Thoroughly recommend this cafe. It's an easy one to walk past in this busy part of London but it's well worth finding it. A stunning setting underground just off Trafaglar Square. We went in for tea and cake at the end of a day out. Good range of food, helpful staff and plenty of seating. Fully accessible for wheelchair users. If you are going to spend money in a cafe in London why not support one attached to a good cause. Happy to recommend this cafe and will be back.

Have to say though the black guy serving the tea on the morning of 11th September was brilliant. What a character. His banter made a sad day (last day of our holiday) so much better. This church does so many things right! Rev. Dr. Sam Wells is a highly regarded theologian with 44 books published. His Worship Services are really great. His sermons connect ancient scriptures with today's Pop Culture, giving fresh insights in a changing world. There are also Worship Services in other languages on Sunday Afternoons. The Crypt Cafe down stairs is a wonderfully used space to help with their mission with the homeless. The food is good and you can enjoy the architecture of the vaulted ceiling! Behind the church is a multi use event center with concerts that can appeal to all generations. We visited in 2012, 2024 and would not consider a visit to London without Worshipping at St. Martin-in-the- Fields, although it has been many generations since the church was 'in the Fields'; it is in Trafalgar Square.

Since the Academy of St Martin-in-the-Fields is considered one of the best chamber orchestras in the world, there is a lot of expectation for them to deliver an incredible performance. I remember going to the crypt at St Martin in the fields in the 1990s and there was a place that one could get a cup of coffee and something to eat quite cheaply. It did have a rough and ready atmosphere to it despite being beneath the church but that was part of its charm. Unfortunately, like so many places they have upped their game and priced most of us out of the market. I could not possibly afford to eat that anymore the food look nice but the portions were tiny and it was just too expensive. I wonder where young people meet now to drink coffee and chat certainly not here.

My son who is taking music GCSE loves classical music and always surprises me with his knowledge. I bought 2 tickets for the Vivaldi Four Seasons concert, as a surprise for us to attend. I had not been to St Martin's prior and pleased it was so close to the tube station, so 5 stars for location. Yes, it is a church but a beautiful one, steeped in history. I purchased the only tickets left, which were quite far back so we could not see the orchestra at all, perhaps just a grey head or two, in the distance. As it is a church, there I not "stage", it's all on ground level. I wish I had purchased upper balcony tickets as viewing seems obstructed, unless you're in the first 3 or 4 rows. The music was beautiful we loved it. Winter is my son's favourite and I have learned to see why. During the 20 minute interval we bought 2 bags of crisps and 1 can of coke for £9. The most expensive snacks I have ever had the displeasure to pay for. Almost a tenner. No loo roll in the ladies toilet, another disappointment. Considering the Crypt restaurant is such an astounding place to visit and snack, it was sad they could not ensure the toilets were checked, before interval. Loved the music and the experience but the venue management, not so much.

A must-see for anyone who appreciates the decorative arts, for anyone looking for people who dared to live their dreams and change the state of things and confront the standard. William Morris was all this and much more. The visit is inspiring, I was particularly touched that he believed in his wife and encouraged her to go further at a time when women were appendages to their husbands and female education was not considered necessary or useful. What's more, he believed in other women and provided trades so that they could be more autonomous. After visiting the gallery, I came to understand why there are so many antique shops in the neighbourhood and why Morris' prints can be found in many local businesses. There's a market that sells post-walk treats and a souvenir shop for all budgets. Entry to the permanent exhibition is free and the staff are friendly and helpful.
