This place has gone down hill and I will not be returning.. both had pizza and it was so tough no flavour at all.. the staff are so unfriendly and very unhygienic! Touching their hair, moving food across with hands then eating the crumbs while doing it, playing with her hair then touching food.. absolutely disgusting! Not friendly.. the place looked scruffy and quite frankly I wish I went to Mc Donald’s… such a shame this bakery cafe was the place to go.. not anymore

Popped in for breakfast on our way to Cornwall. I had the eggs florentine and my partner had kedgeree. The eggs florentine was ok, I only say ok as the hollandaise sauce was definitely not a true hollandaise, tasted processed and very strong in taste. The kedgeree faired a bit better on taste but was lacking the main ingredient of smoked haddock, there was a deep fried piece of skin as garnish.🤔. Disappointing.

We only had coffee (good) but the atmosphere was great: lots of happy talkative people sitting at benches, ordering wonderful-looking plates of cooked breakfast. How can a bakery sell a stale greasy doughnut? Quite easily it would seem. My friend sent this back as it was inedible and my almond croissant was not much better, dry and definitely the worst I have ever had. A really lovely little cafe in Wincanton. The bread, cakes and pastries are the best I've ever had. Went in this morning and ordered my favourite poached eggs on toast, the chef is something else and is one of the few people on this earth who is willing to make me poached eggs without putting vinegar in the water (I can't stand vinegar). Most places you go you just get a cold stare and get told "it can't be done" (it can) but at Lovington's it's never an issue. The eggs came perfectly poached, runny in the middle on lovely toasted bread with a nice garnish. The coffee is amazing, proper coffee with no bitter after taste and if you ask for water it comes with fresh fruit in which is a nice touch. The staff are friendly and welcoming, nothing is any trouble if you ask. I also like that children and dogs are made to feel as welcome as the adults!

Great food. Quick service. Well priced. Menu changes regularly with interesting specials although you can't beat the ham and eggs for a weekend brunch. They like to "caramelise" (slightly burn) the toast if you're into that sort of thing. The donuts and croissants are both huge and delicious. Would benefit from a different selection of drinks - smoothies in particular. Easily the best place in Wincanton to eat and arguably the best brunch type place I know of.

We have had breakfast here, lunch as well. I buy bread when I want to treat myself (love the focaccia) and their almond croissants are just the best. Actually heavy with almond paste and so flaky. It does get busy but the service does well to keep up and you can forgive them when they are slower because it's not for a lack of enthusiasm. Coffee is good quality and the lunches we have had were lovely. It's not fancy, it's not overly trendy or trying to hard. It is simple things done extremely well with good quality ingredients which I think are mostly quite local? One of my favourite places for a coffee and a pastry, or breakfast, or lunch. Shame they don't do dinner...

I’m sitting here in the bakery cafe as I write this review with a untouched breakfast in front of me as the sausage was raw in the middle. Now mistakes happen however despite there being only two other customers the staff are more interested in gossiping in the kitchen than they are in the customers. It’s now been 30 mins and not a single bit of attention from any of the staff. As I sat here the staff did come out to serve somebody with a dog where the girl serving stroked the dog then wiped her hand on her trousers and continued to handle food, I have a dog and would not do that at home and if is far from acceptable in a cafe. Then if that was not bad enough the dog was nosing the food on the counter which the owner did stop it doing however the food should have been disposed of. I have been here a few time but the owners are going to need to have a serious look at staff and standards if I am ever to return.
