Chips were chunky but tasted weird, had Cod but don't I was served that - very thin fish - batter was super greasy too. Not sure what oil they are using but it's making the food taste horrible. Really let down as this used to be a good chippy - not sure if its new owners or not. After spending nearly 30 quid, we wont be returning.

Have been getting fish and chips from here for over a year now. I work just down the road so it's great for lunch, the portions are always generous, the staff are lovely, very welcoming and prepared to help! I would definitely recommend large rish and chips with a scallop, the scollops are the best in the world!!! Thank you guys :)

Poor hygiene practice. Serving food without hair covers or overalls. Saw the woman touch her face and tuck her hair behind her ears numerous times before directly handling food. This was my first visit and from what I saw, I won’t be going back anytime soon.

Very good chippy. However do not answer the phone for orders anymore which is disappointing and means I have stopped ordering from here as I only have 30 minute dinner time and cannot wait in the shop when busy

Nice fella who runs the place. Basic Chippy, would visit again, the selection is not quite up to a Yorkshire Chippy standard, but what you get here is OK.

We stopped here on the way back from a horrendous Manchester Airport experience. Excellent freshly cooked fish. Very generous portions.

Just the best fish. The batter is perfection, not too heavy. Chips are tasty and the curry sauce was the dogs b**llox too. Highly recommend!

Polite service with a smile. Fish was freshly cooked and very tasty. A little on the greasy side but very good. Chips were very good. Good value for money. Perhaps if they corrected the spelling of Poynton fish bar on Tripadvisor they might get more positive feedback!

The staff were lovely and polite and the food was excellent.

I have been and purchased Chips n Gravy 4 times and the Gravy is brilliant. The Chips and Gravy from Poynton Fish Bar are amazing. The staff are helpful and polite even when the Covid stuff was going on they were very good. I am happy to keep going back as long as they don't change the Gravy recipe they use. The Chips are brilliant and cooked very well. No complaints from me.

This is the number one Fish & Chips in the area bar none. The fish is cooked to order in a light & crispy batter to perfection. The chips are done to light crisp with a premium spud with the right amount of volume, not too much not too little. They're that good I drive all the way from Macclesfield!

First time visiting this place on the recommendation of a friend. Making good fish and chips is an art form, and this chippy has perfected it. Comfortably the best fish and chips I've ever had.

Fish & Chips doesn’t come better than this! Everything was piping hot, crispy golden batter which stayed crisp till the last bite, sweet moist fish, golden crisp chips - even the mushy peas were great and they usually aren’t my bag. Rare to find a chippy anywhere these days who can fry to this standard. Sensible prices, friendly service and spotlessly clean. You wait a couple minutes for fish but worth it being cooked to order and there’s other options if you need something really quick. Thought we’d look for a lunch spot on way back to Stockport and glad we did, found a gem! Will be back with the kids soon! Great work, many thanks!

This is just good quality fish and chips, cooked to order by friendly staff who are keen to ensure you get what you really want. In my travels I have sometimes paid restaurant prices for take away fish and chips, but not here. The portions are generous but the price is good. Limited parking immediately to the front and other places nearby.

The parking outside isn't exclusively designated to this chip shop, regardless of what you're told by the rude woman working there. I've spoken with the barber who neighbours this place and he's not particularly happy with customers being told this either.

Love this chippy and the owners are always so friendly reasonably priced and a bonus you can pay by card great fish everytime not greasy at all and good sized portions too

Absolutely brilliant staff. Husband & wife team I think. Professional, friendly & great sense of humour. Parking out front & a great selection of food (I highly recommend the scampi) at competitive prices. All this in a spotlessly clean establishment makes a visit here a real treat.

Clean, great staff, good food and good service

The fish is consistently fresh and well battered (not too stodgy) and the chips are good as well. Service is always friendly and staff are clear with waiting time for fish, which is generally cooked to order. Consistently good as well, unlike a lot of chippy's.

Best to check its actually open before you go in the day. As its 1.27pm on a Tuesday and shut. States online open till 2pm

Was enjoying my fish and chip lunch until I found a long dark hair in it. I did notice when it was being put in the tray that the lady pulled something from it before wrapping. Looks like she didn't get all the hairs out. Would have been nice if she knew there had already been a hair in it, that she would have just made up a fresh one. It's a shame as the kebabs etc looked really good.

We called at this fish and chip shop for our evening meal on Wednesday 29th August. As we only visit Stockport area twice a year, we have enjoyed calling into this Fish bar as the food was usually good. Not this year though. As soon as we went into the shop I noticed some changes. There was a poster on the wall celebrating the success of the shop. That was gone. Also a donor kebab machine was set up and the staff were different. We ordered steak puddings and chips and then sat in the car to eat. After a few mouthfuls we both decided something was wrong. The food was tasteless. It is such a shame as the fish bar is in a prime position on the road. We will not be back for our supper here again. There are plenty of other food establishments along that road. Shame, but if something is changed then it usually spoils it for the customer.

Aunque el pescado es bueno, no es nada especial y el servicio es igualmente promedio.En resumen, es una tienda de chips, rápida, fácil y justo lo que te apetece en ocasiones, sin embargo, esta tienda de chips es como ninguna que haya conocido, ¡generalmente cerrada! Parece que el propietario debe ganar lo suficiente para abrir solo cuando le convenga. Cerrar antes de la hora anunciada es la norma, que es a las 9 pm - ¡me desconcierta! El domingo por la noche, el momento ideal para llevar, no hay oportunidad, no se abre.Sinceramente, como local, preferiría que la tienda se vendiera a nuevos propietarios para dar paso a un negocio que sea conveniente para sus clientes.

We enjoy the occasional chippy dinner, their chips are great , I like the fish and hubby likes the pies, we also enjoy the mushy peas .

This place is second best to 5ways fisheries. It's really good quality and decently priced food. Not good for eating in but great for a take out. usually fast service and quite friendly.
