Can't believe Wayne's is closed, have stopped there countless times & enjoyed great food served in a clean well run eatery by friendly efficient staff. It is the best place on the A303 by miles. Not sure of the reason behind the closure & can only hope it will resurface in a similar fashion. I feel for the staff who worked so hard to make Wayne's a great place to rest up & eat on the road to the West Country.

I’ve actually reviewed Wayne’s previously and it’s still at the same 5 star standard as before! We went in here today for a final carvery knowing they are soon to be closing as the owners go into well earned retirement. Such a loss for our local area. The food was still at excellent standard and will always remain one of the best Sunday Carvery’s in the South West! Wayne’s Bar & Bistro will be sorely missed

On a long journey to West Devon using the A303, this place came into view just when I was feeling the need for a cup of tea.......so I turned in, and naturally my partner woke up as the car slowed to a halt! The front was in sunshine, with a few tables outside the door, but we felt the traffic noise would be a bit much so went inside. Commenting on this, the waitress informed us that there were also tables outside at the rear of the building, so that's what we decided. However these were in shade, so it was only just warm enough. My partner had decided on a cappuccino, and my 'traditional tea' was served in a white teapot. We also shared a very good slice of lemon cake. All very satisfactory, and we resumed our journey westwards suitably reinvigorated.

Driving from Exeter to London we were suggested this restaurant locally. Not expecting much, I think we still expected more than this. Sure, it's clean - but isn't that a prerequisite rather than something to praise. But the food is essentially pub grub- , burgers, pizzas as well as traditional favourites like sausage and mash, scamp etc. all in a late 80s style bar setting, which is weird and souless. Staff also seem like Millenials unable to even do eye contact with customers let alone talk to them. Food was fine for pub grub but it's a 3 star experience.

Stopped off here on Sunday evening for a quick bite to eat. We only had a sandwich and drink but the food others were eating looked very good and the carvery looked great aswell! Lovely clean and tidy place to stop off. My only criticism is the parking - most of the spaces seemed to be used by the b&b; and we struggled to find a suitable place to park but I know this is out of the owners control and due to the bistro being popular!

I regularly travel 200 miles between LHR and North Devon so try and stop half way. Wish I had tried this place sooner! Just a little but further than Starbucks at West Knoyle and Mattias American Diner but what a difference; good food, not over busy (and it was a bank holiday weekend), clean and well decorated restaurant, clean toilets, garden. I would have given it 5 stars but I like my food served on a plate, not a wooden board! Would also like to have the choice of an all day breakfast. Having said that, every meal we saw come out of the kitchen looked fabulous and of great proportions. Will definitely visit again.

We were travelling the long road that is the A303 from Guildford to Plymouth, a journey we have made for some 8 years since our daughter moved away for study at university. This is a place we often stopped at for food. Imagine our surprise when turning up a little after 6pm on a Sunday evening to be stopped at the door by a young waitress and told the chef was going home early. We were tired in need of the toilet and refreshment. Food was still being served - carried to customers as we stood at the door. This place claiming to offer food all day everyday . What a joke! It was a horrendous experience as a traveller with no decent explanation- it just seemed that all the staff wanted to go home early ! We wont EVER stop here again.

The family enjoyed their burgers and Mum enjoyed her chicken and bacon dish. We were suitably impressed with the cleanliness and polite service that we received, please remember that a smile goes a long way, difficult I know when concentrating on taking an order but would be nice to receive that little bit of extra!! Stopped in with the family after checking out the reviews. Walked in the door and we were glared at by the assistant manager and waitress. No friendly warm welcome here...it was reminiscent of the pub scene on the moor in American werewolf in London! Once the food arrived it managed to get worse. My young daughter had bangers and mash which looked awful and dry, the mash was hard and school dinners. However the worst part was carrots which were hard and not cooked properly! The rest of the food was cold and inedible. All we got was a bunch of excuses that the chef had a million jobs to do...why open all day if you cannot accomodate customers outside of traditional lunch and evening meal hours?? Overall an awful experience with poorly prepared and tasteless food. Would give it zero stars if I had the option. Keep on driving is my advice.

Clean and tidy and welcoming, service is very good and offers a variety of foods on the menu. Very welcome respite when driving to Cornwall.

My parents took me here as they stop here on their way to West Somerset. The main reason being that it is clean and friendly. Well I agree it is very clean and the staff were great. The food was very nice too. My parents had the pizza which comes in 3 different sizes whilst I had creamy garlic mushrooms with garlic bread. All the food was great, definitely stop here again.

Many journey along the A303, we have tried all the eateries but not this one - it is the name I think that deterred me. Traffic was very bad so we called in for lunch and are so glad we did..

The service was good, the restaurant was clean, and it couldn’t be more convenient if you’re driving on the A303. My dad had the steak and ale pie, which was OK. He thought the mashed potatoes were very good. I had the Barack burger. The meat in the burger was gross. It had the texture of frozen “steak” from TV dinners I remember having as a kid in America. Rubbery and dense, if it had been cooked, then frozen and microwaved. I’m not sure which burger other reviewers ordered! Maybe I got the wrong one.

Been visiting Wayne's for years while visiting Cornwall. Always eager for their Sunday Roasts but oh no...what has happened to the cooking! Went for a roast today and the food was bland. Lamb was gristly and gravey has the consistency of water and was tasteless. Mentioned this to the staff on paying who just said "oh sorry...I will tell catering" Did not appear concerned. Hope it's a one off but the chef serving did not smile and didn't even speak once to either my wife or myself. Shame.

A relatively recent establishment (in terms of years), and very convenient if you're heading West on the A303 - and far better than the various "greasy spoons" often found alongside main roads. Toilets are clean and airy (usually a good sign), but limited parking available for a full house. Coffee is EXCELLENT (but a VERY noisy coffee grinder), unexceptional but reasonable choice from the menu, and we've never had a bad experience with the quality of what's been on offer. Don't bother to go there on a Sunday, as it's carvery only, and you have to book - no chance if you're a casual visitor, so just drive on... It's a pity they don't restrict the numbers for the carvery, and allow some tables for the casual, or expand the seating area somehow. Never had a problem with the staff, they've always been pleasant, and reasonably efficient. They have accommodation next door at Hawk House, but I can imaging sleepless nights with constant traffic on such a major road.

Reviews are good for this restaurant but our experience was not. Restaurant fairly quiet when we arrived, did not receive a welcome, in fact the more mature waitress that evening curtly plonked the menus on the table.

Stopped today always somewhere to park very clean and tidy and smart, great to see Nicky's smiling face. But Wayne if you cheffin stand asides, if your not get in there as our food was very average . I was expecting a handmade burger as they are listed as a special thing, l was as if it was from a box of 48, chips shocking, tomato and lettuce very very tired. Some sort of margerine spread, l can still taste the mayo from the coleslaw 4 hours on, just characterless meals we had. I was asked if I enjoyed my meal but typically say nothing.

Having seen this was ranked quite highly for Yeovil restaurants we were looking forward to a pre match lunch. Unfortunately it left a lot to be desired, the food was fine but nothing special!

We ate here whilst staying in nearby West Camel (it is an easy walk along country lanes). The exterior appearance is of a tidy motel, and inside it is very nicely done. Smart restaurant, very nice toilets (always a good sign), everywhere nicely decorated and...
