My friend treated me to a pre-Christmas lunch here. It is a lovely and cosy if slightly quirky place with good food and service.

Booked table for 8 for Sunday lunch with the family in this small, charming restaurant. The food was exceptional -juicy Sunday roasts all round and fab puddings too. The wait staff looked after us (in error served the wrong wine but as an apology, reduced the price of the good alternative wine). We had a great time, fab atmosphere. An extremely fab, non-pretencious restaurant. Can't wait to go back again! Xx

Remembrance Sunday. A special day and made all the better for another simply wonderful Sunday lunch. Faultless cooking; tender beef, crunchy roast potatoes, perfectly cooked vegetables and delicious gravy. All washed down with a well priced Nebbiolo and all served by Jay and his excellent staff. This must be one of the best Sunday lunches in London.

Watermans in Richmond is only 100 yards from the riverside. It is small, but the meals and desserts are really nice.

A delicious lunch was had here with friends. The service was excellent. Lovely restaurant with a great setting nearby the River Thames.

Watermans Cafe in Richmond is a delightful spot that offers a fantastic riverside dining experience. I had two glasses of Negroni, and I loved every sip—the perfect blend of flavors. The fresh oysters were a highlight, showcasing the quality of their seafood. I also tried the risotto, which was initially a bit undercooked. However, when I mentioned this to the waiter, they promptly offered to replace it. The second plate was delicious, beautifully cooked and full of flavor. What made my visit even more enjoyable were the conversations I had with fellow diners—two old friends and 2 lovely siblings from Africa. Their warmth added a sense of community to my afternoon. Overall, Watermans Cafe is a charming venue with great food, attentive service, and a friendly atmosphere. I had a lovely afternoon and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a pleasant meal by the river.

Excellent beer, effecient and friendly service

A fantastic spot in Richmond with a sumptuous menu of delicacies and an excellent wine list, all very reasonably priced. Service was also superb, Sophie looked after us and was super helpful, knowledgeable and attentive - a great asset to the team there. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend Watermans for anyone looking for a beautiful venue for lunch or dinner, and will be heading back there soon.

Hay una amplia selección de vinos interesantes con un montón de opciones por copa. El menú es variado y de temporada. Tuve el risotto de espárragos que se cocinó a la perfección y rebosó de sabores de verano. Mi novio tomó el espagueti vongole. Él es todo un conocedor del plato y me aseguró que estaba bien para el estándar. No tuvimos tiempo para el pudín, pero ya estamos planeando nuestra próxima visita, cuando definitivamente haremos tiempo para el postre. Muy recomendable

EXCELLENT RESTAURANT! My partner & I were in Richmond for a day out and on the way to the river we passed 'Watermans" in Water Lane, liked the look of it and the menu and booked our table for 1pm. We were not disappointed. A very friendly welcome by the owner showed us to our corner table. I started with the chicken liver parfait followed by the roast beef. My partner had 3 oysters to start followed by the roast pork. Both roasts were accompanied with huge and delicious Yorkshire puddings and all the trimmings. The roasts were delicious, with both meats cooked perfectly. We only had room for one dessert of coconut sorbet which we shared. Washed down with a large glass of Sauvignon Blanc each and a bottle of fizzy water, the bill (with service charge) came to £146.53. It was definitely worth it. The nice touches were cotton table cloths and large cotton napkins, fresh tulips on the table, a glass of ice cubes with ice tongs to freshen up the ice in the water and huge balloon wine glasses. All this made for a very enjoyable and relaxing Sunday lunch. If we're ever in Richmond again "Watermans" will be our 'go to' restaurant for either lunch or dinner. RECOMMENDED!

We went for a Sunday roast, and although it was tasty, for £26.99 I had one and a half slices of roast pork, and the 3 roast potatoes were the size of 3 walnuts. They were a little more generous with the beef priced at £28. Several things were sold out from the already limited menu by the time we arrived in the evening. We all felt a little hungry still but decided against 🍨 desserts. We were happy to pay the price, but please give a little bit more food. For 1 main course each, a coffee each and a couple of drinks each its £50 a head. Staff were pleasant and attentive, but it was a noisy room on a Sunday not helped by loud music in the background. Maybe it would be best to try in the week if you intend to go.

Third time coming and hopefully not the last, excellent seafood, with plenty of other options for the less seafood inclined. Complete and thoughtful wine list including dessert wines, strong french selection overall. Service is attentive while non-intrusive, quirky location/sitting arrangements which adds to the charm. Fairly priced for quality. Top chips/fries!

Easily the best pub roast lunch I have had for a long time. I always test the roast potatoes before eating the rest of the meal. If the potatoes are not right then I will not eat the rest of the meal. In this instance, full marks. Perfectly cooked, in proper duck fat, to a golden crispness. If it wasn't so far from where I live I could happily spend most Sundays here. 10/10 all round for food quality and service. Well done.

We've just come back from Sunday lunch at the Waterman's to celebrate my dad's 89th birthday. It was an absolute treat from start to finish. The staff were incredible, so kind to my dad - treated him like royalty (which he adored) and the food was absolutely delicious. We really could not have asked for a more perfect Sunday celebration. We will definitely be back.

We had a very nice meal here this Friday pre cinema, only 4 stars for atmosphere as we ate at 6pm (unsurprisingly not full). I love this restaurant, it's small and intimate and the grub's excellent. Waiting staff attentive in the right way and food was not rushed. Highly recommended! Andy.

Looking for somewhere in Richmond for an evening night out with dogs, that was more than a pub, we found the Watermans. This is more than just a pub and is tucked away, so if you didn't know about it you could miss out. There were 7 of us and 2 dogs. They gave us a table in an area, which I believe leads through to the garden. For us it was great we were almost self contained, which was good as we can be loud. I did feel for a couple on the other table, as if they were out for a romantic meal ilus chatting did not add to that! As for the restaurant itself, our waitress was good, especially as we had lots of questions. They do a 3 course menu, which is reasonably priced, which 5 of us had, something I believed for everyone. 2 went a la carte. None of us had any real complaints about our food. I had the Beetroot and whipped goals cheese, spaghetti a vongole and crumble. The custard with the crumble could have been a bit thicker, however I ate everything. All in all I can't fault this restaurant. Food great, service good. Dog friendly and the staff lovely. I think we have found our go to place, as we come from as far away as Reading! Lovely Saturday lunch! Great selection of wine on the drinks menu. I had oysters to start and then moules for main with fries, both courses were lovely, especially the mussles, the sauce was so rich and flavourful! Proper linen table cloths and service was excellent too, I highly recommend.

Quite decent food. The menu is solid but unoriginal. Service was horrible. The staff seemed genuinely uninterested in making a good impression. Given this is still a relatively new restaurant, I would love to more passion and care for the customers. I can't see it lasting.

Two slices of beef, 3small potatoes, 1 slither of a carrot, 1 slither of a parsnip spoon full of cabbage and a large Yorkshire pudding on top to hide the disappointing lunch hidden underneath, also the toilets were filthy. Very disappointed.

Had a lovely dinner for two from the set menu. Incredible value for money. The food was scrumptious and the serving sizes generous. We had a great time thanks to the delightful staff and manager. Would definitely recommend.

Very disappointed. We were there in the past and all the food was good ,that is why we chose to come here for NY. The table was on the back of the restaurant, no atmosphere for a new year celebrations.. The starter was testless, the main , a monkfish was like a rubber gum and tested very salty. Most was been left on the plate.The manager waiwed the wine as courtesy, as he can't deny the poor quality of food,and I am appreciate it, but it's not the point. When you book a restaurant you want a decent meal, and this it's was very far from it. Especially for a new year celebrations! Never again

Had a wonderful few hours in here on Saturday. The food, especially the lamb and Dover sole, was exceptional. The cocktails were delicious and very well made. The atmosphere was perfect but the real star of the show was Milo with his professional and cheery service. In fact the whole team went well above and beyond to cater for our needs. Will certainly go back. And they're dog friendly too. Highly recommended...

In the last year I’ve visited 3 times, for dinner twice and a Sunday roast once. The staff are extremely welcoming and efficient and the food is incredible. Last night in particular the food was ridiculous, it was so delicious! Generous portions and although it’s a bit pricey, well worth it!

Exceptional. It is so hard to find a good roast in London nowadays and the roast here was incredible, we couldn’t fault a single element. On top of the amazing food was equally as impressive service. Every member of staff was attentive and professional. Highly recommend!

Despite dining relatively early (7pm) we were shunted through to the soulless and completely lacking in atmosphere back room which other diners clearly viewed in a similar vein, as another couple took a long look and left! Food was OK although one starter (warm spiced cauliflower salad) was badly undercooked. For the expensive price, I would have expected a lot more.

We have walked past this restaurant many times. It looks like a lovely restaurant so decided to try it. The food was excellent. If you are all about food and are not fussed about service, then five it a try. For me though, it's about the whole experience. Staff were immature, inexperienced and untrained. We were four, and our waiter took our order, but came 15 mins later to ask if we wanted our starters with the mains. Long story short, he hadn't taken our order correctly and messed the whole thing up. Service throughout was poor. We wanted to have more drinks after we had finished our meal (this was 10pm on a Friday night), and when we asked if we could have a drink at the bar, the manager reluctantly said yes, but made it very clear he wanted to close up and go home. So we didn't and went to the pub round the corner. Won't go back in afraid.

Love what this pub is doing, it's a great upgrade for this bit of Richmond. High quality food and drinks in an atmosphere that is as much French bistro bar as British pub, but feels built for an occasion either way -- be it a real occasion or just a relaxing lunch within earshot of the river. Prices are steep by pub standards but the food lives up to it. Seafood focus to the brief menu; personally I would like a few more non-fishy options.

Fantastic! White tableclothed tables caught my attention on a sunny Saturday especially because of some fabulous looking cocktails. Asked inside if they might have a table for 3. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and said one would be available in just 30 minutes. Came back and was seated outside on the deck. The wine is great, and the seafood is exception and all very reasonably priced. We have mussels, scollops, lobster rolls, vongole and sole. All washed down with Chablis. 10/10 and would recommend to anyone looking for a special meal with great service. Probably best to make a reservation to avoid disappointment though they were very accommodating even though we didn’t have one.

Highlight my recommend this place. We went there for last minute lunch without reservations and a dog! They were so kind to accommodate and even bring out little Shiba Inu water. The service great! The food wonderful. Thank you ☀️💕

Just took my mother there for her birthday and we had a wonderful meal. Excellent moules marinées and such a lovely team of staff. Shout out to the lovely gentleman who made it a great experience.

Fantastic food, better than many restaurants

A delicious cocktail where the expresso in the martini was replaced with maple syrup! A nice place to chat away from shopping in the town centre, but you are only a couple of minutes away. The staff were also friendly and prompt!

We went on a warm sunny day and the courtyard was a delightful shaded oasis. The food was good and similar some other local gastro hostelries. Nice little location and an alternative to the Britannia, generally the two are very similar though this is cosier. Good food and service

We decided to try The Watermans for a post Curzon Cinema meal and we could not have been more impressed. The food was delicious, unusual and beautifully presented, the staff were welcoming, friendly and obliging and the service was efficient and attentive. A delightful find! We hope to keep going back again and again.

A very very good roast, top quality meat and all the components on the plate cooked well. Perfect portion size as well. Only comments would be that the jus was too sticky (reduced too far), give diners steak knives for the roast beef as it was difficult cutting through the fat and lastly the glassware was given to us dirty.

Friday night, July 22nd 2022. Had a fabulous night /evening meal at this brilliant pub. Tucked away just off of Brentford high street. Landlord and his young assistant were superb, down to a melody from the landlord on his flute, can thoroughly recommend the Yakisoba ( japanese).and the amazing atmosphere.👌👌

I have been meaning to visit the Watermans since it opened and I finally enjoyed an incredible Friday lunch earlier today. For those of us who have known Richmond since childhood the old Waterman's Arms was a pretty scary, run down pub full of locals who had been there since the last war: you certainly didn't pop in for a glass of rose and something nice to eat! The whole building has been completely and elegantly transformed into a warm, welcoming, thoughtfully designed space and being the same team behind the incredible Britannia I knew the food would be good too. I was not disappointed between us we enjoyed the Crab Tian, Liver Parfait, Cornish Hake, New Season Lamb but make sure you leave room for dessert - Jeanette enjoyed a luscious chocolate creation (sorry I can't remember the name!), but for me the star of the show was the trifle: AMAZING! I love trifle and this was exactly what it should taste like: a little bit of magic laced with Pimms in a glass. Of course they have an extensive and inviting wine list and we could happily have stayed all afternoon. Make sure you visit!

We enjoyed a lovely meal at Watermans last night. The restaurant is down a scenic, quiet lane. We sat outside on the nice terrace. The food was very good and so was the service. We ordered the liver parfait, followed by the sea bass and finished with the cheese platter. Everything was well prepared and delicious with good serving sizes. There’s a good, long wine list, with a large variety also offered by the glass. Good quality wines, reasonably priced and with plenty of regional and grape choice. We will be going back next time we’re in Richmond!

Super happy with our meal the other day... Quite a small bar/resteraunt hidden away down a small side road... I have to say though... SERIOUSLY good food and drinks. I was told by our waiter they have hired a new Head Chef; judging on this experience, I think they're going to be great for the place. I'm excited to see what direction they take it. It's not the largest place so probably book in advance. Thanks again guys, keep up the good work.

It’s a newly refurbished pub, that is now a gastro pub. The food is good and well priced for Richmond. The bar area is small but functional. Overall a nice place for dinner with friends or family.

Absolutely superb .. six of us had a long sunday lunch here .. the manager was brilliant as were all the staff .. i had the chicken pappardelle ... such a simple dish but the sauce and the seasoning raised it to another level.. great...

A friend took me to the Watermans, which I had not visited since it was acquired by new owners and completely refitted and remodeled.

The once-we-were-brewers-now-we-are-property-developers company formerly known as Youngs has turned the cozy and traditional Waterman's Arms into a restaurant. Yes, it could have done with re-decoration but Richmond needs another gastro-pub as much it needs another coffee shop.

This pub/restaurant is genuinely one of the nicest places to eat if you enjoy having good food in a nice room. If you are nearby then I heavily recommend going!!! Very Very Very impressive... 10/10

This charming restaurant has great atmosphere. It pays to book as it is alway busy. It is down a narrow cobblestone lane. If you only want a snack and a drink there are a few bar stools available. Tables and chairs are on the middle level and a further dining floor is upstairs. Bathrooms are at basement level. Stairs connect all three levels. We were welcomed warmly on arrival by the owner. The menu was innovative and enticing. The food was flawless. During our stay in London we called in regularly. Prices were average and realistic although we had one significant bill but it was a special occasion.

We went for lunch yesterday and were really impressed. We had a baby with us and the staff were really attentive and made us feel really welcome. The food was delicious. Individually, the food was slightly pricey but we did the set menu which was £20 for two courses. Would definitely recommend.
