An amazing fish and chips with a dollop of local history and a sprinkle of tourist information....what a wonderful experience- food and company both top notch 😍

Has such amazing fish and an extremely nice owner that is always happy to get sent cards (I sent him one with pictures of Loch Lomond) and has lovely little paintings on the walls 🙂.

Been going here since I can remember (maybe 4 years old?). I’m now 35 and even though I live overseas now, it’s high on the list of where I need to go when I’m back for a visit.

Best service I’ve had in a chippy! Owner very friendly gave us a few chips while we waited after a hike on the peaks it was very much needed!

The man with dark hair who serving the fish, he should focus on his job no need to ask customers for their race and background and Politics of countries, I’ll never go again

Be careful he will charge you for a large and give you a small potion he will turn the tray with the lid upside down and put your food on the lid so you get a smaller portion.

Always love to visit, the owner and staff are chatty and friendly. We try to get in on opening, so it's not as busy!

Touted as the best fish and chips in Macclesfield, which put high expectations on our visit. Given the fact that most businesses are struggling financially and need as much support as possible, I recommend that anyone who wants good fish and chips keeps helping this venue. I was a bit snobby before, but realise that quality of food is disappearing and when they're gone, they don't come back. If it is local to you and suits your tastes, then I highly recommend the place. However, I have had better fish and chips in the area (outside Altrincham FC if you're wondering).

We stopped by for a snack so got some fish bites & a large fries - £3 each. There were 6 fish bites in the portion & it was freshly fried but didn't taste great. Essentially tasteless & mushy inside. Not sure how much fish was in there but it certainly didn't taste like what you would expect fish bites to be. Let's just say Bird's Eye fish fingers taste more like fish! The large chips were nice though they were kinda soggy chips - we liked the comforting flavour & there wasn't too much salt & vinegar. Overall, we enjoyed the chips but not the fish bites (which should be called something else!). Our visit was a bit hit & miss so can only recommend the chips!

We asked for the largest fish they did after being told they only do one size we assumed it would be a fair one, what a joke it wouldn't of filled my kid very disappointed

Had the most amazing fish & chips, cooked to perfection. Lesley & the other lady are so lovely, the owner is also a gem. I rang up to say Thankyou. Honestly I'm so fussy with fish & chips, I've tried many places but these knock the others out the park. ( Louise) 🙂

Never been here before - but had heard good things said about the place: As with most chip shops, we arrive a little trepidatiously - do they take cards? Alas, they do not, as per the sign in the window. But often this is displayed by an establishment, somewhat confrontationally, as a stand against modernity - not here. We stepped inside to be greeted by a lady behind the counter who not only directed us to the nearest cashpoint, but also was happy to price our order and to begin to prepare it whilst we sought out the cashpoint. Upon our return, she placed a small tray of chips on the counter for us to nibble on whilst she waited for our order to be completed. This was very impressive customer service. When we unwrapped our meals at home, we were astounded at the portion sizes - none of our 'huge eaters' could finish their meal - all of which was perfectly cooked, presented and piping hot. Were I to own a chippy, it would be modeled upon this one in every way (although taking cards would be nice). This is without doubt an exemplary chip shop - we shall continue to support it, it is well deserving of our and all of Macclesfields custom.

Fabulous fish and chips and very welcoming owners. Even gave us an extra piece of fish because of a small fillet !! Highly recommended.

Decent chippy. Proprietor is well known and friendly. Not been for years but back in Macc for the day so tried it. It was good but not excellent, I suspect another day it would be better though.

We tried to order a chips and curry and a fish, chips and peas but were told they had run out of both curry and peas!! Incredibly annoying given these are the sides you expect in a chip shop. We substituted for gravy and the food was ok, just not what we’d wanted.

...and we'll have chips! And gravy twice. We'll have pudding, chips and peas and two fried rice.

Ordered chippy from here earlier this evening after years of custom. Usually very good fish and chips but tonight the fish was awful very dry and tasteless. We made sure we went early as we knew Good Friday would be a busy one but unfortunately tonight our meal was awful, dry tasteless fish and dried out chips. Shame as it seems recently Waters Green Fish bar has gone down hill. May have to try elsewhere in future.

Owner is a really nice guy. That scores. However after years of us. Last Thursday I stood in the queue at 7.15pm I was asked if I wanted fish, ordered 2. The lady in front ordered 1. After a 15 minute wait both of us was told No Fish. By then other chip chops had closed. His nonchalant attitude has cost him the cost of his next BMW. Enjoy mate.

This is our go to place for chips but on this occasion had an awful experience. Felt very sorry for the staff members as the owner was constantly shouting at them. Humiliated the girl who was being trained, walked out in disgust. Staff should be treated with respect!

I'm usually a big fan of this chip shop, but got very poor service this time, and will be trying somewhere else. When the owner (Tele) is there it runs smoothly. Sadly, when he's not (as was the case this time) it didn't - I placed my order and waited, and waited, and waited. It had been forgotten. Eventually the fish and chips arrived (they were fine - as usual)

Tele the owner, has been running this place for over thirty years. A few years ago the place was almost burned down but Tele got it up and running again. The produce is fab and Tele is known by everyone locally. If you want fish and chips in Macclesfield this is the place to go.

Try gravy on chips, it's a northern delight. Chips are so good you don't really need salt vinegar or ketchup.

Been going to Tele for years. His chips have no competition in Macclesfield. His food and his service have always been top notch!

Agree with other reviewers - manager overides and emabarasses staff. Certainly not a team environment. £7 for fish chips and peas - expensive. Would be ok if quality lived up to this cost, but it doesn’t. Who puts peas in the tray first? First (and will be last time) I experience this way of serving. I will be looking elsewhere for my takeaway fix.

Needed something to eat late in the evening after gym so decided I'd earned some chips. The service is very friendly, reasonably priced and convenient.

Bought a large portion of chips - turned out to be greasy, stuck together and soggy! Should have taken them back - won't visit again!!

Owner speaks to his staff with no respect. Try’s to embarrass them in front of customers but actually only embarrasses him self. Nothing worse than walking into a cafe/restaurant and seeing management be rude to their own staff, horrible to see and awful atmosphere, unfortunately won’t be returning. Feel sorry for the poor staff.

Went for small fish and chips. Sausage and chips Curry sauce Peas £11:30 I was served left over chips from lunchtime. Wont be going here ever again. Macclesfields best fish bar. I dont think so.

I've visited here quite a few times, not because the food is anything better than average, but it's just conveniently located.

Family come here very often when I’m back home , but for me I wasn’t to convinced , the fish was soggy when I got home , the chips were lovely, but was disappointed with my fish

Great food professional staff, who can also laugh.

They have a great variety of beers and tbe bartender even offered us to taste some of them in order to decide what we liked better. Had a pleasant evening there.

Can been a bit hit and miss, depending on what time you go. If you go during peak time, generally very good (when things are coming out 'fresh'). Other than that it can be a bit of a lottery on how good it is. Sometimes old/dry/hard stuff. At worst chips are hardly edible occasionally. As of Oct 2018 prices have increased making it a little expensive.

Just enjoyed a takeaway meal of fish and chips at Waters Green. An excellent takeaway meal, well cooked and presented. Ample size portions of a high quality. Excellent, friendly service.
