Rude staff member was there, the staff ignored me. I have mentioned something several times. I am not sure but maybe it was on purpose.

All 3 children are big readers so we find a Waterstones anywhere we travel to,the Bournemouth store staff were absolutely ace and very helpful,on my return reviewing receipts I noticed we were given more change,on phoning the store to rectify they recommended paying it forward so that's what we did, with the overpayment amount me and my kids fed the homeless in our town

Usually try to avoid chain cafés, but this one is different. A really comfortable and quiet place to spend an hour, with a coffee and whatever book you just purchased downstairs. There is plenty of seating, including some more comfortable chairs and sofas.

I really like the cafe (as well as the bookshop), situated as it is in the off-the-main-part of Bournemouth Square, in the arcade. The staff are sweet and friendly and I couldn't fault them at all. Where my big gripe is (and someone I mentioned this to said 'don't sweat the small stuff' about the issue) but why-oh-why do these seemingly decent cafes (not just this one, but many many in my experience, nowadays) completely fail to make a decent cup of tea?? What they do is put one single probably already completely tasteless teabag into a fairly big pot, and what comes out (however much you swirl it around desperately) is basically as flavoursome as dishwater. Apparently (according to the really nice young lady there) other people have made the same comment, and she's powerless to do anything as it's the policy from above. I hope they'll let me have the teabag in a cup in future (which I hadn't thought of asking for, as when I go somewhere new I get this hopeful feeling that finally I'll get a decent cup of tea, like the ones I make for myself at home with the cheap supermarket teabags haha!!). My theory is that this is a symptom of the general malaise in society and the downfall of civilisation. End of gripe.

Tuesday 14th September 2021 The quality of the Mocha I had was good . I asked for it extra hot and I got extra hot . My wife had hot chocolate and she too got what she asked for . The lady serving us was polite . My only criticism , and it's not really a criticism is I felt the decor looked dated and tired . The furnishings could do with being broad into the 21st century . If the decor had been upto the quality of the coffee , I would have given 5 stars , but because of the decor I only scored it a 4 .

'. Ella simplemente me miró. Pagué, agradeciéndole, no porque fuera cortés, sino porque soy y fui educada para serlo. En serio, Waterstones, resuelve esto. Muy mal espectáculo y no volveré a ninguna de sus tiendas a menos que reciba una respuesta satisfactoria. Habrás oído hablar de Amazon e incluso sus algoritmos se las arreglan para decir por favor y gracias.

Today a toddler 2 years and mother got stuck in a DANGEROUS lift this shop offers to its clientele. The manager didn’t take any action to PREVENT anyone from using the faulty lift. His staff admitted that it fails very frequently but no actions has been ever taken . The manager in charge, Ross Medley, didn’t have any sense of Duty of Care and even asked me to stop calling the Fire Brigade until their lift company ,Jackson Lifts Group located in Wombourne would come on a Saturday afternoon. The toddler and mum were trapped in the lift from 15:21 until 16:06 (45 mins). I had to personally call the fire brigade after over 10 mins waiting for any action by this incapable manager. Fire Brigade Incident Number: TT029357. The fire men said that that lift should have been ‘Out of Order’ if the manager were aware it has been frequently faulty. This caffe shop has a lack of H&S, a useless manager, broken toilets and a DANGEROUS premises.• No H&S assessment• Irresponsable manager without any Duty of Care• Broken Toilets

Horrible staff who can't even make a hot chocolate with cream, it had more cream than hot chocolate, hot chocolate tasted horrible had a very strange taste to it, when I went to the counter to complain to the staff member said to we in a rude tone "what do you want me to do about it" I then asked for a refund as I couldn't stand her attitude. I used to luke this place but now I've gone off it, sorry guys you lost a customer because of your poor customer service, staff downstairs in the book shop are great tho.

I tried the cafe upstairs. It served nice coffee and light lunch food and cake. A bit disorganised getting you your drinks but a nice spot to read for a time while enjoying your drinks. A single toilet with a queue. Bookshop is a bit disorganised & reduced prices advertised on books upstairs don't necessarily get applied at the counter downstairs.

Bournemouth needs its architectural character back. The upstairs cafe inside the "Arcade" retains some bygone charm. A suitable refrain from Costa and Cafe Nero, With the perfect Jazz in the background..soft Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong etc...Not too loud..just perfect. I Liked the large red Chesterfield and the adjacent books; the older style lighting, incidentally enjoying a renaissance, was better than those awful spotlights.I liked the cool Victorian style lamppost outside the window. Overall thumbs up...Fidelscastrol...

I love cafe Waterstones normally - I go to them a lot -but this one seems to be managed by disinterested teenagers, who think customer service is below them and that they only really work there for a social catch up - and how can you not have beans when you advertise beans on toast - are these now an inaccessible exotic ingredient ... oh but of course popping to get some more would interrupt your chatter time! .... sorry Waterstones this store lets down what's normally a great experience

We met up with friends in this lovely café situated on the first floor of Waterstones Bookshop. Loved the décor - books on shelves and on the walls, and a small corner with sofa and chairs and more books on shelves. We came twice (in the morning and again in the afternoon) for tea and cake. Staff were friendly and efficient. The tea came in pots and plenty for another cup and half at a good price. The gluten free cake (Rose and Honey) was delicious.

I felt so strongly about how rude the staff were at this coffee shop, even though it was a while ago I felt compelled to comment. Went here with husband and daughter, not much food on offer , couldn't have cream tea no scones I was abruptly told by a staf making the coffee not the serving member of staff. She was very rude couldn't even look up. Coffees were OK, would not go back at all.

Lovely bookshop. Cafe area is pleasant enough but the staff is terrible rude - I asked what types of tea did they have and just got told to read the names on the jars. I explained I couldn't do so as I had forgotten to put my contact lenses on and so the lady behind the counter grumbled and read out two out of at least half a dozen and started to turn away. I just asked for a mint tea in the off-chance they might have it, luckily for me they did. Appalling service.

Have visited this quaint café since it opened, having taken over from Costa and have been highly delighted with the atmosphere, food and friendly staff. However, although I still love this café, I find, recently, things have gone downhill a little. Twice in a week my coffee has been lukewarm and sent back - easily remedied with a catering thermometer for the milk to avoid guessing - cannot bear coffee that isn't hot! A surly member of staff has appeared. I greeted her with a hello and smile as I placed my order I was ignored and when asked for a bacon toastie abruptly told to get one out the fridge,I didn't catch what she said immediately due to her accent and she had to repeat it plus was not the previous procedure, she repeated the instructions rather loudly, clearly aggrieved she had to repeat herself, and when ready my sandwich was unceremoniously dumped on the table without finesse and had to ask for brown sauce, another glare, lady with blonde bob type hair- think maybe got out of bed the wrong side but staff in a nearby shop seem to have had the same problem as I was discussing my disappointment with them! Three times I have had to tell staff there was no loo paper in the unisex toilet - come on this should surely be checked each morning and lastly if you are an early bird cannot guarantee food in stock - maybe an earlier delivery or different stock levels. Hope this goes back to its previous brilliance or shall have to reconsider visiting as another lady commented to me who visits several times a week and found her milk off and her friends' coffee cold! Come on Waterstones café, don't get complacent. I love visiting you usually, a little treasure of a place.

The first thing you have to know about this little cafe is that it is over the bookshop. Yeah, you heard right, you can buy books and drink tea. The book shop has a great variety and I can highly recommend a visit just for that. When you go upstairs you will enter the cafe. They serve coffee and tea along with a small variety of snacks. Sandwiches and scotched eggs are just a few of them. I especially liked the atmosphere of the cafe and it is perfect for a nice chat and evening with your friends.

Went here for lunch and the first thing I ordered was 2 kids lunch boxes, which they didn't have. It then took about 10 minutes to complete our order, literally ordering one thing at a time which almost seemed too much for the bloke behind the counter to cope with. Even then the food and drink on the receipt didn't correspond to what we had ordered so goodness knows if we paid the right amount. It was a shame because there were lots of kids toys and looked like a lovely cafe but would not go back. Thankfully the food arrived in less time than it had taken to order as we had two hungry and grumpy children by then.

This used to be a Costa. It's been refurbished but it is as if they ran out of budget and bought a job lot of second hand furniture. There are some comfortable chairs and sofas - but when you have a plateful of food it's difficult to eat when you're one one of these. There are tables with upright chairs - I sat in one for a while and it was uncomfortable in the extreme. There are some window seats but they too looked very uncomfortable. My wife had quiche and salad with tea. Tea was OK but she didn't eat all the quiche as she said it had a strong cheese taste but didn't taste of anything else - it was supposed to be leek and bacon. I had sausage roll and salad and a latte. The sausage roll was OK. Both salads were comprised of a few red and green leaves and some sliced red cabbage - no dressing and extremely dry and limp - we didn't eat them. The latte was, I think, £2.50 which made it poor value as the mug was very small - it tasted OK.Cakes looked OK but we were so disappointed with the food we didn't try them

Went in this afternoon. Had an amazing coffee but couldn’t but help feel like they were understaffed today. They were all rushing around working as hard as they could, but definitely could do with an Extra pair of hands. However, will not fault the quality of the coffee as it was amazing as normal. Don’t know if it’s an issue with lack of employees available or if that’s all they could put on at once but I felt as thought the level of service dropped due to this.

We've been meeting up monthly there for a good few months for something to eat. It's got a good menu and the food is. OK Recently we've come across a middle aged bloke working there who is rude and sarcastic so we'll find somewhere else in Charminster to meet up.

The staff were very rude and the building was unsafe and can cause you injuries. I went to the toilet to wash my hands and accidentally hit the top of my head on the door frame when leaving the bathroom (which was too low, despite me only being 5'11"). After I explained to whoever was in charge that I hit my head on the door frame in the toilet, she said that I should "use my eyes" and that there was writing on the other door frames (but not the one I hit my head on) and that I should look where I am going in the future like "normal people". I tried to explain that all that was needed was some padding or something colourful to stop people hitting their heads but she wasn't interested in my recommendations and was extremely rude and disrespectful, insisting that the writing she had was enough warning, and that it was my own fault I was injured. Not only was I left with a severe headache but was also treated so rudely and disrespectfully by a member of staff I'm never going back here again and recommend everyone else avoid this place also.

Unfortunately we did not see the sign that said take a seat and someone would be with you shortly. We asked the girl behind the counter for a coffee and a tea, she took the order and we showed her where we would be sitting, informing us she would come over and take the order. Another man came in went straight to the counter and ordered food and drink and went and sat down. So my husband went up to the counter and asked for a bacon and sausage sandwich to be told .... "I can't do everything at once, I'm making you coffee and tea" and threw her hands up in the air. She was so rude, I could not believe she spoke to a customer that way. I work in customer service and I would have been sacked for speaking to a customer that way on the spot. It was not busy and she was certainly not run off her feet. Lesson in customer service 1 Hello how can I help you 2 Please take a seat and I will be with shortly 3 Go to table and take the order and smile!! and say "I will make your drinks and you food order will be with you shortly 4 Upsell - ask the customer if there is anything else I can help you with Positive .... the sandwich was lovely.
