Really nice café spotless clean I had a sausage nap excellent situated in this lovely town of Bruton Somerset. Has a nice selection of food obviously including a breakfast menu. Pleasantly surprising to find such a nice Café. Its hidden at the back of a shop. Take away available not sure about delivery though.

Really dreadful cheese and onion toasted sandwich. Virtually no cheese and a solitary shaving of onion. After a 30 minute wait... like a bad trip back to the 1970s. I would have said something but the service was so generally grumpy that I didn’t feel like putting my head in the cat’s mouth at the end of the meal, hence leaving this review instead.

Also the owner (I assume) was moody and not welcoming at all with no personality or smile . Wish we had gone across the road to the old chapel which had a better class coffee shop !

Missed bus. Rainy Bruton. Fed up. So I needed somewhere to get a coffee. I you can easily miss Cats Cafe- it’s at the back of the general stores. DONT WALK PAST. It’s a gem - clean, friendly, simple well cooked food. I had a coffee, but stayed for a cheese and ham panini. There may be other vastly higher priced places in and around Bruton, but add this cafe to your bucket list!

Portuguese owner with a great selection of Portuguese food products plus surprisingly freezers with fish produce. This quirky side was interesting. Went for breakfast and the selection was good and with a vegetarian option as well.portion sizes good and drinks cost extra but worth it and a good selection of hot and cold beverages. Clean and tidy cafe well impressed with lay out will visit this establishment again.

Seemed popular with locals though could be missed by visitors as the frontage doesn't mention a cafe and looks just like a local grocers. Impressed by the small quiche and small chips which was plenty, full of cheese and bacon and came with half a plate of crisp, fresh salad for good measure (all for £5.50 I think). Cheeseburger and chips was good value too and the cooked breakfast was great - wicked fried bread! Hard-working lady running it did so well to juggle everything and we only had a short wait.

I had the mega breakfast. Old eggs, one brown one pink sausage, small plate with far to much on it and swimming in beans. Think it was cat who served us. Very abruptly and as other customers came in they where served in the same manner. Food was thrown on the table. Strange to keep the freezer store in the cafe. Wouldn't recommend

My friend and I were looking for a light lunch in Briton, we failed at the art gallery (we had not booked) so we went looking for the Cat's Cafe in the centre of the village. We were both surprised to find the cafe at the back of a convenience store! It certainly did not look appealing but we were tired and hungry. Looks can be so deceiving, the food was excellent and obviously home cooked. I had a quiche and salad which was hot and tasty. My friend had a hot chocolate with her lunch and it was excellent. Skip all the posh places in Briton, go to Cat's Cafe.

Parking is on-street and sometimes a short walk is required. The staff are friendly and always ready for a chat. Service is timely and good quality. We would always recommend this cafe for breakfast, brunch or lunch. We have not tried evening meals, not sure if they are available in the evening.

Never been to Bruton before, glad I visited, might visit again and if I do I will definitely eat here again. This is a cosy little no frills cafe nestled at the rear of a convenience store. Simple menu, full English, sandwiches, soup, jacket potatoes, cakes etc. One suprise on the menu, a Mexican inspired breakfast, had this and loved it and want it again though next time I will ask for a little extra salsa (love spice). Was a midweek when we visited so just the owner on duty but Cat (cafe namesake) was very efficient. Cat is of Mexican dissent (hence the Mexican breakfast) and a joy to talk to. I think she should put a couple more of her Mexican dishes on the menu, if they are as nice as the breakfast they will be winners. So if you find yourself in this pretty medieval town and hungry for some simple fare or a Mexican breakfast this is the place.

Hubby and I fancied a quick and easy bite for breakfast after a hearty walk up to the Dovecote (and back) so we stopped in here for a cheap and cheerful bite to eat. Service was quick, friendly and with a smile - two huge mugs of tea kept us company until we were served two hot plates of food piled high with bacon, eggs, sausages, beans and toast. Yum yum!!

There is really only one thing wrong with this charming little cafe and that is - as other posters have already stated - that it is difficult to find. On the day I visited just one A-board on the pavement outside advertised its presence. You would not be able to see this driving past (due to parked cars) or even walking past on the other side of the road. The entrance is through the Bruton 'Premier' Convenience Store - which seems to be run by the same family. Cat really does need to advertise her presence better with a sign up at the 10 foot level, where the store itself is advertised. For this reason (only) I award 4* rather than 5*.The main fare in this 20-seater cafe is traditional English food such as baked potatoes, sandwiches and the usual range of quick-to-prepare hot dishes and light lunches. Afternoon tea and some Portuguese food are also available. I opted for one of the all-day breakfasts and it was served up in good time, was good value for money and was as much as I could eat on the day! I went in at a fairly quiet time but I would imagine that the serving time increases when it gets full as I could see only a couple of people behind the counter and in the kitchen. Note that there are also 'comfy chairs' for customers to wait in (with newspapers supplied for reading material) if it is necessary to wait for a table to become free. Take-out food is also available, together with a good range of cakes. There is no problem with cleanliness or food hygiene here - the cafe holds a 5* FSA 'Scores on the Doors' rating (inspection was carried out in April 2015). There is one small toilet for customer use but it could be signed better. Free car parking is theoretically available in the road just outside but, in practice, you would probably need to park elsewhere in Bruton and walk back as this small town does have a parking problem and it does get busy with through traffic, especially in the holiday season - most roads in Bruton are narrow! Opening hours are 8 AM to 5 PM Monday to Saturday but closed all day on Sunday. In summary - this cafe is warmly recommended but please, Cat, advertise your presence more effectively!

Now, let me just be completely honest with you. I am not a fussy eater and I always enjoy eating. However I must warn you to seek medical advice before you decide to embark on a cats cafe meal, let me break this down. You will most definitely have to run it by your doctor and possibly have a team of highly trained paramedics waiting outside incase you need them, and believe me you will feel like you do. So let me set the scene, I was looking forward to a simple breakfast meal, as I mentioned before I am not fussy. I entered the cafe, it really does reflect any stereotypical cafe you see on a low budget set (maybe even a zero budget set - doesn't look like any work has been undertaken here to create ambiance, forget that even exists and slip into the mundane depressing setting of this humdrum glum and slightly full of scum cafe) Well anyway on to the most important part...the food & of course the service must be acknowledged. So once inside this little dirty cafe, you find a menu, limited choices but that doesn't matter if it's good. Anyhow, once ready to order you order at the till and you sit at your table and wait...and wait...and wait. Almost dinner time and finally your breakfast is brought out with dirty table clothes. You order something and it's missing, you politely ask if it is available to have as you ordered it and you are met with such rudeness, snatching the plate back and trying to deny you ever did order it, it's your fault and that's fine. Until you start eating. This is where all the really pressing problems begin. You suddenly feel sick to your stomach. And the acidic heartburn starts to corrode your insides. I also did not realise that sausages could smell like a smelly wet dog, imagine going to eat something and you can smell a ghastly stench which makes you question your own sanity. Surely not. I don't usually leave meals, I love eating and what sounded like simple easy food turned out to be hell. Word of advice would be to give this place a miss. Serving tinned soup and claiming its homemade. Nobody is that stupid, very disappointing.

You won't see this High Street establishment from the High Street: it's tucked away at the back of Bruton's post office and general store. But don't pass up the chance to have a cup of coffee or pot of tea, with a quiche or cake with it. All the food is home-made, and served by Cat (Caterina?) and her daughter; you may hear the grandson in the background. And if you need to brush up you Spanish, or French, or Portuguese, this is the only café you need to visit in Somerset.

Good pit stop if you like good honest food in a nice homely café at reasonable prices then its the place for you. if you want the snob image and price that matches the over blown small portions there is lots of local waste of money alternatives.
