor servicio posible no puede ordenar el pedido más simple y eligió la opción fácil de un reembolso porque no se le puede pedir al "gerente de la cocina que vuelva a cocinar la comida" cuando hay una falla. Nuestras papas estaban bien frías, así que pedimos algunas nuevas para que tiraran toda nuestra comida intacta en la papelera y solo trajeran 2 porciones de papas fritas. Cuando se enfrentó al gerente, no quiso aceptar ninguna forma de responsabilidad por lo que había sucedido y se lo culpó al "nuevo miembro del personal". Ni siquiera queríamos un reembolso, solo algunas papas fritas nuevas a las que nos dijeron que simplemente ordenáramos nuestra comida, pero el gerente de la cocina no se molestó en cocinar para nosotros, así que, ¿cómo va a preparar nuestra comida si volvemos a pedirla? ¿eso? . . .

Tables hadn’t been cleared , had to clear table ourselves ,food was Luke warm , and god help anyone that was with a large party and having food cause the waitress could only manage one plate of food at a time ,no condiments and had to ask and then got given a empty bottle of mayonnaise by a waitress that didn’t even crack a smile . After a meal in a local restaurant we went here for a quick drink. Jeez, amazing price. 2 double G&T; for less that £8. A venue earlier in the evening was twice the price. Go here for cheap bevvies

We went into the helm for a late lunch befor going to the theatre in Brighton . The drinks were excellent value as was the food ,the staff were very friendly and helpful . Will be going in there again soon

visited the pub whilst on a lovely day out with my wife, we were going to the theatre in Brighton but decided to stop here for a lunch drink first. Only downside was the plastic cups, I understand why they are used but they weren't the nicest to drink from especially for wine.

Don't go here staff are very rude and only get Stella upstairs (not stated anywhere). Worst Spoons in the UK without doubt.

upon entering the venue i was amazed at how welcoming and friendly the staff are and how clean it is i did not realise it was a weatherspoons and there prices are great value for money also only a short walk to brighton sea front from there location.there is parking nearby and also a vast amount of other attractions nearby and also close to the main area where the shops are located.

Visited on Friday afternoon , moderately busy. Got a table, had to clear it ourselves though and wipe it ourselves as well. Ordered the food via the app which was great and table service for the drinks was great as well. However the breakfast I ordered was poor , over cooked and not worth £6.50. My partners chicken burger was dry and Luke warm. Good place for a beer but not to eat.

I went in here at 5.30 for an early supper having cycled to Brighton for 1.5 hours. I was in the mood for restauration and so went in here. I nearly missed this pub as it is not well lit but I don't like the red signs outside which make it look tatty. There is no lighting like opposite and the pub looks dreary.

Missed by many, as it's slightly tucked away from Churchill Square, half way down West Street, just below the multi-storey car park entrance. Clean, modern and spacious. Excellent value food and drink as at every Spoons. Very pleasant, busy and helpful staff. A credit to the chain.

Not eggsactly how I like my eggs in the morning I was eggspecting more didn’t meet my eggspectiation I was eggspecting something eggstrordanry but at a eggseptonional price one can’t complain overall eggcellent.

Me and my family went to Brighton shopping and we went into the bright helm for breakfast. Me and my nephew had wraps mum had a bacon roll and tea, my sister and her partner had original breakfast, coffee and tea and it was yummy. Well worth a visit if you are in Brighton and need a good breakfast to start the day.

We came across the Bright Helm after having lunch. This is a typical Weatherspoons pub offering a great array of drinks, great prices and good service too.

Just had the worst meal I’ve ever had in a Wetherspoons. Service was slow to the point of having to ask for each course and our drinks. The waiter was surly and barely articulate. The food was cold and the garlic bread was burnt, crisp and cold.

Spent an hour or so planning our day out in Brighton over a scrummy bottle of Denbies wonderful pink sparkling wine , great value at under £20 a bottle.

Visited on a Sunday morning, we were killing time for Churchill Square shops to open, so decided to pop in for breakfast as previously visited Spoons at Brighton Marina and had a good breakfast there. Worst mistake! I couldn't finish my self-serve coffee, it was that bad. Long, long wait for breakfast and when it came out, I couldn't finish it. Obviously nuked in the microwave, bacon rock solid, beans so over-cooked they had burst and fried egg was like one of those plastic toys you get when you are a kid. Add to the mix, some very dodgy characters coming in and out and a woman dressed in her pyjamas to add to the ambience, it also felt unsafe. Never again, ever....

Glad to say that this visit was an improvement with sufficient staff to cope with a very busy lunchtime. Lovely lady who served us was very apologetic about food being a 45 mins wait when we went to the bar to order. As it was we could see masses of meals coming from the kitchen and only had a 20 mins wait. Food piping hot too.

The Bright Helm is a Wetherspoons pub on West Street not far from the front in Brighton. It is not the most attractive of spoons but is inexpensive and has enough space of a weekend morning.

We always come here for breakfast when were in Brighton, but this will most definitely be our last. Service is very good and food comes out really quickly, but it was cold and inedible, we didn't bother complaining just left the food and the pub. The Post & Telegraph so much better.

Was going to a concert at the brighton centre and popped into wetherspoons for some food before hand which was very nice. Now fast forward to after the concert we decided to head back for a drink to wetherspoons North Street brighton and the female door staff refused to let my husband in trying to tell us he had already had too many, seriously had she been shadowing us all night?? My husband has a shunt in his brain and sometimes he gets very tired and watery eyed especially after a near four hour concert in which he had 2 pints.

Even for spoons this branch is awful. Cold food, wrong food and minimum portions. Asked the server for some extra hummus for my friend as there was about a teaspoon size blob. He replied with “is that not satisfactory?”.... funnily enough no!!! Not mention the cold curry sauce another friend had and burnt/blackened chilli someone else had. Won’t be back for food. The North Street branch is a lot better.

Went to Brighton for a day out for my wedding anniversary with the hubby and the boys, had a fab day out on the pier and arcades and beach! Decided to go out for lunch, and since the hubby (Glen) loves a Spoons we thought what a better place than the Bright Helm? WRONG! Went in looking for a table for four, extremely busy and only one small cramped table in the corner, went over to it, it was sticky, dirty with old food and cans on it! Absolutely disgusting! Asked staff to clean but they said they were too busy so had to wet some tissue in the toilet and wipe it myself. The boys are very fussy and after spending a good 10 mins picking something out for them, to be told they didn't have any of it stock was a real shame! Finally, when the food actually arrived it was cold! Gotta say this really isn't the quality I would expect from a fine gaff like Spoons! Will not be returning, think we'll stick to fish n chips next time LOL!

Popped in for breakfast with my daughter. Prices very good, however we ordered a full breakfast and an eggs benedict. Very quick arriving at the table, but lukewarm!

Delicious Juicy tender steak with a lovely fluffy jacket potatoe. Peas a little too firm for me. served by very polite staff and a young lady called Chantelle who went out of her way to be helpful.

Ordered mine and my partners food which took over and hour, I then speak to a member of staff who says the food has been sent out! Not good enough if the staff don't even know there way around the pub then thy need to be retrained, I will not be coming back here and do not recommend them! Worst whetherspoons I have been too!

Me alojé en el Travelodge a solo unas pocas puertas y decidí desayunar aquí porque era mucho más barato y agradable.

Visitamos temprano en la noche para no estar ocupado. Un montón de mesas para sentarse ya que solo estábamos bebiendo. Muy ocupado para comida y personal ninguno parada. Gran variedad de bebidas a muy buenos precios. Estuve muy ocupado a medida que avanzaba la noche, pero disfruté la visita y la visitaré nuevamente cuando esté en Brighton.

Visité este Wetherspoon para cenar con mi pareja durante su estancia en Brighton. Siempre hemos tenido una buena experiencia aquí en el pasado, pero esta vez no fue tan buena.

Ordered breakfast wrap here, it was cold (cheese wasn’t at all melted) and poorly distributed so they offered to give me a new one. However they just microwaved the same one and gave it back. Hotter but soggier. Don’t recommend

Hemos visitado muchos Wetherspoons y, honestamente, podemos decir que este es uno de los peores sitios y baños en mal estado. Todos estábamos ansiosos por un buen desayuno CALIENTE (normalmente muy buena relación calidad-precio), pero desafortunadamente, de los 4 pedidos, solo 1 estaba caliente y mi desayuno Gluten Free estaba frío y parecía que había estado colgando en la cocina por algún tiempo con el Dos huevos se congelaron juntos, el personal estaba haciendo todo lo posible y cuando devolví un cuchillo sucio, me trajeron otro con una disculpa. Visita muy decepcionante.

Came in an hour and a half before we had to be out by 8pm as we had our 1 year old. Ordered food, they didn't have any cheese at all that day, waited near an hour just for our food to be stone cold. We asked the staff if we could have a refund as we would have to leave in half an hour, so we went elsewhere. Waiting staff were helpful and nice though. Absolutely rubbish app service in this pub ordered drinks on the app at 16.55 arrived 17.24 after prompting the blonde behind the bar still nothing arrive spoke to duty manager (who don’t have to give their name) drinks arrived 5 mins later not straight away clearly he had no one on the app drinks ‘service’ and didn’t give a damm about customer service!! This weatherspoons app is a complete waste of time!!!!

Me and a few friends (all female) went out for a few drinks on a Saturday night. There was a stag do which is pretty standard for a Saturday in Brighton. One group we’re all dressed as superheroes and an older member of the group had already come up to our table and had a chat, seemed pretty harmless just drunk. A little bit later he grabbed my friend by the shoulder and was stood too close for comfort. We all asked him repeatedly to leave us alone and it was clear that my friend that he was touching with distressed by the situation. One of the bouncers (youngish and fairly stocky built) made eye contact with me and I asked him to help. He did absolutely nothing, laughed and made no effort to remove the man from our table. One of the other members of the party eventually came and took the guy off of my friend and apologised.

Had a quick bite to eat at lunch. From the out side the pub looks bland. Inside there was plenty of seating. Food was hot and service was fantastic. Shift leader made us feel so welcome and all.the staff had a big smile on.

Popped in for a quick bite and discovered to our delight pizzas on the menu. The service was quick, and the pizzas were delicious the best we have tasted in a long while. If you get the timing right and it is not too busy it's ideal for a cheap lunch.

Cold breakfast dirty knives and forks and cups. Looks really run down compared to other places we visited.

Very busy but not very enjoyable. Probably the worst Weatherspoons I have visited. Grubby place and plastic glasses.

Visited on a Saturday night, every table rank, spilt beer and dirty glasses everywhere. Genuine half hour wait on the bar. Door staff more interested in chatting to their mates and intimidating the odd 18 year old outside rather than sorting the numerous problems that seemed to be brewing inside. Toilets stank of urine and didn’t see the duty manager walk round his pub floor once. On the plus side I guess it’s cheaper than other places...

Without doubt the worst Wetherspoons I have ever experienced. The staff were incredibly rude - security in particular, who seemed determined to pick fights where there were none. Other Wetherspoons establishments tend to provide a nice evening out, but this one, with its terrible service and appalling treatment of customers, was anything but.

We ordered 6 dishes, 1 was hot, the others were just warm and 1 was not what we ordered.All the wine glasses were full of lipstick ( wipe it off before you put in glass washer)when we did complain the answer we got was”this place is falling to bits”so if you want hot food and a clean glass AVOID this place.

Despite it being very crowded we managed to find a table free, just. Others were waiting to pounce! Also found all the staff we dealt with very pleasant and helpful. Food and drinks were all fine and very reasonably priced. Would return for sure.

With lots of other bars charging between £5 to £12 for breakfasts, starting the day at The Bright Helm was the way to go. Traditional breakfasts (egg, sausage, 3 rashers of bacon, tomato, hash browns and a couple of slices of toast) for £3.55. Other breakfast choices are available such as large breakfast, cereals, porridge and fruit plus the hot drinks are re fillable after you pay for the first one. The service was great and we were always greeted with a smile and from ordering to getting our food was never more than 10 minutes. A perfect way to start the day.
