No a grain of salt or splash of vinegar on the chips.. Worst chips in sandbach

I ordered large haddock, small chips, and mushy peas okay I understand I ordered as it opened but I was in a rush to go out so couldn’t wait too long. It took an hour to arrive that’s about right but the fish was in soggy batter only just about warm very dried up clearly yesterday’s cook definitely not fresh today mushy peas were lukewarm and the chips we’re okay, but still look like yesterday’s and all that for £14.50 A big letdown most of the batter went in the bin and the fish. I had a little bit of gave the cats the rest it was not like a fish should be from a chip shop at all. Definitely I’ll use somewhere else in future.

Meal was awful, chips looked like they were days old, dry bitty and burnt, food arrived late and luke warm, bottle of pop missing most of it went in the bin, won’t use again

This was my first visit to Sandbach and I had been looking for something to eat on a sunny Sunday evening and stumbled upon The Codfather – by the old market place. The staff could not have been more friendly or accommodating, and the pie, chips and beans were just what I needed. Taking advantage of the sunshine, I enjoyed a quiet meal by the old Saxon crosses, thankful for life and the charming people we meet. Highly recommended. Thank you.

absolutely terrible, the state of the food was horrendous the chips were dry and burnt some appearing black the battered sausage was very dry too it was all disgusting like it had been sat for hours. when calling up to complain they had a young boy talking with no experience rude kept putting the phone down been very disrespectful I paid for a delivery but wanted me to take the food back so I took the food back a few hours later and got my money back the manners of both males were very poor shouting and in the end I did end up swearing as I had called nearly 10 times and they were hanging up on me and didn't want to resolve my complaint will never go here again. avoid this place far better places around sandbach.

Delivery was delayed just for it to come to the door frozen cold

love the food always fresh and hot, good vibes all round. would recommend going when the pink hair guy is working he makes the experience better

This is the best takeaway I’ve ever had. I went and the workers are so so nice. I rate it a 5/5 and I recommend the ice creams, they are so nice. Just go here.

Ordered before and was not too bad. Ordered today its vile. Fish was weird and bland, small chips ( very very small) were minging. Our sausages were completely burnt. Also a can of pop was burst. Which I said to the driver is fine and not to worry about it, but I didn't know then how awful the food was !! Don't like leaving bad reviews but I just spent 33 and we have all binned our food apart from one meal which was chicken tikka kebab which was nice tbh. But the rest was not good .

We have ordered from here in the past and it has been ok but it seems to have gone downhill . The food was absolutely appalling the chips were warmed up, greasy and very hard . It’s a shame as when it opened it was very good

I personally think the food here is very good, I order for delivery and everything we have had is good, where at 10.00 can you get chippy chips delivered, hardly no scappy chips, for me they are quality, I cannot fault them just give them a chance, I would like to think I've got pretty high standards and I'm not complaining and also don't be put off by the delivery time on there website 9/10 they deliver much quicker, it might be worth codfather changing how long delivery time is on there website as that might put people off because it did with me at first.

Greasy soggy black chips, bad potatoes I presume. Sausage was the most disgusting colour. Some of order missing so had to ring. Owner rude to the extreme Fed the whole lot (3 meals) to the bin

Good food & service highly recommend

2 hours after ordering chips, we still haven’t received them and they are closed...apparently they are still on their way, with, what I can only assume is cold food. Hopefully we can get our money back - will never use again. *Update - we did give them another try, the food was inedible and after leaving a review on just eat they chose to respond with rude comments totally ignoring our points - customer is apparently always wrong at this chippy.

Gross. The delivery driver didn't even acknowledge me, not a word. Then the chips arrived half cooked, still raw potatoes. The sausage was a weird colour. Went straight in the bin, didn't even dare feed it to my dog EDIT* In response to the owners comments: i didnt come back as the whole.point of me getting a takeaway was so it was a quick easy dinner. PLUS the way in which your delivery driver didnt even speak makes me wonder what kind of reception i would get in your shop. ALSO i checked out of foodhub as a guest, so was unable to leave a review and therefore used google. Maybe stop arguing with customers and focus on how to cook

Bins at the walk way of the side of the chip shop stink of rotting fish!!! Left open and over flowing! Not good hygiene at all, just what you want when your thinking of food or walking past... Avoid.... like the rotting smell from the bin over flowing at the side of the building! If your bins are over flowing and left open it's a HEALTH HAZZARD! If you need more bins then get more, othe food businesses in Sandbach don't seem to have this problem. So many 1 star reviews....... Not good or maybe something isn't right at this place..... Your choice. So many comments about "not cooked food" poor...

Family uber eats delivery ordered for tea. Cold food, missing item, poor customer service. Won’t be back.

Didn't get the milkshake I ordered, chips were undercooked (literally still hard) the curry sauce was very bland, I added my own masala spice blend over the top so I recommend adding lots of masala to the curry, and the chicken was downright disgusting looking, flabby coating and it was cold

I've only ever bought milkshakes here so hence the four stars as I cannot comment on the food quality at this point. However, I can fully recommend the Snicker milkshake and the sour apple slurpee. The staff have always been polite and the venue seems clean and well maintained. We'll be trying the waffles soon, I'm sure.

We've ordered from The Cod Father a few times recently and it's been great but unfortunately tonight's order was terrible and to be honest we will not be ordering again. We placed the order via Uber Eats and was given an estimated delivery of 7.15-7.45pm I rang the shop at 7.55 and was told the order was just leaving. 20 mins later it finally arrived but was wrong. We had chicken poppers and chips (which we didn't order) and we were missing the donner meat and chips. All the food was barely warm and to top it off my son found a hair in the chicken poppers meal 🤮. I'm aware that it's Father's Day and they were busy but to receive the wrong order, not hot and find a hair is very poor. We will not be ordering from The Cod Father again

Orded Donor meat and chips, was served by a man with a track suit top on, would be good if he had a apron on or catering jacket. Chips were dry and under cooked, the donor meat was tasteless and portion was small. Better chipshops in town.

Absolutely appalling do not buy from here ever food came over an hour and a half late and chips were not that great only thing that saved it was the milkshake but overall appalling experience driver came and knocked on over 20 minutes after delivering asking for money even though we paid online

Tried twice as first time I thought it was a one off nasty fish and chips but tried again and the same. Would stay away, really not a good place for fish and chips! Best walk round or drive to pisces fish bar! Which is so much better! Bins often left open at side of shop too on the walk way DISGUSTING AND SMELLY! not sure that's actually legal?

We ordered using a popular food app. So convenient. They delivered to us in Middlewich within the 50 minutes order to delivery window as promised for a small charge. And..the cod and chips were top quality delicious. We were well impressed.

Food was ok but i collected my order during the Covid-19 lockdown and all 5 members of staff cooking the food and serving were wearing their masks on their chins not covering their mouths or noses at all.

It took an hour and a half for 1 fish, 2 large chips, 2 large curry sauce and a large mushy peas. The food itself was warm, but the taste was not as good as other chip shops in the town. Last time I will order from here as this is not the first time it has happened.

Twice I've ordered here and my food has had hair and it's been raw called the council to fix this because they will end up killing somebody or making them I'll worse place I've ever been to they used to be really nice will never order again clearly nee staff or management is running this into the ground

Food poor quality cooked in naff oil. Everything had a weird smell. Donner meat was okay as I think it was about the only thing not in oil. Milkshakes unreal, almost saved it.

So far during lockdown we have had two deliveries. First was fish and chips with curry and peas very nice, on time. Second a little bit late but again fish and chips great, and my chicken doner kebab the best I have had.

We ordered here last night. It's about the 6th time that we had a delivery. We asked for 2 lightly battered fish and chips and a oreo milkshake. Terrible terrible the fish was over battered and chips were cold and the milkshake was like slush. Never never again so dissatisfied and disappointed.

Absolute joke, from ordering 2hrs 15 mins, as it was for kids I rang after an hour and a half to cancel, lied to by the owner saying it’s on its way, A further 1hr 15mins wait and it turns up, order wrong no chilli cheese nuggets, joke lied to, food was cold and wrong order.

Been here twice first time waited an hour for delivery but at least food was good. This time the hour wait time went by after an hour & 15 I rang only to get a rude female member of staff saying they were busy and no apology, I asked when we could expect it and the response was about another 20 minutes. 30 minutes passed & still no sign of it so rang and spoke to manager who refused to answer when we could expect it & just kept saying they were busy with customers and I said but I'm a customer & have already paid, he just kept saying while I'm talking to you I can't serve people so ring after 9pm and can speak to you then. Food finally arrived after 2 hours and fish was overcooked, probably been sitting in heater for the 2 hours from when it was first ordered. Do not use this chip shop, total failure of their own terms and conditions of service and I demand a response from owner and do not expect the same feeble excuses as there was on the phone, otherwise will contact trading standards.

Moved house and still use this chippy for delivery. Quality breadcrumb fish, chips and gravy is awesome, and the aero milkshakes are to die for! Amazing!

Worst chips ever ordered a chip bap how that's an adults and the plate is a small the bap tasted proper greasy and of burgers so I'm guessing u grill the bap on the same grill as meat u have proper gone down hill guys unfortunately due to this this is the last time I order from u such a shame coz u used to do lovely food

2 stars as The milkshake was pretty decent. And the delivery was on time. But the chips were really dry and not very nice to taste. The pizza, well my 3 year old wouldnt even eat it sorry to say. But thanks for a nice milkshake

We ordered as we are going away tomorrow and it is a birthday today. Items missing, didn't believe us when we complained, told us we should have gone to restaurant for a birthday, also told us when we said we would complain that they have thousands of customers so your opinion doesn't matter. When I said we would be leaving a bad review they hung up on me. I asked for a refund and they said that because we ordered through just eat he wouldn't. Read their negative reviews on just eat, and their responses, you will get an idea. Food was acceptable, but nothing to write home about. I rarely write reviews apart from when it is really bad food / service or really great. Up to you if you take the risk.

Edit: This wasn't ordered today this was around 2 weeks ago, just got around to doing the review. The comment the owner has left is incorrect. Honestly if I could rate 0 stars I would, I booked online and paid by card at around 8'o'clock, I kept up to date with the tracking and saw that after the 45 mins it still wasn't here. At first I gave it the benefit of the doubt, maybe it was a busy night, but then an hour past and I got annoyed. Then I saw it said the food had been delivered so I attempted to ring, I rang about 20 times before finally getting through to someone to tell me my order had only just been received 15 mins ago, after me ordering over an hour ago. I then was told it would be 30 minutes. Obviously I was fooled because now 2 hours had past and I was still foodless. I attempted to ring again multiple times but was having no luck getting through. Eventually the delivery driver showed up with my food and asked me for the money, I told him I paid online, he was not aware of this and then had to attempt to ring the takeaway, he also wasn't getting through, so slowly my food was going cold. I told him I've been waiting 2 hours now and he was shocked. He then told me that he couldn't give me the food until he had confirmed at drove off with my food, leaving me to wait even longer and my food getting even colder. Eventually he showed back up, said "it's free" even though it wasn't because the money went out my bank and then left. I opened the box and it looked okay, until I went to go eat the fish and saw it was undercooked, and instantly I was put off my food and just had toast instead. I waited 2 hours for undercooked fish and cold chips for £11. Definitely will not be ordering from here again.

This is the worst takeaway in South Cheshire. The manager is an arrogant man who does not care. After 2 hours waiting he wasn't bothered and told us if we wanted a refund to go to just eat, which we have. 1st and last order not received. Would never recommend this farce of a place to anyone.

Battered sausage was not cooked properly

I visited lunch time the service was quick and staff were very polite. The donor meat and chips were hot and very tasty and the portion size was good.
