Waxy O'Connor's Pub in City of London, Westminster

I ordered 3 pints of beer with my friends and was charged exact £25.00. Felt a bit expensive but didn’t care. But later I realized how can the price of 3 pints be £25?🤔

100% as advertised. COLDEST Guinness in town.

A small group of us were over for the marathon from ireland yesterday and tried to visit your pub after we finished the race to watch the GAA. The door staff were unnecessarily arrogant and dismissive upon arrival. They had to check our bags and check some ID’s which is all fine and expected but their attitude in doing so was very unwelcoming, and not what we expected at all. We didn’t even go in and decide to go elsewhere in the end.

A busy little pub. Worth getting there a little early we struggled to find a seat. The atmosphere was great through and the decor is very unique and unexpected in central London. Almost feels like a church.

Good place to drink some beer and eat something. The only bad experience we had is their frier was broken and we couldn't get our second fish and chips plate. A bit dissapointing, but overall all great.

Very nice atmosphere. I didn't eat anything, so I can't comment on that. Beer and Irish coffee were great.

At the entrance very rude and not at all friendly person. They then made us sit down without telling us how it worked and so we didn't know that we had to order at the counter, including the food. There is no person in charge of ordering food and this guy thought he was only serving beers and drinks without giving me the slightest importance in ordering food. Needless to say, we left. Superb Pub with an incredible atmosphere, I recommend it.

Fun music and great vibe. Theres a long queue outside but moved pretty quickly. Its like a maze inside. Fun spot for a few beers.

Had to check out an Irish Pub while visiting London. Was told to come and check out Waxy O'Connor's. Love the Irish music playing. Great atmosphere. Yes, we had a Guiness, of course. 🍺

horrible pie, completely uncooked dough. sad nachos. service was nice enough. interior is kinda crazy with multiple floors. door man tried to size our group up and not let us in based on clothing. overall, would not recommend

Best pub experience I‘ve had in London. You think you‘ve seen the whole place, but then discover another room and another bar and another area. This goes on for a while until you‘ve finally reached the end. Loved it

Lovely setting and atmosphere but £8.55 for a pint of Camden Hells? (A local beer brewed up the road!). The most expensive pint I’ve ever bought outside of the O2 Arena! Not sure if that was just Saturday surge pricing or if that’s the normal price, but that certainly isn’t the norm for Soho as other reviewers have said. Nowhere else around there have I paid over £7, let alone £8! Seems to have become a bit of a tourist trap, which is a shame. London’s Temple Bar maybe.

Great for Guinness and atmosphere

I had a great time there. Both the sight and the atmosphere were in harmony with the extremely mild burger. I recommend it to everyone!

The worst pub I have ever visited in London.

Don't bother - worst Irish pub ever. Where do you even start with this dump? Rude staff, 30 year old crappy layout. An aggressive French member of staff who went out of his way (doing very little) to make 2 couples from Ireland 🇮🇪 in their 50s and 60s feel unwelcome. First and last time in this dump.

We walked in and then left. The smell in there was overwhelming. I don’t know if there is a problem with the toilets that night. But it’s such a shame - it used to be a great place.

Didn't eat and we got served at the bar. This place is iconic and is always busy. Great atmosphere. I hadn't been there for a while and took work colleagues over from the US and Manilla. Still great and still nuts busy but you've got to try it at least once, it's the rules

If you want to live the experience of London at night you cannot miss visiting this place. From the outside it seems small but from the moment you enter the door it surprises you, it has several floors, distributed in an area for eating and drinking something and only for drinking; The place has fabulous decoration. There is live music, the staff is quite friendly. Despite looking touristy, it is a bar with a lot of atmosphere, you can see the city's own people who leave work and meet here for a drink. We had some burgers and they were surprisingly delicious. The prices are average for bars and meals in London. It has a super original and cool confession chapel available so that after a couple of drinks you can confess your sins and cleanse your soul hahaha widely recommended to visit at least once!

Cavernous! There's no other pub like it.

Very suggestive and very central. Seen during a Saint Patrick's Day. A bit chaotic inside because it was done on various levels. However, there is no order at the table. You take a table, go to the counter and order. They will ask if you have any table. Then they find you with the food. Great Guinness or sandwiches.

My experience at this pub was terrible. I was there on 04/02 around 9pm. I sat at a table with my wife and we opened the menu. Since we didn't know how the pub worked, I asked a waiter what beers they had because it wasn't on the menu. He simply said that there was no beer on the menu and turned his back (?????) and left me talking to myself. I left immediately, and later I understood that I should have taken it directly from the counter. He just had to explain that. TERRIBLE. I WILL NEVER GO BACK.

Because of the service, I cant recommend this place.

The bartenders are rude, they are rebuffing when you asked something. One of our friends drowsing on be table since we’re tired travelling all the day around the city and one of the bartenders came and said you cant stand like that?! Are you kidding? We’re having our drinks&food and paying our money, it’s not your business to warn people. Hate here, dont recommend to anybody, especially to the foreigners.

We had a great time at this behemoth of a pub, with seemingly endless rooms upon rooms, great, lively atmosphere and a fine selection of beer.

Awful experience! Doormen rude! Wouldn’t let me and my friend in purely because we had a drink in our hand which contained water! Manager could give no reason either for not letting us in other than he approved of the doorman’s decision! Patronising and absolutely no reason to refuse us entry! Avoid as very rude! Much better places to visit!

But of a let down not the pub it self but the staff not very friendly when asking question and did not have a foot ball match that we were looking to watch and we were told by phone we would be able to watch so we did not stay .

This place is truly stunning! Right out of a fantasy movie with fascinating woodwork and a lot of cozy corners. With drinks, life music and an amazing location one of my favorite places to visit on our trip to London.

Worth the Wait on St. Patrick’s Day! Celebrating St. Patrick’s Day at Waxy O’Connor’s was an unforgettable experience! The queue was long, but totally worth it—once inside, the atmosphere was electric. Live music, a lively crowd, and plenty of entertainment made for an incredible night. The pub itself is stunning, with its unique wooden interior and maze-like layout. And, of course, the beer selection was top-notch—perfect for toasting to Ireland

Whitnessed an appalling act of discrimination at the door of waxys where the security staff would not let a Down syndrome man of 40 years of age into the premises. The group of 12 that was with me walked away when we came across this. Never again will I cross the threshold of this pub after witnessing what I just did.

Vinimos a Waxy O’Connor’s para ver un partido, pero solo nos quedamos unos 10 minutos. El lugar es enorme, con múltiples capas, pisos, y acogedores rincones y grietas, dándole un ambiente único. Sin embargo, los asientos están extrañamente diseñados, parece que se planearon a toda prisa. A pesar del tamaño del lugar, no había muchos asientos disponibles, por lo que es un poco incómodo para ver el partido. Si bien podría ser un buen lugar para unas cuantas bebidas casuales, no lo recomendaría para ver deportes. Terminamos yendo a The Three Lanterns, un bar deportivo cercano, donde conseguimos una mesa, comimos y nos pareció mucho más cómodo para ver el partido. Justo enfrente de la entrada trasera de Waxy O’Connor’s se encuentra Waxy’s Little Sister, un pub mucho más pequeño y tradicional en la esquina. Nos detuvimos a tomar una copa y nos gustó mucho, perfecto para una parada rápida si estás buscando un ambiente acogedor de pub.

Food: we didn't do it here so can't say anything about it. You come in and think this is it, but then you keep walking and you can go down about 4 floors. Great atmosphere, good staff and friendly.

What an interesting pub this is! Recommend to visit anyone who wants a special experience from London. Its close to Piccadilly Circus and the place is amazing. Great beer, great speciality food which tastes great and amazing atmosphere.

Waxy O’Connor’s is stunning! The woodwork, stained glass, and massive tree in the middle make it feel like a mix between a Gothic church and a cozy Irish pub. It has such a unique atmosphere - like stepping into another world. Just soaking it all in with a drink in hand. Waxy’s is one of those places where you can completely lose yourself in the vibe. Loved, loved, loved the pub! I will definitely go back again.

Really cool bar but when I went (Ireland v England in the rugby) the crowd that was in it was far too big. There was no where to stand, impossible to get a drink and had to leave as it was to much. On a normal day I'm sure it would be a cool place to visit so will try again another time

This place is a Byzantine labyrinth. It just crawls up and down, left and right. There are service bars everywhere. Watch your head, there are some low spots. You can usually find a quiet corner for conversation. They stay open later than most places. The rent on beer is a bit steep, but not out of line for Soho.

Stepping through the unassuming door is like entering an Irish labyrinth, you never know which quirky nook or secret staircase will lead you to one of the many bars! The awesome tree standing proud in the middle of it all, as if it’s been around long enough to know all the best pub secrets. Sure, you might get lost amidst the maze of levels and hidden rooms, but that’s all part of the charm. Cheers to a pub that’s as full of surprises as it is full of spirit!

From the moment I arrived, Charles was professional, courteous, and made me feel welcome and safe. His calm demeanor and friendly attitude set the tone for the entire evening. Alice, the bartender, was nothing short of phenomenal. Her skill, speed, and charm behind the bar were impressive, and she went above and beyond to make sure every drink was perfect. She genuinely cares about her craft and the guests she serves. Cindy, the supervisor, was the glue holding everything together.
