Came to have a catch up with a friend here, enjoyed the books and the coffee (while being a whooping £9) was actually really good and it came with a chocolate that was simply too good and the server which was extremely nice and engaging jokingly told us that everyone asks for those chocolates but that they keep it a secret because it is what keeps the people coming! I don’t know exactly what it was but it was delicious

My family and I were visiting London from the US, and we came across the bar here. The drinks were FANTASTIC along with the amazing service from Xander and Felix. They were the best service we received throughout our whole trip. There were a lot of us they catered to, and they truly made a great, positive impact on our trip. I highly recommend coming here for a cocktail and a great time!

In this listed, former bank building from 1922, the famous Paris publishing house not only offers wonderful, limited edition books but also luxurious furnishings and various 'objets d'art'. The welcome is often quite friendly and, if asked, you can look through many of the thoroughly composed, extensive and heavy masterpieces directly on site (with white cotton gloves). No matter whether you are interested in the exclusive world of James Bond or Tom Ford, in luxury watches, in travel destinations like Morocco or the Jewish ghetto in Venice - many wishes will be satisfied here. Afterwards, the visitor must treat themselves to a Japanese or French-inspired tea arrangement or one or two cocktails in the in-house 'Swans Bar'. Fine! 🍸

Excellent place with extraordinary books and unique atmosphere

Very expensive coffee £10. I wasn’t allowed to use my tablet. Not recommended if you want spend sometime in there.

Meanwhile en route to the Royal Academy, we chanced upon Maison Assouline on Piccadilly. This temple of premium coffee table books looks as good as it feels! Their collection is as fine as it gets. Stunning. Gorgeous. Exquisite. All housed in this two level emporium designed to seduce. You’re invited to peruse and enjoy. The staff behind the counter was very welcoming. His greeting was warm and genuine. In the corner is Swans Bar….we did not venture in but it looked tasteful. The entire showroom was definitely well curated and those coffee table books are screaming to be bought!

The place is beautiful, I had a hot chocolate which was great, the staff is friendly.

A very special arty place for book lovers

Our stop at Maison Assouline for tea and water was delightful. The atmosphere was serene and beautiful. The service was attentive, and the quality of the beverages was excellent. We will definitely be returning!

This bar came highly recommended by one of the local hotels. The Swan Bar at Maison Assouline, was amazing for a quiet catch up with my friend. The low hum of conversation, with jazz playing in the background, gentle mood lighting, this quaint hidden gem was extremely welcoming and the best table service I’ve had in London. The drinks were strong, with lots of flavour, and hidden notes, they came with delicious bar snacks, which was a wonderful touch. Our snacks were refilled, the servers were happy and attentive. They made recommendations and we took them up on them. I would say this is a location for adults, for a one to one, or smaller groups. Price wise, it’s on the higher end, and you very much get what you pay for. We will definitely visit again.

As a collector of Assouline books, I can think of no better spot than Maison Assouline. The variety of Assouline books at this location far exceed the other locations I have visisited. I was able to find a rare edition of The French Riviera from the 1920's. Given I was traveling, the store offered to have it shipped. Shipping was seamless and perhaps the best packaging I have seen. The cafe is lovely with small pastries and coffee. This store is aesthetically beautiful and is a GO TO stop on any agenda in London!

Stopped by here yesterday evening for pre dinner cocktails. It is beautiful inside and has a very relaxing atmosphere. The bartenders are very friendly and well versed on the menu. Well crafted drinks and great service. Highly recommend a stop here when visiting London.

Amidst the hurley burley of Piccadilly, Assouline is an oasis of calm, elegance and good service. Whenever we come to London, I love to have lunch here and wander about looking at the books. Simple but perfect salmon is my favourite, although my husband loves the baba ganoush or amazing Iberian ham. My treat to myself is a bottle from the excellent wine list. Yesterday was chasagne Montrachet. Sublime. Hubby prefers the cocktails. Sadly, these days my husband has MND and is confined to a mobility scooter. In addition he cannot speak. (Cursed disease) The staff are fabulous, kind, discreet, efficient. The ramp whips out and deals with the steps at the front, tables/chairs move, a nice spot is found. So kind. Big thanks to a great team, a wonderful bookshop/bar concept and a happy lunchtime HHxxx

Amazing hidden gem of a cocktail bar inside a bookstore. Great waiter, great drinks check this place out if you’re close also have a Negroni you won’t regret it.

I remember when I first went to Maison Assouline many years ago. I found the place by chance. I walked in and it was fascinating. A bookshop specialised in luxury books and they had a bar! A quiet bar, with just a few tables and non obtrusive background music. I went there again yesterday.It was the first time since the lockdown and it was a shock. A new management ruined the place. It's not a bookshop with a bar anymore. It's a bar with blasting loud music which happen to have books for sale. And they added lots of tables so the privacy that existed before is gone. People have practically to shout to be heard because the music is so loud. I wanted a table but didn't get one despite the fact that they had two empty tables. They were "reserved",they lied. I was there for about 30 min and the tables were still empty. I then understood that they were just saving the tables for big groups. I talked to the manager and he made what seemed to be a racist remark so I am considering what should be my next step. Anyway, if you know the Assouline but haven't been there since the lockdown then don't go there again . The new management turned an elegant, cosy, unique place into just one more of London's very noisy, awful bars.

Love this place!! Finally, a calm, intimate venue with comfortable seating and fantastic drinks!

Sublimely cool bar with great cocktails but a bit pricey

We come here every year at Christmas - beautiful drinks, beautiful service (especially Felix), beautiful setting!

Elegant. But overpriced Disappointing

Gorgeous decor but I paid £13 (plus tip) for a non alcoholic cocktail that tasted like Lilt. Not worth it. Toilets were surprisingly grim in contrast to the upstairs space.

Just a quick review saying Jose from Swans bar was great in every aspect of his duties last night. He made us feel very welcome and did everything he can for me and my friends. Big shout out to him.

A one of kind experience of high culture, perfect cocktails and cozy conversations.

This is the flagship store of luxury book publisher Assouline. It’s housed in a two-floor Grade Two listed building but it seems like only the ground floor, with a bookshop and a pub, is open to the public. The cocktails were delicious and they come with little snacks but I can’t say I’m that impressed by the experience given the premium I pay. There’s also no AC and no coffee after 4pm. On the way out, I tried to look at one of the books that was prominently displayed along the wall and was promptly told off. “The bookshop is closed. No browsing”.

Brilliant and beautiful place to meet up or spend a quite time away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Had a wonderful evening here, cocktails (and mocktails) were lovely. Decor is beautiful, lots of interesting books to look at! The waiter surprised us with champagne and cake when he overheard us talking about my friends birthday. Such a lovely touch. It is an expensive place but so nice for a special occasion.

This is an interesting place that was recommended on Insta. The video outperforms the reality of this small but cute shop and bar. After traveling 20 minutes to find this establishment we were greeted by an incredibly unfriendly and unwelcoming host. I’m not sure how the cocktails are as we decided to go elsewhere. My rating would be heavy on the poor attitude light on good service.. Boo!

This is the second time we have visited - both times mid afternoon for a drink after visiting Fortnum and Mason and other shopping. The surroundings are beautiful and the atmosphere is very calm and chilled. The staff are very attentive and are aware of when you need drinks and snacks refreshing. Well worth a visit.

Really nice place ! The service was really good and loved the atmosphere for my business off work appointment. Makes it really cool place m. However my cocktail was too sweet and didn’t have much taste apart from a really sweet fruit juice I didn’t feel anything else.

This is not just a bookshop or a cocktail bar; it is a descent in another world, where Riva silk scarves are next to limited edition objects of art, and close to glamorous books. The cocktail bar does serve extremely well crafted and mixed concoctions and the atmosphere is relaxed, decadent and perfect for a clandestine rendezvous or simply a friend’s catching up in a Uber stylish environment! Highly recommended

Such a loveky quaint bar and the staff are so lovely and friendly. Had a beautiful strong expresso martini which came with bar snacks. My daughter and I loved it and said one of the best expresso martinis we've had. We would defo go back.

I think it's overated, for such an exquisite place and price the service was average. And I would have preferred to be closer to the books as possible but not and most are very big books anyway, there is no space on the customer table for them or even the lap. Its over rated, there are better options

I only explored some of this massive store so I am sure you could find many gems. The books are curated and great. I really liked the layout and the general style. If you love old globes there are a ton downstairs. The lowest cafe was cute but nothing exceptional. The books are the star. If I had more time I would go to all floors and see it all. I could imagine it being a favorite spot if I lived near it

Traveling the globe to experience how the world does cocktails. This is one of the absolute best. All of Swans Bar is amazing. Unparalleled experts serving significant cocktails in an impressive atmosphere in one of the great cities of the world.

Amazing selection of whisky. Very knowledgeable. Only improvement would be allergy notice on the cocktails - no warning of dairy. My girlfriend insists it was worth it, though.

What a find! Such an amazing space, surround by style and culture. I managed to have two cocktails some of the best I’ve tried, certainly the best in London! Thank you to Felix for making my wife and I’s experience memorable.

Beautiful book shop, unfortunately the bar staff not so great, we booked online and after just an hour waiter asked us to leave as had another booking even though there were free other tables. Asked to buy tea around 7pm and said no longer serving tea even though we had already bought cocktails. Drinks took forever to arrive, service not worth the price of the drinks at all sadly which lets it down.
