Met up with old work colleagues. A bar typical of the City and the people who work there.

The restaurant was very comfortable and warm on a cold day. Our table was ideally placed. The waitress Emily was very efficient & pleasant. However as the hot food was served on cold plates it didn't stay hot for long, which was very disappointing. We did mention this to the server and she answered it is how the chef does it.

Bar/Restaurant mit super Stimmung und freundlichem Service. Das Essen war gut, der Preis für London dementsprechend etwas höher, Preis-Leistung war für uns also nicht ganz gegeben. Ganz toll sind aber die Séparées, so ist es nicht ganz so laut und sehr entspannt.

Server was overly attentive almost filling up the glass after every sip, when we asked for the discretionary service charge to be removed they kicked up a fuss

At last, a sunny day! A friendly welcome, despite no reservation and a very busy lunch service. Delicious lunch of Mediterranean tart, chef's bouillabaisse and bream. Thankyou.

Fantastic. Staff very attentive whilst not being in your face. We were the last to leave but absolutely no pressure put on us to leave (10pm). Food delicious too.

We were in the City of London and it was time for lunch and we saw a signpost off Cannon Street which mentioned this and a pub. We were unimpressed by the pub menu but we had eaten at Harry's Bar in Marylebone about a year ago and liked it. We just had one course -one of us had cottage pie which came with what looked like fresh peas and the other had duck leg with an extra side order of green beans. The duck was in a ginger sauce and was tasty as was the cottage pie . We thought of having a dessert but they were slightly unusual combinations eg apple crumble with almonds and we were planning to have tea and cake later on. The food was filling so a dessert would have been an extra indulgence. The waitresses were very nice so I would recommend this place.

We were looking for somewhere to have lunch in the city and saw a sign off Cannon Street mentioning Harry's Bar, a pub and another restaurant in a side street. We liked the look of the menu. We had eaten more than year ago at their restaurant in James Street Staff were friendly , the food was good and we did not have to wait long for our duck and cottage pie, which came with what looked like fresh not frozen peas. . Both were very tasty and good value. The only minus point is that to use the loo you have to go down one flight of steps and up another and then down and up again.

It may well be a "City institution" but really it's just OK for a quick pint after work on a nice day. The food is ordinary at best. It's not bad but certainly not gastropub food. It's pub grub. The waiting staff cannot fill your glass fast enough so eager are they to sell you another bottle. It's what you might call "reading from a script good service" they do the right thing with all the sincerity of a prisoner saying to a prison officer "have a nice holiday". Nothing I write will stop City Boy's going to Harry's Bar but hopefully it will point you in the right direction if you're going for the food.

Always a fantastic time at Harrys. Great out door table experience in the square or cool and slinky indoor setting with some great booth type seating areas for personal dining and drinks. Food and attentive service is top class. A regular haunt for team and customer entertaining.

First time visit. This is a gem of a place just off Cannon St. If in the area, and after quality food or just a drink at the bar, this is the place to head to. Had some fantastic Japanese whiskey to finish my visit.

Food and wine very good indeed. Service was ok this time but not worth 12.5% of the bill I’m afraid. I made a comment in a previous review that a cover charge was not appropriate in this day and age for a few pieces of bread that weren’t requested! Although ‘my comments were noted’ not only have they not removed this charge but they’ve doubled it to £2 per head + 12.5% service charge!! Not sure if I want to return sadly.

Only just been introduced to this place by friends for lunch. Great service, and the cottage pie is highly recommended. Will be back.

My rating is due the horrendous management of the place. Went for an early drink with a few girlfriends after a busy week. Noticed a few drunk people and mainly one really loud and drunk lady on arrival but its London and Thursday night – everyone is having a great time. Was having a great time till a man asked the waiter to add their bill to our bills, this did no go unnoticed buy my friend who was quick as challenging this! We were told to speak to the manager who happened to be that dunk lady. When explained the issue she was defensive saying we automatically in the wrong as they were her regulars, so why would they lied. We 3 ladies had to be mistaken and should leave the premises immediately and were escorted out by a very drunk man pretending to be the owner who was vocally rude and frightening us. I have booked this place for works many times but will be assured to never do this again. So unless you are willing to take advantage of young women this is not a place to go!

Very convenient location in the City. Great service from all the staff and couldn’t do enough for you. Food was excellent and the wine / beer selection is great. Nice ambiance in a lower ground bar. Highly recommend.

Fast and efficient, service with a smile. Set in a basement it nevertheless offers small discreet dining booths which are fun and good for conversation.

What a gem of a place, hidden away , lovely food nice vibe, good tunes will definitely go again

My first visit to Harry’s Bar and certainly not my last! A very cosy basement restaurant. The food was excellent and reasonably priced for the City of London, as was the wine. Our server, Adrianne, (hope I’ve spelt her name correctly) was very friendly and efficient and is a credit to the restaurant. I have docked one star only because I feel that a Cover Charge of £1 per person for bread is unnecessary especially as you only get two small pieces per person! Otherwise an excellent lunch in a very friendly and pleasant restaurant.

Every table taken, mainly with people celebrating the upcoming Christmas holiday. Usually this does not bode well for a restaurant but the food was great, the staff were attentive and in good humour, we just had a really enjoyable time

Frequent this place with co workers and the food is really good, varieties of wine and the staff are always pleasant.

I had a vey lunch with business partners. The dishes are simple but very delicious and service was also very attended. Highly recommended and will definitely come back over my next trip to London.

I have dined a number of times at Harry’s. Yesterday I hosted a Christmas lunch for 14 people. Everything was wonderful: the food, the helpful, attentive staff, the ambience. All the guests had a great time and remarked on the excellence of the food - especially when the restaurant was packed with Christmas diners. Particular plaudits to the excellent front-of-house, Nikki, and our excellent waitress.

Very nice gastro-pub in the heart of the City: The food here is really very good. I have to mention in particular the Harry's bar tiramisu, which is a real killer! The service is also commendable, quick, friendly and always professional. I also liked very much the atmosphere of the bar and had the good surprise to find out that the bill was quite reasonable by City standards. All in all, a very good experience. I'll certainly be back.

Amazingly friendly and helpful people, and having spoken to the manager I can understand why. He has terrific management skills and clearly enjoys his profession. I turned up having stupidly forgotten to make a booking in advance and they sorted it all out for me within minutes. Thank you.

Good food in a nice old school environment. Docked a star because it took a very long time for any drinks to come but once things got going was good. Seemed to be very popular with large groups

I would give this place less than one star if I could. I can’t comment on the actual establishment because I didn’t even finish my drink. I met the owner, Harry, who was incredibly rude and racist. When he found out I was Korean he said a number of racist comments to me including if I ate dogs. This was shocking and I will not be returning.

Considering time of year it was quite crowded. Slight delay in getting starters but after that all good. Prices comparably with City prices..staff attentive and caring.Food far better than other restaurants in the area. Never been before but wil go again. I don't like to leave bad reviews as a rule but my experience here on New Year's Eve was truly appalling. My wife and I booked the restaurant through OpenTable for a meal at 9pm on NYE. We arrived at 8.45 to be greeted by a scrappy piece of A4 paper telling us the restaurant was closed for a private function. I then double checked the booking and realised that Harry's had cancelled the booking at 8.04pm that evening. Less than an hour before we were due to sit! No phone call, no explanation and no assistance in securing somewhere else to eat. Which was of course impossible in the city at 9pm on NYE. Our night was pretty much ruined. I then emailed Harry's Bar asking for an explanation and frankly an apology. As yet I have had no response. I'm sure the waiting staff are great and the food is lovely. Sadly the management are awful. Below is a screenshot of the email I received cancelling the booking. I work in this industry and no one I have discussed this with can believe this level of incompetence. If they overlook a booking I'm not confident they will have a keen eye on fridge temperatures or use by dates. Avoid this place, it's not like there aren't plenty of other options nearby (just not at 9pm on NYE)

It’s a while since I last ate at Harry’s Bar. I think it’s got even better! Huge portions of delicious, comfort food. A great, reasonably-priced wine list. Excellent, attentive and very friendly staff. What is not to love?

Great atmosphere, food and service

A great welcome and service from staff at this out of the way city site. Food cooked just as promised (pink liver arrived pink) from an imaginative diverse menu. Good range, too, on the wine list and at the bar.

Oh so good to be back to this wonderful venue where the food and service is 5 star. In particular, the sea bass fillet was sublime along with the Belgium truffle desert.

Harry's has a good friendly atmosphere and great decor. Party of six for my son's Birthday. Taking into consideration that we are in London, this place is pricey, £363. for six people without desert. The service was slow and some of the food arrived cold. My main gripe was that we were steered to the more pricier beverages and in my opinion, as a Guinness drinker to be conned into thinking I was served draught from a pump when I saw him pouring out of a can was sacrilege. I chose to stay silent, because of the occasion. Overall, I can only give it a fair review and probably this experience would probably be my last.

Booked for a lunch for 4, service was very good, especially shakira, food was overall good too. Main gripe was a quite limited vegetarian menu and menu states soup of the day is veggie but on this occasion it wasn’t. Crab soup. Please try and improve veggie choices. Also £9 prawn cocktail was rather disappointing. Really enjoyed calves liver main and tiramisu dessert. If you are veggie give them notice when booking. We will return as overall enjoyable.

I visited Harry's for the first time yesterday to have lunch with a business associate. From the second I walked through the door, I was made to feel welcome. Food and drinks where great and would highly recommend a visit if you are in and around the City of London. Thanks for a great afternoon.

Good atmosphere but relatively slow service. 5 fairly simple drinks took 15 minutes to arrive. (2 pints, 1 g&t, 1JD and 1 martini)

The dining room is in the basement – not sure if I noticed disabled access??Menus were a little tatty – I hate this. Food was better tasting than it looked, which is strange, but there you have it. Nothing ground breaking, very traditional dishes, but well cooked and perfectly seasoned. The service was polite, fuss free and snappy. It’s certainly not a big occasion place for me, but I’d happily eat a lunch here or dinner again. They do offer good deals in the week, which would definitely take me back.

Very difficult to fault this wonderful restaurant and bar. The Lemon sole was perfect and the Italian Montalcino red was extremely good. As always, the service was very friendly and efficient.

Went here with a friend for early dinner. The food and service were very good and the staff very attentive and friendly. However I did learn a lesson here and that is to check the bill and the wine ordered. We had 50% special offer on food. The bill for the starters and main courses were slightly higher than the prices on the menu. The wine we were billed for was £8 dearer than the one we ordered. We paid around an unexpected extra £30. My fault for not checking. Lesson learned. !

Came here last minute for dinner with my Dad. It's a tiny little place off the main roads of Bank and Cannon Street. Absolutely packed with city drinkers so definitely book a table. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. They have a wide selection with great wine. Would recommend.

Un amigo y yo fuimos al bar de Harry el martes 11 de febrero, comimos las vieiras y la tarta de champiñones, y los dos elegimos el bistec para los platos principales. El bistec de mi amigo estaba un poco exagerado, nuestro fabuloso camarero Michael rápidamente lo reemplazó. Ambos disfrutamos mucho los filetes, la salsa Bearnaise que acompañaba estaba deliciosa. Tarte tatin para el postre. En general, una comida fantástica, pero lo más destacado en el bar de Harry fue la encantadora y profesional atención con la que Michael nos cuidó. Definitivamente recomendaremos el bar de Harry a sus amigos.

Brilliant atmosphere, excellent food

This is the third year in a row we have had our work Christmas meal at Harrys Bar. The food is very good on the set menu, there is a good selection of wine at reasonable prices for the centre of London and very good service.This year we had the table in a square rather than one long table and this just made the occasion even better as there could be multiple conversations, but also the whole table could feel involved.As I said the service is good, and although it is the Chrismas party season, at no time do you feel rushed.Highly recommended

The staff here are lovely and the decor and atmosphere good and the food is good however we had an issue with our table.Being xmas party season the venue was busy, which was expected and great to see, but my friend and I were sat on a table in a tiny alcove where we had to walk through an office party that had a buffet laid out at the opening of our alcove. This meant that the sound from the party echoed all around our table and we had to constantly shout at each other to be heard, despite being sat a few feet from each other! We also couldn’t be seen by serving staff as we were tucked in a corner so we had to rely on them coming over to place orders etc. Prior to our starters arriving, the party was getting louder and when the waitress came to us I asked if we could please be moved. Fortunately the staff were so pleasant and accommodating. The waitress said it was not appropriate we had been sat in the alcove and moved us to a quieter table after we ate our starters in silence as we couldn’t hear each other speak, which was fine and we were grateful for, but it was a surplus table that was not meant to have two diners at so my friend had to keep getting up to allow other diners past. Plus we had to wait a while for someone to lay the table and out mains were delayed coming out as a result.I was disappointed that whilst the staff were accommodating, there was no small gesture to acknowledge the inconvenience of half our meal experience being ruined and having to move to a table that was better but still not appropriate to dine at for the other half of the experience... the price of one drink being taken off the bill or a small discount?! So we decided to pay less of the service charge as we felt that reflected the overall service we received; nice staff but uncomfortable experience.

This place could be easily called a hidden gem. It is not in an obvious place, the outside look is neutral, but the service and food is purely awesome. And prices are very reasonable.

There were three of us initially and we were joined by number four when he finished work, Our friend Sarah knew of this place and so Mrs.Electric and myself rolled the dice and came along.

A business dinner for 3 on busy Friday night, in a crowded but well organised basement section of this bar/restaurant - very good service and food, great atmosphere and acceptable level of noise. A lovely surprise to find a good London city establishment that delivered well.

Not been for a year or two but swung back in again this week for an impromptu dinner. Greeted immediately on arrival and from start to finish the service was excellent - as was the food. Mains of cod and especially the beef cheek were delicious. Desserts on par too. A very nice Malbec and a cold Asahi to accompany topped it off. A good mainstay for very good food at not too high a price.

Great service, food and ambience. A little gem tucked away but well worth finding. The staff were friendly and helpful. The menu had different food choices. Not the usual run of the mill. We were spoilt for choice. I had pheasant. My friends had salmon risotto and calves liver. All delicious.
