We thought, let's stop here to enjoy a drink & a bite to eat with a beautiful sea view. Please trust me, it stops there!! We were shown to a table where we waited nearly an hour, and even had to go on the search for a menu as no one had brought one over. It seemed upon looking around that it was like organised chaos, lots of people all sat waiting and looking around for service. We finally ordered, and then it was another long wait to the drinks being brought out, and the food came out eventually after another long wait. The food was brought and left on the table with no knives and forks, and no serviettes or accompaniments offered. I had to get up and go on the search myself. There were no serviettes to hand, I had to ask. By the time I had got what we needed the food was cold. The food was of Iceland quality, not very nice at all. They automatically add a 10% service tip, trust me, they don't deserve a tip. You could see the waiters were all over the place, and didn't have a clue what they were doing. My husband ordered and paid for an extra drink just for himself and after waiting another 25 minutes for it, he got up and went into the bar to complain and got it himself. Don't let this place spoil your day, spend your money elsewhere and avoid like the PLAGUE!!!!!

We waited quite a long time until the service staff became aware that we were ready to order. Nevertheless, the two were very friendly. The food itself tasted good. The toilets were very dirty, the lights mostly didn't work and there was no toilet paper. The ambience outside is quite pleasant.

Beware they charge 10% service charge. Food is awful, still they must be keeping Iceland in business Expensive Just don't go here

this was SO BAD. we ordered a tea which came back luke warm twice with no spoon. when we asked for a spoon, we were provided a dessert spoon? it never got drank in the end due to its temperature. food took ages to come despite being microwaved rubbish. drinks served in plastic cups which go flying in the coastal wind. just avoid avoid avoid.

We booked a bottomless brunch as advertised online beforehand for Saturday afternoon and paid for this prior to arriving. We had travelled 4 hours on the Friday for a fun weekend celebrating a friends birthday. On arrival we said to a waitress that we had a booking and she looked clueless. We were told to wait and then what appeared to be the manager came over and we also told him we had a booking and he said ‘have you actually’ which was very concerning and we reiterated we did and that we had paid £28pp upfront beforehand. About 5/10 minutes later we finally got seated on a table which was luckily big enough for our party of 6. We were given menus but nothing was explained about how the bottomless brunch worked (which is what usually happens at a bottomless brunch) The next challenge was ordering! Despite there being lots of staff (who were all very friendly and lovely) they were just totally clueless! Definitely summer temps that seriously need some more training. We managed to get our first drink after around 20 minutes and when that arrived we then had to wait for cups which also took a while after our drinks, everything was very delayed and slow. We then ordered our food and as part of the bottomless brunch you get 3 small plates each. We all ordered 3 plates each plus some extras, so in total there were 22 dishes. We were noticing that everyone around us who had arrived after us were receiving their food before us but we gave it the benefit of the doubt as ours was a large order and these were smaller orders. During this time we also noticed lots of other tables looking for waiting staff’s attention but the staff just seemed totally oblivious and lots of other customers seemed seriously frustrated, with some walking out before they’d even ordered or before their order came due to terribly slow service. This was a tell tale sign of how badly this brunch was going to be. There were at least 3 different tables wanting attention at one point and waiters were just chatting and shining cutlery obliviously! I couldn’t believe my eyes at their negligence and obliviousness. The brunch was supposed to be for 90 minutes and our booking began at 3 but we didn’t get our first drink until around 3.25. As time went on we managed to order more jugs of bottomless pimms which was great and came out timely. However it started to get later and later and we had somewhere else to be at 5/5.30 and despite chasing our food up multiple times we still hadn’t received it by 4.30! As it approached 5 we were extremely concerned as there was no sign of the food. We had only had breakfast and was counting on the food at the brunch and chose la plage to have our brunch at mainly because of the yummy food options! At this point we went in to complain to the manager as this was just not how a bottomless brunch works and without the food it’s encouraging binge drinking! We were shocked and extremely disappointed to find out that our food order had apparently never been put through!!!! We were offered a measly £6 refund each to which we were disgusted at and managed to push for a further £11 refund each. We did not think this was sufficient still as we had wasted 2 hours with no food!! We took our refund and had to go to Burger King across the road to spend it to get some food before we went to our next booking which was not how we had planned our day to go at all. We left feeling totally unsatisfied and disappointed as this was a main activity of our weekend to brighton which put a real downer on the trip and all our moods. We had so been looking forward to this brunch in the perfect location on the seafront but my advice to anyone would be to absolutely avoid and do NOT book bottomless brunch here as you’ll be totally disheartened. Advice to management is stop offering and advertising bottomless brunch when you clearly can’t fulfil it! Properly train your staff so they know what they’re doing and get them to prioritise customers needs, get this sorted and keep customers happy first before you even considering offering a bottomless brunch! The staff were all lovely and very friendly so not their fault but the place was just an absolute shambles and clearly cannot cope with a large volume of customers. Such a shame as it could be lovely

Paid £48 for 2x diet cokes, a strawberry daiquiri and 2x beers! Table service was adequate however we did feel forgotten about. We were awkwardly sat pretty much with another table and despite asking for a table for 4 we were left to figure out where to find 2 additional chairs from which the waitress “supposed” she could get one from inside. When asking for the bill she didn’t run through the orders and simply put up the card machine - so I paid it all to save the hassle. However I feel I either paid too much of additional orders that weren’t ours were put on the bill. However the receipt only showed how much I paid not what I was paying for.

What a lovely place. Stopped by with some friends and had a few drinks. The atmosphere and music were great. It was super busy when we arrived, but we were greeted with a smile and told we could sit anywhere we liked. The team looked very busy, but they all had a good attitude, and nothing seemed too much for them. They kept on smiling. Don't know why I didn't know about this place but I will definitely return with my friends for more drinks and maybe try the food next time.

Good location on the seafront but such a shame about the awful service. You'd think that charging over the odds for a very small selection of drinks and mediocre food, you'd at least get good service. But that's not the case. Ordering by QR code is full of pitfalls and is so long winded. The staff seem stressed and out of their depth and they simply don't know how to deal with customers. I won't be going there again as it was very disappointing.

5 of us went there for lunch on a Friday early afternoon, waited over 45 minutes for our food, asked the waiter to check and couple minutes later brought us 2 plates instead of 5, asked where the rest of it is and they said there was only these 2 on the ticket. They checked and found the rest of the orders, but still forgot one plate. We already spent 2 hours there waiting for our food and was still missing one plate. Finally got the last burger, all our food was cold by the way… Spent another 45 minutes waiting for the bill, had enough and went to the desk to pay and waited another 10 minutes to pay!

Well what can I say our cocktail jug was still awaited 40 mins after order despite several requests where it was and a ponytailed guy on the front desk who was rude, had no customer service skills and constantly yawned. Customer service skills go a long way and how you respond to them goes a long way to repeat business. To be told they had no jugs after chasing once again and no one bothered to bring us cocktails in glasses instead sums it up. When we eventually went to get our cocktail from the bar it was so lacking in alcohol it was untrue, £30 for fruit juice is a rip off so we had no choice but to return it. I would like to think it was a bad day but sadly too many others complained too, so something was clearly amiss. Front of house staff and their customer service skills are paramount bit severely lacking in this place

Arrived to Brighton from London. Not expecting the world but some basic customer service standards - disappointed. The best thing about this place is the music. Lemon and lime lemonade icy cold and refreshing but the tasty burger was sort of dumped in my face by the waitress who is perhaps just a bit too hot and tired to work today and can’t be asked :D half of the menu not available at 4pm.

Had booked to meet friends at La Plage for lunch on the Friday of Jubilee weekend, they'd been to the aquarium and I'd been looking for somewhere with a great location... La Plage has that... BUT... it is a QR code ordering system which is very slow and complicated, we waited 90 minutes for food which didn't arrive together. The serving staff were doing their best but I assume there was some problem in the kitchen... about three quarters of the small menu wasn't available, also many drinks weren't available (neither still or sparkling water was available?)... it was all very underwhelming. The food was fine... deep fried and totally uninspired but fine... It didn't show Brighton eateries in the best light, I was hoping to impress with lovely Brighton style hospitality and relaxed loveliness but it just felt amateur, random and ultimately a bit rubbish...

Visited here on Bank Holiday Friday. We sat outside and ordered food and drinks - it took almost an hour just for our drinks to arrive but it was a bank holiday so to be expected to a certain degree. However the food is awful. 4 calamari rings for £7.95 which were tasteless. ‘Cheesy’ chips that were covered in fake cheese sauce which congealed in the sun. Bad quality burgers. We were very disappointed. We complained and received a refund for the chips and one calamari but actually had you not been made to pay via the app before you ordered I would have refused to pay for any of the food. Will not be returning and would recommend to anyone else that you find somewhere else, especially if you are buying food.

Went for a quick lunch during the weekend. The service was not really good. It took around 45 minutes for them to serve our burgers. My friend ordered a vegan burger and after 45 minutes waiting they said they didn't have any left so the returned her money and give her a plate of nachos instead. Money / quality you can get a better burger in McDonald for less money.

Beautifully located bar, serving food, just on the beach. The terrace at La Plage was well thought out and lovely if you wanted to stop for a drink. Unfortunately it's plagued by flies, so all our drinks ended up with tiny flies entering the drinks. Other tables covered theirs with masks. On visiting it clearly had been a busy day, lots of items on the food menu and drinks (wine) were unavailable. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food wise, I wouldn't recommend. Basic at best, some friends food was luke warm. If the flies weren't a problem, 4 stars. If the food were Wetherspoon standard, 5 stars - just down to the location and setting.

Terrible experience. On Friday afternoon we had a drink and my friend went to the ladies. She was warned it was dark but it was pitch black. She fell down a step, the staff ignored her fall she cut her foot badly. She asked for a bandage they had no first aid kit only flimsy blue plasters. Disgusting and the Manager did not come to help.

Was walked nicely to the table, sat down, got asked to order via app. Ordered drinks after which the bouncer comes asking for IDs and my boyfriend didn’t have one so we were told we cannot stay. With all due respect to the policy this should have been done before we were walked to the table. Ruined my mood but maybe for good as the place was full of rowdy crowd anyway. Definitely not trying this again.
